Hi all, I dropped my tablet today and for a few hours later it worked fine but suddenly the touch stopped working and it doesn't charge. Everything else is ok the LCD the buttons even the screen rotates until it shut down due to empty battery. Now battery doesn't charge and I don't know what to do.
Any idea what happened to the tablet?

You can open the back side. Carefully remove the power connector by prying up with a small flat blade. Once removed, let it set for 10 or so minutes, then reconnect and assemble the case cover.
Connect your charge cable and wait a minute... it should show the battery charging image. If not there is damage to the device.
I use a rubberized case cover. A few times I have dropped my tablet fairly hard, and have not suffered any damage.

I have a GN on 4.3, all totally stock. A couple of days ago it stopped charging properly, it now does not charge when powered on. if powered off it will show the large battery icon, then the battery charging animation for three cycles of the animation, the it goes blank, then starts again - the large battery icon then runs through the charging animation three times etc etc. I left it like this overnight and it was fully charged by the morning, I'm guessing in charges for a few seconds then resets.
Any thoughts?!
I'm using the charger it came with, and have tried others but nothing changes. I have had issues with the USB port but have gently cleaned it a few times and its worked fine. There is a possibility that the phone got a bit wet before all this happened, I removed the back and took out the battery and left it in the laundry cupboard overnight before putting it back together, and it was ok for a day.
Love the phone but its kind of unusually at this point, considering buying another battery and external battery charger if nothing else works.
Thanks!
Methinks hardware damage on the phone. Use it as an excuse to buy a new phone

Try to lift the pin in the charging port of phone using a compass needle. Don't apply too much pressure. Just lift it gently a bit up.

The port is obviously going bad. It's not that hard to replace. 6 screws and the back of the phone comes off. Unplug all visible connectors on the motherboard. Make sure you have carefully removed the volume and start buttons that are glued the side of the frame. Remove the motherboard. There is one screw holding down the speaker. When that's removed, unplug the speaker and remove it. The ribbon with the charge port is glued but will come away from the frame with some careful coaxing. Replace it with the new one and re-install the speaker and motherboard. Replace the back housing and you're done.
The port is under $7 on eBay.

looks like lot of people facing the problem right now. was it a self destructible after a fixed period. probably few days/weeks before N5 release.
will try lifting the pin a bit today. it worked for a friend of mine. lets see if it works for me too.. else need to order a replacement port for the same.
Jesus. Mine too. I think google planned it on purpose to self destruct. I actually ordered a new usb port, installed it, and the same **** happens. I don't even know why. I also tried prying the metal connector up a tad with a small screwdriver, still the same. Your symptoms is like the one shown in the following video, correct?

Yes similar problem. Also my battery indicator on the top right is not showing the charging bolt at times even when the phone is connected to wall charger. If you can see the bottom right battery widget, it is showing as charging.

Yes that video is exactly what happens to mine, I'm wondering if its a software thing. I'll have to get a new phone pretty soon if things don't change.
I guys I have the same problem since 09/09/13. I could charge my phone only from computer USB. But there is a problem, I can ONLY charge the phone if I connecto to the computer!
Hello,
Few weeks ago all of a sudden, my G Pro E988 started to shutdown while in my pocket and was not responding to power button until I've removed the battery.
In some cases I've tried to connect it to car or wall charger after the shutdown and it shows 0% battery, but after the battery re-seat, phone starts and it shows the same battery level as prior to shutdown.
Is there a way to pinpoint why this is happening, can some system logs reveal the source of the problem? If yes how can I read those logs and what should I look for? Could this mean the battery is defective? How can I know for sure before I order a replacement battery?
I've looked at the battery contacts and they are clean, also the battery it's well fitted in its place, with no room to budge.
I've tried slightly bending the phone to mimic the behavior from the pocket as I enter\exit the car, the issue cannot be reproduced.
Thanks in advance for any reply!

I have the same problem. My LG-E980 is 2.5 years old. It just started shutting down when in my pocket--have to remove the battery to re-boot, then it works fine. Battery stays charged. It will stay on if sitting flat on desk or car seat. No problem recharging. Tried wedging the battery harder into the contacts, but this did not solve the problem.
Did you replace the battery? did it work?

Fortunately mine was in an extended warranty from my vendor when I finally decided to send it back and they couldn't repair it or replace it according to their terms, so they refunded me the original price and that enabled me to get an LG G4 with a lot smaller financial effort. In my opinion the battery is defective, because it contains a chip which can get broken especially due to high battery temperature. I suggest to get a battery replacement.
Hey guys
I bought a replacement battery and followed this guide. I successfully replaced it and was able to close it back up. However when I connect it to the charger the light appears and the screen turns on for about a second then turns off. I opened it back up to make sure the connections were stable, and they were fine. So i closed it back up again and its doing the same thing and even vibrating every 5 seconds but then stops.
Anyone that has replaced the battery experiencing this as well? Or anything similar? How did you solve it?
I just replaced the battery in mine. Seemed to go well and booted and worked great (seemed to fix the issue I was having of it randomly shutting off). I put it on the charger and it would not charge, so figured I must not have seated the inductive charging cable well enough, so took it back apart. While taking it back apart I managed to rip the display cable in half . Forget this thing I'm done with it.
So, the other day I accidentally dropped my Zenfone. When I picked it up, it had been shut down. I couldn't boot it up anymore after the drop. After like maybe 1 hour I opened the phone up and reattached the battery wire. Then I got it working. But then the problem was that the phone got really hot, even when I wasn't using it.
I waited until the battery was completely dead and then tried to recharge. And now the problem is that the phone won't charge at all. It still gets really hot. When I plug the charging cable in, it just vibrates, shows that it is charging, but then just after 20seconds it stops.
And now I'm asking, what should I do? I also tried to disassemble everything and then assemble everything back again, but with no luck.

Same issue I HAD.
I purchased a LG G7 thinQ off of Craigslist.
Everything was fine minus the back glass being completely cracked and shattered.
I went on eBay and purchased the back glass with the finger print scanner and camera lens included, as well as a new battery (since I was already going to be inside the phone).
Completed the task, charged to 100 with phone off. Two days later as I left for vacation, the battery went from 17% to 10% then it shut off. I couldn't get it to take a charge, at all. So I messaged the eBay battery seller and had him send me a newer one. The previous battery date was 11-02-2018.
Once I got back into town, I opened the new battery and the date was 06-05-2019.
So far so good! I'd suggest watching YouTube and getting a heatgun or hairdryer.
I was in between it being a battery issue or the charging port itself. My back screen is cracked as well I habe always had a case on it but maybe with it being cracked with the humidity moisture has got to the battery???

I have the same problem too, it started after upgrade to android pie
