Idk what the mini apps are actually called but is there a way to play youtube videos on one?
Try my media viewer small app (available from my signature) or just launch add small app from Small App Launcher. There's a limitation if you install from Play Store though, you'll lose background playback when on Youtube. Better install XDA version.

Hey guys,
This has already been found in the orther threads on xda but i thought i would bring this to the SGS2 forums. Video Live Wallpaper is an app in the market that will allow you to set any video with any video format and set it as you live wallpaper. It can Read from your memory card or from internal memory. Very cool app and i have been using it for a few months on different devices and doesnt drain battery as fast as i thought.
Also this is another app called tubemate which will allow you to download any video from youtube straight to your phone. with these apps together i was able to find music videos and have them set as my wallpaper and also have them set to change after each video. pretty cool find and much thanks to the dev who created the apps.
***tubemate is not in the market you will have to seach for it ....google tubemate apk android*****
Link to Video live wallpaper: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.ccpcreations.android.VLW&hl=en
Nice concept. Will try it out.
also when downloading videos make sure you download the correct resolution that fits your phone ex: dont download 1920x1080 if your phone only supports up to 720p lol
nice!, i'll play with it
Is there an updated version of the youtube app (or a mod) that allows you to play videos in the background and/or with the screen off? A search turns up results from 2009. Thanks

I couldn't find the stock youtube app modded. But in the market they have an app called Nextvid its free and lets you make playlist and works with screen off! Hope that helps.
I'm trying to use my camcorder to record simple videos for upload to YouTube. I would like to do some simple edits of the videos, such as removing/replacing sound and cutting extra scenes before upload. Any suggestions on some free programs that will work with Samsung's video format? Either phone or PC apps are fine.
I use the one from samsung apps store. Its callwd video editor. Works good

I downloaded it earlier and it seems to work well for doing quick trims but unless I'm missing it the app doesn't seem to have the option to replace/remove the audio. I would just mute the audio when recording but the Samsung camera doesn't seem to have that option.
Is this app even pushing 720p?? It looks more like the HQ you get on 3G instead of the HD on WiFi.
I have the WiFi only N7.

To be honest I don't think the youtube app has ever pushed proper 720p let alone 1080p when the HD option was checked.
If you want, you can use a modded version of the old youtube app that allows you to select 720p/1080p and has other tweaks such as screen off playback and the ability to download the videos.
Search google for "youtube modded apk" and it should be the first link from XDA. (I can't post links yet)
As far as I know the only functionality you lose is the floating window thing but personally I don't really see the use in that myself.
Check this video out! I thought it looked great!

Not just the playback but the whole app are so blown up, you can only see 2 huge thumbnails at a time
The new Youtube app messes up the video quality. You can fix it by downgrading (uninstall updates in app info).

I have an unrooted AFTV and am looking for a media player that can see my Network Attached Storage, index it and show it to me in a library style format. I'm aware the Kodi can do this but was wondering if there is something a little more light weight ...an app designed specifically as a music library would be ideal.

There are a lot of media players out there that do what you need, but I suggest Wondershare Player. It can find all media on your server, and in my opinion is the best media player for android. One big thing it does is let you save the streaming url of network streams, which is an awesome feature. I keep a playercorefactory.xml with Wondershare as the default player so if I need a stream url I just move it to my SPMC data folder, click on the stream inside SPMC/Kodi, it plays on Wondershare and give me the option to see and keep the stream url. Now I can just delete the Playercorefactory.xml til I need it again. Plus it even has a browser.

Brilliant - thanks for the reply. Just to confirm the app in the link below is the one you're talking about? and that it can index all music like xbmc would?

BubbleUPNP should be able to find your NAS etc.. then you can select which app you want to use for example to play your music.

Cheers patt2k. I looked at bubble upnp and really like it but there was a limit the size of playlist I can create using the free version. Because my ftv isn't rooted, I don't think I can install the purchased version and get it to validate with the play store. Do you know of a way to do this?

I would think if the free version works so would paid, but be aware they will show under settings/manage apps. If you can't upgrade within aftv you should be able to do it on pc or android then sideload. Can someone verify this?

It depends how the app validates license.. for example for my nova prime I just extracted both nova launcher and prime.
You have to give it a shot.. buy it on playstore or use your resources to get it ,extract/download apk whatever your way of getting things is,sideloaded it and see what happens,.
