[Q] Android is upgrading...? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since the last update (174) on every reboot, my phone shows this message for a few seconds(see attached img).
It's not causing any trouble, but this is annoying me, as clearly there is something wrong with the system.
Has anyone faced this problem or know how can I solve this? Or what can be causing this?

Youcould try wiping cach as theremight be remnants causing this. Just remember though, if you do it through recovery it WILL take a while... DON'T restart in the middle or you might cause other issues...
It's easier using fastboot - "fastboot erase cache", really quick then...

Market Issue

Today I had several reboots on my Desire. After the third I decided to do a hard reset.
Since rebooting the Android Market has been REALLY slow.
It will find apps and let me install them, however the screen doesn't change after the install - it keeps saying installing. The only way to remove the "installing" message is to reboot
I have tried several reboots, reflashed the stock T-Mobile UK ROM and I have formatted the SD card, but none of these have fixed it.
I get the same using WiFi or mobile internet (vodafone UK)
Anyone having the same issue, or got any ideas how to resolve it??
Cheers

See below...
Try THIS!
If not then just wait as the Market on googles servers needs time to catch up with the diffrent build numbers changed, since a flash i belive
Mine took personally after everyflash at least a hour to start even working a bit.
EDIT: Maybe if it carries on being very slow, maybe something happened in the flash whilst in recovery, and has written some data to some bad sectors, causing this issue << only spectulation tho!

Thanks for the link, but I tried that already (after searching for this issue!)
It didn't resolve either issue for me (the slow market, or the installing issue) nor did other threads, hence me starting this one.
Any further help would be appreciated

Lol, i ment delete my post
Then referred to my second post.
Soz for the confusion
Still having this issue.
I have tried the close market place and clear cache/data idea, but no joy
I have now re-formatted (after a factory reset and clearing storage in bootloader) but it still sticks on installing in market even though the app installs fine.
Please help!
Slow for me today as well, stock Desire.
Maybe give it a day?
Okay, its been a few days now and I am still having the never ending install and slow market issue.
Surely I cant be alone??

Black screen of death

Upon every reboot I get the following error message:
Your device is unable to boot because either you have turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an application from untrusted source... ... ...
It goes on to say press the UP VOL button to hard reset or any other button to continue.
I press any other button and it proceeds to boot correctly.
Any way to disable the message?
VZW TP2 - Stock 6.5 ROM
EDIT / UPDATE: If don't touch anything when it is on this screen it will eventually continue to boot normally... so again I would just like to disable this message if at all possible.
Anybody???
Or maybe an idea of where to look for log files so I can tell what specifically is causing it?
I've had the same message at least twice now. Almost had a heart attack the first time. Mine also rebooted fine after a minute or so. Not sure what caused this.
For me this happens everytime I reboot.
I did a hard reset and after installing and configuring everything, it is happening again.
It isn't affecting anything, just annoying.
Anybody?
Having this screen come up after every reboot is really annoying.
Surely somebody has had this happen before..
after you hard reset did you reinstall all your applications again... is that what you mean by configured it? If so it's likely one of your programs that's causing it. If you didn't install anything and it still pooched out like that then, well I'm stumped!
It started happening after I installed everything, but everything works on it.
There has to be some type of log file somewhere that will tell me what is causing it
You may just want to go and take the time to install a program and then see if it happens... when you get to the one that you know causes it.. uninstall it and see if the issue is still there. If not then carry on with installing all your other aps you have left doing the same thing to see if any of them cause the issue. It may take some time to do but it cant take along longer then waiting around for someone to chime in on some advice for you. Gotta do what you gotta do right?

Issues on CM7 1.0-RC1.5-jordan-signed

First of all, I would like to thank everyone involved in making our Defy's so awesome.
Thanks to you all, as after getting all the info and help, I was successfully able to
upgraded to CM7 1.0-RC1.5-jordan-signed, and after few initial hiccups everything is working fine. Except the battery drainage issue. And I have been loving the new look and feel of my Defy ever since.
Today Morning. I've started getting a new problem. Whenever I want to call someone and I go to contacts, it force closes itself with following error:-
"The Process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have restarted the phone and no respite from the problem.
Help please....
Did you change something or install a new app immediately before this started to happen ? Did you restart your phone while it was still connected to the PC or so? Some other people solved this problem by doing a factory reset. But you need to find the specific reason or cause in your case and correct that.

Well, the last thing I did last night was that I installed two ADW themes. and also downloaded few wallpapers.
Do you think, the themes could have created this problem?

As there is, according to my information, no standard cause for this problem, everything could be the reason. Other people reported this error on different devices too and the reasons were diverse.
Some have had the problem after installing a new app, others due to rebooting the phone while it was still connected to the pc. Others made a factory reset and then it worked again and the true reason was never found.
It won't kill you to try and disable/uninstall the new themes or wallpapers (if they are live wallpapers).
Maybe there is another specific well known reason for that out there. In this case I simply don't know one.
If you're lucky, others had the same problem and have identified a more precise cause. Then they will answer hopefully.
I would try to undo the last things you changed before and find out the true cause.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Will uninstall the new themes.
And as you said, Factory reset. If I do that, what exactly will happen.
Asking this because as mentioned before, I'm no longer on the version which came with phone and I am on CM7. so Factory reset will take me to which phase?

Have a look here: https://motorola-global-en-uk.custh...00/~/defy---master-reset-/-factory-data-reset
You may also try fixing permissions before with Rom manager.

well the link tells me what will happen on a stock rom. My question is. If I factory reset on CM7, will it take me to the original state or the default settings of CM7.
Flash cm7 again! maybe it helps.
guys,do i need cyanogen 7.1 installed on my device to install cyanogen 7.5?
Make a backup and try wiping via CWM. Both data and cache partition.

You can flash any CM7 directly via recovery menu if yer on Froyo.

Recenty started getting few more issues.
1.> Phonebook crashing because of FC's. I'm hardly able to use my phonebook now
2.> Last night, messages stopped working. Again FC's.
3.> Today morning the native camera application stopped working.
And I have done following to overcome all the issues with no luck:-
wipes all cache including devik.
Did factory reset
reflashed with CM7 jordon 1.5
All failed to give me any respite from the errors.
Now I have downloaded cm7-110923-0710-Nightly.
Do let me know if this is an OK one. I've faced way too many errors and afraid of showing it off to anyone now as It might crash anytime.
Much to my disappointment, even flashing to newer nightly, I'm still getting the same errors.
Can someone provide me the 3.4.3-36-1.7 SBF? the one in the link provided earlier is not working.
Or any other solution.
The errors are way too much to ignore, and if this continues then I have to go back to Froyo. But I seriously love the new feel of the phone. All thanks to CM7.

Constant Reboots!! PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi guys,
I am using a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and am having a lot of trouble with the device constantly crashing and rebooting.
when this first happened these are the steps i took.
i completely wiped the device (factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition, format system)
i then flashed Baseband 77 using flashtool
i then flashed fxp149 using flashtool
i then flashed Baseband 77 libs using CWM
i then flashed AOKP JB M1-R1 ROM using CWM
i then flashed gapps using CWM
i the reloaded all apps from the market and not applied any backups and yet it still rebooted all the time.
Since then i have tried using
Fusion 3.8
Fusion 3.9
Fusion 4.0
FXP 148
FXP 150
Stock Kernel inside ROM .zip file.
I have also tried putting it back to Baseband 72 but it made no difference.
None of these make any difference to my issue and yet before i had the issue, I had used all of these kernels except FXP 150 and they all worked fine with no issues at all.
I then decided to go all the way back to stock firmware as it is out of the box.
so I used flashtool and flashed LT18i_4.1.B.0.587_(1254-2716).ftf
I reloaded my applications and monitored the device only to see that by the next day, the problem had returned.
I am now at the end of my tether and do not know what else i can possibly do to figure out the issue.
the device has not been dropped or damaged in any way so there is no reason for a hardware fault.
i desperately NEED this device to be working as i use it on a daily basis for my business and cannot live with out it.
IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE THAT COULD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP I WOULD BE FOREVER IN YOUR DEBT!!!!!!!
i also have a logcat that i was running in the background when one of the reboots happened
not sure if that can tell anyone anything but i have it if it does
First flash stock kernel (587), after flash the rom compatible with kernel. Remember full wipe before
have you tried not to restore your apps? Maybe one of them causes the problem. I'd try to stick with the clean (stock) rom an check if it still reboots. If it does I guess your device is ready for ebay
Could be a loose battery, try a bit of paper between the battery and the cover and see if that helps.

yes i am starting to think that may be my next move
will i have an issue with getting it repaired since i have unlocked my bootloader, flashed different kernels and roms and rooted the device?
if so, is there any way i can get it back to official "out of the box" state?
Flash a stock ftf and get the bootloader relocked. Having it rooted is fine

i have come across something quite interesting.
i had someone look at the logcat i had running live when i had a reboot and it showed that the last thing to function before the reboot was wifi scanning. they suggested i try turning off wifi and running the live logcat again to see if any reboots occured.
it has now been just over 48 hours and i have not had a reboot at all. i know is because my terminal session is still running the live logcat.
is there anyone that could suggest why this may be happening?
i mean, i know its wifi that is causing the problem, but would that be a hardware issue that could be fixed under warranty? or something else?
any suggestions are appreciated as always

i don't think i can help, i just wanna say that i had (have) the same problem. I said had/have because probably I still have the issue, but i don't notice it that often. Before, I had my phone set to ask for pin code, but now I have removed it to avoid being unreachable if a restart occurs. I have raised the issue long time ago, but really didn't find any answer. Other ppl had same problem with their phone (look at the thread i started about this issue http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765537)
I also have HTC desire in daily use with CM7.2, that also reboots quite often. So I don't think the phones are broken. More likely it's kenel or rom or app issue, or some combination of those.
If you can tell me how to monitor things, I can do it on both phones, maybe we will figure out what's going on.

if you open a terminal session and type:
su
cd sdcard
logcat >> logcat.txt
it will create a .txt file and put the live logcat info into it.
you need to leave the terminal running in the background to make sure it continues to update
then when you see a reboot just get the logcat.txt file from the sd card and open it in wordpad or something. (notepad doesnt display properly)
have a look at the last thing that happened before the reboot and see what it tells you
mine had info about wifi scanning and showed that it had seen ssids
next step was to turn wifi off to see if the problem stayed or resolved.
good luck!! id love to hear how it goes
