Do you think it will be worth it to upgrade from my GS3 to the NOTE II?
I have read in the other gnote 2 forum there is a lot of other gs3 users who made the switch and are far happier with the note 2. U might want to take a look over there and see what they say

I returned my GS3 in order to get this phone. With all the quad cores coming out I felt that staying with a dual core would be a bad choice for my first android device. In reality it is all a matter of preference, I plan to use the s-pen in my college classes.
im doing it!
someone will buy my GS3 for $400 or so on craigslist. So i'm buying the $650 no commitment price and i have $100 gift card at best buy. so itll be $150 to me.. no biggie
I had a att s3 and sold it to buy a tmobile note 2 .got it unlocked and started using it on att the note 2 is so bad ass. I loved it.i recommended .

is there any disadvantage to not having the att model or are they alike in every way? I preordered my phone off contract from att. i suppose if the tmobile version is the same i could skip the wait..
Any of you guys having regrets now that the nexus 4 was announced. I'm still in love with the not but the debate is still stuck in my head lol.

I've got the same debate going on in my head and it's compounded by my sons (both CompE grads) urging me to get the Nexus 4. I've been enamored with the Note, since the original came out. I'll get the N2 on the 9th and use it for 3-4 days. I'll know at that time, whether it's the right one for me. If not, I'll return it and get the Nexus.
didnt they leave LTE off the nexus 4? That's a dealbreaker for me

Yes. That drove me back to Note 2. Fortunately I kept my pre-order.
I like the N4 and stock Android, but I don't want to live another 2 years with HSPA+.

Where did you get the unlock code?
I sell phones. I play with both and own a note 2. It's a personal thing, but if you are a power user, which I think you are because you are on XDA then you will LOVE the Note II. Once you use it you can't go back.
* The screen is so much better and brighter than SG3.
* jellybean and 1.6GHz Quad Core processor makes everything buttery smooth
* watching youtube videos are stunning in HD
* extra large screen is great for gaming! especally on emulators.
* Using it as a E-Reader for my Kindle App Books work superbly well as the screen is the size of a small paperback book page

And no removeable battery or micro sd card slot. Now thats just crazy google. This note 2 should be a monster. It includes all of the above and then some. The at&t version does have rgb led notifications right? I havent seen any videos showing it. And I definitely want to use light flow.
Yeah it's the same as the international

I know it's built into stock android but didn't know if Samsung left it alone when doing it up in tw or if it's still there.

I can see it on my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 WIFI version. but its no where to be found on the P605 Hong Kong version. I am in the USA. I am still on J6. I keep trying OTA update but it says all updates are already installed.

Anyone want to trade their Developer Edition Note 4 for my Stock Verizon Note 4? Just as I said I need a rooted phone it will be a good phone for someone who don't want a developer edition. Or if someone can root the phone I will be a tester! Thanks guys

Why in the world would anyone trade you a dev edition for the retail version? Who would trade down? That's nonsensical

Yeah, no offense taken. I too would like to trade, but I agree without any additional incentive, it is nonsensical.
How about my stock Note 4 plus $150.00 for a Note 4 DE?

Even when they achieve root it will still be locked. Nobody will ever run a custom kernel on a retail Note 4.

Thank you for your reply. You are correct. I did not pencil that out for a rational cost justification.
Well, in that case, I suppose that I am stuck. I hope there bootloader unlock solution available before I complete my last payment for my Note 4 on the Verizon plan. If not, I will have to spring for a DE and pay the full price.
Along with that $150.00 I can throw in a couple of flip phones, a windows tablet and a rooted S5!!!
Keep an eye on this thread. Once in a while someone offers to sell one. That's how I got mine.

When we flashed the original stock LP update on the DE phones it broke the screen brightness adjustment. The kernel had to be replaced to fix it. Doing this gave the phone great battery life because there were tweaks that enhanced it.
Personally, I could never own a locked phone. The Verizon Note 2 originally was unlocked. Those of us who rooted them were able to keep them unlocked. The non rooted community eventually got an update that locked them. My Note 4 DE may be my last Verizon phone. They actually seem to be winning out against the development community.

No, not according to my Developer Edition. The model number for the Developer Edition Note 4 on Verizon is SM-N910VMKEVZW. The only difference between the retail version and the developer edition is the bootloader. The developer edition has an unlocked boot loader so it can be rooted and a custom recovery installed. The developer edition has all the same hardware and software as the retail...including all the bloatware.

The retail version cannot be rooted. You can buy a Developer edition directly from Samsung. Google Verizon Developer Edition Note 4. There's a couple ways, in recovery you can read the "unlocked" status. Developer Device is enscribed under the battery.

Not trying to rush you into a decision but the Developer Edition doesn't stay in stock for long. It is in stock right now but there is no guarantee how long they will stay in stock. Once out of stock it usually takes Samsung about a month before they have them back in stock. So, if you have to wait till your birthday that's understandable, but they may not be in stock when you decide "to pull the trigger".

It's the 5th character from the end in the firmware number. The previous firmware is N975U1UES2ASK2 and the new is N975U1UEU2BSLC. They are both 2 so you can flash back.

Yeah I had a feeling it was going to be lackluster and it was. Glad I can go back and I don't get why they have such a huge update for a few new system apps and colors. Good lock not working was a big one for me and changing the place of settings and stuff with no benefits that I noticed in the last day or so. Android pie is about as close to perfection as it gets! WIll probably try android 10 again once everything is working and bugs are worked out!
I will do the same as long as bootloader doesn't change. Love how my 10 plus performs as is. I only charge to 80% and usually get around 6hrs screen time. I know it's different for each person's usage. Only thing I would change about this device would be the damn camera. Any slight movement of subject and its blurry.
