Is this SMN910VZKE model of the Verizon note 4 a developer edition?
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app

Yes it is
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does that mean it has a unlocked bootloader? Or what does a developer edition have over a regular one? Is there any good custom roms out for the note 4?

No, not according to my Developer Edition. The model number for the Developer Edition Note 4 on Verizon is SM-N910VMKEVZW. The only difference between the retail version and the developer edition is the bootloader. The developer edition has an unlocked boot loader so it can be rooted and a custom recovery installed. The developer edition has all the same hardware and software as the retail...including all the bloatware.

can the retail one currently be rooted? Is the developers edition still being sold? Or how would I get a developers edition? How would I know if I have a developers edition or not?

The retail version cannot be rooted. You can buy a Developer edition directly from Samsung. Google Verizon Developer Edition Note 4. There's a couple ways, in recovery you can read the "unlocked" status. Developer Device is enscribed under the battery.

Not trying to rush you into a decision but the Developer Edition doesn't stay in stock for long. It is in stock right now but there is no guarantee how long they will stay in stock. Once out of stock it usually takes Samsung about a month before they have them back in stock. So, if you have to wait till your birthday that's understandable, but they may not be in stock when you decide "to pull the trigger".

they have 180 in stock still but they started like a week ago with 250 or so. so who knows how much longer it will last

I have a part time job & I get paid this Friday then on February 6th then again on the February 20th & on February 20th I will finally have enough money to get it. My birthday is February 21st. Do you think the developer edition will still be in stock by February 20th?

Is the note edge better than the note 4? & is there any note edge developers editions still in stock @ Samsung do you think? Or can I get the note edge developer edition in either a retail store or Verizon communications store? Do you think I can get a note 4 developers edition in a Verizon communications store?

Jump! Question

So with the 6 month wait almost over I have a question about this program.
I currently have the Note 2 and really want to try the Moto X Dev edition. Well, as we know it isn't available from T-mobile, so can I turn in my note 2 and just use the moto x or do I have to get a new phone for the Jump! program to work? Thanks!

they'll only take it as a trade it in if you are purchasing another phone through them. If you trade in your phone the remainder of what you owe is erased and In effect you would be starting over with a new EIP with the new device that you are purchasing from them

Anyone want to trade their Developer Edition Note4 for my Stock Verizon Note 4?

Anyone want to trade their Developer Edition Note 4 for my Stock Verizon Note 4? Just as I said I need a rooted phone it will be a good phone for someone who don't want a developer edition. Or if someone can root the phone I will be a tester! Thanks guys

Why in the world would anyone trade you a dev edition for the retail version? Who would trade down? That's nonsensical

Note 4 trade
Yeah, no offense taken. I too would like to trade, but I agree without any additional incentive, it is nonsensical.
How about my stock Note 4 plus $150.00 for a Note 4 DE?

The Note 4 DE sells for $699. The retail phone is $299 with contract.

I don't know about other people here but I'd rather not give up my rootable customizable Note 4 DE that I use with no contract for a locked down phone plus lose $250. I don't see it happening dude. Oh wait. I get it. You're just kidding right?

Even when they achieve root it will still be locked. Nobody will ever run a custom kernel on a retail Note 4.

Thank you for your reply. You are correct. I did not pencil that out for a rational cost justification.
Well, in that case, I suppose that I am stuck. I hope there bootloader unlock solution available before I complete my last payment for my Note 4 on the Verizon plan. If not, I will have to spring for a DE and pay the full price.
Along with that $150.00 I can throw in a couple of flip phones, a windows tablet and a rooted S5!!!
Keep an eye on this thread. Once in a while someone offers to sell one. That's how I got mine.

When we flashed the original stock LP update on the DE phones it broke the screen brightness adjustment. The kernel had to be replaced to fix it. Doing this gave the phone great battery life because there were tweaks that enhanced it.
Personally, I could never own a locked phone. The Verizon Note 2 originally was unlocked. Those of us who rooted them were able to keep them unlocked. The non rooted community eventually got an update that locked them. My Note 4 DE may be my last Verizon phone. They actually seem to be winning out against the development community.

Tab S 10.5 , Note Pro, Tab Pro are all Exynos too and they all got the update to Lollipop, some to 5.1.
In fact they run the exact same Exynos as us, so there's not much work to be done (in that regard) anyways...
So -yeah- nothing to do with it being Exynos... In fact I'd be much surprised if we were not to get Lolipop too. It's Samsung's pattern, their last update is greeeatly overdue but they eventually deliver. Of course we'll never get Marshmallow as it's over the 2 year window during which Samsung typically supports her products... and then they wonder why Apple is No1 in profits. Ipad 2, a 4.5 year old device and it is still getting updates (ios 4.2.1 to ios 9+ !!)
Yeah I know! It was a joke.

Oh sorry, didn't notice. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to conveyed through text...
Well, at least they kept their promise...
I agree though that 5.1.1 would have been nice at this point. Hell, my LG prepaid phone (which was also only $100) got its first Lollipop update BEFORE this $500 tablet.
Interested to see this update in action though, I hope it gets to the SM-P600 within the next week.
Haven't received it yet, but I think I am sticking with KitKat, with all the Bluetooth audio issues I have had with both my Note Pro and my Note 4, I like that my audio doesn't skip.

First thing right off the bat, comparing to the exynos on the Note pro 12.2, had some lag issues, Google play store issues, but could have been a bad download. As far as new features, very similar features to the Note Pro's 5.0.2. Only thing that is not there is the toolbox bar which can save up to 5 favorite apps. I will test the Bluetooth to see if it skips like the Note Pro and the Note 4.

Maybe you need to do a full wipe (factory reset) via recovery.. (to resolve lag and google play issues)
Can you tell me if has popup windows (like note 4 and note 12.2 5.02)?
Thanks.

Updated my P607T to 5.1.1 ODIN
I was running Besonderes 5.0.2 but decided to upgrade to the official version... and pleasantly surprised to find the ODIN version of 5.1.1 on sammobile for my T-Mobile P607T..
Did the update via ODIN but it did not do full wipe... The TouchWiz kept force closing, and I did a factory reset/wipe via recovery. Now it seems to be running fine so far.. It is too early to tell if battery life improved, etc..
Yep, it has pop-up window
