Like the title says, after I updated to MM, the music on my SD card doesn't show up in Google Play Music, I know my SD card is OK as it shows up in the default LG music player. I don't want to use the LG music player as it doesn't work with Last.fm scrobbling.
Searching has turned up nothing either!

Hello,
I tried to play a song in the music tab, by clicking library and the song, after I did that my device just got stuck I needed to take the battery out to restore it.
Now every time I go to the music tab my device freezes
what should I do?
Sincerely
Simtrax

i would cut down on how many songs u have the more u have the longer it takes for the system to pick up. hints the freezing. thats what i did then i hated only having a few songs so i went and just took the music tab off and i leave windows media player running in the back ground works great screw that tab!
If you have your music library stored on your SD card, you may have either a faulty track (or several), and/or the SD card itself is to blame.
Sometimes using a repair program to scan and fix the SD card (lots of free ones out there) can make a difference, but sometimes you just need to re-format the SD card. Remember too that not all SD cards are created equally. A slower SD card can hang up with constant access, such as streaming music or video.
But if you have your music installed on the phone's internal memory -- I dunno...

Hi.
My Desire is now a couple of weeks old, and so far I'm loving it. But I've bumped into a weird and really annoying problem. Occasionally it stops play any kind of music (ringtones, mp3s, etc). Videos stop working too. Unmounting/Remounting and/or powering off/on the phone SOMETIMES works, but not always, and before long, it returns to the state where no music can be played. It worked perfectly the first week or so, but then this happened.
I use a 8Gb Transcend MicroSD card in it. But it can't really be the card (at least 100%.) As it is ONLY the music (and video files), mp3 still show up on the player, all tags and album art show up properly. Camera works. and so does downloading and using different files (PDFs, roms for emulators etc.) everything else works, but when it's time to output something that makes a sound, it doesn't work. Not with built-in music player, not with 3rd party apps or widgets. (tried several Video Player, Ringdroid and MixZing come to mind).
Strangely, "Musical Lite" plays the piano sounds ok, but I'm assuming it has it's own playback engine/decoder.
I'm assuming anything that uses the internal APIs for sound does not work.
I can connect the phone to a computer, mount the SD card and play the videos/music just fine (and access all other card content).
I have an EU version of Desire:
Model A8181
firmware 2.1-update1
Kernel 2.6.29-97da29ed
Build 1.15.405.4 CL155070 release-keys
I'd appreciate any pointers or suggestions of what to try/test/tell.
EDIT: Just to clarify. It's only music. Sound effects (from keys for example) work all the time, calls work as supposed. It's only music (incl. ringtone) that doesn't work at all.
Anyone? I've tried removing and re-inserting the sd card, but it doesn't help. Also as built-in ringtones do not work either, it is probably not the card at fault.
have you checked the ringer volume and the media volume in settings. otherwise get it replaced or repaired under warranty
Every separate volume is set to full. I forgot to say that everytime I try to access a music file (player, ringdroid. But not in settings when selecting ringtone, or when the phone should actually ring) I get an error "unable to play this type of music file". Videos don't give that error, they just don't work. No errors.
Hi all,
Just got a new Samsung TV (UA46ES7100), which is one of their smart TVs and supports AllShare. That allows me to stream videos, photos, music, etc from my Note 2 to the TV pretty easily, except for 1 small issue.
The only music it will stream is the music listed in the samsung Music Player app on the phone, which only looks at a single Music folder on the internal storage. No music I put on my microSD appears in the Music Player app, and therefore does not appear in AllShare. I've always used PowerAmp as my music playing app which lets you assign folders to scan so I've never noticed this, but I can't find any options in the samsung Music Player or AllShare that will let me change the music folder it looks at.
Anyone know how to get Music Player to look at the external MicroSD for music instead of its folder on the internal one?
I am having this very same issue.... Except I use spotify and it us really pissing me of that even know my phone is paired with my TV via Bluetooth... It does not recognize spotify
Real big bummer
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app

Hi,
my Media Player App starts with the first track of my music every time I restart the device. I am playing music off the SD card. I guess it is because the SD Card is not ready when the Music Player App starts? Because when I switch between Radio App and Media Player App the Media Player continues with the right track.
Is there a fix for this? Maybe use a different media player?
Thanks in advance!
Mybe u should try other app or USB
Thanks, I figuered it out quite easy. Switched the sd card with the music tracks to the SD-Slot labeled "Nav" now the problem is gone. Maybe that SD Slot is initialized first...
