Me after a problem with the sim as it is blocked momentarily I restarted my phone with 10 cm and suddenly you are stuck on the animation, so I decided to install a new rom, starting from 0, ie starting from the stock and then make the the next steps, and I made them all really (Root, CMW, wipe data cache davilk cache, data cache format system etc.) delivery with installation and all is well, but despite the success, when I turn the phone on the block ' animation of the Roma, and despite spending a considerable amount of time (about an hour) does not start, and this problem will reply with different rom, how can I solve? What happened to my phone? Before the problem with the sim everything was fine HELP

Are you using CWM? That is important. Also, clear data, cache, dalvik and system if you are flashing CM10 from GB.
Edit: Sorry, noticed you said that...

Okay, thats good! is ur back-up saved on external sd card? if it is, try to restore ur working ROM first.
do the following:
1. boot into recovery
2. wipe/ format the following (find the proper entry in the CWM menu structure):
/data
/system
/cache
Dalvik Cache -- please note that this is *different* from the /cache of the previous line!
Internal SD
Leave the External SD! DO NOT FORMAT!
3. restore ur back-up ROM
4. reboot
I have installed several times the rom on galaxy w, always with a good result, but one day when riavviai normally my phone with above cm10, went into bootloop for no reason, at this point ripristinai everything and re-installing gingerbread, then repeat again the whole practice, but since that fateful day I no longer install any rom, the device must always be in bootloop, it only works gingerbread, why what has happened?

You probably clear the /system after you flashed the rom. Or you didn't flash the rom at all.

Ok :/ I can't really figure out what's wrong. It sounds strange that everything work fine on stock, but bootloops when flashing CM.
Have you tried any other custom rom to see if it's the same problem?

Fix permissions will not work. It does not do anything, but its a waste if time. In the updated recoveries, it has been removed because its just a placebo.

Hi.
I have an e975 and flashed philz cwm recovery (in the thread says "kit kat ready"), then flashed omnirom (excellent rom) but it installed in data/media/0 instead of data/media, why is that? In philz recovery --> advanced I specified data/media.
Can anyone help me solve that problem? It's annoying to have to move all my data from one place to another and back if I decide to restore to where I was.
Thank you

Android 4.1 has no multiuser function
since 4.2 there is multiuser option
User 1 has as storage sdcard/0, user2 sdcard/10, user3 sdcard/20, .... thats the "problem"
Any way to solve it? I've been reading and it says I have to update my cwm version but I have the latest and still the same problem

I think you got the media storage option in philz recovery in wrong way....its not to specify the media path for rom rather its to specify the media path for the recovery to do backup and restore your rom...:good:

What @hasan4791 is trying to say is that the path you specify in PhilZ recovery (the last option under Advanced) has nothing to do with how ROM is using the storage, and where it puts the data. It's strictly for the recovery itself. The folder structure for user data is different between Android versions, as already explained. It's the way it is, there is nothing to fix...

It couldn't be more clear. Thanks for the lesson.
Thread closed.
One more thing, if we like to jump from rom to rom, better is to move al our files to data/media/0, so every rom can see them, that's why I opened this thread, because I flashed 4.4 and all of my files were gone

Hi,
A few minutes ago I was trying to wipe the cache and when i restarted the phone it was stuck in the bootloop and I can't enter recovery either. What should I do? My phone isn't rooted or unlocked
Ok, I solved it installing adb and intel drivers and once I was in command prompt via adb I used the command "Fastboot erase cache" so it is now solved and everything works
same problem, same solution. Thank you
The same here. This bug was not present in earlier version firmware.

Today new system update. Someone tried to wipe cache?
Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00AD con Tapatalk 2
My friends tried to reboot the phone, and as there was a pattern on startup, they tried and failed. But when i tried to unlock the phone with right pattern, it shows me a screen with "Decryption unsuccessful. The password you entered is correct, but unfortunately your data is corrupt. To resume, you need to factory reset the phone."
Now, the pattern does not work in TWRP as well, it shows decryption unsuccessful on correct pattern. I need to extract the data from sdcard somehow, then i can wipe it. But not able to access sdcard. Is there any way without wiping /sdcard/?
I have a previously made nandroid backup, that's it. But due to TWRP not able to decrypt storage, it fails to restore.
If I were in your shoes, I would reboot in fastboot mode and I would install TWRP v3.0.4-1 again. Once I were in twrp, from file manager I would go to data/system and I would delete the 2 "*.*key" files and the 3 "lock*.*" files. Then, I would reboot system and so on...

Reboot to recovery and then, connect your device to the pc. In this way, try to access to the sdcard. If you have success, you can copy your nandroid to the pc. If you can't, you will have to do a full reset and reinstall a new rom.

Yes, you don't need to do wipe for internal sd card to install a rom. Try it, but if after that you can't read it, you will have to format the internal memory and you will lose its data

If you couldn't install it yet, you can still try another way.
Install stock recovery and then, install stock rom by sideload. In this way, I think it won't format internal sd card. Then, you can install TWRP recovery again. If after all you can 't read the internal sd card, you will have to format it. I don't know what else you can do.

Why would he be hard bricked by wiping system before flashing another ROM?
Because folder System is mandatory to be fount by flashing operations. If not fount, the flashing operations stops and result into bootloop. In other words new ROM must find system in order to overwrite some files only, while it keeps unchanged other ones. If he doesn't find any file (folder system cancelled) it is clear that some ROM parts are missing and return a bootloop.

Agreed. Wiping system is pointless for the OP. Just do factory reset (wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache) if you want to do a clean install. Keep it simple. :highfive:

Okay. No wipe system. I'll stay with the desire.
What all of you fail to understand is that the rom edify script itself wipes your system partition anyway...
Yet you guys claim it would brick the system... Which is nonsense.
Even if you wiped the system partition, the recovery would still be unaffected, which means you could just install a ROM of choice to revive the phone.

You're absolutely right. I will correct myself because the rom above was wiping the system anyway; any good full rom does as you mentioned regarding the rom script.
However, let's say he didn't make a backup, his download of the rom was corrupted, or this was just an incremental update, then he might run into errors. I've come across many flashing too fast without reading and doing things incorrectly, and they end up with bricked devices. It's better leaving the OS alone and let the update script of the rom take care of it. Simple factory reset (wipe data, cache and dalvik cache) is usually enough.
