I just received my Vernee Apollo, the long awaited phone that Vernee announced back in March! It's been almost 10 months and this is it! The flagship of Vernee has finally arrived. My video above shows my unboxing, hands on, and first impressions of this device and below I'll write up a quick summary of what I think of the phone.
First Impressions of the Vernee Apollo:
The box is huge because there is a VR headset included
The phone feels very well made and finished quite exquisitely actually
There are some bezels around the screen but I didn't really notice
The phone is large (based on the dimensions) but doesn't feel that big
Screen is 2K, honestly didn't really notice when I first turned it on, looks quite similar to 1080p when not in a VR headset
Feels fast enough for a flagship
The VR headset is plastic but isn't Google Cardboard compatible
Full Specifications:
5.5" 2k IPS LCD Display
MTK Helio X20 Chipset
6GB RAM, 128GB Storage
21MP Camera with Sony IMX230 Sensor
8MP Front Camera
4G/LTE
FAQ:
Will it work on your carrier?
Check Will my Phone work, but in USA most likely not
Does it actually have a 2K display?
100%, checked on CPU-Z, Antutu etc and also looked very closely, it is actually 2K
Does it have 6GB of RAM?
Currently no, it seems like it isn't, as CPU-Z, Antutu and the stock memory manager in Android says only 4GB. Will investigate more.
Does VR work on this headset?
Ish, Vernee's headset in the box does not come with an app to calibrate it nor does it work with Google Cardboard, so it will be a lot more difficult to setup than normal VR headsets. Otherwise, I tested it in Youtube and it works.
Well this phone has all things to hit the headlines and but how many people will this info about this smartphone reach and how many will buy it? But definitely this is the right way to get noticed, atleast for startup.:good:
A win win for both consumer and OEM:highfive:
it is amazing, i like it. good design.

Yeah but what counts the most is updates and soc support from the os and app standpoint. At the end a 820 can be much faster
And thats why its not on the news

Yup. The only worry I have is the price tag. In this case, Jessie J is wrong (don't think many would get that reference). This is probably the first phone to release with a base of 128GB storage and 6GB of RAM. In the article as well, it's started by a reputable ODM, a little bit like how Oneplus was started by Oppo, even though they kind of deny it.

OS updates and SoC support are not why this is being excluded from the news, they just don't have a big enough marketing engine.
And depending on the price, OS updates are not hte most important. If you're paying north of $600, you should expect the best of the best in terms of support, but if you're hitting bargain bin prices for insane specs, support would be nice, but not as likely.
Yups agreed that they don't have much marketing knowledge but slowly steadily they got to pick up the momentum, unlike few other Chinese OEM which aren't been getting noticed.
At the end of the day there is a phone with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB internal memory with 21 MP Sony camera sensor. That's it!
BTW anyone know about it's price?

Its not the price tag that pays for your updates. Look at the nexus line and then at sammy. You pay almost twice the amount for a galaxy device, yet the nexus line gets updates faster. Same goes for oneplus, moto (before they were sold to lenovo)... The only difference is the materials used and design.
And again a 820 will probably be faster with the os, app support

I didn't say the price tag pays for updates, but for such a high price, expecting software updates isn't that big a thing. Do I expect updates for my $140 Xiaomi Redmi 3? Probably not, maybe a few bug fixes. The higher the price, the more "service" you can expect from them, and included in that umbrella are updates.
And don't forget that the Nexus line is an exception to the rule of software updates, well apart from HTC recently.

399 for the main model eh? Seems like a pretty decent price to performance ratio from that. I wonder what the build quality is going to be like though, hmm...

BTW Thanks to iacobus86 i add news on Apollo here:
I let you new information about this Apollo. It will take the Helio X25 CPU:
Vernee Apollo's upgraded to be powered by Helio X25 CPU, global first 3D video released !
As Vernee’s flagship, Vernee Apollo gains worldwide attention even though many other deca-core smartphones has been released recently.
Several days before, vernee has published Apollo’s main specifications and renderings. It’s without any doubt that the metal uni-body and high hardware configuration will be the 2 biggest selling points.
Moreover, vernee seems to be pretty good at making tipping points of its every product.
According to vernee’s latest news (https://www.facebook.com/972671569481015/videos/1009421932472645/ )
Vernee Apollo will carry Helio X25 chipset instead of previously said Helio X20 deca-core CPU.
Apollo will come into the market in July, and Apollo Lite in June. And Thor is in hot sale right now.
Vernee Apollo newest 3D rendering video:
6G? Are you kidding me? Just wait and see
399 is quite a decent price in comparison to other phones with similar specs

On September 20th, vernee held the new release conference of Mars in Shenzhen.
Vernee’s partner MTK attended the conference and released the details of its coming product - Helio X30.
According to MTK product manager, the Helio X30 will be the first CPU adopting 10nm technology.
It will still use the three cluster deca-core framework, namely 2*Cortex-A73 (2.8GHz) +4*Cortex-A53 (2.3GHz) +4* Cortex-A35 (2.0GHz).
It will also come with IMG [email protected] Compared with Helio X20, Helio X30’s performance will enhance by 43%, while the power consumption will be lowered by 53%.
Vernee also debut its all new flagship Apollo on the conference, which will carry Helio X25, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
The 21MP camera is from SONY (IMX230). What’s more, Apollo sports a 2k display with 541 PPI, suitable for VR experience.
And word has that Apollo may come with a peripheral equipment which allows it to record 360°video.

Vernee Apollo: An All-metal Smartphone Engineered from More Than 300 Processes
Vernee Apollo, the first VR-branded MTK flagship, carries deca-core Helio X25 SoC which features up to 2.5GHz main frequency. And it comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, 8MP front-facing camera, 21MP rear camera and a 2K display. Besides these powerful specs, it also contains a VR box in the package.
Since it is called “Flagshipâ€Â, the industrial design and technology behind it should be premium to match this name.
Apollo features a relatively rectangular shape. There is no other openings or button on the touch panel except for the receiver and camera. The black display shows great unity with the metal frame. Coupled with 2.5D glass, it delivers wonderful screen-off viewing effect.
Both the back cover and frame are treated with No. 220 fine Zircon and 360° blasting sand, which makes the phone feel smooth and comfortable. The back curve fits your palm pretty well. The simplistic antenna band decreases the band coverage by nearly 40% and overcomes the shortage of traditional three-part design. The metal ratio reaches up to 98%, making the phone elegant and strong-built.
Meanwhile, the screen is a little narrower than the frame, which is similar to the solution of OnePlus One. This design not only makes phone look slim, but also decreases the possibility of the screen contact with the ground in case of falling, which lowers the crack rate. What’s more, after CNC cutting process, the unique metal texture is better showcased and the handling experience is improved a lot.
Even in the detail, Apollo is well-designed. The whole body including the SIM card slot is firmly colored via 2 times of Anodizing process. And there is an anti-glare filter and CD pattern in the camera area. The dual tone flash, fingerprint sensor and volume keys are all processed via CNC cutting. From those details, we can see that Vernee designers attaches great importance to the appearance and industrial design of this model.
In fact it’s very hard to make a perfect product priced at 299USD range. How to balance the design and performance is a big question for most phone makers. However, Vernee seems to offer a great answer to this question, which is enough to show its honesty towards its users.

What you guys think is the best smartphone to buy at the moment sensation XE or Galaxy Nexus ???
I am a desire user and was planing to sensation XE but now that the Galaxy Nexus is announced I am bit confused.. However, I really like the new nexus and now I am thinking of buying Galaxy nexus. Reason for that is the UI is now getting very similar to htc sense and new hardware features such as the HD screen, android beam etc. I will make my finally decision after reading nexus reviews.
What you guys say?? Which one you will choose ?
I´d rather wait a little longer (a few weeks or so) and see what other devices will get an ICS update.
This would make some other current devices much more appealing.
E.g. those Motorola ones.
HTC might not update their new devices with ICS as it might slow down their phones with HTC Sense on top of it...
Personally I wouldn't want either; holding my Atrix firmly in one hand, I can just about reach the top left and bottom left corners of the touchscreen with my thumb. That would mean on a device like this I'd have to use it two handed... Why are high-end phones getting so giant these days?!
But given the choice between the two, I'd take the Sensation XE. I suspect the Galaxy Nexus will suffer rather badly in 3D performance as a result of using an SGX 540 (albeit one paired with dual-channel memory) for such a high-res screen. We know for sure it's going to get walked all over by the iPhone 4S with its 960x640 screen w/SGX543MP...
Depending on when current-gen Tegra 2/OMAP 4/Exynos/Snapdragon S3 devices get ICS updates, they may prove to be a better choice for that reason alone. This time next year, 1280x720 will probably be more viable. I suspect A5 is the only SoC with the grunt right now. Still, I could be proven wrong.
Edit: This is in the Desire forum? I'm confused...

Sorry being a noob, but what makes the A5 better than the processor in the galaxy nexus? I thought the nexus was 1.5Ghz dual-core, surely that's faster?
I am in the excatly same position, Im due for an upgrade. It took a long time to decide I wanted the Sensation XE because it looks so good with the red highlights and the Sense UI is a big favourite after having the Desire for 2 years now.
Now the Nexus has been announched I dont know whether to wait and get that. The Nexus vanilla ICS is really tempting cause it looks so good and is such a simplistic OS, and I think once HTC sense gets layed over the top it wont look anythink like that. The things that put me off the Nexus is that I think the it's too big. 4.65 inch is massive. The sensation 4.3 inch is bordering on too big.
It's a hard decision when you may own it on a contract for another 2 years, that Nexus is so future proofed you could own it for 4 years and not brake sweat about being out of date.
Sorry if this is dumbed down but I'm not excatly an expert on the specifics but any advice would be a bonus?

It depends on how optimised the processor is to work with the phone. A5 is made specifically for iOS devices only so it will work way better than the OMAP processor used in the Galaxy Nexus as the processor has to adapt to a lot of different device who uses it. Also, Galaxy Nexus has a 1.2 Ghz Dual Core OMAP processor, not 1.5 Ghz.

isnt the sensation XL the 16GB internal no microSD slot version?
if so i'd pass on that instantly.
The HTC Rezound (a.k.a Vigor) would be the one when or if it comes out and had the specs it's saying it might have.

true - isnt that like the senesation xe + more ram? (1gb rather than 3/4GB)
For me either smaller device ~4 inches or Galaxy Nexus - basically HTC for me have two big assets - Sense and shells (casing). Sense is much more polished from GB but the gap narrows with ICS, especially with some extra apps. While SGS/Nexus S has completely ridiculous material on the back, SGSII and nexus Galaxy seems to find some improvements in this matter.
BTW: Thank God (and admins) for ignore feature in this forum...

Shud have the 4.3 inch 720p display (like the nexus) and the 1gb ram. Only it they put in 16/32GB memory with expandable microSD it would be the one. Also, as YorickRise states a nice solid case rather than those plastic ones Samsung insists on making so their phones are lighter.
Just got to wait....

An Cortex A9 dual core is a Cortex A9 dual core. In terms of CPU performance there shouldn't be a great deal of difference between any of them unless the app is using NEON which isn't supported on the Tegra 2. And the dual core Qualcomms perform a bit different because Snapdragon is A8 compatible, but not actually based on the A8 or A9 cores, its Qualcomms own design. However, the GPU is different in all these chips, and that's a where the difference comes in. OMAP 4 as seen in the Galaxy Nexus and newer Moto devices uses the old sgx540 which you nay know from the original Galaxy S inside Samsungs hummingbird single cores. It was the best mobile GPU in its day and has been clocked much faster and paired with dual channel memory in the OMAP 4 giving it similar performance to Mali 400MP in the Exynos, Adreno 220 in the Qualcomms and slightly ahead of GeForce ULP in the Tegra 2. Not enough, IMHO for such a high-res screen such as that in the Galaxy Nexus. The shiny new sgx543mp in the Apple A5 blows all of the competition out of the water at the moment though! However we will see other SoCs in early 2012 that are competitive from a GPU standpoint.

Those flimsy plastic cases, while not feeling so great in the hand and looking pretty tacky for a highend device are actually a lot more impact resistant than the metallic bodied phones. Look for Galaxy SII drop tests on YouTube if you don't believe me. It mirrors the experiences I've had with laptops (I.e. Apples pro line with the metal cases have lasted a lot less well that the plastic-bodied non-pro models.)

Actually that's a no. A dualcore 1.2 ghz processor contains exactly 2 cores capable of exactly 1.2 billion cycles per second. No more and no less, and compared to the apple a5 in the 4s clocked at 800 mhz that is a 50% increase.
The a5 gpu however is indeed a tad better
edit: and i have to completely disagree that apple in any way can utilize the raw processing power any better than other companies.. That is just plain wrong. They can and have however build the system to utilize the gpu for transition effects and simple animations just as google does in hc and onwards.

iOS 5 is clearly better optimised than Android 2.3 in most benchmarks.... Especially in browser-related tests like JavaScript benches. However, we'll see how 4.0 handles as 3.0 on tablets is a lot closer to iOS benchmarked on similar hardware. And not all CPUs perform the same at the same clockspeed. Do you really think a dual core Atom (simple, in order core, limited cache and bandwidth and less execution units) performs the same as an i3 (complex, out-of-order core with loads of cache, loads of bandwidth and lots of execution units) at the same clock, for example? In fact, the reason I choce this particular comparison is it's an extreme with CPUs sharing the x86 instruction set; the i3 would be more than twice as fast in most cases.
CPU performance depends on a lot of things; for example the number of execution units inside capable of a given operation, pipeline length, cache optimisations, memory bandwidth, bus speeds, the efficiency of the instruction resceduler (for out of order CPUs) and a number of other factors. Even CPUs with the same cores (like ARM's A9 for example) can perform differently - some (like Ti's OMAP) have dual channel memory whereas Tegra 2, for example is constrained to a single channel, although this is much more likely to affect GPUs (which are also integrated and share memory bandwidth with the CPU) than CPUs with current cores. The CPU cores in Snapdragon S3, particularly, perform quite differently (a little worse in most cases) than other current-gen dual-core ARM chips due to their use of Qualcomm's Scorpion CPU core (which is an arm v7l chip compatible with, but not identical to an A8 - a single Scorpion is faster than a single A8 due to partial out-of-order support but the more complete out-of-order support and shorter instruction pipeline means A9 will perform better per core at the same clock than Snapdragons.)
And that's before we even mention instruction set extensions like NEON and SSE - when running code which is optimised for and can take advantage of these (which tend to be media-related apps like video encoding) you could end up with orders of magnitude difference in performance. The implementation of Sandy Bridges AVX extensions allow them to double performance at the same clock in linpack benchmarks versus the previous generation 'Nehalem' based chips for example.
Oh, and SGX543MP2 isn't just a tad faster than anything we have in Android hardware at the moment, it's A LOT faster, especially given that A5 uses dual channel memory and everything we have bar the TI OMAP 4 with its aging (though fast-clocked) SGX540 is single channel. Also bear in mind that the iPhone 4/s GPU is dealing with a 960x640=614,400 pixel display whereas many high-end Android devices (GSII for example) are still only packing 800x480 displays with 384,000 pixels and the GPU has to do a lot more work to render 60% more pixels! - be careful when comparing benchmarks!

I didn't find the COMPLETE specs anywhere on the web......we'll have to wait for spice to start the sales or gsm arena to post the complete specs!!
Spice Mi-500 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1GHz Dual-Core processor. It is even not clear whether it has a LED flash. Comes with ICS out of the box.
wowee
Seems more likely to have the MSM8225 at this price point.
The Mi-500 is said to have a Snapdragon S4 processor.
It has Cortex A5 dual core and Adreno 203 Graphics processor, which if you go by the numbering system of Qualcom, it will be less powerful then the Adreno 205.
I seriously hope not. I am so looking forward to this mobile.
And the screen resolution is definitely going to be 800x480.
Well lets see upon the release of the product in the market
is it a rebranded chineese
does any one know its oem i guess it is a rebranded chinese phone as always.
I was interested to hear about the dual core CPU on the Mi-500. But there is a lot of repeated articles around the net, most are cut n paste from each other and lacking the same information.
The only say 3G, I have not been able to find what bands it supports. If it is only 2100 then its not much better than the four variants of chinese/korean 5" phones (mtk6575 1Ghz, single core based) around the market (ebay & internet stores). Superior CPU, inferior camera.
Notable points,
No LED flash, No auto focus, a step down in feature from their smaller screened Mi-425
CPU Dual core Snapdragon 1Ghz
GPU 300Mhz
RAM 512 (1g would have been nicer to go with the dual core)
3G? HSPA likely
Dual Sim, guessing this will be a 2G only slot and a 3G/2G slot
It seems this brand is aimed solely at the Indian market, so getting one elsewhere might be difficult (only found one Spice brand ph on ebay as an indication)
I would really like dual sim in a 5" phone, But to suit Australia 3G 850/900/2100 would be best, might have to wait 6 months, or forgo dual sim and go for a galaxy note.
I've never liked the small screens on smartphones, its only the new 5" versions that make me consider changing from carrying an old 2G only phone & laptop.
(i found some of the extra info in a thread titled "First Look Spice Stellar Horizon" -google it)
Found the manufacturers website see (si2imobilityDOTcom), no information posted there, nor could I find information on what 3G bands are supported, I guess the answer is "the Indian ones" Though it does seem likely it is HSPA judging from their other phones

Oh no...........!!!
snapdragon ?? MediaTek ?????
You bought it ??
mediatek ???

Sorry but what's wrong with
"snapdragon ?? MediaTek ?????"
snapdragon is manufactured by Qualcomm & MT65xx is manufactured by Mediatek...However, Mediatek choose to keep secret for their source code while Qualcomm public part of their source code on-line...
With the source code, developers & ROM cookers at XDA can do wonder with it !
Just stumble upon this video about snapdragon melting butter test...
Hilarious but very true...

Hello.....
This thread is about the The ELEPHONE P8 MTK6592 1.7GHz Octa Core 5.7 inch with FHD 1920x1080.
Will be updating this thread with relevant info!
WRITTEN REVIEW:
I have now used the phone for some days, and I already have a good impression of this phone. The Elephone is high quality compared to my older HDC Galaxy Note 3 N9006 (with only Quad Core). You really can feel and see that the Elephone P8 is of the newer Octa-core generation. Almost everything is better on this phone than on older Quad Cores.
The screen is really nice, sharp & clear and have some real vivid colours. Almost everyone that I have showed the device, have told me that the screen is very nice. So the FHD 1920x1080 must do a difference.
The camera in the Elephone P8 is also of the "good" type. It has some few extras like object focus, voice capture etc, but especially photos indoor are much better than on my older HDC. I think it is pretty equal to the Jiake X3S (also Octa Core). My wife tried the camera, and the first she said to me is, "wow this one, actually has a good camera".
The Dual Sim and 3G works perfect! The speed of the phone is what you can expect from an Octa-core. And scores close to 27000 in Antutu. Games and apps runs very good on the phone. The backspeaker is loud, even maybe too loud sometimes (there is a setting to boost the volume in the phones options). But especially the earspeaker and the quality is 10 times better than on my HDC. That is really a big plus for me. You hear people really clear when you speak with them.
The phone is really big (even bigger than the normal Note 3) so it is only for people with big hands But the overall build quality of the phone is very good, almost as good as the real brands like Samsung, HTC etc. I have noticed that it is very solid, and it doesn't feel cheap at all.
If I shall say something bad, then it must be the light in the hardware buttons, it could be stronger. But at least there is some light. And there is no options to set the sensitivity of the screen. I would like it to be a little bit more sensitive if possible, but still it is good. Another thing is that I haven't found a way to change to a custom wallpaper on the stock lockscreen, it only allowes me to use the builtin wallpapers.
The battery life is good, I would say 1 1/2 day with normal usage. But it also has a pretty big battery, but on the other hand also a very big screen, which uses a lot of power - so it evens out. I will recommend this phone if you want a phone with good quality, it is not a 1:1 clone of the Note 3. But it has much better build quality than the clones have. The problem with the 1:1 clones are that they often are cheap made, because they are sold as clones and not have their own brand/name.

Hi there, loved your review! very detailed and informative about the phone.
Influenced me to buy it.
I've got the phone now and was just wondering will there ever be an option to improve screen sensitivity? because in some games the screen is not responsive enough, which is disappointing because it is fast enough to handle them well
I was also wondering if new roms or updated firmware will improve battery life? and where would you be able to download them?
thanks, I shall await your reply !

I think ROMs will come on www.needrom.com when available, but so far I have not tried any other ROM yet.
Have not found a way yet to alter the screen sensitivity in games.

We have got the smartphone Letv One/x600 from Chinese reseller. When i got this white one, i was deeply attracted by this high-end smartphone, as you know, Letv has its main line in producing its TVs, not for smartphones. This time Letv expanded its manufacturing line to produce mobile devices to compete with Xiaomi, Huawei, etc. Letv brings the first high-end smartphone for its customers to shock most of us. And its selling price has broken the industry's rule for most cellphones' manufacturers, meanwhile, it's a big shock for them. Therefore, let's probe into this high-end smartphone with me.

5.5 Inch 1920 * 1080 Pixel FHD Sharp IPS Screen
When it leaked before it was officially announced, the screen to body ratio is much large, and it is said it’s borderless or bezel-less. Letv cellphone has two types, one is 5.5inch, the other is 6.33inch, today i will introduce 5.5inch version for you first. It comes with 5.5inch FHD Sharp IPS screen (1920 x 1080, 403 PPI) display, providing the ultra-clear screen quality when i watch the video, view the photos and so on. Therefore, Letv one can be the best rival of Xiaomi Mi note pro, even iphone 6 plus. It's worthwhile to experience its nice sharp IPS screen, which is more exquisite and superior than the common screen.
MediaTek Helio X10 Octa Core 64Bit 2.2GHz + RAM 3GB ROM 16GB
Letv One or Letv X600 is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz , along with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Letv one is the first time to use Mediatek chipest, Mediatek Helio X10 MTK6795 processor, which means most rapid playing or running speed for more efficient operation. I test to play 3D games, the overall running speed is so fast and swift. Meanwhile, it has come with RAM 3GB ROM 16GB, personally, RAM 2GB storage is much enough for me, but Letv one has RAM 3GB, which is able to make me download apps or run the programs more fluently. You will not agree more with me.
13.0MP Back Camera 5.0MP Front Camera
Letv One or Letv X600 has dual camera with 13.0MP Back OIS Camera flanked by a dual-LED, dual tone flash, 5.0MP Front Camera located on the front side of this handset. I can easily use 13MP back camera to take photos clearly and fast to memorize every moment in my life and work. Meanwhile, i use the front camera to make face beautification. I like selfie or self-portraits all the time, this time, i really have my own selfie camera instead of bringing the big digital camera when i go traveling. I can take photos well during the strong or weak light. The 1080p video capture amkes it easy to preserve the important moments, which allows you to shoot crisp, detailed images.
3000mAh Battery
I am really satisfied with the battery with 3,000mAh capacity, it can support up to 10 days of standby time. Meanwhile, i don't have to buy a backup, because i can play it all the day without charging under the environment of normal usage. But if i take a vacation outdoors, i will prepare a power bank to charge fast for my smartphone in case of powered-off situation.
EUI OS
It has broken the record to use it own original and pure EUI OS, which can be one of the most advantages of this smartphone. Android 5.0 Lollipop comes pre-installed on this device with Letv's EUI OS on top of Google's operating system. Therefore, Letv one utilizes its latest and best system to provide customers with better experience in OS.
Support 4G LTE, OTG, WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth, Multilanguage, Play Store, IR Remote Control .etc
This is also a dual-SIM device (micro + micro SIM) which offers 4G LTE connectivity as well. Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0 are also available here. Of course, it can support Multilanguage and google play store, GPS, IR remote control function like other smartphones. 4G LTE Network lets you surf the Web, access social networks, download apps and stream media. GPS function helps you locate unfamiliar destinations. IR remote control function helps me control my TV, air conditioner or other appliance at home more freely and conveniently. Therefore, do you think Letv one is powerful?
Final Thoughts
In conclusion, Letv one can be the best and first smartphone for Letv to grab a lot of market share in terms of its hardware, software, or its design. Most importantly, it costs its users less than other high-end smartphone such as Huawei p8, Xiaomi mi note pro etc. This 5.5inch FHD smartphone has taken its first step and have a good standpoint in smartphone line. I know it is in stock now, hope you can share with me.
Letv one phone 4G LTE can be used in the United States? I finally bought a Letv One Pro phone, I need to wait 5 days to get my package.

Where can we buy one ....I am from Portugal ...
thanks for the review
Hi
I would like to buy this phone. But I read on they forum the someone have problem with WIFI, someone have with GSM, someone have a problem with displey - is easy to break it. Please can you tell me more about this phone:
1. Did have problem with WIFI?
2. Did have 480FPS slow motion? (this phone need to have 240FPS and 480FPS slow motion)
3. How much update did they now published? Do you often published update?
4. I read that phone get very fast heat. After using one hour of video or WIFI.... Is that correct?
Does it support 3G in both sim slots?
I had to return a zenfone 2 because it only supports 2G in sim slot 2; I want to make sure I don't have this problem again with this phone.
Thanks!
Is it support micro sim
How to access Google Contacts on Letv One
Hi, can anyone suggest how to access Google Contacts on Letv One? There a stock dialer app that asks you to sign in with the Letv account, which is useless in the West so far. Also, I've tried many different Contacts apps, but I can't access my google contacts...

Maybe you need to install Google services or something like that.
I got mine today from tinydeal.
Positives
- Display is great. I had no problem out- or inside. It was sunny today, so I think the display will work just fine.
- notifcation-LED up-left
-I like the mute button. I missed it since my last iphone and it's very soild. I hope I don't play with it too much (ruined on my old 3gs by playing with it)
- you can display the battery status in procentage TinyDeal Rom: its pre-activated
- you will have the full 16 GB for apps and stuff. 10,15 GB are free, sadly thats 2,8 GB less than on my Mi3
- USB OTG is avaible on the LeTV SE1. I already asked sandisk for a USB Stick Sample. Stay tuned!
- USB C – i love it!
- just about 50k Antutu points yeah! Tinydealrom: first run 50.000; second 49.000. Devices get warm doing those two benchmark runs
- performance is great. It's like butter.
- yes, its not brezel-less but it's still a beauty!
Neutral Stuff
- It doesn't feature two speakers, just one. the other grill is the microphone.
- no 2D Gla
- TinyDeal doesn't ship the LeTV with LeTV Services
- Tiny Deal installs a Rom with Dt. Sprache.
- I'd like it a little less apple. Even the package is iphone 6
- vibration could be stronger
- there are no notifications on your app icons (like 5 unread messages)
- just 2 micro sims, no nano or normal sized sim
Die Cons
- you basicly can't see the softkeys in bright sunlight .... or any light.
- no sd card slot
- there is really much bloat software installed on the letv one
- … USB-OTG only works via...yes USB C
- the overall feeling is great. BUT the backcover is a pure joke
- no Band20/800 MHz
Benchmark:
Geekbench 3: TinyDeal Rom: 906/4622 // Stable 003S Single Core : 884 MultiCore 4751
Geekbench 3 Battery: TinyDeal Rom: didn't run that // Stable 003S is going to take place tonight
Antutu Benchmark:TinyDeal rom: 50106 // Stable 003S: I can't find antutu benchmark anymore?!
Audio:
Stale (LeTV's) Bugs
- many apps don't work with the LeTV any more, like Modern Combat 5
- no batch install in Play Store anymore
Whats in the future:
I'lll test the LeTV intensive. Make more photos and stuff. Stay tuned

yeah, i know, I even made a tutorial video on how to install it. But tried so many apps, still, can't access contacts. For example, I downloaded the Contacts app, which easily lets you sync it with your Google account. Once you want to do that, it redirects you to phone's settings, which allow only to choose Corporate, Facebook or Skype account. I even tried to set up Google account as corporate, still no result.. Anyway, I think it will be fixed some day. It sucks as all my contacts are in Google.
good price
This smartphone is really affordable. Good price.

Well, at least, you can export them.
Just checking, did you install some google zip with TWRP? I found this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6DqRw6CSF8mcnI3ZzRleVVySEk/view
Now, my TWRP is in spanish, any way to get in english?!
EDIT: I downloaded the file 286X_v1_1080_dark.zip from https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/z31s1g/1080/TWRP 286X_v1
Connected the phone to pc, renamed that file to ui.zip, created a folder called "theme" on the TWRP folder on the phone storage and copied ui.zip to that new folder. Done! TWRP in english and themed!
EDIT2: Now, in TWRP, it just doesn't unlock, when it says "swipe right to unlock" it does nothing. No button work there. Oh the power does!
Guys, something is really wrong with the GPS. When driving the accuracy sky rockets to 30+ meters (tested with GPS test plus, get in aptoide). At 80 km/h, the accuracy goes 40+ meters. Yes, meters, not feet. My crappy THL 5000, maintains accuracy always at 3-4 meters. I'm running the last update 5.0.003S.
Anyone here tested it on the road?

How did you install Google Play?
You need to flash Gapps to system via custom recovery, for example with TWRP
I have a guide here (and a link to the needed files)

Hello everyone,
This thread will be used as a hub where I share some discoveries/observations which I stumbled upon mostly during working on my kernel projects.
I´ll clone the same thread over to the Pixel 7 forum as well. So without much further ado let´s just dive right into it.
A year ago everyone was excited for the Google SoC called Tensor 1 called GS101. One year later there is Tensor 2 called GS201.
I suggest to read about the differences, updated modem, ISP, TPU and GPU in various tech related articles.
Here´s a table so everyone gets up to speed on cores used, max freqs and other details:

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

But how does that translate on the devices?
There were quite a few rumors before the actual release of the Tensor 2 SoC being manufactured on 4nm Samsung node instead of 5nm. However that was just wild speculation and unfortunately turned out to be not accurate. Tensor G2 is still manufactured in the 5nm process as confirmed by Google. This was quite a negative surprise to myself, as I don´t have good experiences from SD888 that´s also being manufactured in Samsung 5nm node and is quite a hot chip. While the switch to Samsung 4nm node, wasn´t all that great either (check sd8 gen1 on samsung 4nm vs sd8+ gen1 on tsmc 4nm) it would still have been an improvement.
While I was very excited for the Tensor G1 when the Pixel 6 devices launched, that excitement ebbed down the work I worked on the Pixel 6 series. The more I learned about the source, the more I stumbled upon Exynos driver over exynos driver, some are just left exactly like on Exynos device, some were "re-branded" by Google. Some Google did customize, but most of the drivers are just very much Exynos.
So all in all the following excerpt from Andrei Frumusanu´s article here sums it up pretty fitting:
While Google doesn’t appear to want to talk about it, the chip very clearly has provenance as a collaboration between Google and Samsung, and has a large amount of its roots in Samsung Exynos SoC architectures.
Click to collapse
The same is true for the Tensor 2, despite minor upgrades there. As I learned over the time, Tensor shares a lot of Exynos characteristics, one of those is performance vs thermals as hinted by in the linked Anandtech article. So let´s just jump into that first topic I want to cover.
I will cover more topics, those will also be probably interconnected to each other, but we have to start somewhere.
Thermals, Thermal Ceiling, Exynos Roots and Maximal Performance
To start things of: Thermals is a term that actually sums up a few mechanisms. Lets split this into two main areas.
The thermal ceiling (let´s call it that) that´s being implemented in the kernel, as the maximal temperature the SoC is allowed to be operated at.
The thermal-hal uses combined sensors, also virtual sensor, and restricts different subsystems, based on the temperature of those sensor. Those can be called skin temps, shell-temps, battery temperature, modem temperature etc.
First let´s explore the thermal ceiling on the two SoCs:
GS101 on Pixel 6 devices is allowed to be operated at 90°C. GS 201 on Pixel 7 devices raised the thermal ceiling by 10°C to 100°C.
If changes to the internal design allowed them to raise this, without further increasing heatup of the device, or if they just applied changes to the thermal-hal to better keep this in check I don´t know at this moment.
Let´s get back to the Exynos characterstics. I talked to a few other developers I met along that way with Exynos "experience". Exynos SoCs reach the thermal ceiling extremely quickly, as I learned. This means, the SoC can´t keep its max CPU freqs for more than a few seconds without touching the thermal ceiling and getting restricted. This is in a way also the case for other SoCs, but Exynos is very extreme in this regard. But it´s just the characteristics of the SoC, like previously mentioned.
That means in turn: The thermal ceiling is setting the maximal performance allowed, to a great extent. If the thermal ceiling is raised, the maximum performance can be held longer.
Here´s a demonstration of this:
Pixel 6 Pro in its default configuration running at 90°C temp ceiling:
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
Pixel 6 Pro with temperature ceiling raised to 100°C, instead of 90°C running at Pixel 7 Pro clocks
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
Pixel 7 Pro, with the default configuration of 100°C
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
Now what´s interesting, the big cores get the hottest at the quickest rate. Once the ceiling is reached, the max performance drops, as maximal performance will be restricted by restrict max cpu freqs.
That´s the case after a few seconds on both SoCs, in typcial Exynos fashion.
Let´s make the next connection:
Although I´m not necessarily a friend of benchmark apps, how does that change the results of a CPU oriented benchmark like Geekbench you might ask yourself. There are other benchmarks, but I want to keep this simple for now.
The answer is: The Pixel 6 Pro with GS101 gets pretty close to the results of the Pixel 7 Pro with GS201.
So for comparisons sake:
On the left Pixel 6 Pro in its default configuration running at 90°C temp ceiling.
On the right Pixel 6 Pro with temperature ceiling raised to 100°C, instead of 90°C running at Pixel 7 Pro clocks.
The kernel used was the same, no changes to anything that could impact performance.
The left screenshot above was taken from the Pixel 7 Pro review from XDA, while the right one was taken on my Pixel 7 Pro running my kernel.
Please don´t start benchmark contests now, It´s just for comparisons sake.
It makes sense for single-core to be less impacted, as single core benchmarks don´t put as much thermal pressure on the SoC -> not touching the thermal ceiling as much and therefore no cutback are applied.
Geekbench applies a series of short benchmarks to the device. Usually not longer than 3-8 seconds, which is ideal for a SoC like the Tensor. Short bursts with max performance, so it can run "nearly" without touching the thermal ceiling.
If a benchmark is structured differently, like the CPU stress test you will see QCOM SoCs holding their max-freqs for minutes, instead of seconds.
Well that´s the first part. More to come. I hope everyone enjoyed this little writeup so far.
I wish everyone a nice evening.
Thermal Ceiling/Maximal Performance - A comparison between QCOM Snapdragon and Tensor
Now you might ask yourself, how does QCOM´s Snapdragon behave in the little test we conducted above.
You can find the answer below.
For this a Zenfone 9 with the Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 is used.
Pixel 6 Pro in its default configuration running at 90°C temp ceiling:
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
Pixel 7 Pro, with the default configuration of 100°C:
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
Asus Zenfone 9, with the default configuration of 110°C temp ceiling:
New video by freak 07
photos.app.goo.gl
As you can see the Zenfone 9 with SD 8+ Gen 1 can hold the max-freqs for minutes. It doesn´t touch the thermal ceiling when running under max load for a minute, while Tensor immediately scratches the ceiling.
I´m not a SoC expert and I think only engineers with insider knowledge know the exact reason why Exynos based SoCs behave that way. They just seem to work totally different in that regard.
Another point is, since the SoCs are different we can´t compare the temperatures one to one. There´s no way for me to know the exact placement of the temperature sensors, all I can say for sure is the SD 8+ Gen 1, does not touch the thermal ceiling in this test and there seems to be a lot of headway after one minute of maxed out CPU.
In the end the result will be the same. After a while the device will heat up and the thermal-hal will throttle the ZF9 back as well, as with only passive cooling that´s inevitable.
this one is mine too
this one too
number 5
and the last one
Interesting, thanks for this explanation and comparison. Learned something new today.
so tensor is just Exynos but rebranded and more ai performance

I´m not sure if it´s that easy in the end. It´s not just simply rebranded, there´s a lot of custom stuff in it, but at the core it´s based on the Exynos that´s clear.
I guess it´s just not possible to come up with a real custom chip in only a few years. It´s probably the beginning of that.
A few thoughts on tensor, that already allow google to better tune software to hardware which results in real life benefits:
The 4+2+2 design. That´s unique to the tensor and greatly favors those short performance boosts that are really critical in everyday usage. Everyone is constantly opening apps, if those apps launch a fraction faster, that´s a good real world benefit. (typical app launch times are between 0.2s and 0.7s.)
Tensor is not lacking behind the competition, let´s take the SD8+ Gen1, at all in that regard as just looking at benchmark scores would suggest.
I guess that´s a good section for another in depth post, that investigates real world usage.
The other is the TPU and the ISP.
Last year I used a Sony Xperia 1 III with SD888 (Sony more or less uses very relaxed thermal and basically unleashes full perf of SD888) vs the Pixel 6 Pro to edit the same video file and cut it.
The Pixel 6 Pro finished the task quite a bit faster. If I recall around 10-15 second faster.
There are other examples, but this will do for now.
updated the second post, with a comparison between QCOM´s Snapdragon and Google´s Tensor

I like my P7P even better than the P6P, although I had no particular issues with the P6P. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 versus Gen 1 USB-C port pushed me over the edge.

In the end you have to decide yourself.
I can give maybe a few experiences. I think there´s not a single real regression going from p6pro to p7pro for me. That´s an important point, considering that´s not always the case in such upgrade scenarios.
I like the slightly lower placement of the buttons, they´re easier to reach for me. The FP might be a tad faster, but I was one of the lucky ones that never really had trouble on the p6pro. I like the face unlock.
What I really enjoy is the macro mode in GCAM. It works quite well and fills a gap.
While I never had any real problems with mobile network on the p6pro there are three areas I regularly drive through. All phones struggle there in a way. Some lose signal there, amongst them the p6pro, other can barely keep it. Though you never know with latency and "cheating" with the signal icons. Each OEM handles that differently.
However usually I notice I can´t call anyone there and spotify playback gets interrupted due to signal loss on p6pro. With the p7pro I´m able to make and receive calls in those areas and also no other kind of signal loss. If that´s the case for everyone or just a border case for me I don´t know. It´s just an observation.
There are lots of small improvements that add up. Is it worth it for you, you have to decide.

Ye I have read about the new "features". I loved face unlock on the 4XL and all the other new changes on the P7P are very welcome as well. But those aren't enough for me atm to switch to a new device. Especially since I first want thermals (e.g. 4k 60 fps video recording or while using the phone in the summer), radio signal and battery to be improved.
Radio signal seems to be better for now. My problems with the P6P seem to be the same that you have/had
Maybe that also helps slighty with battery, especially in dual-sim mode.
But I guess ultimately I will wait for the P7P and hope that it is going to be a "bigger" jump. The P6P is really fine for a phone. Jesus, I would even be fine with the P4XL.
Nice research and information. Was very interested in taking a deeper dive into the core differences between the G1 and G2. Thanks for sharing and laying this all out in a way that makes sense. Interested to see what else you can uncover!
Wait ... how did you change the temperature control threshold? I have been working on this. After the surface temperature of the phone exceeds 39 ° C, the operating frequency of Tensor will drop sharply, making the game experience very bad ... I think there is something like Magisk module to increase temperature control? Translate form Google.
