What do you think is best setup for best camera experience?
Kitkat (and which mods) or Lollipop (and which mods)?
Also, stock or custom rom?
Kitkat
Lollipop camer its make a photo more white, kitkat normal photo.
Lollipop + Mod
On lollipop there is a camera mod called CameraZadas which can set iso and shutter speed separately, which is excellent for extreme low light photo. I didnt see any kind of that feature on kitkat's mod

You can't really improve the camera performance by changing ROM - but you can find some camera modification ZIPs that changes the quality of the photos by reducing compression. Though, those ZIPs are flashable thru Clockworkmod Recovery.
Use search button and U will find them!
Personally I like the lgCamera app a lot. It's free and comes with a lot of options (compression, focus and much more)
also captures videos nicely with the option to fix the focus which I really miss in most other apps
i think Camere isn't depend on Rom. It depend on you Apps . You can choose LG camere ( search in 4rum). In my opinion i like Camera zoom FX with alots of awesome feature
Any stock based ICS Rom with 4.1 Cybershot Camera Mod by Rizal Lovins.

JB Roms don't even have stock JB Camera, they use the ICS Legacy one which is worse than Stock Sony's.
If you want to use your Camera a lot (like me for example) Stock-based roms are the way to go.
Hello,
Deep in my mind I still remember how my Xperia S was amazing with taking pictures on stock rom.
Than i got kk, and now 5.1 nAOSP from mickybart.
So i wonder is there any port of camera that brings back the vivid and sharp photos?
The nAOSP camera is "ok" but it lacks options, no hdr etc. and it have sooo much problems with focus.
So i thought that someone may know how to improve it.
I srearched over crossdevices xperia thread but not much I foung for android 5.0+ there ;/.
Any help ??
My Xperia is still in the drawer [emoji15] . Well I used Lenovo'S Super Camera (can't remember full name) but it is ported on XDA.

This port is for Android 4.x and above. I think I stopped using it due to the startup time [emoji20]
Try the Google Camera from the play store if you'd like the android stock look [emoji1]
For android 5.x I'd recommend the HTC port. I haven't tested it on the xps but works great on s5 and works on all Android 5 builds as it doesn't use the new camera2 api

I've extracted it from my device - install camera first and then if it fails then install service pack then camera then gallery. The files only work for ANDROID 5.
My personal experience is with the Lenovo Camera and it is far better than AOSP stock. I've never tried HTC on the XPS but it is hundred times better than the Stock Camera on my S5 due to the manual exposure settings and quick snaps. Some modes like panorama and bokeh don't work they require the HTC Camera chip (omnivision device)
Is there a way to have the stock camera on nAOSP ? It would be perfect !!!
For who changed to Lollipop
What were the changes in the Camera App?
Any improvement in low-light shoots?
I ask that, because the new Android 5.1 have new API camera2 that can improve our camera.
[ like "Fix colors in lowlight mode", and "sharpness and denoise settings for camera2 " both used for Snap Camera app]
its the same module as before....
Sent from my SM-N750 using Tapatalk
Its gotten worse
The camera IMHO now has become worse, that I found only while using the flash. Otherwise it appears the same.
I am using the stock camera app, and I haven't found any variation. The pictures are the same when compared to those taken with kitkat versions.
Maybe the custom camera apps could make a difference.
i got the bliss pop rom (based on cm 12.1) and nothing wrong with camera
Hi,
Is there any good CM/AOSP based roms that has a good camera quality like in MIUIv7/ColorOS based roms? There is huge difference on the quality in stock rom. I even used the ColorOSCamera Port but the quality is bad. Thanks.
HI,
Unfortunatly I have never encountered a better camera quality than on ColorOS, all pictures taken from CM based or AOSP based rom are blurry etc or low light even after using a CM HAL Mod or the ColorOS camera app.
I beleive that if you want to have such picture quality you'll need to stay on ColorOS or to try on Spectrum Project (that is still at its early stage)
Is it a case of driver support? If so, then no camera app would work well. I've wondered this and it is one reason I kept ColorOS.
Have you tried Camera FV-5
Hey guys.....
Just wanna ask is there any custom nougat rom for the m8 with support for duo camera and duo effects like ufocus ? Also how is the camera performance of the nougat roms in general ? And if they are near to stock camera ?
Really wanna root this Sprint m8 which i just converted to google play edition using RUU. But the only thing stopping me from getting a taste of nougat is that i would lose the duo camera functionality. Anyone ?
Also how is the battery life ? SOT in hrs ?
There is none.
Duo camera only works on stock sense.
On nougat roms camera is taking good pictures, but not as good as stock sense would.
Do manual controls work in the htc camera app on nougat roms ?
Kind of.
In manual mode you can adjust focus, EV and WB. Shutter speed and ISO are stuck on auto.
