How do I enable USB Reverse Tether function? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
It seems hTC developers remove this function from 2015 series devices.
My previous phone is hTC Butterfly 2, and USB Reverse Tether works as well.
But I checked Android 5.0.2/5.1/6.0, no USB Reverse Tether.
Android 6.0 has a option to enable USB port as RNDIS in the setting of developer.
Windows can launch RNDIS network driver for hTC, but the network doesn't work.
Now I play in Android 5.1. Hope someone can help me to enable this feature in Android 5.1.

Android 6.0 is to blame, not htc. There is a command you can send via adb to enable global tethering

[Q] usb tethering problem, please help :(

hello everyone I have a problem with my g2 when i try to use usb tehering with my computer I have a problem with the ( device drive not install on this computer ) I try more than one computer but it cam up the sam error message ? and I have window 7 on both of the computer, any solution I can do ? thx
What app are you using to tether and have you installed the drivers.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I have update with the manual update. the wifi hotspot work except the usb tether, it keep said the device not install, do I have to install some app on my coputer, thx for the reply
I have searched all over the place for a solution to this and haven't found a solution. Everything I find says Windows 7 has a generic RNDIS driver preinstalled, but it doesn't seem to be the case on my install.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I used the drivers that came with PDANet Desktop application
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I found a solution. Download the HTC Sync software from the link on this page: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/wiki/FAQ
Then when you connect your G2 and turn USB tethering on, search for drivers and locate the HTC Sync directory. It should then find the driver and install it.
Now, for a little twist probably related to the tethering plan, I notice this entry in logcat after turning off USB tethering and making sure my adb connection still works:
Code:
D/DataConnectionTracker( 1431): disableApnType(hipri)
I don't know if this DataConnectionTracker was around before, but I've never seen it. This might have something to do with how T-Mobile plans to know if we're tethering.
Edit: DataConnectionTracker triggers when using both USB and wifi tethering provided by the OTA, but not when using the Wireless Tether for Root application.

[Q] HTC One X Cyanogen 10.1

Hi Guys
Ive installed Cyanogen 10.1 on m HTC One X all went fine no issues with install etc. However since I have installed im unable to get my PC to identify my htc one x for an ADB connection. I have updated all software from SDK Manager its no longer asking for downloads however the device is never found by ADB. I used the all in one toolkit to root and install the rom but this is now coming up with the same error. I have read that some phone need an edited driver once updated to cyanogen 10.1 does anyone have the modified inf file for the one X all i can find is one for the Samsung which doesnt work I already give it a shot .
Any help appriciated as i spend a good few hours trying to work this one out last night.
You have to enable USB debugging and allow ADB in developer options... Both are by default disabled on CyanogenMod

Hi Mate
Thanks for the responce sorry should have said I have already enabled Developer Options within Cyanogen and have enabled usb debugging and the new one required for 4.2 which is ADB over network but ADB still still error no device found. Its seem to be something to do with the driver as I originally used the HTC drivers to flash and now I have a generic rom i.e. not one configured by HTC the PC doesnt appear to correctly identify the device. I have reinstalled the drivers a numbr of times and have also tried using the Google driver but my PC states this is not correct for the device and refuses to install it.
Well... I have the stock HTC drivers and they work for every single rom I have tried yet, weather AOSP or Sense...
Have you tired a different PC ?
You given adb root access in dev options?

Got it working with a guide on CM10.2 thread:
Disconnect cable
On phone:
Settings -> Storage
Press Menu button -> USB computer connection
Select MTP
On PC (command prompt):
adb kill-server
adb devices
Connect cable
Do you activated in dev settings usb debugging you can enable dev settings with going to settings/about and tap 7x fast on build number, it's not activated so you need to activate it at first

Quite interesting but ADB seems to come on when your device is turned off and then connected to the PC (As described in this XDA thread), I'm on a CM10.2 based SentinelROMv5 and it worked when I tested it.
Adb works fine on kitkat...I tried all kitkat roms which are available for hox and all had working adb

First check your adb version, it must be 1.0.31, I am not sure about the number, it should be similar, not 1.0.27 or something order. You type adb version to do it. And then open device manager in Windows, check whether you have Adb devices recognized. Windows sucks at recognising Android, you can have exclamation mark on the phone which is not recognized or Windows had recognized the phone as something else. If it is not correctly recognized, you should manually install the driver which is inside sdk folder. It is not easy to work with android on Windows, by using a Mac or a Linux you eliminate a lot of pain.

Just a small tip:
You can use the 'ADB over network' option, which uses wifi instead - works great for me when I develop apps
If you still have problems..I have 8.1 too,and had kikat roms, delete all other HTC drivers, and then connect your phone again..8.1 will automatically install correct drivers

Device can't be found on Fastboot?

I have just purchased HTC One (M8) Developer Edition (CID: BS_US002. MID: 0P6B12000) with unlocked bootloader. I'm on Android 4.4.4, Sense: 6.0, and Software: 3.28.1540.5. I downloaded the latest SDK (64-bit) and I have the HTC divers installed. I'm running Windows 8.1. I wanted first to root my device, so I connected to fastboot to flash custom recovery... etc. When I enter command "fastboot device" I get the message "waiting for device". The device is seen in device manager as Android 1. What's to be done here? I tried different port and a different cable. I checked in Control Panel/Program and features and I didn't find HTC Sync installed.
I think Windows 8.1 is problematic in terms of USB connectivity with this phone. USB 3.0 is often an issue, as well. The latter can be resolved by disabling the USB 3.0 drivers, as some have reported.
Try to re-install HTC Sync.
Otherwise, try to just uninstall Sync and any associated HTC drivers.
Then connect the phone, go to Device Manager, find the device. Then select the option to manually pick the drivers, and select the generic Android MTP device drivers. This fixed it for me, but under Win7.

I have rooted all my devices without a problem, my last device was HTC One (M7). It's not the first time to have a problem with fastboot, but I came to ask here as the device isn't new and there might be a known issue with a known fix to this. It's my first few days with the phone. I'll check the link on the computer. Thank you!
I bought my laptop exclusively just for use with all my devices and it came windows 8.
I used a program called Deban to wipe my hard drive and installed Windows 7 , it took some time to accomplish

I'm sorry to ask as you've mentioned being familiar with all of this but did you boot it to hboot/fastboot.i remember it being mentioned that things like usb debugging and drivers are not necessary for fastboot to work

Try a different port. I have a new laptop running 8.1, and one port is 3.0, one is 3.0/2.0, and the other two are 2.0. I use the 2.0 ports with no issue for ADB. There's a good chance that a different USB port will work.
For drivers, download HTC Sync, run it to install the drivers, then uninstall HTC Sync. Thast's what I did, anyways.

Looking for Assistance please ASAP

Pixel 2 XL updated to.Android 11 recently here in UK.
Now I cannot connect to DJI Mavic Pro or my PC
No USB pop up on status bar saying USB Connected
Yes Dev options enabled and using proper cables (have 2)
My Question is it possible to Downgrade fully to
Android 9 or 10
If so what do i need, links?
Thanks
In the networking section of Dev options is "Default USB Configuration." When I set that to "File Transfer/Android Auto" I was able to connect to my PC. I sometimes have to disable then re-enable ADB to get it to connect. I haven't got a Mavic to test, but hopefully that will help some, at least with the computer.
Yeah tried that with no success
Was working fine with 9 and 10 version
Tried hard reset and safe mode still same
What you mean disable/enable ADB
So looking for how to downgrade if possible

I'm pretty sure the only way to downgrade is to wipe your device though, so make sure you have a backup first. You can downgrade by flashing the Google Factory Images.
There's also an online flashing tool from Google here: https://flash.android.com/
When my device is cranky, sometimes I can revoke USB debugging authorisations, then turn USB debugging (ADB) off and back on. This seems to reset the PC connection and let's it communicate properly, even if I'm only looking to transfer files.
Otherwise, you'll want to flash the factory image as MrBrady suggested.
