Please help 2.11.425.7 firmware - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my phone, installed TWPR 2.8 on it. Now i want to go back to stock to take OTA but can't seem to find any stock recovery for my firmware. Thus, i can't even boot into recovery mode. Please help

I don't know if this work but I should try to flash the 1.32 recovery. To get back to stock (S-ON) you need to be as stock as possible (unroot, etc.) then relock the bootloader and flash a RUU. Hope I helped

Could someone help me?

So I'm trying to flash my phone back to the stock rom, and unroot it cause i need to use my warranty to receive a new phone. So I attempted to flash back to the oldest flash i had in recovery, and yet it wont flash back to stock, i even tried to clear storage and such. And yet that still doesn't work. So i was wondering can anyone or point out the way of helping me get the original stock roms and how to unroot it. Please and Thank you.
What you need to do is flash the RUU for your Hboot...if on 2.10...use the 3.70 RUU and if on the latest, use the one appropriate for that. You can do the RUU by downloading an exe of it, or in the bootloader via PC36IMG file [easier]. Be sure to run the unrevoke s-on tool in recovery to get s-on BEFORE running the RUU.

[Q] OTA after flashing interim CWM

Hi,
first, my former device was a Samsung Galaxy S and i'm quite familiar with flashing ROMs and such on that device. The HTC One X is my first HTC device so i'm new in flashing and HTCs.
I used the method described in the below thread to flash CWM to my HTC One X
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579797
My question now is this, can i receive OTAs with CWM flashed on my device? It is implied in the thread that i need the stock recovery to do so.
There is a stock recovery image supplied in this thread. Can i flash it to any strock ROM version or do i need the specific one for my ROM version and if so where can i get this version?
In order to flash CWM i had to unlock the bootloader, do i need to revert this for OTAs?
Thanks for your answers.
Hey,
with Clockworkmod flashed, you cant install OTA updates, you have to flash stock recovery and relock your bootloader.
If you have a custom rom, you have to install Stock RUU to recieve and install OTAs.

You need stock rom and stock recovery. If your stock rom is just rooted, that's fine, but if you deleted system apps or modded, it might not work.
To install stock recovery you need to be unlocked, but unless you relocked, you're good to go.
You don't need to relock to install OTA.
To install RUU, you need to be relocked, but you don't need to install the stock recovery.
Edit: Urgh, that was quite a bump from the guy above. But the correction is still useful.

[Q] return to stock_stock rom

Guys,
1- I unlocked my phone and rooted but still I have stock rom. Only thing I rooted phone was take away the bloody apps provided by HTC.
2- Now I was thinking if I can unroot my phone if I flash stock recovery and re lock my boot loader. Problem here may create also the SU app which allows me to be superuser.
Can I uninstall with titanum and follow second point to re-flash stock recovery and re-lock bootloader.
Would it mes sup my phone or no? ( I have read the other posts to return back to stock but non of them is to return to stock from stock rom).
Or do I have to flash again form very begging?
I have the RUU.exe and other nand back up from forum, but I preferred the current ROM without annoying apps.
Reason why I would like to go to stock recovery is about charging issue on recovery and bootloader. I flashed the latest recovery yesterday 5.8.4.0 but it does not charge battery, no red light no nothing. I read in the forum that to some people recovery 5.8.4.0 charge some phones but mine doesn't. Strange!!!
Also is it normal that even I power down the phone through bootloader when I connec to PC it recognize the phone for USB mass storage and even it gives me some info though adb commands, such as serial no etc.
I'm on JB 3.14.70724
Hboot 1.36
CID HTC__044
Thanks for helping me
Edit : what do you want to achieve ? You are on the latest JB hboot and software ! Just describe what you want in a simple sentence
You want stock recovery ? Just flash the stock recovery and you are done.
Simply I want to flash stock recovery, relock bootloader, and delete superSU.
And then ? This doesn't change anything to the look and feel of the rom.
You can flash stock recovery, this make no changes to the rom. You can lock the bootloader, this make no changes to the phone, you can delete SU app....also no changes to the phone ... only thing is that you can't do anything that requires root acces.
Thanks a lot.

Needing repair in warranty: Back to stock having a 3.18 based Rom

Hello Everyone, as in the subject, my touch isn't working, so i need to ship my phone(under warranty) to the technical center,
so, I wanted to relock the bootloader and use a ruu .
Here it's my problem, i tryed many many method, but i cannot use the latest available ruu (3.14.x) since i installed before the originale stock 3.18.x rom.
The ruu. exe give me every times the error 140, even if i try after rewriting boot.img, signed_recovery.img and so on.
I tryed many things, but i cannot do it, so here my questions:
1) Someone already have the right working solution?
2) i thought to flash a stock rom based on 3.14.401.31 and retry to use the ruu, so can someone give me a link to download a "old" rom like that?
3) other suggests?
Thank you very very much in advance for your help!

Flash a custom recovery and then flash a stock 3.18 nandroid inc boot image that matches your cid. Once the nandroid has been flashed, flash the stock recovery and relock the bootloader. Perform a factory reset to remove the previous users data. You should then be able to send the phone back to HTC
Hope it helps

first of all thank you for your reply,
I already try to restore a 3.18 nandroid, downloaded from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975140 (cid 032)
I restore it by trwp, but i was some problem, the touch doesn't work, after check and recheck i thought that the problem was in boot.img, so i try to download the 3.14 boot.img and i flash it, but i had same result, i tryed with others and every times i have a different problem, the last, i have no gsm signal and it looks like the phone had no imei.
Maybe i just need a correct boot.img, but i still didn't find it
do you think i'm right?

I would flash the firmwire zip again.
Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38781030&postcount=29
It contains the new touch image, stock recovery, boot image etc
If that does not help you could flash a stock rom created by Mike1986 using trwp or cwm. Flash the stock recovery and then lock the bootloader.

Ok, the first suggest didin't work, but with the second suggest i flash the stock rom (odexed version) i flash the recovery, i lock the bootloader.
Now it looks ok!
I hope this topic could be useful to someone else: the only way (at least in my case) to have a stock rom if in the phone was a 3.18 version, is to upgrade to that 3.19....i don't know why, but...that's it!

Thats good to know that you got it back to stock. You should be able to send it back to be repaired.
And if you have trouble with TWRP touch(and you will because of flashing new firmware in stock JB OTA) you need to use TWRP 2.4.0.0 from main TWRP page but only TWRP 2.4.0.0 with JB string at the end, or TWRP 2.5.0.0 repacked also to work with JB from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40120901&postcount=509, and because of upgrade to JB firmware in this versions of TWRP you have touch but no mont usb storage and adb working in recovery, i think that new CWM 6.0.3.0 have adb support and mount usb storage but no touch..

M9 soft bricked after 7.0 update

Hi guys,
I've updated my M9 to 7.0 through OTA update. After installing my phone boots directly in to the bootloader. I can enter download and recovery mode without any trouble but that's about it. When i try to boot in to the phone it boots back to the bootloader. My phone is S-ON so i can't flash a RUU through ADB, however the phone is unlocked.
I tried to flash a RUU through the external micro SD card method but that failed because the firmware is lower than my firmware.
Current M9 Status:
*Unlocked*
S-On
Firmware 4.14.401.7
Stuck in bootloader/recovery/downloadmode
I tried everything to my knowledge. Is there someone who encountered the same problems as i do? Or is there someone who knows a solution to all of this?

Some questions:
Did you have a completely stock device when you applied the OTA?
Did it ever successfully boot into Nougat, or did the OTA immediately result in the current condition?
I wonder if you could either flash TWRP or use it via your computer (there's a way to run it in your phone without installing it) so that you could apply the OTA again. I'm not sure if it would fix whatever went wrong, though.
Alternatively, you could flash a ROM (again, via TWRP), obtain S-OFF, change your MID & CID to the developer version and apply that RUU.

S-ON is no obstacle to flashing TWRP or another ROM. You will need to unlock your bootloader in order to do either but I assumed that you had already done this since you posted that your status is unlocked.

The phone status is indeed unlocked.
I didn't know I could flash TWRP or a ROM. I thought I needed S-OFF for that.
I want my phone to be as stock as possible. Can I flash a stock ROM or does it have to be a custom one.
And do i need to flash TWRP in order to flash a ROM?
So i've searched around and came to the conclusion to fix my phone is to flash TWRP first. After that FLASH a custom ROM, if that goes as planned S-OFF my phone with the SunShine method. After that go back to stock and hope everything goes well.

That's the route I would take too. The readme thread has a section dedicated to changing your SKU in order to use other RUUs.
