You can't really improve the camera performance by changing ROM - but you can find some camera modification ZIPs that changes the quality of the photos by reducing compression. Though, those ZIPs are flashable thru Clockworkmod Recovery.
Use search button and U will find them!
Personally I like the lgCamera app a lot. It's free and comes with a lot of options (compression, focus and much more)
also captures videos nicely with the option to fix the focus which I really miss in most other apps
i think Camere isn't depend on Rom. It depend on you Apps . You can choose LG camere ( search in 4rum). In my opinion i like Camera zoom FX with alots of awesome feature
Any stock based ICS Rom with 4.1 Cybershot Camera Mod by Rizal Lovins.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918744
JB Roms don't even have stock JB Camera, they use the ICS Legacy one which is worse than Stock Sony's.
If you want to use your Camera a lot (like me for example) Stock-based roms are the way to go.

Is someone tried i think the best camera apps like camera zoom and camera 360 ultimate making better photos than stock it seems to me
Hi everyone,
I am considering 'upgrading' my HOV to CM10.1 or AOKP, but I am wondering if the new mods really effect the quality of the onboard camera? I know that the One series all has the HTC imagesense processor, and I was wondering if the newer kernels affected the quality of the camera at all? I enjoy the quality of the camera on stock greatly, so I was wondering if there was a big difference or if anyone did any comparisons?
Thanks!
ps - sorry if this has been asked before, I've searched and come up with nothing...
Stock camera is the best. It's the only reason why some people revert back to stock after trying out JB
stock camera > cm9 > cm10 > cm10.1 even tho cm10.1 camera doesn't work yet... lmao

I didn't quite get it.
I am wondering, does JB roms use HTC's ImageSense? If not, does those Sense based ROMs use ImageSense, as they use the stock camera, right?

The non-Sense based ROM's don't use the ImageSense chip ( or use it in the same way as stock ). I've Tried SupremU and mySenseV both seem to use the stock camera app and abilities. The CM10/etc use the cyanogen(?) camera, it cannot do the burst or capture during video, I had very little luck getting it going smoothly in CM10, video modes autofocus is wonky too
I did some searching to see if the Stock camera app could somehow be brought into CM10, but from what I could find it appears that the answer it no.. my guess is it's a kernel module needed + a bunch of Sense bits and pieces.
to me the quality seems about the same, but I have noticed that non-stock cameras on our HOV are slower at actually taking the picture, but that could be the settings? idk but I like stock camera, but not enough to switch back to sense... mostly because it makes me use a pin or passcode or pattern to unlock because of the wifi type at my school... it gets annoying

So, when i use this ROM?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974415
I have ImageSense in use, as it has the stock camera app, right? (which is the best for me) I really like ImageSense, autofocus in video is great with it and pictures too.

Yup that you do It's the one I've been running this week and it appears to be going quite smoothly.
Heeerrow,
First of all, the interface of the "default" JB camera on JB roms, is ugly, plus, it lacks of a looot of options.
So, let's make it clear, anyone knows any working camera mod to at least change the interface or something? thankyou.
Theres no camera mod for jb atm, but you can allways use 3rd party aps

Hopefully Rizal Lovins can do some of his magic in the future and port his Cyber-Shot Mod in CM10 Roms, it's the only thing I am missing from Stock Roms.
If you don't like the UI of JB Camera app you can indeed try other camera applications, there are many in Google Play.
A few of the best:
- Camera ZOOM FX https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom
- Vignette https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.neilandtheresa.NewVignette
- ProCapture https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neaststudios.procapture
- Camera FV-5 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro

Best camera is on ICS with Cybershot mod in themes and apps
GB roms also have a very very good camera and also the stock ICS camera is nice

every ics rom/kernel has a very good camera .. you can make it better by flashing cybershot mod or it could be included in the rom
If you want camera features quality better than you better stay on ICS
Has anyone here used Zoom FX as a replacement for the awesome stock Sense camera? I really want to install PAC-Man Rom because of all the cool features but I LOVE the stock HTC camera app. I take a lot of pictures and one of the features I love about the stock camera is that you can extract still images from video. Plus it seems like the stock app would be best able to take advantage of the One's ultrapixel camera. I'm really torn between staying stock and keeping the camera and installing a custom rom and having the advantages that come with that.

I have this app. It is feature rich. I don't know if you can extract a still with it, I looked within the app and googled it, can't find anything.

I've been using CameraZoomFX since day 1 and it's a perfect fit for the One's camera. I set volume up as the shutter, made sure it's taking pictures as Wide 4.1MP (native), and use Stable Shot. Sometimes the "auto" white-balance isn't the best, but that (and tons of other options) are easily adjustable
Ok... Thanks guys! I think I'm going to go for it and install PAC & buy ZoomFX. I guess I can always restore to my current configuration if I hate it and waste $3 at the very worst.
