Tips, Suggestion, Please Help ASAP? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Correct me if i may be wrong or if i am in need of an updated version for this Rom i'm running or the settings, i have pre downloaded.
I'm currently running on G920P
OL1 Rom ( basically stock ) (rooted)
i followed a guide or tutorial from the stock forum and commenced the root
It is definitely Rooted so i have no knox just fyi
I'm also running Twrp 2.8.7.0
BETA SuperSU 2.67
used CF-Auto-Root-zerofltespr-zerofltespr-smg920p.tar to continue with i, everyting works fine
and then commenced flashing the hacker-kernel-SM-G920P-V12-su_266
but i have no idea what tweaks to do for the kernel considering , im still a n00b to that part or aspect but i have the basics of flashing and installing drivers running some twrp stuff.
i also have XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4
with this only working flashed file that worked for me
xposed-v75-sdk22-tw-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam-20151008
i used Xposed for Snapchat, Youtubes Adaway and Xinstaller for apps
My configuration.
Snapchat -
9.17.1.0
Xposed -
75 wanam 20151008 - seems to work best for me on both roms instead of v79.
Snapprefs -
1.6.2
is there anything i could do to upgrade or change the following? i use my phone mostly for listening to music, streaming videos and taking pictures or videos in 1080p60 or uhd with the cinema 4k app every now and then and my battery drains fast.

try other kernels. I'm on a ol1 rom with the latest unikernel. I'm getting decent battery life. with the help of greenify my phone lasts the day for me

Upgrade to lollipop and lose Xposed, or stay on kitkat for those awesome modules?

Well?
Personally I'm going to wait for a bit, I've 21 modules atm, probably could live without some, but not all of them.
Still no progress or ETA on xposed for touchwiz either, so it looks like we're stuck for now [emoji30] [emoji30]
Stick with kitkat. To me lollipop brings nothing but limited functionality until xposed is properly working.
Also lollipop has battery life issues. I've downgraded all my devices to kitkat.

I'm using the recently-found TW Lollipop on my T700 and am finding that I'm not missing xposed as much as I thought I would. Still rooted though (mostly for Adaway, Greenify and LMT).
Which modules are you using?
I also stay to kitkat just for xposed.. Even nova can't be shown in landscape tablet mode without xposed / app settings.. So in tablet xposed is actually a must..
Also lollipop is not have battery problem, it is more smooth so there is a dilemma here.. In galaxy s5 lollipop (custom rom) is better than kitkat.
Samsung is doing everything it can to make people not buy products again.. I can understand the knox thing, but can't understand why it is the only company that here products doesn't support xposed. I am sure that if she wanted, it could make its code compatible. Next time i won't buy Samsung, and i am big Samsung fan.. Perhaps if more people do the same, Samsung will get the message...

I completely agree and to attempt to play that one app game of mine that I would love (that literally stopped working)... how can one downgrade back to kitkat? I read somewhere that you can't do that, but you did and I'd like to be pointed in the right direction so I can get kitkat back on my tablet (and actually enjoy it as I went straight to lollipop the minute I pulled it out the box.)

New to Android - Which ROM should I use?

I was WP/iOS user and recently switched to Android. Just got my OP3, which is my first Android device. I am wondering, which custom ROM should I get. I kinda need more battery life and SOT so I want to ditch the OOS.
Do note that I have literally 0 use for fingerprint scanner, android pay and camera (well, not fully but any mediocre quality camera/pictures will work).
Also, I would appreciate if there is any guide or video tutorial, showing the whole process of custom ROM installation.
I would recommend Cyanogenmod 13.0 with Elemental X kernel.
Here is a tutorial to unlock bootloader and install TWRP Recovery
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQoYTvV1PNM
And here is a tutorial on how to install Cyanogenmod 13.0

OOS is a great near-stock rom tbh, but if you still want to try another I'd recommend Sultan's CM
Would recommend you to stay with stock as you may feel all this tweaking thing a bit laggy (coming from iOS , which doesn't let you even customize properly) but for sake of having the taste of tweaking :
Its a 2 part step
1) Unlocking bootloader , installing TWRP , backing up your data (as this will completely wipe out your phone) including whats app (using google drive built-in feature) and messages (using "SMS back up and restore" available in Play Store) . Avoid using links provided in video discriptions

TWRP Recovery : https://dl.twrp.me/oneplus3/twrp-3.0.2-1-oneplus3.img.html
2 ) Installing Custom Rom close to stock with patched Kernal would be better for you to address battery and SOT issue and lot of audio mods , I would suggest freedom OS 1.6 CE ,
Custom ROM :

I'd say OOS on stock has the best battery. If you want some rock hard stability along with battery, go for ElementalX kernel on OOS. If you dont want OOS so badly, then go for sultanxda s rom.

I've never been interested in securing my phone and thought I would not use the FP scanner but found it is the quickest and easiest way to unlock the phone so I use and love it now. Just a quick press and the phone is ready to go instead of a double-tap + swipe etc. I suggest you get familiar with OOS for a while before you jump.
Resurrection Remix Blackjubel is great
There es elementalx Kernel preinstalled
It's smooth and stable and battery life is also good.
And you have many in build Features so you don't have to install xposed.
@arandomdude, this poll might shed some light on your question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/september-rom-kernel-mega-poll-t3456213.

Just at OOS, just root it, install Xposed and use Amplify and Greenify. It'll boost your SOT a lot. Also don't use Chrome browser. It drains battery a lot.
No one can tell you what the best custom ROM for you is as everyone's preferences vary, my advice stick to stock for now . SOT will improve over the first week of usage and you need to get to know the device / OS before choosing a rom to mitigate any perceived weaknesses. Take your time assessing new roms, as I said SOT will take about a week to stabilise. Above all enjoy yourself it only takes a few minutes to flash a new rom do why not try them all.
New to android?
Then start reading, you have a hell lot of things to learn, don't blindly jump into what random users says is good, laziness will damage your phone and diminish your trust in Android

Anyone get V4A to work with Nougat and Magisk?

Hi y'all, first off I have the G920P, just recently upgraded to Nougat QC7 stock ROM, modified and running the SkyHigh kernel v5.01 with Magisk v12. Everything runs pretty smooth, even got Liveboot working successfully (there's a reason I mention Liveboot.) Now I decided to try to get Viper4Android to work. Of course, installing the standard apk fails when it comes to installing the driver. So I tried the V4A Magisk module and it installed fine, however on reboot, my Liveboot no longer works and when opening the V4A app it asks to install the driver, I hit yes and it says it successfully installed and to please reboot. I reboot and of course Liveboot still doesn't show, but otherwise it boots fine. Once I re-open the V4A app it is asking me to install the driver yet again, and the whole system at times seems a bit unstable until I disable the V4A module in Magisk Manager. Does anyone have any ideas, or has anyone gotten this to successfully work? If so I'd love a suggestion lol. I really would like to keep my Liveboot working, but I'd kinda like to get Viper working too. Thanks in advance for any help, suggestions, ideas, etc.
Chuck
I could not get the V4A module to install under Magisk 12; however, it works just fine with Magisk 13.
This is the version that I used: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120735287
Magisk Uninstaller (should not be needed, but if you want it) is here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120735289
NOTE: You are, I believe using the @tdhite kernel, which is based in Magisk 12. Not sure what the impact of installing Magisk 13 will be.
The kernel is fine with Magisk v13 (beta, to be sure is all that is released there). Magisk v13 beta still has problems, so beware. The SkyHigh kernel and module are v13 compatible as much as v12, just so you know. The reason v12 is packaged in is v12 is the only stable Magisk version at this point.
The bigger issue is Magisk v13 beta working stably and reliably, but if you are willing to debug its failures, it's ok. There should be no need to uninstall to upgrade if you want to play. Reloading the kernel flash will cleanly load up v12 if all goes badly.

@koop1955 Thank you for that information! I will bookmark those so I can get back to them once v13 is reliable and stable enough for my kernel
@tdhite Thanks bud as Well! I think I will just stay where I am until the kernel and v13 play nicely. Just got this thing as perfect as I can for now, well other than ram use creeping up, but that's only every now and then, and for another topic. I *might* get my nandroid current and play a little if I get bored and want to tinker. I guess I can safely assume then the reason Liveboot stops working with the V4A module installed is because of Magisk v12...?
Thank you to both of you guys for the help and advice. At least now I know it's not some dumb issue with my device lol.
Chuck
@digitalchaos1980 and @tdhite, I have had a good experience with one particular version of Magisk 13, which is why I added it to my AFH. Other and newer versions...not so much. To be expected with a work in progress.
At some point, Magisk 13 will be final and we can move forward.

Just to be sure, folks realize there is full equalizer support in my SkyHigh kernel and the bands are all adjustable, even per channel if desired, in Synapse, right? Just noting in case that's all you need, because it is a no-CPU-load way of getting it done.

Official Xposed for Nougat now available

Official Xposed Framework for Android Nougat is Here – Download your Favorite Modules Now!
Announcement by rovo89 in XDA thread
Anyone tried it yet? Please give your feedback here.
He also says Xposed for Oreo won't be a long wait!
Tried it on a stock build, rooted, BL unlocked, etc. Installs great. The Youtube adaway works well, greenify doesnt work yet. the others I use arnt supporting N yet. only a matter of time
either way, its safe to install, make sure you install the correct version, and wipe cache on boot, or else stuff breaks
I mainly used (on my Moto X Pure running MM): GravityBox (which is supposed to be ready), Youtube adaway, and Youtube background play. Greenify and Amplify too but not nearly as important on this phone. OG Youtube has given me pretty much the same capability using custom ROMs, though, along with some of the customization you get in Gravitybox. I do wonder about a potential performance hit running the Xposed framework, but it'd sure be nice having the full stock camera functionality again.

Can you please share the direct download link of what needs to be flashed/installed first? It would be great if you can mention the order of flash/install as well? This is for users like me who would be requiring some help.
Also, I have magisk 14 installed on my rooted g5 Plus and am seeing Xposed Installer in the Downloads section? Can you please confirm if this is the official one?

I'm using the GB beta. It's working well for me. No need to flash AOSP anymore
GB has all the things I like to flash LOS for and I don't have to deal with any bugs :good:
I've got it running too, thanks to the favorable feedback getting me to take the plunge after not being on stock for several months. Am using the Youtube Adaway that appears under Installer/Download, then found a Youtube Background Playback module apk that seems to work fine, and the GravityBox/Nougat also as an apk (says it's alpha, not beta). No errors or problems so far and settings are holding after reboots.
I'm really not a big camera user but the stock camera is noticeably brighter and just works way better than those on the custom roms. Viper4Arise (flashed as a zip in TWRP) works on everything but SoundCloud, which I think is a nougat thing because it works on all the oreo roms I tried, but also didn't on most nougat roms.
I'd say it's definitely a go for those wanting to try it, just do some research to see if your preferred modules are working or not, and don't expect it to be perfect yet since it just came out.
