Some articles are saying between January, February, March, or April.
I'm pretty sure, it's January! ?
There's no news, but hopefully on April as old news.
spoke to a guy at the Samsung kiosk at Best Buy a few days ago and he said
they are expecting 6.0 in about 2 weeks. they updated me from 4.4.4 to 5.1.1
a few weeks ago when i bought the Note.
I got an ota today but I have no idea what it entailed. I'm still 5.1.1. Lol

I wouldn't trust anything the Best Buy guys say. When 5.1.1 was first released, I went to get it flashed and they refused to do it because I was using Nova Launcher. They claimed that because it wasn't the stock launcher, I had modified my phone, therefore they couldn't help me. I simply uninstalled Nova and then they were willing to flash.
I mean, our phones have locked bootloaders, so I CAN'T modify my phone even if I wanted to. Not to mention that 3rd party launchers are only software, available on the Play Store, and are NOT modifications to the phone.
Oh, and also, while I was getting the phone flashed (finally), I watched as they were helping a guy who was using the stock email app and was able to receive email, but couldn't send anything. The BB guy spent an hour calling the email provider's tech support. All the problem was, was that the guy had improperly put in the outgoing server settings. Easy fix that doesn't even take 5 minutes to fix.
Simply put, these guys only know 3 things:
1) how to sell
2) how to flash or factory reset
3) whatever the specs on the box say

Hello guys. I just updated my Galaxy Note 4 AT&T SM-N910A. It was in 4.4.4 so I downloaded the 5.1.1. I flashed with Odin. Now it stuck on "Android is starting" and restarts all the time.

Hi, I normally root my phone with Touchwiz ROMs. The last two I used was the one modeled after the Verizon one with multi window and Frost or Wicked, I don't remember the name of it. I had problems with both. Both roms caused speaker/radio issues from my end where I spoke on the phone and people could hardly hear me. After I unrooted my first S3, the problems persisted. I got a replacement S3, and that one had problems receiving phone calls half the time after the unroot on that device. My S3 got sent back to the manufacturer for a replacement. Is there a problem with me rooting or using the wrong roms? Or could I have had two defective devices in terms of hardware? Software resets didn't solve this issue btw. I just want to know if rooting my 3rd S3 will be wise or not?

Sounds like a hardware issue, because unrooting is done with a stock .tar file with ODIN that flush your S3 and fully restore it. Or... the ROM itselft endomaged your S3 ( like the CPU that been overclocked will be one day damaged). But it's about the speaker and radio that is wierd. Odin it and reset the flash counter, ask a new one (say that it reboot severals time in a day, they will thing that you have a Sudden Death S3 tik toking to his death.)
Lets us know what have you done

Yep, I already did that thanks. I sent it in last week. Got there on the 8th of March. T-Mobile hasn't sent it back yet. They said it was still processing. I told them to speed it up and they did a "handset" research form and they said they couldn't find it. I gave the a tracking # and said there is my proof. They said they will email me or call me on Monday with regards to my specific case. They might overnight me one by Tuesday. I have had too many problems trying to get a replacement S3. I have the 16 GB Pebble Blue one and that was discontinued 2 months ago. They have the Titanium Grey one, so I told them to send me either a 32 GB Pebble Blue one (not discontinued), a 16 GB White, or 16 GB Titanium Grey. They said that would be up to warehouse I sent it to. So only time will tell. I hope I get a White S3 though. It looks the best. I really think I will end up with a Blue one regardless because companies are picky with people getting color changes ex post purchase. I just don't want to give up the ability to root at all because it is the best way to get the latest updates because devs have the ability to write the source code, which I don't have. I absolutely hate coding because of my experiences with C++.

I've never heard of T-Mobile making you send in your phone first..? Their warranty process includes sending you out a new (refurb) phone, then you sending the defective one back with the included box.

Hey guys,
I had to call in a replacement Galaxy S6 Edge due to several issues with the launch unit I had, I received it yesterday and noticed, I'm still not on 5.1.1 on this replacement. My previous one was on 5.1.1 no problem, this one... not so much.
I've tried using Smart Switch, I've tried using "software update" in settings, and they keep telling me my phone is up to date.
I'm on Android 5.0.2 and it will not upgrade. Any tips to get this going?
Take it to your nearest Tmobile store, they can upgrade it "safely" for you.
Pp.
So I went into T-Mobile and they said they cannot do it, but suggested I go to the Samsung Experience Shop in Best Buy, went there, and I swear this guy was a moron. I work in IT and we refer to them as "KJEADs" because they know just enough and dangerous.
Anyway, he bricked my phone....
They had to call Samsung and Samsung, T-Mobile , and Best Buy issued me a new phone right there in the store after two long hours. I left with a new phone, a gift card and a credit on my bill. So not too shabby. The problem remains though, I still can't update my damn phone! Could it be my SIM card?
I don't know, I'm downloading ODIN right now, but unfortunately I too am classified as "KJEADs" with phones so lets hope this doesn't happen to me either.

maybe this will work,j root your phone install a 5.1.1 rom or update the modem and bootloader then twrp then odin stock 5.1.1 or install a 5.1.1 rom
Success, using ODIN worked perfectly. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.
The fact that some new phones can't pickup 5.1.1 update could be an indication that another release is around the corner.

What is the logic behind that?
In my particular case, according to the Samsung guy, updates were turned off in the setting. Not entirely sure what that means but its the reason why I couldn't update.

Sounds like "user error".
Your not supposed to turn off "updates".
Phone comes with this feature "on".

That's what I thought too but its not "user accessible" at least not to my knowledge, nor was it to Samsung, T-Mobile, and Samsung experience technicians. If you know where I can find it I'd like to learn!

I bought an unlocked Note 2 in the summer of 2013.
I happily used it until Christmas when it 'disappeared' in our house. My toddler daughter had hidden it somewhere.
Despite turning the house upside down it was never found and I reluctantly moved backwards to older phones I already had.
Nearly 2 years later and a builder found it hidden away in our spare room.
I know have my phone back which has been in hibernation for 18 months. It is running 4.4.1 and my question is this.
Despite it now being old I would like to upgrade the firmware to the best I can for the device without it slowing down. Please can someone recommend an upgrade and where I can find it. Phone is not rooted so will I have to do this?
Thanks in advance for your time.
There is no 4.4.1 for the note?

Good news that you found your phone. Probably your firmware is 4.1.1 and not 4.4.1 because 4.4.1 not exist and also you have to update this firmware immediately because of sds bug. If you don't know about it Google it. There are plenty of roms at forum and also plenty of instructions how to flash a custom rom and also how to update at latest official if you don't prefer custom.

Thanks for your reply Vagsvag. Just checked and it's running 4.4.2. I think it automatically upgraded something when I turned it on and logged in for the first time (sorry I'm not very savvy). In your opinion will this suffice or is there a newer platform I can safely download. I did a cursory bit of research on Google and it looks like 'Android L' is the last one offered for the Note 2, but I couldn't see if it was ever confirmed. I'll do some more research on here. I'd rather not load up a custom rom as when I did that to my last phone (S2 and the Lite'ning Rom) the phone became very glitchy. Perhaps things have improved in the last 5 years.

4.4.2 is the latest official, for newer version of Android you must go to custom rom, cm or aosp, there are also some roms transfered from official s3 firmware android version 4.4.4. My opinion is if you are ok with speed, response etc stay with this only root it to remove junk apps and block the ads. Now if you want something little bit more fresh you can try cm base, one of the more stable is Ivan_Meler's cm 12.1 at original android forum.

Thank you for all your help. I've rooted the phone which seems to make everything quicker. I'll stick with 4.4.2 for now but will have a look at CM12.1 at some point.
Ivan Meler CM 12.1, Best ROM so far. Whenever you plan to get in the CUSTOM ROM Zone !!!
Hi, I purchased this phone about a week ago and have loved it so far. I saw that Android 7 came out a day ago but when I search for updates I get the message that my device is up to date even though it's on 6.0.1. I have not rooted my phone yet (or even unlocked my bootloader), in short I have not messed with my phone yet, it's as it was when it came from the box (except for the OTAs installed).
All I can think the reason for this may be my region since I live in Pakistan. With my previous phone, I used to get the OTAs on time but this is my first nexus phone and I'm a bit disappointed that I'm not getting the update as soon as it is rolled out if that really is the case. Also, does anyone have an idea when I'll get my update?
this is called a staged rollout. it is to ensure the stability of the update servers as well as to grant google a chance to put an update on hold and safe the majority of the trouble, should critical errors come to light during the early phase of a rollout

You will get OTA update in first 2 weeks of the month, I always get about 15th day in the month, so don't worry.
How mate said, you can use android beta program, just you will get final update and after upgrade just leave android beta program

For those who received their XLs in February after the delay (who ordered in November/December), have you been experiencing issues? I had trouble activating the phone and ever since, my cellular connection has been spotty. Even when it says its connected, texts and calls sometimes fail to go through or drop. Despite the reviews, I have experienced some lag and freezes. And my battery life definitely does not last a day (I have to charge it twice a day for moderate to light use with 2 hours screen on time). I wonder if this is common with the new batch of XLs that were shipped out or if, I hope, I just received a faulty device.
Try flashing the new Feb factory image, it will wipe all data and be a complete factory reset. Try that it will most likely fix any issue or issues.
I'm completely stock (locked and unrooted) and have done a couple factory resets. I'm on the latest build. Would it still help? If so, how do I do it?

Go to the link below and follow googles instructions. Pick the feb image that is in the Marlin section and listed for Verizon and most others, unless your on rogers which the other is supposed to be for rogers which is in Canada.

Is you're phone from vzw or directly from Google.

Oh sorry about that I looked past the part where you listed your stock and locked. Since your all factory I would call verizon and let them troubleshoot it, or if you bought through the google play store contact google cs about it, because you cant flash factory images with a locked bootloader.
Thanks for the replies! I bought it directly through Verizon and they will be sending out a replacement (in a couple weeks tho :/). I'm just wondering if anyone else with a February-delivered XL has been dealing with these issues.

No problem here. Got mine last week.
Picked up mine from a corporate Verizon store a week ago and my cell connection is garbage. No service 30% of the time for no reason. Not to mention, the wifi calling keeps disabling itself. I going to try a factory wipe and reflash a Google image to see if that helps.

Are you running a custom rom or stock ? Honestly I get better signal and performance running the rom Pure Nexus and the Elemental x kernel. If your on stock I would recommend giving Pure Nexus a try and Elemental x also.
I got my pixel xl at the beginning of feb, thru verizon, so far no problems. The pixel xl definitely doesnt get the same reception as my g3 did/does. All i can say is thank god im not having any issues with wifi calling, cuz i now get zero bars at my home. Purenexus is pretty nice, but i saw no gain in reception using it but ymmv. The only other thing is with substratum on PN, regardless which theme i choose they all set the color of links in irc for android to the same color as the background.

Guess what? Verizon shipped a regular Pixel instead of an XL! Verizon has been messing up and misleading at every freaking point. This is unacceptable on so many levels. And they charged me for it!
And they no doubt will make it right. Ffs anybody or company if you prefer, can make mistakes, nobodies perfect. But, because verizon is everyones favorite whipping boy any and all oopses are just dogpiled onto. Give just a tiny bit of room for human error, believe me, they undoubtedly will do something else before long to incur everyones anger.

Of course, I understand this is a mistake and human error is normal. But, it can be frustrating for someone after ordering a phone, it taking two months to be delivered with constantly being told different dates and information each time they contact Verizon, being promised a fee being waived by one rep but then being told otherwise by another, and then again being promised it but it not being applied after multiple calls. Then, the same thing occurs with a Daydream View. Then, when the phone finally arrives, it has cellular and battery issues. Then, when a replacement phone is promised, it turns out the be the wrong one. And this is just a summary. I had to speak with Verizon multiple times for different things and the customer service to address these issues was not so great.
To update on this situation, they now tell me I need to wait for this phone to arrive and activate it, in order to return it for a refund and receive the correct replacement without charge. So I still have to wait another couple weeks to enjoy a usable Pixel XL :/
I feel your pain, ordered mine dec 15th, i also kept getting diff shipping dates, was literally on the phone cancelling my order when the shipped e-mail arrived. I didnt have a clue about the vr headset until fedex dropped it off on monday cuz i had not returned their call that previous fri.
I can understand your frustration, and tbh, had forgotten the litany of mishaps you had already gone thru, i just see and read so many gripe fests against them, and most of them are from people that are mad about the locked bootloader and they then blame them for world climate change, dropping birthrates, famine, pestilence and hillary losing. Allbeit, that last one i for one would praise them for, if it were their doing.
Anyhoo, dealing with most any corporation can and often is a PITA, but ill say this, after six years, verizon has not once failed to make it right by me. The wait has rarely been very long, but it has happened.
Hope they fix it for you sooner rather then later.

I got a QB and a VS Pixel XL in February. No problems at all. I live in a rural area and both my wife and I had Samsung GS4 phones before these. I actually get a little better reception I believe.
The only problem I've run into is Trusted Voice doing its auto-disable thing, but I applied the workaround and haven't had any problems since.
My battery life is really good. I play Pokemon Go with my kids and use my phone as a hot-spot, and I can still get through a full day. Though, if I'm around a charger when the phone hits 50% I just charge it anyway.

That's good to hear! It means I just received a faulty device and the replacement should work fine. I was worried that the new batch may have all come out like this since perhaps Google rushed their production by reducing time for quality checks or something like that.
I still haven't received a replacement :/ Verizon keeps sending a regular Pixel by accident.
Anyways, from the many conversations I've had with them, they eventually admitted that the February XL's have had multiple reports of issues with activation, like mine did.
Did anyone else have activation and cellular issues? If so, how are your phones doing now?
