Use Skype )
So is it not possible to make a video call using the dialer?

Does anyone know how to make a normal video call on this device???
I'm curious about this too. Is it possible to make video call on the 3G network?
Why would they put a front camera, if video calling is not possible?
Dude.. It's not possible for a long time. You know why? Because nobody uses it. 3G video calling sucks.
Why bother when Skype or better Google Hangouts offer this. There are many popular video calling apps. These were just 2.
Android does not have 3G video enabled by default. It does not exist in the code and no manufacturer bothers with this.
Just find out what your friends are using.. Or convert them to hangouts because it's simple to use.

You can receive video calls using unlocked Skype 2.0.47 version from xda but as far as I know you can't send video from your own phone. I have black image from my camera (G2 with 02/07/11 CM nightlie) when video calling with other person using Windows version of Skype. Really good receiving video quality over wi-fi, though.

Can u provide a link to that unlocked skype
Edit
Found but working only ina way
On the beginning call so see my camera when call is revived I see only other can and my one is black
So received video is working but my one is not
G2 with lastest cyanogen nightly stock kernel and Oct to 1.5

yah same here i tried the unlocked version from xda and i can see the other person from a pc and from an iphone but video isnt working on my side (black screen)
It won't work since Skype wants its video stream from a front camera. Which we ain't got. If it can be done on an N1 and it doesn't work on ours, maybe its calling in a weird way.
New build for Desire HD works well on G2/Desire Z with CM nightlies.
Here's the link to working version:

Video calling works great on wifi.

Nor working with every rom. I suppose it depends of the base used.
i downloaded the official skype from the market, and i made a successful 2 way video call from lebanon to canada... it was awesome, no lag, no problem
Try qik
Works but uses rear cam

Worked fine when I was on stock OTA gingerbread, I skyped my girlfriend for about an hour but it was pretty silly with no front facing camera , haven't tested it with CM 7.1 yet.
I didnt get problems in the past using CM 7.1 with that
On the original sgs2 when you brought up the dialer their was an option for video calling.
The tmo rom on our phone is lacking this

Tmobile is slackin lol

isn't that with Skype. Nothing but integrated app software. The my touch 4g had it with qik video calling integration. If I recall it wasn't that great. Just download the app. Which is most likely better than the software integration.

the stock Tmo ROM came with Qik installed for video calling, but it's not integrated into the Dial Pad as the international SGS
in fact (I heard) that gtalk video chat is dis-allowed in stock rom is this true? (cannot be installed to video chat)

Google Talk with Video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1337339
Hi guys,
Is it possible to flash a version of Talk with video support for the WFS? Or can our little phone not support it?
Even if Talk with video support runs on the WFS it will be of no use........you would need a front camera for video calling and there is not an application that allows you to use the back camera for video chatting(Certainly would want it )
Long story short..........It's no use
Apparently, Yahoo Messenger with Yahoo Video chat plugin works (Uses Mic+Camera from the back) (About 28mb in total Alot of storage memory....) , Skype also works with mic and camera from the back
(Less storage)...

I think these work because of flash player. Edit: I was wrong they somehow work without flash...

There's probably a button, innit.
Sent from a Time Lord, using his TARDIS.
I use Skype and there is no such option........ mind elaborating what you're saying @XDA_h3n
i have tried them all....trust me when i say...QIK VIDEO is the only one that runs smooth, without any lag and no frame droping....i used it over hspa and wifi...same quality...mind that you may have to search the net for right version(older one) if the one from market does not work well.

There is a native 3G video call protocol, usually used in Europe. Not really adopted in the US. Not a whole ton of phones have it.
OP, this has been discussed months ago. No native 3G video calling on the Nexus, have to use an app. There are plenty available.

Yes, it is new information to me. Now that we have ruled out the "native" option, Tango is a good vid chat app.

it's your carrier blocking it. you need root and this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.innodroid.gtalkenabler#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmlubm9kcm9pZC5ndGFsa2VuYWJsZXIiXQ..
works perfect
this app is same that is used in iphone, to paypass the rule of wifi and trick the phone to think it is over wifi and it is on 3G to do video call
