I've just switched network providers and haven't set up the data connection yet, but I've noticed that the phone has been repeatedly trying to access GPRS all day - about 15-20 times between 10am and 4:30pm.
I use SPB Mobile Shell 3, and have the weather app set to update manually. I also have Outlook set to send/receive manually, so I can't work out which application is trying to access the net. Does anyone know how I can find out, before I clock up a huge data bill?
What about the auto web page loading thingy? Have you set that up???
No - I've never enabled it.
I've just installed SPB Wireless Monitor and the two processes that seem to be doing it are system.exe and services.exe. These both sound like naive WM processes, so don't really give me a clue what's going on.
I read in another post that Google Maps/Latitude may connect to the internet regularly, so I disabled that feature but there's still something connecting on a regular basis.
???
The only other thing I am aware it could be is the Manila Facebook updater that's built into the contacts part of TF3D2. Check that out:
People->All People->3rd Tab(person with a clock)->Menu->Data connection setting

I have TF3D2 disabled as I use SPB Mobile Shell. Hence I'm not even able to access the TF3D menu. Is there any way of checking this without removing SPB Mobile Shell?
Does anyone know of a program which will selectively allow internet access to specified applications only?
You could try this one: NO DATA app
Thanks - I already run NoData, but I'd like something which explicitly allows net access to some apps but not to others. That way I won't have to remember to switch GPRS on every time I want to browse, and off when I'm finished.
I finally worked out which app was accessing the net - it was the Funambol client. The newer version is set to "Push" updates by default, rather than sync manually. Now I can finally leave my 3G access enabled without fear of clocking up unexpected charges....

Hello, what is Funambol? I have the same problem (connecting to GPRS network frequently), but I didnt find such application. Thank you.
It's a SyncML client - allows synchronisation of my calendar, contacts etc with my Google calendar/Gmail contacts
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you or anybody else have any idea which application is still connection to the net? I'm using neither Opera nor TF.
Ok first is Sweet Home WiFi Picture Backup by SweeSoft.
It automatically uploads your pictures and videos to your home
computer when connected to your network and charging. You can
change what it uploads, where it uploads, and when it uploads. The
Free Alfa version works great for me with no limitations, I will
definelty be getting the donate version of this one.
Next is SanDisk Memory Zone by SanDisk Corp.
I found this totally by accident, it tests your sd cards speed,
shows how much space is left on internal and external sd cards,
and links to many online accounts to show how much space you have left.
It has its own file browser that lets you upload/download files between your
sd cards and online services. It also has a backup/restore feature
to the online services. I have found it very useful managing files across
several logins/accounts.
Finally is one I found in an old Titanium folder from my EPIC 4g
It is Called WifiBackup w/ 2-Way Sync by MobileFramework
I was only able to find a reference to it on AppBrain but no file, there
is a WifiBackup Pro for 1.99 but it hasn't been updated in a while. This
app was a favorite because you could set it to run at a certain time or hit it
manually and it would backup your entire sd card over wifi to your pc. Set up
was a breeze and it syncs both ways. I'm not sure yet if it backups both internal
and external. I will update post when first sync finishes.
So what are your best/coolest apps?

For me, I love DiskUsage along with Solid Explorer. It's a great tool combo to see what's eating up your internal and external SD storage.
Oh...and first ))
Tweetings for Twitter - is my favorite twitter client. if anyone has a better one other than tweetcaster, etc let me know.
Twicca - My other twitter client I had used before Tweetings.

If you like twitter apps, I really like Falcon. It has a great UI and it has a separate widget thats really great also.
Thanks for the other input fellas.
I've been using Tweedle as my everyday twitter client for a while. I see no reason to change yet.

Heres how i did it.
In win7 set up another user account with admin rights.
Go to root directory on your PC and create a folder to save the pics in.
Right click on folder and choose share with, in blank box click arrow then the new user name then add.
In the bottom box to the right of the new user name click read and then change it to read/write.
It will then give you the share name. You'll need this and the new user/password.
In Sweet Home App Use full settings
Automatic Upload chooses when the app uploads your pictures
Select Collections chooses which folders on your phone to upload
Next
if your connected to your WIFI at home just choose next. You have to be connected to your home network for the set up.
Next
enter your user name and password in to the user information boxes.
under Network Share Press button to browse.
Press IP/Name and enter your computers name or internal ip address. Then your back button. Choose your share folder. Then your back button.
Next
in Organize folders I chose '-' and Seperate Collections
The first one decides how it groups your photos i chose none. '2013' would group them in folders by year taken '2013/01' would group them in folders by years and month. The Seperate Collections keeps the folder names you have set up on your phone. So pictures in Camera\vacation on the phone would be saved as Camera\Vacation. if you grouped by '2013' you would get Camera\vacation\2012 Camera\Vacation\2013 .....
That should get you going. The biggest pain is making windows share the folder. I have noticed it hangs up on large videos sometimes but i think it might be my router as the only thing that fixes it is to unplug and replug the router. Rebooting the PC, rebooting phone, Cycling WIFI on/off, or clearing app cache wouldn't let it start back up, but unpluging and repluging the router has fixed it everytime.
Hope that helps

Dropbox

Dropbox and other cloud services are great if you have the extra space. I usually take lots of pics and videos that would use up the initial 5gb pretty quick, plus having to upload and then download back to computer. Once you get the windows part done you are pretty well set. File managers like astro and solid explorer can then be setup so you can access your PC shares from your phone for easy file transfers without plugging in.

Under My Files you'll see Titanium Backup folder and under that you'll see the backed up files. Just make a rar file and upload it to Dropbox. Easy.
You'll need a PC for that.
'Swyped' from my GT-N7100
In TB do this:
Menu
Preferences
Enable dropbox
Dropbox settings, insert login/upload location, etc.
Exit to main TB screen
Schedules
Depending how you have things already scheduled, either modify one or create a new schedule
Under "When finished" select "Sync to Dropbox".
Profit.
I created a once a week schedule that backs up all new and modified apps and syncs to my dropbox.

I keep my backups on my computer all the time I want to upload them to dropbox incase anything goes wrong. also paying £4.50 and cant do what they promise is annoying me.
Go into your Preferences -> Cloud sync settings; and enable dropbox.
Does the first screen of Titanium now say "Cloud storage: Dropbox" with a green check mark?
Do you see a "sync to dropbox" schedule in the Schedules tab? Try running that now.

Right, set your desired folder name in remote location, select what to sync (everything for me), and if you have more than one backup in history enabled select how many to sync.
That's it.. it uses the installed Dropbox that you should have already configured on your device. Under schedules you should now see: sync to Dropbox. Give it a test RUN, if it works, add the option to one of your schedules as I outlined above.

The problem isn't TB, it is a user error for sure. Just because you can't figure something out doesn't mean it doesn't work. We are trying to help you, I am away from home now, but next week when I return I can do screenshots and a full walkthrough for you, but not unless you drop the attitude, this is not someone elses problem or fault. Try some patience, and maybe you can figure out the problem.
Sorry if I am being harsh, but you really shouldn't expect people to hold your hand through every problem you have. And sure, maybe there wasn't a login screen as I thought I remembered, but had you just continued with the steps as I outlined them it probably would have worked, instead you just threw the towel in and blamed TB.

thanks mate finally found it
Guys.. when i hit run to make a backup on my dropbox, permission screen appears but in that screen i can't do anything. my touchscreen works fine, cause i can drop the nofications panel so it's not freezing. it's only the dropbox login buttons won't respond. so far tried reinstalling dropbox, rebooting phone, even created an input script to hit allow button. none of these worked. "cancel" and use a "different account doesn't" work too. pls advise. thx
fixed issue by uninstalling dropbox and than merging dropbox and titanium backup using chrome browser and reisntalling. but i don't understand why it doesn't work with the app? any ideas?

This depends on where you have the appropriate space. Otherwise it does not really make any difference.
Any tips on how to use the Dropbox data once synced? I see no options for restoring from it.

Fixed click add schedule for box and it uploaded to Dropbox whatever it works. Haas's to configure cloud storage for both. Not sure why it uploaded to Dropbox when I chose box but it works. :highfive:
I was having problems too with cloud storage after backup. I believe that the options selection are messed up: if you choose Box it will try to sync to Dropbox; if you choose Drive it will try to sync to Box, etc. In my case, I had to select 'Reboot the device' to correctly having it syncing to Google Drive.
WHY?
"Go into your Preferences -> Cloud sync settings; and enable dropbox.
Does the first screen of Titanium now say "Cloud storage: Dropbox" with a green check mark?
Do you see a "sync to dropbox" schedule in the Schedules tab? Try running that now."
I would sure like to know why the above has not been included in the online documentation for Titanium Backup.
Imagine the countless wasted hours that people have spent trying to make this work on their own, until they discover this forum...
Hy,
anyone saw that the new gallery update brings "Browse your photos and videos in the cloud" functionality?
Now I sure dont see any option for this but at night I got a notification from Coud that "duplicates has been deleted"...
I dont know where I can find this features, but I sure dont want any photos/videos uploaded to cloud without my permission... So if anyone have any info on this, I would really appreciate it.
Best regards
X2
I have an htc one m7 that I just updated to the latest version, after a reboot it shows the same message "gallery cloud" duplicate... etc
It didnt ask for my permission, I have the htc sync disabled, cant seem to find the option to disable this POS. Not happy.
I just noticed this morning the same behavior. I am trying to find out where this service is coming from, why it is running without my permissions and why it is putting my personal information in the cloud somewhere and I don't know where or how to get it, shut it off, or change it. It has really pissed me off to no end. I am hoping someone has an idea.
Just came here looking for the same answer.
A bit of a **** move if HTC is uploading peoples pics without asking first!!
I've emailed HTC via the play store app and asked how do we turn this feature off. I'll post if I get an answer...
Chiming in. just saw this, not pleased. I'm thinking of disabling the app till a solution is found.
I might bin it too, don't want this feature using up my data allowance...I've got about 4000 pictures on my phone...
yea wtf
Same issue. my phone keeps giving me a Cloud Gallery notification every 10 minutes or so saying it deleted duplicate photos. What in the world HTC was thinking, we may never know. But they need to let us turn this off because I show it using my data. Not cool HTC.
To add to it, I open my gallery and its cycling through all of my photos. Constantly. I click a folder, then the 'highlights' starts fast-cycling through every single photo in the folder. Not like a preview as it used to (which was annoying). This needs to stop. As someone else mentioned, I also have thousands of photos on my phone and this is driving me nuts.

HTC Cloud Gallery does not upload any of your files to the cloud. It only indexes whatever you have on Dropbox, GDrive, FB, Flickr, only after you have agreed to link to those sites. If you see photos found by Cloud Gallery, those could be uploaded by Dropbox or GDrive automatically. You need to check their settings. Again, Cloud Gallery is a "read only" indexing service.
Started getting the same notification since the last few days -- and the worst part is that there doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere in the gallery app or in the system settings allowing to configure this "Cloud Sync" or turn it off all together.
And now I really don't know if my pictures got "synced" somewhere in someone's cloud Really annoying. Uninstalled the gallery app altogether with Titanium Backup root uninstall.

I have the same issue. Haven't found a solution yet but I wanted to let you know that freezing/uninstalling gallery will stop the cloud syncs but there are side affects.
I froze it and all seemed normal until I tried to set a contact image. Freezing gallery somehow disrupted the ability to link images to contacts. I tried it from within the contact app and through a third party gallery app and it wouldn't work either way. I had to defrost the HTC gallery in order to set the contact image.
There maybe other side affects but that was the only one that I ran into.
Hi All,
Does the OnePlus 5T running OxygenOS 5.0.3 work with Dropbox properly. Dropbox the app loads, I can access my cloud files and upload files manually no problem. But the camera upload feature does not work all the time. If I restart my phone it will upload photos for a few seconds and then stop working again. Is this behaviour anyone else has witnessed too? I am at a loss at how to correct this problem. I contact OnePlus support, they claim its not their problem. I have contacted Dropbox support, they claim its a OnePlus issue with the OS interfering with the app. I feel like I'm stuck now with no solution. I haven't been able to come across anyone else with this problem. Any ideas/help would really be appreciated. I find the fact that it uploads for a short period of time then stops really bizarre. Would this support Dropbox's claim that the OP software is somehow interfering to kill off background transfers or something?
Have you checked the settings for anything that might require WiFi for uploads? I know with Google drive, for instance, it will only upload/download things if you're on wifi by default, but there is a setting to allow uploads and downloads on mobile data too. I don't use Dropbox, but that was my first thought.
My other thought is to to into your Doze settings and check it Dropbox is being optimized. If it is being optimized, you may want to try setting it to not optimized and see if that fixes your issue.
Good luck!

Yeah I've tried changing things like allowing Dropbox to upload via WiFi only, WiFi and data. I've also changed the settings around the battery level (i.e. only upload when battery is >30%).
I've turned off the optimise settings for Dropbox; that is the Dropbox setting under "Battery optimisation" is set to "Don't optimise" if that's what you mean. Is that what the doze settings are? I can't find anything specifically around Doze in the settings anywhere. Also in the app settings Dropbox is set to allow "Background activity". I've attached 2 screenshots, but I look at the 2 screenshots attached from different settings screens they say different things though. One says optimisation is off, the other says its on?
Finding OP very frustrating on this, its the only device I own that has this issue so its definitely something on the phone being funny. Dropbox are adamant its a OP issue not a Dropbox issue; but the OP support guys just blow you off instantly and tell you to talk to the app developer. Just no interest at all in looking into it.

I did the exact same things, and still having the same problem, too. It will only upload when I open the app.
Any news on this one guys? Experiencing the same issues after upgrading my Samsung S8 to Oreo.
Uploads only working fine once.. after that only a manual upload is possible (or turning off -and back on again the camera uploads)
Pretty annoying
