Sudden fast discharge - Sony Smartwatch 2

My watched lived for 2-3 days and suddenly they became discharging in 1 day.
The were no gradually lifetime decreasing, it happened in one night.
Any ideas?

BT connexion issue ?
locked in active mode ?

I have similar problem. It started 1 month ago after I bought it. First it reconects few times a day, and after upgrading XPERIA Z3+ and XPERIA Z5 on Android 6.0 it starts to drain battery. Even my both phone battery starts to drop, it could last two days on Android 6.0 without SmartWatch 2 paired on both. When it is paired battery lasts 1 day both. On Android 5.1.1 on XPERIA Z5 and Android 5.0.2 on XPERIA Z3+ everything was fine (except mobile radio active bug that comes sometime). Few days ago I reset SmartWatch 2 and reinstall all apps related to SmartWatch 2. Reconnection stops but battery drain is still there. Then I fictory reset XPERIA Z3+ and SmartWatch 2 with no success. Drain is not by 1%. It stays on some % for hours and than drains battery by 3%, 6% even 10% or something like that at once. What can be couse? Mybe Android 6.0?
Update on this issue:
This morning I pair SmartWatch 2 with XPERIA Z5 Compact on Android 5.1.1. Everything went to normal. From 11:00 a.m. to 02:30 p.m. battery on SmartWatch 2 droped only 5%. Battery drops by 1% what is normal to me. And for battery on XPERIA Z5 Compact I can't tell because it has mobile radio active bug so this drain is not related to Smartwatch 2. I think Sony needs to update SmartWatch 2 for better Android 6.0 compability.

How to check? I've resetted watches, it didn't help.

Try to disable BT on SW2 (after the wath and phone connect) and use like this for one day to see battery power. With this you can see if is related to BT issue between phone and watch.
I have also an Z5C and sony confirm a BT issue wich must be resolved on next android Update.
For me, my SW2 has no issue at this time with my Z5C.

I switched BT off and SW2 discharged anyway. And it can't normally charge from PC (it was connected for 4 hours and battery is still 2%).

Battery dead if without connexion the battery drop from 100 to 0 quickly.
Try with wall charger. Pc is not good solution to drain current.

Mine's recently, suddenly started doing the same, can take less than 24hrs to go flat, with hardly any use. Used to last 3-4 days. Caught it on the 'reset progress bar' screen the other day, wondering if it had done an update or something?

Do ye have the app Smart Camera installed?
I installed an update and it started eating up the battery,so I uninstalled it and installed an older version of the app and the battery is back to normal again

Im still getting a faster battery drain than I would like, so i have removed the smart Music extenstion and downgraded the Smart Messaging to 1.2.9 and taking note of the battery drain rate to find the culprit.

Still went from 100% to dead in less than 12 hours. Might try just un-installing all apps and work up from there.

Im currently down to 2% a hour with the smart messaging 1.2.9. so hopefully thats the culprit for me

Dropped to about 38% in the first 30 mins, and now at 15:20 it's sat at 35%. I'll run it for a few days and start putting the apps back on.

Something like this: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t48tRgydL_5-Lqmc6ytZ7Ik8pYQcX5ilZvZIRF9owYc/edit?usp=sharing
I'm a little impatient when it comes to tracking things, so I tend to change things without leaving a long gap to see the results.
Yours?

That looks good, 2% per hour is around the same as me.
I just took the new Marshmallow update, I will try putting on the Music extension as I use it a bit and see how the usage goes.

Reinstalled the music extension(latest version) and battery drain is still 2% an hour

I am so sick of this tablet...

Had to return the first one as the battery dropped so quickly I could see it - dropped by about 5% at a time every 2 minutes or so...
The one I've got now has been working fine (for the last 2 weeks) until today.
Turned the screen off at about 65% battery. Turned it on about 3 hours later and it had dropped to 43% without the screen being used. Mediaserver and Google Services had been using most of it apparently.
Rebooted it. It then went from 43% to 36% to 26% to 22% to 15% to 9% to 2% in about 5 minutes.
How can Samsung release something so useless?? Is it the software??
Wow that's f-ed up sorry about your luck.

Hi. No, not rooted.
The battery stayed at 2% for ages. I then turned it off and on again, and the battery showed as 36% again. It then dropped straight to 23% which is where it is now.

How long has it been since you did the reset?
Thanks
Have you factory reset and not installed any programs to monitor usage?
Perhaps something your installing is doing it. Are you using a microsd card?
I just starting charging my tablet after 1 day and 17 hours with 9 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time.
And I still had 18% battery left. I'm not saying it to brag just that battery life is fine on this tablet.
Until then please search Google for mediaserver battery drain. This is not running on my tablet btw.
Media server can happen if you have some corrupt media file the tablet is trying to read and identify over and over again

Threads like this are always interesting. If every owner on this forum's N10.1-14 performed like OP's don't you'd think it would be on the front page? So OP's issue is something unique. It could be:
A manufacturing issue that affected a batch of N10.1-14's. If OP's exchanging at the same place all their devices could be from the same batch.
Samsung uses different s/w in different regions and perhaps there's a battery draining s/w issue in the particular ROM OP's using. But unless OP's from Antartica you'd think others from his region would be reporting the same issue.
OP's loaded something on his device that's either incompatible with 4.3 or Exynos 5420. A lot of older legacy apps still run on newer Android devices but don't run well and create issues. If OP's using restore his old apps are being installed as soon as he signs in to his Google and/or Samsung account.
Of the three I'm guessng number 3 is the most likely. I have a SM-601 with 130 apps installed, a dozen syncs running, and two Exchange push account always downloading. Used exactly the way I used my N-8000 I'm getting about 10% less battery life. That seems about right to me considering the PPI is doubled, the SoC is more powerful, and I'm using also Samsung's motion, voice, and air sensors which didn't exist on the N-8000.
OP, try setting up the tablet without signing in to either your Google or Samsung account. That'll make sure no apps are installed without your knowledge. See if the battery drain is still there. If it's not, your issue is s/w and not the s/w pre-installed by Samsung. Good luck.
Thanks for the replies.
It seems there are 2 separate issues.
1. The mediaserver battery drain (I do have a micro sd card, but haven't recently added loads of new files or anything). The tablet has run fine for 2 weeks without this issue, and I haven't recently installed any new apps.
2. The fact that the tablet doesn't know how much charge it has - goes from 2% back up to 36% without being charged etc.
I'm not sure what to do. I noticed that google play music was running in task manager so ive disabled that, and have fully run down and am fully recharging the battery. When in plugged the charger in symbol went from showing battery empty to about 20% charged instantly which doesn't bode well...
If I still have an issue i guess I will exchange it a 2nd time for a 3rd unit...
Thanks for the help

I reset it once, a few weeks ago and its been solid with power usage since.
Perhaps it is being effective by the new Google Play Services, which appears to have a battery draining issue. This started in the last week, I believe.
The battery drain just happen recently, isn't it? I've just bought my Note for 4 days, on the first and second day, the battery is awesome, but from the third day it run down from 45% to 5% in minutes.... I think that related to some update service and happen to massive device recently!

Well, it is a possibility. My first gen Note 10.1 wifi does not seem effected by it. It is on 4.1.2. I also do not think this effects all devices. Wondering if it is a 4.2.2 and up issue or something along those lines. I only suggest it a possibility to check into.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2378962
in here state that the problem could come from the new update of Google Play Store. I did remember that it is updated before the problem appeared (but not so sure). Just remove the update of Play store and see the result. Will report back
Just to update you all in case other people are having the same issue - I disabled google play music, ran thrbattery right down so the tablet switched off, charged back up to 100% and then used it normally. Battery seems much better. Although it did drain really quickly from about 35% to about 5%, but over an hour or so, not in minutes like before.
Weird apps have stopped using all the battery - its now used by about 90% screen, 5% android os etc which seems normal.
Still, there is always the worry that ill get it of its case one day when I nred need to use it and the battery will be flat!
P600 wifi getting 14 hour battery life here. Been using it all day and played some games too. Im happy with the battery life.
If people get together and help make knox proof root, I might be interested in making a rom with all my battery saving goodness in. Or work with some people to make a nice clean, lean rom. Who knows.

[Help] Huge, abnormal battery drain in Moto 360 [Solved]

Hello guys,
I need your help i'm getting huge battery drain now it's 3-5% 'sometimes more' each 15min even though i'm on the latest update -i hope this isn't the normal 360-
Today i took it off the charger it was 100% at exactly 6:05 and by 13:00 it was completely off , with very very light usage (got no calls,2 or 3 emails) little bit music controls (nearly 5min).
For those who wondering i'm using stock face with only one application which is the mini launcher.
Any ideas?
Thanks alot
First step I'd do is a reset of the watch.

How much battery are you getting?
It's clear not normal, try reseting the watch, uninstalling the wear app an reinstalling it, letting the watch settle with a couple of discharge cycles, from 100% all the way down to 0% and when you recharge it, just recharge it till it's done ( I mean the hour it took to do so, dont left it on the charge all the night)
I've been getting better battery life doing this, at the beggining I was as bad as you are now.

To give you an idea with the newest update yesterday I took my watch off the charger at 6:30am and put it back on the charger 11:55pm and still had 26% left. So that's a little over 17hrs.
I had numerous texts, a few emails, voice responded to a few texts, controlled music for about 45mins and used it to track a 1.5mile walk which took a little over 30mins.
I have a few apps installed such as wear mini, flopsy, keep, ifttt, level, pixtocam, watch app tracker, and UP.

Hey guys, thanks a lot .. i thought to give you the update,
So after resetting the watch and re installing Android Wear app there was an incredible difference, now the battery is lasting the whole day - from 11:00pm till the next day 9:00 pm and i am still on 30% with medium usage-
Thanks for the tips.

Reset worked for me
I just wanted to say I also experienced this issue and it was solved by following these directions. I was getting around 20 hours of run time until the update last weekend. Then it suddenly fell to only about 7.5 hours of run time. I couldn't even make it through a day of work. I had tried restarting and even installed a Wear Task Manager and did a kill all and could still practically watch my percentage drop. I performed the full reset last night. Today I am currently at 80% after being on battery for 5 hours so I think everything is back to normal and I should easily see a full day of use again.
Thanks!
The short story of why this works:
Developers used to put their Wear apks in the assets folder, that stopped working with the new Android Wear revision. Now it is packaged in res/raw.
Old packages were cached and it was a disaster. My watch was drained 30% at every reboot and it would install old programs on the watch that I haven't had on there in quite some time.
I just bought the moto 360 and love it so far... I keep reading different post of how the batter life diminished from last update... Since I did not have the watch before the last update I can't compare them... So how long should the battery last with medium usage... I responded some text and received a few emails already today and it's down to 72% in 5hrs...does that sound about right?

If you got the watch brand new, you need 6 days to break it in
I'm having a similar problem to OP.
I can't get much use out of my Moto 360 at all.
I just reset the device and uninstalled and reinstalled Android Wear on my phone. Took 10% just to reset and got through the initial setup. 90% after 3 minutes of use? How is that even possible?
I'm getting ready to return this thing. It's infuriating.
Attached is a picture of my use at work today. Ridiculous.
That's using a facer watchface and VERY few apps and not having Fit installed on my phone.
Have you done the reset where you clear watch data from Google play services?
I just bought my 360 last weekend and I noticed the battery got better each day after....the 1st 2 days I had to charge it late afternoon...yesterday I took it off the charger at 6am and at 11pm I still had 20% left...once you begin using the watch normally without tweaking it constantly the real life of the battery will show
was getting...
I originally got ok battery before "THE" update. Got great battery after the update, but now I'm back to just ok or even worse than before the original firmware . Does anyone know what was changed or who to contact?

That is 100% normal when using Facer. It's "watchfaces" are just apps that run 24/7...
Try another reset but this time no Facer :good:
(If you want custom faces use Moto's built in one that lets you make a custom face from a picture)
I've done the recommended clearing of the Play Services, resets, etc... My watch used to lose approx. 45% in 8hrs. Now... my watch is losing approx. 12% per hour. This just started happening approx. 1 week ago. I truly believe it has something to do with Play Services but no way of really knowing.

Problems after 5.0.1 update

I updated a couple of days ago to the android wear 5.0.1 OS and the latest android wear app...
Great work was done on the watchface API. Watchfaces are now more organized and accessible..
The biggest problem I'm facing now is the huge Battery Drain.
Watch can no longer last through the day.. I put it on at atound 6:30 in the morning.. At 2:30 PM, I'll be down to 15%.
What good is a watch if it can't last a normal day?
I think i might have jumped on the android wear wagon too soon.
Now I'm stuck with a useless device in my wrist.
Do you have a lot of 3rd party apps for the watch? I"m just guessing but it could be that these 3rd party apps aren't optimized to work with 5.0.1. Perhaps you could remove those apps and see how it goes.
And I assume that you've already done a reset?
I've made it through about 16 hours and am down to 46%. What are you doing to run it down so much? I have wrist activation turned off and ambient mode turned off. I do have Facer running with a watch face that gives weather and battery stats, but that's the only thing that would drain my battery.
I have not reset... I have two third party apps.. A compass and phone lost detection..
I'll reset and feedback here.. Good advice man thanks.
I have the same problem once i got the update even facer also updated battery life is bad again
Im having the same problem also. But after turn off BT a night, next day turn in again, the problem fix magically. Problem now is sometimes having difficulty to charge it. Need to turn off BT again then only can fully charge. Btw, didnt reset after system update.[/QUOTE]

Same thing happened to me. I usually take my watch off the cradle around 8am and get home from work around 6pm. Usually have about 60% life remaining. I'm using just the built in digital watch face. Today was my first full day on 5.0.1 update and my watch died before 3pm. I can't believe it. Hoping it's just a fluke. Think I'll go one more day and if it happens again will try a reset.

The reset did improved the battery performance for me.
I don't see any harm in resetting as this is a watch after all, so little will be lost.
However, the battery performance surely improved but it did not return the watch to the same battery performance as before the update.
I used to pick up the watch at 6:30 AM and put it on the dock at 11:30 PM with 48-50 percent left.
Now I pick it up at 6:30 and put it on the dock at 10 PM with 15 percent left. But it's still surely an improvement before the reset and after the update (I got only 5 hours before I decided to reset)
I still haven't installed ANY third party apps at all. I can only imagine how the performance will decrease if I install phone lost detection or any other Bluetooth-demanding apps.
i am finding that i'm getting slightly less battery life, but i make it through the day fine. i'm starting to wonder how much the accelerometer is killing battery. they finally integrated the option to disable "tilt to wake" and i have seen an improvement only at work where moving my hands on the keyboard. on the weekends, when i'm just wearing/walking, etc., tilt to wake makes no difference.
I got the latest 5.0.1 update on my watch seem like battery life is back! Im at 65% and its 4pm I removed it from the charger at around 5am .
My previous problem was I had the 4.4w on my watch and Facer that was on Android 5.0 . That was the reason for the bad battery life.
I've been on 5.0.1 for a couple days now and while battery life seems unchanged to me, the watch does seem to have a hard time charging to 100%. I got home from work and put it on the charger and usually it charges to 100% within an hour. Now I noticed it would get to about 85-90% and stop charging completely. The blue circle charging screen stays on but it doesn't keep charging. I left it on the charger all night and it was at 86% when I picked it up in the morning. Anyone else seeing this issue?

I have pretty much the same issue with my Moto 360, except in my case I only get to 75~78%, less than yours. I've been googling here and there about this one, but so far no luck with fixes or workarounds. I've e-mailed Motorola and, although I don't except a lot from them, hopefully they get back to me with something useful.
i think i noticed this also! hovered around 85% -ish.
i just took it off the charger, put it back and then it has not happened since. this was a couple days ago.
stock stock stock all the way homie! latest updates. nex 6 paired.
Yeah seems ok to me now too. Strange.

Really strange battery drain

Hello there,
I've a new G4 since last friday and I'm experiencing a really strange battery drain.
Let's say I will charge my phone to 100% and than leave it idle, it will start discharging really slowly with all syncs active (for example last night it lost 2% in 8 hours). That's cool.
The problem is that as soon as I start using it again it will drain really fast, like 1% every 2 minutes. What is strange is that after start using it it will drain fast (1% every 10 minutes) even if i will let it idle again, so screen off and same operations as the 2% lost during 8h in the night.
At the moment I'm in Germany and I've experienced same drain ratio under good and bad cell signal and wifi. My model is H815. I'm not rooted so I cannot see good statistics in BBS.
I've already tried a factory reset.
Thanks everyone fo the help
I would start with checking the battery information inside settings. In there it will give the biggest battery drains. If you're lucky, you'll see something else up top that is not Android System, Android OS, or the screen.

I have the same problem. That's why I have a spare battery + charging cradle + power bank. Maybe I'll need to flash again since my device is not acting normally.

Today it seems better, only stuff I've changed is that I've disabled the quick cirlce cover since I don't have it but I don't think is related. At the momento I'm at 50% after 7h of wich 2h and 15min of screen time. Seems good to me.
I will go on testing during the weekend and I will report back. I hope the culprits are not rocket player (and mediaserver sice my music is on the SD card) but I've noticed a higher battery drain when using it. (today I haven't that much)
Those are some very good stats so far. Poised to hit 4h on the dot for SoT which is considered the expected average
I had to use a different launcher rather than the stock one and also a quick circle app and that was it

It is, if you were to continue you would be looking at 12h+ of run time.

i think that is just reindexing of content on the sd card. It is temporary. It could also mean that your sd card is going bad and more reads were required.

I've tested the card and seems good, It's strange that is still indexing it, I've the phone since one week now.
The charge after the one that seemed ok was totally bad. I'll investigate more
Thanks everyone
If you add files or remove them then i think it triggers indexing. Leave it for a while it should go away after some time.
if it does not try a different card. I only use the red sandisk class 10 cards, these give the least problems.

This of course is way, way too long.
Usually this is because of a corrupt/unreadable/unknown file on the external SD. Copy all files to PC, format the card, restore files. The media scanner will now end it's process in a matter of minutes :good:
So I've investigated a bit during the past few days, those are the results:
- Media server is not anymore keeping the device awake that much
- It seems that RocketPalyer is using a lot of CPU compared to what it was doing on my Note 3.
- Battery drain still seems a bit random, yesterday for example i got 16 hours with 4h and 3min of screen time, today I'm already at 56% after 5h and only 1h and 20min of screen time (I'ìve not changed what I did with the device that much, and I'm under same network and wifi as yesterday at work)
I think that if I want to understand why sometimes is acting weird I will have to root and use wakelock detectors, btw now that I saw that the device is not faulty (I was able to get good battery time on some days) I'm not afraid that much anymore to root it.
Thanks everyone

you have normal sot. 4-5hsot with wifi.
have been trying to figure out keep awakes with people that can't get more than half as much.

There is a way to see wake locks without root.

I get 2.5 to 3 on work days.
I get spotty signal at my desk and the skytrain makes my phone go on a major drain

draining battery fast.

First two days I had the phone it had great battery. I was getting 16-18 hours of life with 4-6 sot. Now the last two days at work it's worse than my op2. By the time I got home yesterday I was at like 35%. Previous days I was well over 60.My android system is taking most of the blame. On my good days it was at like 8% when the phone would die. Right now with my phone at 79% it's already at the top with 5%. I've barely used the phone while I'm at work right now. It's been unplugged for 3 hours and my sot is 35 minutes. Not sure if it's got something to do with the ambient display. Maybe finger print scanner. Any one have ideas?
Download gsm battery monitor, are you rooted?

Not rooted yet. Didn't want to loose dash charge with a new rom but cat just chewed the cord so guess I'll make a jump. Is that only a rooted app?

Humm I thought it was the other way around. Nevertheless I have WiFi at work. Can't remember if I was on it though. I'll have to test that out.
You don't have to run a custom rom or loose dash charge cause your rooted. I'm still using stock oxygen 3.1.3,and have the basic functions like dash charge working. I'm not sure if you have to be rooted to use gsm, cause I'm always rooted, but it may gave you more specific insight as to what exactly is draining your battery quickly.

You know the image you attached, with the graph on it? Tap that and check the Awake heading. Is it one long solid blue bar? If yes: your phone stays awake (doesn't go in deep sleep mode). Does restarting it make a difference (i.e. does the solid blue bar get broken up)?
The problem emerged on my OP3 as well yesterday AND I had it on my prevous phone (a OPO). On the OPO the problem was that it wouldn't release a wakelock that kicked in during charging. While I haven't explored the problem on my new OP3 enough to know if this is the same problem, here's what fixed it for me if the problem is indeed charger related: when charged to your liking turn off your phone with the charging cable still in. Once turned off, remove the cable and restart the phone.

I'll have to check that out. I'll root today. Just haven't had a need with the OP3 I'm digging this version of oxygen and not missing any of my root abilities. Also I use android pay. But I guess I can live without it lol

Are you talking about under history details? I'll check tonight once my phone is drained. I did a battery cycle yesterday. Let it die and charged to 100 while it was off. We'll see how it goes today. And your saying it was an actual charger problem?
Heavy battery drain might have to do with the "pocket problem". The fingerprint sensor constantly activates and is not properly blocked by the proximity sensor.
There are several threads and posts about it, here and on the oneplus forums...

Yea I had that once in a while with my op2 I'd take the phone out of my pocket and it would say too many attempts at the scanner. Nothing on this phone like that though. And of course today is a different story with the battery lol its good today. So maybe it's while I'm at work. Idk it's odd. I need some more testing. Currently I'm at 9.5 hours on battery with 56% left and almost 3 hours sot. I'll see how this week goes at work and see if I can diagnose anything
I've been having this problem as well, losing as much as up to 20% of battery overnight, while it was doing absolutely nothing. I've tried a couple of things, but last night it 'only' drained 5%, betterbatterystats reports 0.6% of drainage per hour.
I think this is due to the weather option in the launcher, could anyone else try turning it off and see if battery life improves significantly?

You don't even need to do that. You can just check it after an hour or even less. Just put the phone away for an hour with the screen off and check history details.

Not quite. I'm saying it was a wakelock that kicked in during charging and that wasn't released when I took the phone off the charger. I don't know if it was the charger caused the wakelock.
Great for two days now I'm leaving work with 45% battery and only an hour and a half sot. Unplugged for 9 hours. Idk I feel like it's hit or miss
