I've been doing some poking around with Win10M on my 830 and want to enable VoLTE so that I can place VoLTE calls on T-Mobile.
I have an RM985 device, so I get access to T-mobile LTE, but don't have all AWS bands so in LTE only areas (Becoming more common) I cannot place calls.
I found Microsoft's documentation for VoLTE & IMS settings, but cannot figure out where in the registry these are. Can someone help me figure out where to write to so that I can toggle my VoLTE settings?

and https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/mt138319(v=vs.85).aspx
Anyone have any information?

Thanks for that! Looks like changing that toggle (and the one on my specific IMSI) didn't bring the toggle up in win10m. I'll keep digging though. I know the phone is VoLTE capable since the AT&T one is, but it seems I'm missing something important.
Edit:
Did some more digging, found every registry key that I need to throw in, and threw them into both the default location and the one specific to my IMS.
Turns out you need it at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cellular\MVSettings\IMSISpecific\Default\CellUX\Critical instead.
Unfortunately, adding these keys, plus adding a key at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cellular\MVSettings\IMSISpecific\Default\VoLTE for the two keys required hasn't made the toggle show up. I'm still digging and assume there's some other set of keys that I'm missing at this point.
I remember seeing the toggle after modifying the registry key a few months back, although it made no change for actual state of Calls on VoLTE.
Might have changed in recent builds, I could not make it show up now either.

Has anyone figured out if the 830 & other phones have the dialer options to bring up the band selection and other features like we can do on the 640 and 1520?

I don't know but try adding ##3282# to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Phone\Settings\PartnerImmediateDialStrings using CustomPFD Registry Editor; reboot and dial ##3282# ?
Does anyone knows if there is a registry key to enable call recording on all lumia phones? For now it is only possible to record call on new Lumias.

You need to know probably these keys from an x50 user
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Phone\Settin\PreferredRecordingApplication
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Phone\Setting\RecordingFeatureDisabled
Also, there is high chance that it will require more keys other than this to enable recording.
provisioning files for VoLTE for T-Mobile
Hey everyone, these are the files that are processed for provisioning the L640 (T-Mobile) to set up the phone for VoLTE. I've been looking for a way to either deploy the files, most of the core files that is needed for VoLTE is processed through the provxml which via MCSF. Attempting to hard code the MCSF to its location in the registry from the source keys fails to create the necessary folder to continue(this is with the interop unlocked L950DS). Maybe someone else on xda can help out.

Hi,
Did you managed to find any way to enable VoLTE ?
I am using Lumia 950 DS, My carrier supports VoLTE feature but in my phone there is no option to enable VoLTE. I can just use internet but no voice call.
I tried to change registry keys as well but no luck.
Please help me if anybody here managed to enable this feature.

these reg edit there from long time,it can't enable field test, even if you deploy field test appx ,and open with gadget app , it limited to locking 2g/3g/4g same setting in sim settings appears in field-test app.better solution would be trying Fw that had field test on ROM.
it will look like RM-XXXX VAR NAM ( or ) RM-XXXX VAR APAC VN CV lumiafirmware.com,
locked bands in field-test will be in same state even after reboot.

hi.. can you help me to edit the regitry fro Enabling VoLTE on Lumia 950.???
it also seems like their is a modemconfig .nvi files that has to be loaded to the phone for the modem to configure correctly. Activating certain registry key wont actually enable some of the feature due to the modem config files. I am still looking for the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL windows ffu or cab list to help with enabling VoLTE or to dive deeper. I posted on the windowscentral forums, reddit, and here on xda but no one is able or I assume willing to offer up the ffu for cablist for the phone. The reasoning behind wanting the ffu or cablist for the Alcatel phone is because it is the only "official" tmobile phone that came with windows 10 mobile on it, which as we all know, the registry configurations has changed a little in windows 10 mobile from that of windows phone 8.1.

You are wrong. I've enabled recording for voice calls and it saves it to my Phone in C:\Data\Users\Public\Recorded Calls under the name of the person you recorded.

So i've enabled Engineering Mode on my phone. I can understand a couple of the items that it shows, but does someone have a page/manual that defines what each one is?
I actually know a little about cell phone networks, so a description of each field would be a great start .
Thanks,

It seems that I don't have this registry key in my QTEK9000 so i cannot help you. Sorry.
the key is only for HTC Wizard (and maybe Charmer)
Is there anything like this for the Universal?
I'm all for seeing things that other people don't usually see =)
This is one of my biggest disappointments on the 6700's and win mobile devices in general WinMobile5 in particular.
In northern Illinois even if you are calling within your area code, you need to dial the area code.
Being as I dial most of my clients only once from my cell, I don't want them all to be added to my contacts. And since I am calling while driving a truck and looking at a piece of paper dialing on the screen. I WANT TO HAVE A PREPEND OPTION for my area code (unless I specificly dial a different one).
Most $39 phones have this option, and most palm phones have this option.
It can't be that hard to program it (can it?).
After doing much searching, and not getting much closer, it seems (per MS website http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/pocketpc/useyourphone.mspx#settings ) there may be a phone setting that is not enabled that would enable "dialing rules".
These would be in the same area of settings as network time synch, and voicemail notification, etc..
Does anyone know of any registry edits to show *all* phone settings?
There are a few listed around here and on other forums (mostly the same 'hacks' posted over again all over the place).
I have tried all I've found, and while they have enabled what they say, this isn't included (so far).
What I'm looking for is specificly "dialing rules".
Yes, I know they are listed in network settings, but these do not affect voice dialing.
Anyone have any ideas...
Anyone else wish this worked...
Can anybody help me out here?
hacks, freeware, commercial, black magic rituals, anything???
(I have searched and searched and searched...)
My appologies in advance if it is not, but is this in the right forum??
I really thought I would find some enlightenment here.

I was going though WM5's menu on HTC TytN and saw the Fixed Dialing under the Start>Settings>Personal>Phone>More
Fixed Dialing is the last option under the More Tab if this is what your are looking for.

I thought about using this feature, but I could not find how to change its options (such as "number patterns"). Do anyone know how to use it ?
Not sure if this is the one:
Start > Setting > Connections > Connections > Advanced > "Dialing Rules"
Let me know if this work for you.
I believe the O2 dial wizard has this (sort of) functionality. You could use the Calling Card function to, instead of storing calling card prefixes, store the area code for the areas that you are in. Then, when you've entered the number for the person you want to call, you press the button with the Magic Wand and Handset in the Phone program, and it prefixes your number with the prefix previously defined.
You might also consider looking at the MyPrefixDial program (freeware - see http://www.freewareppc.com/communication/myprefixdial.shtml), although I think this only works with predefined contacts....

While it looks like it could be the right place - No this is for network connections (i.e. internet, or VPN) only not for voice dialing options.
Thanks for trying though.

Any clues out there?
Do any win mobile phones that you know of offer dialing rules??
well over 1000 views and no one has any solutions, or even hints at something that may help?
Wow, I thought with all the developing going on here this should be stupid simple, guess not.
Maybe, it's not that important to everyone because they don't have to dial local area codes.
You all will have to eventually you know, it may be months, or years, but eventually everyone will have to.
Ah well, thanks for looking anyway.

I posted about this briefly in Sham's 2.00 thread about how I am getting a roaming icon when I use either of these roms. Is this 'normal' behavior? I have been using vp3g's build for sometime now, but was eager to try a Sham's lite rom and was quite pleased with how peppy it was. And yes, I did try both Schap and Sham's connection wizards and that didn't seem to resolve the issues.
I tried searching on the topic, but all I got were hacks to hide the icon and not anything on what causes it, or long term impacts of "roaming."
I worry that something is wrong when I see a roaming icon when I am in my network and don't seem to automagically switch to 3G when I initiated a call in an EDGE section. Additionally, I'll never know when I am actually roaming.
Any feedback, suggestions, etc... would be greatly appreciated for a n00b such as myself. For now I have gone back to vp3g's rom, but would love to use something newer.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue. The initial connectivity setup was done here in DC, but when I went to the west coast it said I was roaming when I clearly wasn't. I tried running the connectivity setup again, but that didn't fix anything.

This just perminately removes it...right? He still wants it to work if he's really roaming.
This has been a known mysterious bug to do with how the os, sim card, & network carrier interact. Most fixes have been by changing roms. Here's the original thread info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=295871

You are right, this perminatley removes it as I found out when I went to Canada. I had to rely on the provider name (AT&T vs Rogers) to know if I was roaming or not.
At least It removes the annoying triangle
Hmm... interesting... by what you are saying here, vp3G's has the hack built in? Interesting... in that case, maybe I'll give Sham or Schap's a try again. I'll just have to be dilligent about making sure I am not roaming.
Thanks
-DR
my question is that if im roaming am i going to be to be charged if it still says at&t
If I am understanding this correctly... so long as you see your "home network" as the one you are connected to, you should be fine.
I did have another concern: if the roaming icon is disabled, my data will not know any better and auto download. True, yes?
-DR
I got the roaming icon when I switched my radio ROM to 1.47.30 from 1.51.. Also my battery wears out quite fast. Does the phone search for "own" network when it's on roaming state (this might explain the battery issue)?

You say that it opens your registry without option to import, then you may not have a registry editor installed... If you do, you may see a menu softkey at the bottom right, from there you can click menu and then import your file...
Have a look around, there are several registry editors available... I don't have a link at hand at the moment, but if you use the Forum Search link in my signature, you should get good results... Search for "registry editor"...
Hope this helps...
EDIT: did it myself and this is the top hit... http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml
EDIT2: just in case, copy file to device and then just tap it and it will install itself...
i had the same problem in the beggining when i unloced my 8525 to use on T-mobile network. initially i had no problems, then when i flashed few roms the triangle showed up, i thought it was a rom issue but all other roms even the oem's were doing the same thing. i was googling arround and found someone had changed their sim card and it helped, so i went to t-mobile got my 4 year old sim card replaced and BAM! like a charm triangle is gone on the spot!
chance em!
I have had the Roaming Icon show with some of the ROM's. Right now I have VP3G's 3.62 ROM and no roaming ICON.

Install RegistryEditor v 1.2.0.0 from TouchExperience website and follow first post.(I'm using HD7 sorry)Hope it works for you.
Hey man, *PLEASE* don't post the same question in many different threads. You've been here long enough to know better than that...
As for the answer, well, you run a registry editor app, you navigate to HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings (watch for forum-added spaces in the string; the only space should be between "Internet" and "Settings"), tap on the named registry values, and set them...
If the ROM you are using is configured to automaticlaly revert them to some other value, for whatever reason, you need to modify or replace the ROM. There are only a few registry values I've found that have checks like that, though.
For the curious, the default values on my stock HD7 are 6 for both items.
thanks worked
EDIT: dont work.. still shows a "H" in my screen!
and yes I did a reboot but it dont work..
That... I can't help you with. I see no particular reason to believe that the registry values in question actually control which cellular technology is used by the phone. In fact, that seems a bit unlikely. I've been wrong about unlikely registry values before though...
In any case, I'm pretty sure it is possible (maybe using Field Test?) to lock out certain wireless technologies, but I haven't done any research on it. The only way I know is the basic option under Settings -> Cellular, and that disables all 3.xG tech.
u need the custom rom intrinsic, other roms may not work
i have been using this tweak for many hours now. my phone does not go to H signal during web surfing.even after soft reset, reboot. So it is working on mine
before this, phone will go to H signal meaning its using HSPA when doing things like surfing, email sync ect.. and will only stay on 3G during rest

i see something called registrypersist in the intrinsic rom. maybe thats why it works
hmm i got a trophy with a full unlock.
but btw, ill leave it on 32 and 16 to see if my 3g iddle mode stays at 3G instead of H
i am not sure why or how this works
but my theory is this , imagine
3G - uses xxx power at a certain speed
hspa - uses higher xxx power for faster speed
u have 6 pipes , u need to pull 20 stuff into these pipes, 6 at a time to destination (phone)
in order to do all of it in a given time, u need to pull the 20 stuff at a higher speed (hspa) which uses more power but faster to get to the destination ( phone). the phone recognises this and automatically goes into HSPA mode ( high power but faster operation)
so to solve the problem u open another 14 more pipes, that is ( 6+14-20 pipes) but get the 20 stuff with the power requirement of 3G all at the same time but at the same speed, u get all the 20 stuff at the given xx time by opening up more pipes parallel to the original 6 u already have
this is why maybe the phone stays on 3G because it has more pipes
So if anything, it changes the amount of power used by HSPA, not the actual technology used.
From my understanding, those registry values are similar to the ones within Windows which control max connections to servers.. By changing it to a lower value you're in reality only limiting your speed.
And am I the only person who thinks Magpir posts nothing but garbage?

it should automatically default to 3G when idle even without the tweak
what this tweak does is limit it to 3G under all circumstances.

From my understanding, those registry values are similar to the ones within Windows which control max connections to servers.. By changing it to a lower value you're in reality only limiting your speed.
And am I the only person who thinks Magpir posts nothing but garbage?

amount of power means lower power = battery life savings.
By such a small margin. Think what you will.

I just could not resist....
Hi
I am trying to enable VoLTE and WiFi calling on my Nexus 5x. My carrier supports these features, and as far as I know, Nexus 5x is capable of supporting them as well. My phone is rooted, and runs Pixel 2 ROM which I found on xda (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/development/rom-pixelmod-lg-nexus-5x-t3486862). I have Magisk flashed and I just enabled the "VoEnabler" module so that I get the necessary toggles in Settings. They appear, but unfortunately, they do not work. When I check IMS registration in ##4636## (##INFO##) it still says "Not registered". I have learnt that I need to enable a certain "profile" for the Qualcomm radio chip as well, so I downloaded QPST_2.7.460 and managed to see the phone in PDC.exe after installing the correct Qualcomm drivers on my PC, and setting the DIAG PORT to on for the phone by issuing the command 'su; setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb' in a Terminal emulator on the phone. Where I am stuck now, is in PDC, because it only shows me 3 profiles: HW_DEFAULT, SW_DEFAULT and ROW_Generic_3GPP. I read that Vodafone_India, or Telefonica UK, or Telia Finland would be profiles that may work with my carrier and allow my phone to register with IMS, but unfortunately I do not have those in the list. So, my question is, does someone have more experience with this, can I load MBN files for this profiles using the "Load" button in PDC? If so, do files coming from other Nexus 5x, or even other phones work? If anyone has any experience with this, any help would be grately appreciated.
A little update: I tried with some of the mcfg_sw.bin files from the stock ROM, unfortunately, it just cannot activate for Sub0 and switches back to ROW_Generic_3GPP. Furthermore, I downloaded an LG G4 firmware, as that phone uses the same chipset, and tried to see the files extracted from the KDZ file usig 7zip, yet none of the "mcfg_sw.bin" files actually appear in PDC so I cannot "activate" it on the phone. Would really appreciate someone with a bit of experience to guide me on this one.
Thank you very much.
PS. Sorry if this is the wrong section, feel free to move it wherever it belongs to.
Your carrier needs to have enabled these features in their network for your phone model, too.
I've found that support for VoLTE is very spotty among custom ROMs. Some don't seem to pay any attention to it, some say they "support" it but it doesn't seem to work. That may be a per-carrier issue. FWIW I'm on Verizon in the USA and CandyROM is one of the few I've found that "supports" VoLTE, *and* it actually works for me, *and* the ROM is actively maintained. So maybe try that one if you're not too attached to PixelROM. I wish this feature was paid more attention by developers, it really makes a big difference in call quality.
The carrier supports it, of course. Do you have the same phone (5x) and run CandyROM on it? Have you got a link for it? I don't see how ROMs really have to do anything special, since they do not touch the radio partition, which is still the one from stock. You just have to add the toggles to the Settings app by editing build.prop, I guess. But I will take a look anyway, maybe it actually works, although my carrier does not support this actual model, I was hoping I couod change the modem config on it and force it to work with WiFi calling and VoLTE.

Yes, I have a 5X, run this ROM, and VoLTE works.

Maybe I'll try it, although I am pretty sure it won't work by default on my carrier, since it has the same default radio which lacks the proper config for my network. That's what I am trying to get, a proper config that will work with my phone, by switching it with Qualcomm PDC.
For Verizon, the necessary config is already in the radio image, of course, and probably gets picked up automatically when the device signs into the network. For Europe, all I see is EE UK...
In the UK the operator EE does support VoLTE for many phones but not for the N5X, even if you've "provisioned" it in your ROM.
