Hi all,
Just got a new Samsung TV (UA46ES7100), which is one of their smart TVs and supports AllShare. That allows me to stream videos, photos, music, etc from my Note 2 to the TV pretty easily, except for 1 small issue.
The only music it will stream is the music listed in the samsung Music Player app on the phone, which only looks at a single Music folder on the internal storage. No music I put on my microSD appears in the Music Player app, and therefore does not appear in AllShare. I've always used PowerAmp as my music playing app which lets you assign folders to scan so I've never noticed this, but I can't find any options in the samsung Music Player or AllShare that will let me change the music folder it looks at.
Anyone know how to get Music Player to look at the external MicroSD for music instead of its folder on the internal one?
I am having this very same issue.... Except I use spotify and it us really pissing me of that even know my phone is paired with my TV via Bluetooth... It does not recognize spotify
Real big bummer

I have been having an issue with my phone and my music. All my music is organized by Genre, Artist, Album. After I sync my music with my phone, the Samsung media scanner starts up and scans my 2 SD cards. I then go and start the stock music player and all of the genres of my music have been changed. I have triple verified that the genres are correct using MP3Tag, Windows Media Player, and Winamp. I have even mounted the SD card to the computer and verified that the genres are correct. It seems that the Samsung Media Scanner is changing the genres. I have tried multiple music apps and none of them except for poweramp recognize the genres of my songs correctly. Poweramp has its own built in media scanner, that is the program itself scans the SD cards and builds its own library. I am not too fond of poweramp and would prefer to use the stock music player. The funny thing is when I stick my SD card into an EVO all of the music genres show up correctly in the stock EVO music player. So the issue must be with Samsung's media scanner reading the songs ID3 tags. Does anyone else have the same issue, and is there a way to fix it? Also, how does everyone sync their playlists on their phones? I currently use windows media player to sync my music. I also tried syncing my music with winamp but that did not work either, even with the winamp app on the phone. I am currently using PhantomHackers Blazer rom, and I had the same issues with the stock rom.
My head is spinning after reading this, can you please re-state your question a bit clearer not sure i or anyone understands whats wrong.

Changed it up a bit, I hope that is clearer. No wonder I was not getting any responses.

I have also noticed and been very annoyed by this. I usually end up using the Google Play Music when I want to listen to my music by genres.... I would love to know if there is a fix for this.
Hi all.
I'm trying out Tasker, and my question is this:
I'm trying to get a profile that starts actually playing music (does not open the app, but plays the music), but when I try to use Music Control or Music Play it plays music from the "Play Music" player of Google, and not the "Music" app of HTC.
Anybody knows how I can play music straight from the "Music" app?
Thanks!
In app management, go to play music and select clear defaults.
Next time you play a music file it will ask which player to use.

Tried it, did not solve my problem. my problem is that is detects it as default music player, not default music player to play selected files. I need somehow to change the default action of the media controls of the phone.
I'm using poweramp as my main music player but I'm having problems because when I install a game the music player adds the sound files to the song list. Is there a way to avoid this problem?
It's really annoying to be listening to some tunes an a car sound suddenly appears

I think poweramp can sort music by folder to avoid your problem
Go into the settings, and manually select the folders you want it to scan for music. By default, it scans the entire /sdcard hierarchy (as you noticed).
How does music playback work on the Smartwatch 3? What software does it use to play back music, and does it support FLAC files? Also, how many hours of playback can you get?

It's very convenient to use Play Music on the SW3 when paired with your smartphone. Walkman works well (with my Xperia Z3) although I can't begin to play music from it (as yet I know how to) with Walkman because it thinks I'm trying to access music from the watch itself, which is unfortunately not the case, Play Music has the option to "Play from phone" or ("Play from Watch" -> which would require headphones paired to the watch itself.) As for Flac files, I have no idea, but my phone recognizes and plays Flac, and Walkman can change the song from the watch.
Thanks for the info. I've been thinking about getting one so I can forego my smartphone while jogging or cycling. I guess the lack of FLAC isn't a deal breaker, particularly when you consider the watch only has around 4GB of storage.
it does play flac files, even hi-res ones
Hi All,
I have a media folder on my sd card that has a couple ringtones and a few notification sounds and the Asus music player is listing them as music to play. My Galaxy S4 did not, it ignored them. I placed a .nomedia file in the directory but now android ignores that directory and it's sub-directories completely.
Has anyone else run into this?
I actually use a different music player that let me select the music folder.
Now does it happen to you that when you are playing music and you turn the screen on or off there is a little skip of sound?
It has happened to me in the stock music player, poweramp and Pandora.
