Video calling from dialer Support - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the 5x support native video calling regardless of what carrier Sim is being used since it states online its active on most 6.0 devices My s7 on marshmallow I had got and had for a few days but returned had it and so did my s6 on 5.1.1
Or whats the method to achieve this such as my nexus 5x video calling wifes Galaxy s6?

Nope, pure Android does not support UMTS video calling and as far as I know only Samsung's TouchWiz does that on Android.

not sure why video calling needs to be in the dialer.
Just use hangouts

using hangouts, you can all anyone else that also uses hangouts, with ot without video.
so you'll need to install hangouts, as will the person on the samsung s7/s7

In addition to the S5,S6,S7 the LG G4,G5 supports native video calling, again only on supported VoLTE networks.

Well there is an option but the problem is it doesn't seem to turn on. Whenever I try to turn on the option then I go back and open it again the option turns off itself. Any help would be appreciated.

isn't that with Skype. Nothing but integrated app software. The my touch 4g had it with qik video calling integration. If I recall it wasn't that great. Just download the app. Which is most likely better than the software integration.

the stock Tmo ROM came with Qik installed for video calling, but it's not integrated into the Dial Pad as the international SGS

Thanks, hope it will get updated soon !
But Google Hangout should work well with the FrontCamera or? Could never try it because of the missing cam in my Milestone 2 :/
Actually for me Skype seems to work mostly fine. I can make calls and send messages but I can't use the front or the back camera. I can see the other person's video feed though.

As with the Bionic, they will have to update the app to specifically work for the Galaxy Nexus front camrta

There is a native 3G video call protocol, usually used in Europe. Not really adopted in the US. Not a whole ton of phones have it.
OP, this has been discussed months ago. No native 3G video calling on the Nexus, have to use an app. There are plenty available.

Yes, it is new information to me. Now that we have ruled out the "native" option, Tango is a good vid chat app.

it's your carrier blocking it. you need root and this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innodroid.gtalkenabler#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmlubm9kcm9pZC5ndGFsa2VuYWJsZXIiXQ..
works perfect
this app is same that is used in iphone, to paypass the rule of wifi and trick the phone to think it is over wifi and it is on 3G to do video call

Does anyone know how to make a normal video call on this device???
I'm curious about this too. Is it possible to make video call on the 3G network?
Why would they put a front camera, if video calling is not possible?
Dude.. It's not possible for a long time. You know why? Because nobody uses it. 3G video calling sucks.
Why bother when Skype or better Google Hangouts offer this. There are many popular video calling apps. These were just 2.
Android does not have 3G video enabled by default. It does not exist in the code and no manufacturer bothers with this.
Just find out what your friends are using.. Or convert them to hangouts because it's simple to use.

Does ACR or any of these other apps support 2-way voice recording? And does this app need it's own dialer or does this work with the native phone dialwr?

90% of the calls I make are with a Bluetooth headset. Can anyone confirm that call recording works to record both sides of the conversation while using a Bluetooth headset? Any volume issues? Thanks in advance!
