Use : Package Disable Pro from Play store to disable AT&T Software Update app.

That's a problem I didn't expect to see anyone ask...

I just upgraded from the note edge and i loved it up until the last software update to 5.1 which pretty much screwed everything.

My phone has been really slow and buggy after the 3.70 update...have you experienced any crashes?
I didn't get any crashes yet and luckily I uninstalled my swype beta version before I got this. But I hate blockbuster and amazon kindle. I really want to root now so badly but I want to know if the old root method still works?

How to completely disable updates, including the pop up prompts

Hello, I am trying to keep my 3aXL on android 9. I've tried 10, and my essential mods I want don't work on stock, and I found 10 it's self to be a buggy mess personally. I have already disabled automatic system updates in the developer options, but I also want to disable the prompts that try to pop up right under your finger at random times trying to get you to click update and have no confirm prompt. I have had to completely reflash my phone twice because the prompt just pops up randomly when i'm scrolling through an app or something. If anyone could point me in the right direction to completely disabling updates and prompts it would be a huge help.
Thanks!

I know this isn't exactly the answer you want... But... If you root your phone in Android 9 it will not stop the update notifications but it will make the update fail so you will remain on Android 9 no matter what.
As far as actually stopping the notifications you have to remove update services which you cannot do without root and what services i can't say as haven't done this since like Ice cream sandwich. Also almost all custom roms disable upgrade as well.
All that said i agree with the above 10 is better in almost every way and 9 is now very outdated and insecure.

No that's very helpful thank you. I am rooted already. I have been looking around for a thread or guide on how to disable the update services but to no avail. Not sure if i'm just not looking in the right places or searching for the wrong things but if you could give me a run down on how to do so, or point me towards another thread that explains how to do it that would be great. Thanks!

What mods are you trying to use? How long ago did you try Android 10. Compatibility always seems to better with time and Android 10 has been out for 6 months now. Plus, it your mods haven't been updated to be compatible with Android 10, they aren't going to be. They also won't work with Android 11 either. How long are you going to hang on to the outdated (security updates) Android 9? At some point you are going to have to bite the bullet and move on.
As far as Android 10 being a buggy mess, I don't think anyone is going to agree with you.
Opie, I totally understand your plight. I remember I had an exploit and needed to turn off the system prompting me to update for like a year and a half before I figured out the new way of doing things on the new version of Android.
I think the app was called titanium freeze. It was many years ago.

Any reason to NOT update to latest android from 8.0.0?

Hi all, finally got off my lazy butt and opened my 'new' xz2 compact [H8314].
Planning on unlocking bootloader, updating to sony's latest android 10, then put the official lineage 17.1 on it in that order.
Is there anything I might want to do before upgrading to sony's latest os?
I remember with my last 3 androids, there were certain things that only worked if you hadn't updated the os.
Exploits like ta-backup and such only worked on the lowest versions.
Is there anything like that for this device?
Or totally fine to connect to internet and start the update after unlocking bootloader.
Or should do update 1st then bootloader?
With 10 comes cpu cycle wasting scope storage.
Trusted overlay apps won't work.
Apps like Karma Firewall loss key functionality as well as other trusted apps.
I would upgrade no further than Pie.
Pie is a fast, very stable platform and what I run on my Note 10+. Zero issues.
Android has hit a dead end☠

I never got to use Oreo as I went straight from Kitkat to Pie.
Pie is an excellent platform, fast, very stable and does everything I need it to.
No security issues that ever required a factory reset.
Karma runs A-OK on Pie

Any major flaws/issues with Android 11/One UI 3.0/3.1 ?

Hi, I just got a Note 10+ and I haven't transferred over to it yet. I was playing around with it and before I knew it, the Android 11 update was pushed to it and as y'all know it forces it's way in even after you disable it. So far with minimal apps and no sim card, the phone seems fine. There are some missing edge panels I can't access anymore in the galazy store or google play for that matter.
That being said, are people here generally happy about Android 11? What are some well knwon issues?
I have been skeptical about Samsung phones since my Note 8 to Note 9. As they get updates, the phones start running more clunky. Almost like they purposefully want you to upgrade.
Android 11 (one UI 3.1) is all I know on this phone. I came from the Note 4 and S5. Just got my Note 10 as well with Android 9 and two days later did a system update to Android 11. For me, it was about 10 updates in a row and 2 or 3 of them were roughly 2GB. I should have done factory reset before doing the updates, but then again, I didn't have the phone that long before doing it. I wish there was a setting for the transparency on the notification pull down, apps drawer, recent apps, etc but's faily tastefully done. They give the option to change the tranpsarncy on the lock screen but not the main screen which is backwards. I don't like the new fat vertical volume sliders. They look nice but harder to use because your finger's in the way. LOL. The horizontal ones were wider than these are tall. Some say Android 11 is slower and harder on the battery. The battery life isn't as good as I hoped.
I don't have issues with Edge Screens missing in the Galaxy Store in Android 11. Never used Google Play for edge screens. but then again, I never used Edge Screens before, so I wouldn't know what was missing.
One thing I noticed right off the bat is the brightness of the Note10 isn't as bright when the brightness slider is set to the same position as my ancient S5. I put the display setting on Vivid and the white balance/gamma is too red. I put the Cool/Warm slider all the way to Cool and it's still a tad Red.

THere was this edge screen app called Edgeboard that used to be available and was available on my Note 9. It's no longer available
So battery life is shorter and Note 10+ is slower on Android 11. FFS
I don't see Edgeboard in the Galaxy Store. Just repeating what little I read about Android 11 and battery life and performance. Maybe others can chime in. I'm sure it's mentioned in this forum in detail.
Pie is so much better.
I'll never leave 10 or 11 load on my 10+ which is a fast and very stable platform that's running very well. Security is more than adequate.
Some of my best trusted app's functionality be destroyed by the it.
It's big sister crapware

Overlays allowed, no cpu cycle robbing scoped storage, trusted apps like Karma Firewall's logging feature is fully functional.
For a few perks you trade major functionality in the name of security and privacy.
When Google is the biggest imbedded privacy issue to begin with.
As for security... no saving a dumb bunny.
Sorry Gookill, I'm not buying it

I gave you an app example of an overlay and one reason why scoped storage is undesirable.
Here's what I can see in Karma running on Pie.

That was a stock one I think... be careful what you allow to update or flash.
If you have a fast, stable platform that is fulfilling its mission, leave it be.

That sounds good but again these updates are forced down your throat. Did you mention a program that can block them?

You need to block the carrier update apk. Conversely if it downloads clearing the system cache (or maybe a factory reset) should clear it if it hasn't flashed yet. Last ditch effort and not a good long term solution.
If you avoid/ turn off wifi to stop the update that won't work forever because the update apk can turn on wifi and any other apks it needs as well as certain towers (AT&T probably other carriers too) are "update" towers that will download the update fast.
I use a package disabler to keep my updater neutered. https://www.packagedisabler.com/
An ADB edit is also another way to get it done on a unrooted stock phone.
Carriers like AT&T can block updates on their end if you pester them enough
Get it done asap whichever solution you choose.

Question Update to android 13 one ui 5 and debloat problems

Hi. I did a debloat to my Samsung a32 4g. I manually adjusted the list so it won't remove stuff I need, but I realised that I don't have dolby atmos anymore. Is there any way to get it back?
I also was thinking to update to new android 13 update which I still didn't do.
Because after debloat, phone works faster than new and that is amazing! I'm afraid that it will become more slow after update. Do you know is it true? Or if I will debloat it again it will be OK?
I found that dolby atmos maybe connected to this line com.sec.android.app.soundalive?
I was thinking if I do an update, all the bloat will be back, and I will use the debloat list again, only I will also remove that line so it won't delete. Does android 13 one ui5 requires any additional debloat list and apps and where to find it?
Thanks so much for help
Oh and I also wanted to ask is there any decent screen recorder available because these from
Playstore are laggy and slow. On my old xiaomi I could do this in a second and have a small size good quality file ready to send immediately. I'm having problems with that as there was no pre installed screen recorder lol

search for galaxy s20 ultra debloat list. it is universal for all samsung phones. also, using adb to unbloat is kinda bad cuz some apps just reactive themselves, so i suggest you to root your phone and install the Knox Patcher if u want secure folder, private share etc back

HI there. to get dolby back if you used that gui adb tool you could easily restore. for now i think factory reset is your only option unlessand until we get the dolby's app name so you could reinstall it.
As for the update part let me tell you one ui 5.1 update i did feel it is smoother. I only used it for a while before switching to a custom gsi. But it felt way smoother. Although note it includes a binary bump. The latest one ui firmware is not downgradable. you wont be able to go back to android 12 or android 11

You can use RecMe screen recorder at max bitrate possible, and yeah, back when i used to have this phone, it was laggy recording videos, this phone actually sucks in almost everything. Don't talk about your xIaOmI phone on samsung forums please, but as you started saying about it imma finish it... xiaomi phones have a far lighter user interface, that is MIUI, but it is really really bad and actually spies you, and meh, i hate these chinese phones for this exact reason, spying. you could use my floating.xml tweaks if rooted. Otherwise using a third party app is the way to go. Tbh my experience on gsi's has been better than one ui.
