Yep, you heard me ask if the lg g pad 8.3 v500 lcd is removable from its digitizer. To cut the story short, my lg g pad 8.3 has a cracked LCD wherein there are lines and colors running all over the screen when its on but its still functional and the touch screen digitizer is fully responsive.
I've seen a lot of parts on Ebay but it costs a lot and the lcd is always bundled with the touchscreen digitizer. I saw one ad on ebay wherein its a cracked digitizer but has a fully functional lcd and its price is way cheaper. I just need the lcd there but i dont have a clue if the LCD can be separated from the touch screen digitizer.
Some of you might tell me to just go ahead and just test it myself but i am no technician. I just plan to have it fixed by my local repair store and provide him the replacement part.
I hope someone can tell me the answer.

You can separate the two parts but it really isn't recommended.
You will spend hours doing it and will probably break one, if not both, while trying.
Search for some guides of videos on doing it, that will give you an idea of how hard it is and what tools are needed.
They really only sell them separately to get more money from you, you'll go for the cheap option and then when it fails you'll buy the assembled version.
Your choice though, I understand extremely tight budgets.

So I, being the smooth and coordinated individual that I am, managed to drop my shiny new phone on it's face and break it in less than 24 hours after getting it. The screen underneath remains in perfect condition, so my question is this: Do I need to get an entire screen digitizer and glass assembly like this or this, or can I save $50 and just get this or this?
As long as I spend less than the $150 deductible I do not regret not getting a warranty. Thanks.
If touch recognition isn't an issue and your screens colors aren't bleeding you just need the glass
Thanks, that's good to hear. Now I just need to decide whether I'm brave enough to do it myself. I probably am not since there don't seem to be any repair guides, teardowns, or anything out there yet.
You can do it yourself, but the battery isn't removable. So you run the risk of it over heating when using a blow dryer or heat gun.
When my friend and I replaced a cracked digitizer and screen, we used a industrial heat solder gun. 1500°F was the max.
If you do it through a company, or a private party, $150 might look a lot more appealing for the warranty.

It's actually necessary to pull out the battery to get to the screen?
Sometimes. You can usually remove the digitizer without pulling anything out, but most the time the LCD screen is pretty far in the screen and can require you pull some stuff out.
I'm not a master on these things, so I'd recommend looking up videos on newer model phones having their screen replaced.
Should give you a generic idea.

I will be doing a complete disassembly guide probably around the 1st along with a guide on replacing the digitizer and the LCD display, waiting on my new phone repair kit to come in and go figure i had to order it around christmas lol so if you can wait it will be a comprehensive guide, just a warning though it is a more difficult phone to teardown seeing as the digitizer is a) fused to the LCD and b) fused to the body.

When i did a disassembly on the nexus 4 same "non removable" battery was held in by two screws, i'm suspecting that will be the case with this seeing as the nexus4 is one of the sister phones of the LGOG
I've already taken the back off my phone and you are correct the battery is held in by 2 screws, unscrew those and the battery falls right out

there is a manual of the south korean optimus g teardown floating around here somewhere.

Awesome! Thank you so much,
Regarding screen replacement
If I'm not mistaken, which I might be, but I believe the digitizer and display are fused together....much like the iphone. So replacing the digitizer alone will be difficult enough if not impossible.
I've seen websites and eBay sellers selling just the glass and digitizer without the screen, but I seem to recall hearing something about a "gapless" display when it first got announced. Is that a marketing term or is it actually fused together? I guess I'll find out from my local repair place.
So is there a definitive answer to this yet? Mine slipped out of my pocket last night and has joined the cracked screen club.
They told me that the screen and glass are fused together the other day. :/
It's fused together, best option is to cough up the $150 and get it replaced. You will just waste your time trying to repair it and end up with something worse than a cracked screen.
The digitizer and LCD are fused together and are impossible to separate. This assembly is also then glued on to the frame, making it impossible to just pull off (unless you're good with a heat gun!). The frame is currently unavailable so your only option is to buy the $100-140 screen assembly and a heat gun to melt the glue enough to pry it off.
My suggestion is just getting a local repair shop to do it for you, it'll save you the trouble and most are charging approximately $150.00.

Hi,
The screen from my lg g2 d802 broke yesterday.
Half of the touchscreen still works but the other part doesn't work anymore.
Do I need to repare the whole LCD or just the glass?
The LCD seems fine, so I don't know what to do.
Just replacing the glass is so much cheaper than replacing the whole LCD.
Byeee
Try ebay , picked mine up for $78. Make sure it's for your model and it's glass, digitizer and lcd combined.
I've got a friend who dropped her VK810 right after buying it. No insurance. The top of the digitizer is cracked, but everything works swimmingly. She'd like to replace the cracked glass, though.
I can't find ANYWHERE that offers the VK810 digitizer all by itself. I can find the digitizer + LCD in a package for the V500 all over the place, though. So...
(1) Do the VK810 and V500 have the same LCD & Digitizer?
(2) Does anyone know of a place I can purchase a digitizer alone?

the digitizer probably includes the cutouts for the camera/sensors. v500 and vk810 have different locations for those items (that's why screen protectors are not universal across the v500/vk810)
Thanks. Anyone know where the digitizer for the VK810 can be found?
I dropped my 2 week old G pad v700 :crying: and the touch screen glass broke and touch stopped working (LCD is fine though).
I took the tablet to an LG authorized store but they gave me an insanely high price to fix it so tried to find a new screen in other repair shops and online but haven't managed to find the correct replacement part. Does anyone knows where I can find one? Preferably online
Thanks in advance
A little update
I found this .aliexpress.com/item/White-High-Quality-Touch-Screen-For-LG-V700-TOUCH-WHITE-Touch-Screen-Digital-Screen-Free-Shipping/32427232508.html
The seller says it works on the v700 but its white in the front and I have never seen a v700 like that, also it looks squared on the corners and the g pad is rounded. What do you guys think?
Did you bought? Touch have worked properly?
Tnks
same issue, ebay only sells screen covers, aliexpress and alibarber have bulk orders and only other choice is to buy faulty one with working screen but they are rare and usually £50+
Hey guys I'm looking for a sreen too now that my fat cat set on it and broke it in the middle (half screen works).
Hi guys my son dropped my tablet and all the screen are shattered. Is there any way where we can find a replacement screen? How easy to replaced the screen? Thanks in advance.

Not good, I'm pretty sure the tablet has a clear optic adhesive under the digitizer glass and lcd so if you remove the glass the glue will be remove too and you will be left with a display that looks like it has a big air bubble under the screen...(someone correct me if I'm wrong)
see the thread here (for the 12.2 model but I'm pretty sure it's the same for the 8.4)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...p/replace-cracked-glass-tab-pro-12-2-t3251203
so you will most likely have to replace the digitizer glass+ lcd in one unit
for the full assembly you might be able to find these on ebay or aliexpress (china- might be official or knockoffs)
http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20160117213008&SearchText=sm-t320+lcd
look for ones that include the LCD + Digitizer as one (usually around $100-$170) - also make sure the store has a good return policy and good feedback (maybe even good feedback for the item aswell), it is very hard to return to china so it's best to make sure before purchasing.
http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Parts_and_Accessories/SMT320/Default.aspx
this place sells all the parts but you might need to email them to get specific part numbers - and well it's probably expensive
last but not least send it to Samsung and have them fix it, they will usually just swap out the lcd + digitizer with a new one.

Thank you. I guess its too expensive to make a screen replacement for the tab. Not really worth it to fix it for $200. Rather than buy a new tab. Hopefully i can find somwhere else where they charged not that much. Thanks again.

I would check around with local repair shops (ones that specialize in tablet and phone repairs- since they should be very familiar with the oca film), maybe if you can supply them with a replacement digitizer, they can do the rest of the repair for cheaper.
you can check youtube for the oca film process (type oca film or LOCA screen) and a bunch of videos will come up.

It's crazy, this tablet costs more now used than what I bought it new for.
I too have a broken digitizer... And my screen has been going bad.. So unless you live near a samsung service center, that option is out. I keep seeing people suggest the LCD + digitizer replacement, but there is not one guide on how to actually do it.
The only thing I could find was some German guy on YouTube for a digitizer (not a whole LCD) replacement. How do you go about doing the replacement? The generic answer has been look at iFixIt or YouTube, but there isn't anything for this model...

I broke my digitizer the same week I got mine. I found only one place online to buy one. Google it, it's from China. It was about $160.00ish.. I followed the tutorial for galaxy tab s on YouTube. It was very easy.
