Hello everyone,
My LG G3 is giving me a hard time, when I connect a headset, its microphone isn't working or it does but it's barley audible compared to the device's own mic.
The headphones part is working as usual and when the headset is connected sounds goes only through them like it should.
I've started using this headset a few days ago and it worked like a charm but then it's suddenly stopped working like it had been.
Fortunately I have another LG G3 on hand, so first I checked the headset with it and it works perfect.
So then I've replaced the 3.5 audio jack from the other G3 into my own to figure out if it is causing the problem and it is NOT,
since I got no improvement in my own phone and I also put MY jack in the other G3 and it worked there flawlessly with two different headsets.
I've been trying to record into / monitor with two different apps (lg audio recorder and another another one).
I've killed all apps running in the background. I've restarted numerous times, ran CCleaner to clear cache memories and whatever.
At one point a few days ago, maybe it was just before it started (and this might be a clue) the "plugged device" icon or "headset" icon on the notification bar stayed even after I've disconnected the headset and I think I needed to restart the phone but if i'm not wrong the headset kept working after that.
I was trying to find any kind of audio service to restart or anything like that but I didn't find any, I just killed them all to see if it helps.
I've also tried using "soundabout" app to try to force the audio path to the headset and played with some settings but to no avail (I disabled soundabout service after that attempt).
Right now I see no other option but a hard reset and I'm pretty sure it will solve the issue. but I hate going through backing up and restoring everything. and even so, who said this issue won't happen again? I've tried to search for an answer but found nothing like my problem on the web.
I just read something old from 2013 that mentions a bug in android audio. not sure it's related. something about "AudioPolicyMangerBase" (it seems I can't post links yet) from an app that had a switch to switch between headset mode or phone mode. but in any case it's no longer maintained. again, not sure it's related.
Update: Now I got no sound with two different headsets on the SECOND LG G3 as well. it seems messing with it around, plugging and unplugging messes with it's software somehow and maybe it locks the audio route in a way that it's can't work.
Any way to reset all audio ins/outs routes in the device?
I'll appreciate your help. Thanks a lot!
Roy.

Been having some problems with making and receiving calls which appeared yesterday, all this without dropping my phone or anything, it was just in my pocket.
Whenever I try to make or receive calls the phone thinks there is a headset attached so I can't hear anything that the other person says, I've never actually connected a headset to my phone either and there is no icon in the status bar for it.
I was using MIUI when the problem occurred so I tried doing a full wipe (data/cache/dalvik) and installing Cyanogen, same problem. So I tried installing a market app called 'headset blocker' still to no avail. Finally I tried going back to MIUI with a full wipe and using 'headset blocker' and it still doesn't work!
I can call fine if I put the phone on loudspeaker and the music plays through the speaker fine as well so I'm just not sure what else to try.
I read somewhere that a switch in the headphone port controlling whether a headset is connected or not could be the problem but didn't really want to have to take it apart unless I had to, anyone got any ideas?
Thanks for any help.
EDIT: Just tried putting my headphones in and wiggling it around and at one position (about half in) the phone thought there was a headset attached (an icon appeared in the status bar, before no icon was there) and wiggling it some more made the phone start a song briefly. So it's looking like it's a hardware fault..
Just in case anyone comes here with a similar problem, I took it to a local repair shop to be fixed and in the end it had nothing to do with the headphone port or the actual ear speaker. It turned out to be the ribbon connecting the two halves of the phone, no idea how it happened but it's fixed now!
Hi chaps,
Wierd issue. Headphones are not detected when plugged into my phone unless I do a reboot. Similarly, when I unplug the headphones they are not 'un-detected' until a reboot.
However, using an app called toggleheadset I can force audio through to my headphones. This is a bit of a pain because 1) I have to remember to do it and 2) I lose Beats functionality.
I have tried using different headphones but this has no effect.
Any ideas as to why the headphone state is only detected at boot?
I have tried different Kernel/ROM combinations but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
also, if anyone can provide me with some pictures of their headphone port so I can compare it to mine that would be great.
Hi,
I have the exact same issue with my HOX since yesterday.
At first I thought the ROM had something to do with the issue, but after flashing several other ROMs, it still wasn't solved. (I haven't flashed back to stock btw)
"toggleheadset" works ok, but I can't use the microphone that way; I can't use my headphones to make calls anymore.
Also when answering phonecalls, sometimes my headphones are still toggled on, so I can't hear the other end. And the worst thing is: when I try to toggle the headphones off during the call, my screen dimms and I struggle to activate the widget. THATS a pain in the ass.
Does anyone know if the issue is software/hardware related? And the best way to solve this?
I'm wondering if this issue affects bluetooth headsets. If it doesn't, I'll consider buying one.
Old thread, but me the same... But my HOX survived waterboarding... I felt into the wather while sailing. Changed battery and screen, but now I see i have one more problem to solve. If any one have solution - please write. But for now I'll try to fix by my own
Cleaning Hole
Try to clean the hole where the Headphones are put in...
If its clean, try to reinstall the rom.
Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone has a suggestion for me wrt to audio problems with my wife's Sprint Galaxy S3.
On a fully stock up to date S3, about 3 days ago all sound stopped working, this includes alarms, answer calls, key press sounds, playing music. However after a reboot, it would start working again for 6 hours or so, and then quit again. I assumed this was a software issue of some sort. I have an older rooted phone which I love and have had for years, I suggested that we finally root her S3, so she could get all those benefits plus fix whatever little software problem this was.
The rooting process when fine, and the phone now has CWM and CM 10.1.2 (Android 4.2.2). However the audio issue is still there and in fact a reboot no longer fixes the issue.
I have tried pluggin in the ear buds w/ built in mic, and those too fail to work. I also have paired various bluetooh devices like mini boom boxes etc.. they all pair fine however there is no audio output from them. No audio in the dial pad when hitting the numbers. When trying to play music the DSP Manager will crash, and then the music app crashes (tried Apollo and Google music). If I go to the sound recorder and hit record, it pops up with "Internal application error.".
So it seems all audio (speaker, mic, bluetooth, and headset) is broken which again makes me think software, but even after rooting and installing a new rom like Cyanogenmod the issue is here.
Any thoughts on what else I can try? Any firmware updates that I could apply specific to audio issues like this, or perhaps it is some sort of hardware issue that is preventing the software drivers from behaving properly?
thanks,
fishtek
I would Odin back to complete stock and see if the issue still arises. If it does then it could be hardware related.
Same problem

I have that sane issue and nothing I do seems to work.
Hey guys,
So okay, I am having an issue and have not been abe to solve it for a week now. Allow me to start...
I have the sony MDR-1RBT headphones. I've had them since last February and have used them without any problems. Connection, set up, and usage has always been a breeze. Until recently.
I started my day and connected my headphones like usual and it said they were connected. Cool. Went to play music and it played through my phone. Not sure why. Tried to make a call, audio went through bluetooth device. So they say they are connected and playing through the bluetooth device but is clearly is not.
Things I have tried to fix it:
power cycling phone and headphones
disconnecting and reconnecting bluetooth connection
gone into device settings and made sure media was checked for my bluetooth device
researched through the internet
followed what the person on this link suggested: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...r-playing-note-2-music-but-does-do-calls.html
The last step, when I tried it it connected! Yay! Then I turned the headphones and bluetooth off and went to turn em on again and it went back to not working. Tried the same method and it didnt work.
I am running on an LG G2 Rooted but not ROM'd. I know the issue is not with my headphones because I tried to connect the device to my Jawbone Jambox and it did not work on that either. I am not sure why it is not working.
I consider myself pretty tech-savvy and I am pretty upset that I haven't been able to figure it out. Let me know what you guys think.
When you go to your phone bluetooth setting with a list of paired devices, do you see 1RBT listed in there as "connected to phone and media audio"? This is very important because it sounds like it's only connected to phone but not media audio.
Do you have any other bt devices you paired up with your phone? Like wireless speaker or another set of headphones? Quite often if you have a few with power, there will be a race condition which one gets connected as media. But since you said music was playing through your phone speaker, I assume there is not conflict with another device. But nevertheless, just delete all your previously paired up devices in Bluetooth list to make sure there is no conflict. Remove 1RBT as well. After you remove everything, reboot the phone, and do a fresh pair up with 1RBT. See if that helps?
Also, try to pair up these headphones with another device, either phone or a tablet to make sure there is no issues with bluetooth radio on your phone. If you have access to another bluetooth device, try to pair it up with your phone to make sure everything is working as expected.
Let me know the results, and we will go from there.

I come from the philippines and i have the g3 also. my bluetooth connection was fine it connected to my car and headset but now it only receives calls but does not play music through my bluetooth headphones. when i press the play button on my headset it plays on the device itself. checked under bluetooth setting and call and media and audio was checked.
my device is rooted. i did a factory reset but the problem remains unfixed. please help. i have installed g3 tweaksbox but i dont see any mods that is related to music apps. i dont know what to do. i have considered unrooting and flashing stock rom.
I was having the same problem until I realized the volume on my jawbone itself was turned down.
Vectron's Suggestion Worked For My Bluetooth Headphones
I was heaving the same issue as the OP all morning. My Beats66 Bluetooth headphones were working just fine since I got my Alcatel Idol 4, with Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) phone through wireless provider CricKet, just 2 days ago. I primarily purchased the headphones for placing phone calls, just because most Bluetooth headsets I have purchased, and Android phones in general, are too low volume for my impaired hearing to make out. However, I do listen to music on them as well.
This morning as I am exiting a taxi, I hear music coming from my backpack. Somehow, something launched one of my music apps, probably the buttons and screen were activated while items in the backpack pressed against them. The settings said Media and Phone were connected to Beats66, and the phone did come through the headphones only, but the music would only play on the phone's external speakers.
I found this thread from a Google search, and Vector's post was helpful for me. I went to Bluetooth settings and highlighted Beats 66 headphones, then selected "Forget." I rebooted the phone, paired the headphones, and all my music apps play through the headphones now. Lets see how long it lasts right? Since this is a brand new out of the box phone, I did install numerous Apps, all of which want user authentication, permissions, and countless settings and permissions to interact with other Apps and phone hardware. Hopefully with everything getting set up the way I like my phone, (I'm particular about everything, or I just find the phone annoying rather than a tool), I won't make anymore changes that will alter the operating status of the headphones.
Thank you
I am experiencing the exact same issue on my LG G3 with my Skull Candy Wireless headphones. The headphones pair and phone audio works, but Pandora, Google Music and any other streaming audio app plays over the phone speaker. I noticed that I received a Carrier OTA software update on Jan 17, 2017 and am wondering if that is when it may have charged. The only way to resolve it so far has been to clear the BT cache. This is temporary fix as when you attempt to pair again it is back to only phone audio and no music audio.
My headset is not working with music until you turn off the phone audio just to play music. My phone is Lenovo A2010-a and my headset is Nia X2. Please help

Ever get this resolved? Still having this issue and so far only fix for me has been using Ti Backup to nuke all the bluetooth data, rebooting and then it'll connect fine. I also have Skullcandy BT headphones. Trying my car's BT too to no avail. Same problem. I think this is the same issue: https: //forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/help/bluetooth-calls-media-audio-t2837471/page4
I ended up buying an Amazon Moto G4 as it is slated to get Android 7.0. I honestly believe it had something to do with the last security update LG pushed out. Since the G3 is not updating I will attempt to root and rom at some point though recent search seem to show the LG G3 can't be rooted.

I rooted mine fine with Kingroot. Get Kingroot, root, install twrp and flash supersu then delete Kingroot. Worked for me at least.
As far as this BT bug with the G3 I don't have anything better than the data wipe workaround so far, so good luck with the Moto.
Thanks guys. I also had the same problem but i restarted my phone and my music is just playing. Yah!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone encountered issues with connecting with a car bluetooth? My wife phone conntects with no issues.. She can use the cars remotes to make and receive calls.. Mine I have to pick a contact from the phone for it to work, it will not work with the car or my work truck controls.. It seems everytime it ask if my car or truck can access my contacts, I always choose allow, but nothing happens, but it works with the wifes.. This is with the Lollipop update, that we both have...
happened to me I just rebooted my phone and it connected, also check settings for that paired device

Got one to work, in my truck.. The car it worked for a while, then quit.. I will try it agian to see if it will stcik... Most likely caused by the 5.0 update..
I've noticed a Bluetooth problem that suddenly started in the last week or so. I upgraded to Lollipop when it first hit, and didn't have any problems.
Now, however, after Bluetooth works fine for awhile (I can connect to a Pebble watch, Bluetooth speaker, car Bluetooth, etc) all day long - then all of a sudden it can't connect to ANYTHING. Toggling Bluetooth off\on doesn't fix it.
Restart the phone, then everything works just fine for awhile. Until it doesn't, and I have to restart again.
Anyone else experiencing this pattern?
I've actually had the opposite happen. I have a iSimple bluetooth box in my car. I've never been able to auto connect with either VZW Note2 or 4. The CS rep told me it had to do only with VZW phones and he couldn't help me out. On another forum, another member mentioned he didn't have any issues with his older phone, so I dug out my old HTC Incredible. Sure enough, it would auto connect. Something changed with Lollipop, and now my Note4 will finally auto connect to the iSimple box. I tried using a third party Bluetooth app prior, but it didn't fix the problem.
Finally got the one in the car working as well... Because the wife and I have the same phone, I just simply changed the name of my phone and it works fine..
If your talking about the developer edition one rom update.. YES.. What fixed mine was wiping everything and redoing the one rom lollipop, then twrp, then installing Ricks Rom Lollipop, things have been perfect. I even addressed it in the ricks rom thread the week.
I haven't had any issues connecting devices but since Lollipop, when I am connected to a bluetooth speaker (car, bose, other bluetooth speakers) the audio gets choppy randomly.
I have done some searching and found others (LG g3) who had the exact same issue after updating to Lollipop.
I have tried rebooting, using different music apps, unpairing/pairing, forgetting the device ect and nothing seems to work. Anyone else having this problem after updating to lollipop? Anyone know how to fix it?
