Hi guys. One of my friend has this phone. Yesterday night he did these steps:
1. unlocked bootloader (booting properly)
2. flashed twrp recovery
3. flashed su for rooting but didnt know how to update su binaries (booting properly)
4. went to twrp and partitioned external sd card (fat32+ext3+swap)
5. fixed permission
after restarting it got stuck at htc boot logo
so he gave me phone for repairing xD
here's status.
i removed sdcard.. put it in card reader.. n merged all partitions into single one just like it was before partitioning
now, i am able to see that white screen called "software status" (don't what does it called) through which i can have access to:
recovery
factory reset
simlock
check smartsd
image crc
show barcode
so basically, i need to get the installed stock htc firmware working again.
i searched forums and found European stock 5.0.2 fw. so should i flash that zip from twrp on this Indian origin phone??
or should i try factory resetting from that white screen??
basically i want to undo partitioning modifications from os and get the phone working on stock fw just like before. thanks
The "software status" white screen is fastboot. After reading your post, I think that the problem is that the device is rom-less, and I assume it happened when your friend repartitioned SD card.
Since the device is unlocked and you have a custom recovery installed, I'd go and try to install any of the custom roms posted here in the forums.
Check what version of twrp you have because there are some roms that don't run with older versions.
Thanks for replying. I'll try any custom based rom. The recovery is 2.8.1.0 (AZ development flash screen appears before twrp home screen). However, I want to know, if the European stock fm will work on this Indian variant device? Coz I tried to search for Indian / Asian fm files but no luck. How do I get exact fm matching with this one?
By fm you mean radio?
Anyway don't worry about that, because I live in Argentina and haven't had any problems with any rom I flashed.
If I were you, I'd flash this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3249856 because it's pretty much bugless and doesn't have any mods pre-installed.
Just out of curiosity, could you go to fastboot and post the software version number? That'd be useful in case we can find a stock backup for your variant.

Hi,
My first phone was rooted and I rooted my second too so I am confident rooting them however my second phone which had been rooted for a while had a space issue on SD card so I cleared out a few things which unfourtunatley included all the backup files ....
It worked fine afterwards but didnt let me change rom (using rom manager) so I just left it in working order for a few months until I wanted to reflash a new rom (as I am sure most people do every few months)
When it didnt let me, I tried to unroot and root options using superoneclick and unrevoked3 however, unrevoked 3 just stayed on "running root" and superoneclick got so far and crashed. When I go into the bootloader, it says something about some filed missing (think might be some nbh files).
At the moment, when normally turning the phone on, it stays on the screen with the pink circle, the first boot screen.
I have tried updating it using the RUU but it takes a long time and then says "use the correct rom for your device" which I am, this method just boots my phone and goes to a htc logo.
I can also get into the bootloader but when I apply update.zip, it says it has failed and something about files not existing/step 7 failure.
The thing is, I can get to fast boot and I am sure there is a way via ADB to force a new image (such as a cyanogen recovery image) on to the device.
Can anyone tell me how to push an image to the phone without using the RUU (as this didnt work for me)??
Maybe my phone is just bricked
Thank you very much!!
It. Is. Not. Bricked.
You can only push files onto the phone through fastboot if you are S-OFF (are you?)
Have you tried to enter recovery? boot into Bootloader (vol down + power) and then select recovery. Does it work?
no?
Then you need a goldcard. Make one with your working Desire, stick it in your misbehaving one, and then run the latest WWE RUU (link on my guide, check #resources)
Thanks but I do not have another Desire...
Any card reader
yeah, I got a card reader laying around somewhere, if not ill go get one in Tesco, what where you thinking?

Hi Bortak, I am having similair problems with my phone sticking on the pink circle screen. I cant seem to load a recovery file from Bootloader. Will I need to make a Gold Card, my phone is s-off.
thanks mate
if phone is S-OFF go to my guide, look at advanced boot problems S-OFF.
SOLVED WOOHOO!
Thank you to all who helped but I managed to fix it my own way.
For anyone still having trouble...
I still had the cyanogen mod bootloader soo all I did was download the latest cyanogen mod rom and apply it (you can mount sd card from cm bootloader) and after a hairy minute, it finally booted up!

Translation: I flashed another ROM because my other one didn't boot.
Hi all
I own this magical and wonderful device, Italian version *lol*
after a wipe mistake I am found at this situation:
1. Device can't boot normally. TWRP says "No OS Installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?"
2. TWRP works properly. I have flashed the recovery as suggested in this thread but I would need a factory stock image.
3. Odin don't see my device for some reason so I can't use it
My idea is that somehow I managed to wipe the OS and now I am faced with three mithycal questions questions:
1. How to solve this issue? I searched the forum for my model stock factory image but no luck.
2. Can I install a random ROM from inside TWRP somehow via the install menu? I did that with the recovery image but it still says there is no OS
3. Last but not least: will I be able unroot it and then with the Triangle system get it back to shape and send it to samsung? I had a little bit of a problem - that is the reason i tried the wipe in the frist place - with the 3g connection not working anymore.
Thank you in advance for your help
:3
So the old ROM I was on (a super outdated Android Revolution) needed to be updated because my battery was draining a lot and I figured I would update everything. Apparently I flashed a bad or wrong version of TWRP, so I can't get into recovery. It just sits there trying to get into recovery but it keeps failing. Then I tried using MultiRom recovery and installing that through the app in the play store. Now my phone won't go into recovery and just boot loops. I can get into the HBOOT menu but I can't get into recovery or boot the device at all. Does anyone have any ideas to get a working recovery or working ROM? I already backed up my pictures and videos and stuff, but I forgot to transfer my titaniumbackup files I've been trying to look around and see how to fix it but I don't want to do something that will cause more damage than I've already done. I did all this to update my firmware so that I can use the newer ROMs. Anyway if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance.
You didn't mention whether or not you are S-off and/or bootloader unlocked.
Since you already have a custom ROM, you must have unlocked your bootloader at some point, so if it is STILL unlocked, just reflash the correct recovery from fastboot. If it is not, unlock it with HTCdev first, then reflash the correct recovery.
Alternately, if you just want the phone fixed, you can always re-run the AT&T RUU - though that will trash any files you have on the phone.
Yeah that's what I did yesterday thanks for the response!
...I think
I would gladly give a better Topic Title but i can't. Maybe you guys can give further troubleshooting assistance.
Actual State:
Can boot to bootloader and Fastboot. Bootloader unlocked and TWRP Recovery installed. There _should_ be a Revolution HD on the device. When device powers up it goes smoothly to the White HTC quietly brilliiance screen (screen brightness begins to flicker) and goes off after (really off, not hanging, plain off). After i cleared boot cache via adb i'm able too see a split second of the htc bootlogo and then goes off right after.
State of device when i began to "fix" it:
BL Locked, No Custom Recovery, Stock recovery dead (Just red triangle), rom maybe was dead too but i don't know.
Last attempts i did were:
1. Flash boot.img through fastboot (Fastboot flash boot boot.img)
2. Flashed the Superwipe script (was desperate)
3. Flash Android Revolution through TWRP-Recovery
First:
I Don't know wich carrier. Boy that bugs me a lot. I'Ve tried Generic, Vodaphone and T-Mobile (since i'm in germany) but no Luck. Is there a possibility to check what RUU i need without a Running ROM? I haven't bought the device i got it from a friend of mine and it went straight to my wife. I've asked, he doesn't know. I'm not so into HTC, so i'm not quite firm concerning Stock restore.
Next:
I think i tried everything except for restoring stock (because.... meh....): I've unlocked the phone. I've flashed CWM aswell as TWRP. I've flashed different boot.img from different roms i've flashed.
I'Ve litteraly did EVERYTHING what seemed like a good idea to me. But now i'm at the end of my knowledge.
My last piece of Information:
After 2 1/2 hours i had a Custom Recovery Running (did the trial and error RUU Method before). I've mounted the SD-Card and it was Blank. There was NOTHING on it except for some Recovery Folders. SD Card is about 24GB. This looks like a lot to me. Is that really normal? Mounting system, data and sd via adb works like a charm.
So if one of you could help me that'd really be cool. If there is some crazy stuff i need to do via adb, please go into detail. I know the basics (how to mount partitions and to push files) nothing more.
But maybe it's just faulty...
Thanks in advance
Has anyone been able to successfully installed Lineage on an HTc One A9? I've unlocked my bootloader and turned S Off but Recovery Mode will not accept a flash of TWRP. Previous attempts have frozen device at Recovery Mode screen. The only way to correct is through reflashing factory ROM. I'm running the at&t version with Marshmallow. Please help!

I'm not sure if you're aware of this but, LineageOS has 2 different types of builds for the A9...
Are you sure that your using the "hiaeul" builds on the following link?
https://download.lineageos.org/hiaeul
That's the one for the AT&T HTC One A9.
Just wondering...

Yup. I was attempting to load hiaeul. No go. HTC's boot splash page just laughs at me. Denied
My HTC One A9 hiaeul is also failing to boot after installing lineageos-14.1 from TWRP.
It stops at the white boot screen, green "htc" and red "This build is for development purposes" message.
I'm surprised there are no answers posted here. There is only one correct package it will allow to be installed, so I don't think "try the other A9" is any sort of final answer.
Maybe the bootloader is too old?? If so, are there any solutions?
Hi,
got the same isue with my german A9. I changed Firmware Version to latest available 2.X Version and flashed the Nougat RUU from last years April (i guess). Stock Nougat is running great...but even after flashing TWRP via fastboot the Stock System will start staying in a bootloop of the HTC Logo. Turning off, vibrating, Logo, tunring off, vibrating, Logo and so on.
When I Flash latest LineageOS and gapps pico, it starts up and stays in Lineage-Boot-Animation for hours (let it try while i was sleeping last night for 6 hours)
Any idea? I can´t find out, which Firmware Version i Need for a working LineageOS. Also I don´t know if i Need some Special boot-Image or how the way is. I wonder why there isn´t a tutoril for this issue, though I found a few threads dealing with that issue and pretending I´m not alone.

After trying and trying different paths it finally works.
What I did:
1.) Flash the right firmware 2.xx (2.17.401.2 for me) via Download Mode and SD-Card method
2.) Flash the complete RUU for that firmware version with HTC nougat the same way like the firmware
3.) Booted the system to work.
4.) Flashed twrp 3.2.1.0 via Fastboot in Download Mode
5.) Booted Recovery and formated data and wiped everything (including system and data) except internal memory, external memory and USB-OTG
6.) Followed the instructions on lineagos website for installing lineageOS for the first time
6a.) Install lineageOS zip via recovery
6b.) NO(!!) wipe dalvik/cache
6c.) REBOOT into recovery (which is writen to be very important
6d.) Install gapps pico - and again no wipe dalvik afterwards
6e.) Flash lineageos_supersu zip
6f.) reboot system for the first time and be patient
System works. Hope i could help
Cheers
