So I have been trying to unlock my bootloader for four months, and have failed literally every time at the same step.
The step being, fastboot oem get_identifier_token
Waiting for device
Unknown command
Time taken 0.003 seconds.
If anyone can help me unlock my bootloader, that would be great.
Also, I am unable to enter into 'hboot', it directly goes to recovery mode. (volume down + home button). All my device drivers are installed (HTC sync manager recognised my phone once, but after it recognised all the music, it immediately showed no device found).
This is my current situation, please help me out here!

1. My FASTBOOT USB page looks like the picture I attach for you.
2. If you cannot get the Identifier Token of your device, as you said, you cannot proceed to Step 7 and submit the Identifier Token to htcdev. And so they cannot email you the "Unlock_code.bin" file.
3. Can you upload a clear picture of the page you enter by pressing vol down+power?
4. Are you sure your device is supported by htcdev? (your exact model is not listed on their to be selected. Ask htc.com via online chat whether your device is supported or not.)

I guess that the problem is the mode where the device is in.
1. In your device's "Developers options" is there two following options?
USB Debugging
OEM Unlocking
2. If yes, are both enabled?

i am trying to unlock my bootloader on my "T-Mobile G2", the HTC G2 (Vision), using my macbook pro (OS 10.8.5) and the newest version of fastboot (i just downloaded adt-bundle-mac-x86_64-20131030.zip and the files were right there).
on my HTC G2 screen it says FASTBOOT USB all nice and waiting for me...
i am in my platform-tools folder where fastboot lives and i type:
$ ./fastboot oem get_identifier_token
and it says:
...
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.007s]
finished. total time: 0.007s
but WHY??? arrrrrgg.
$ fastboot devices
shows the phone is there.
my firmware is Android 2.3.4.
i was just reading that because i have HBOOT 0.82 it wont work... god... so how do i upgrade HBOOT? why is this such a pain?
I have a Desire without OS, it can boot into fastboot. Is there any way to know if USB debugging was switched on from here? I tried to unlock the bootloader, im on S-ON, but keep getting errors:
C:\Users\Alienanihilator\Desktop\Roms\HTC Roms\HTC One X\HTC_fastboot_files>fast
boot oem get_identifier_token
...
(bootloader) [ERR] Command error !!!
OKAY [ 0.016s]
finished. total time: 0.016s
Maybe has to do with USB debugging not being turned on before?

You can't unlock the bootloader if it's not version 1.03.0001.

Thanks for the tip, I just did that, but still it keeps freezing when booting. Maybe some issue with the hardware I guess.
Received phone today - 3rd HTC - Sensation>One S>M8
Just Unlocked via HTC Dev site
Flashed latest TWRP - openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-m8.img - and also tried two previous versions. The two latest versions make the phone load right back into hboot screen. First version hangs for a moment, making me think it will boot into Recovery, then phone just reboots.
Will not boot into recovery
Cannot boot from Fastboot and adb says error: device not found.
Latest drivers installed
I even reinstalled HTC Sync

Yes, fast boot has been disabled from the security settings and USB debugging is on.

Maybe you flashed recovery into boot partition by omission?
Did you use
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-m8.img
Yes, as far as I can tell, I flashed the recovery correctly.

I would be very happy if someone knew a solution

I have LG F180s, I used tinybeen+LGnpst tutorial, I can fastboot which has information like:
Product_name: Mako
Variant: mako 32gb
bootloader version: makoz10f
secure boot: enabled
lock state: unlocked
I tried your fastboot variables i.e.
fastboot.exe getvar cid (returns empty value for cid)
fastboot.exe getvar modelid (returns empty value for modelid)
Its been 3 days, that I am trying to get into recovery. I have tried both TWRP and CWM recoveries (various versions for LS970, Mako, PhilZ). I have also tried flashing stock ROM via LG Flash Tool 2014, completes successfully but phone enters BootLoop.
Therefore teenybins+LGnpst took me out of bootloop but now it cannot enter recovery. Although Teenybins say that they include TWRP

Actually if you still have the red warning then the Ruu likely didn't fully flash. You shouldn't have that message if it successfully flashes.

Yeah I still believe that a fully flashed matching Ruu will clear that flag. Can you try flashing again and see if the dev flag clears?

I've got the lastest sdk tools and google usb driver installed and still get a fail when trying to run fastboot flashing unlock. I also have allow oem unlocking checked. Is there something I'm missing?
C:\Android>adb reboot bootloader
C:\Android>fastboot devices
7xxxxxxxxxxxx5 fastboot
C:\Android>fastboot flashing unlock
...
FAILED (command write failed (No error))
finished. total time: 0.003s

Try a different cable?
Unfortunately I am at work and only have the C to C cable that was in the box.
My sdk/platform tools files are the same ones I've used with my 6P since 11-2015, and unlocking the 2 XL bl worked on the first attempt.
my process:
pow button + vol down
open cmd prompt in platform tools folder
fastboot devices (recognized my device)
fastboot flashing unlock
use vol up to select UNLOCK MY BOOTLOADER
power, to confirm
erases everything,
restarts
profit

I started off with what I was using with my pixel XL and that didn't work and I have installed about 10 different version thus far and still nothing
I basically ended up using another cable, different version of adb, and another computer. Hard to tell what the problem exactly was since I changed 3 things at the same time between it not working and working. My guess is the cable and/or the computer.
