Hi guys,
I have option to buy n920a in Europe, but is there any chance I can update phone without active AT&T sim card? Phone is brand new and unlocked, perfectly working 4g in my country, but only problem that worrys me is software update.
The ATT updates can be done without an ATT simcard, but the updates received to the ATT model are soo slow. You should just buy the international model, since they are rootable, and samsung updates them w.o the ATT bloat.

so, my Note 2 is a Canadian Wind version , T889V , fully stock, still waiting for multi view update.. :crying: , I am hoping my current Canadian carrier Virgin will push out soon. Anyways, I will be travelling to the USA next week and bought myself a T-mobile sim card so I can use their pay by day unlimited plans, so my question is once I get into the actual US T-mobile network, will I get the OTA update ? and if I do , should I do it ?
just concern with the modem might be US T-mobile only and won't work with Virgin Cananda anymore.... any thoughts ?
Hey folks,
I was originally considering purchasing the Note 3, as currently T-Mobile's Note 3 is the best to use on AT&T's LTE network since it doesn't come with a locked bootloader. However, I figured I'd purchase the less expensive Note 2 since I can't justify the $700+ price yet.
Which Samsung Note 2 version is not only the best to use on AT&T's LTE network but comes with the least bloatware? Is is the AT&T version, International version, or one of the Canadian versions? Will Android updates through the AT&T version come out as soon as it's available, or will it be anything like the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket where updates were released 3254320512 years later?
I'd also like to be able to use international sim cards when traveling abroad.
Much appreciated, thanks.

I cant talk too much on the first question, although I would guess that the ATT version will be the best, but if any of the others can operate on the same LTE bands they should work as well, although I would be careful with modem versions/etc,
As for the updates, ATT is usually slow, but then again most carriers are. Only way to get the fastest updates is to get an unbranded international Note 2
I got an AT&T Note II and had little difficulty rooting it and installing CleanROM, which got rid of a lot of the bloatware. More recently I went to CyanogenMod-based ROM, and now there's no Samsung software at all to worry about. That also takes care of the update issue since I don't have to wait for the carrier to update.
Yep, the best version will be the ATT version. As far as the updates go, it'll be getting the 4.3 update around mid-late November per all the leaks. Otherwise you can root it and flash a ROM that has no bloatware.

Hi,
i found a Note 4 from at&t for a good price and want to buy it. What i am wondering is how will the phone work if i am using it with a Canadian carrier? I'm with Rogers in Canada. Will the phone still get OTA update from AT&T or will it follow Rogers' s update schedule?
Can there be any issues or loss of features?
You won't get any updates AT ALL.
Since its an ATT phone, it can only receive ATT software updates, but ONLY if you have an ATT sim card inserted. Since you'll have a Rogers sim inserted, the phone won't be connecting to the ATT network, thus won't get ATT updates. It won't get Rogers updates either since again, it's an ATT phone, not a Rogers phone.
The ONLY way for you to get updates would be through Odin, but ONLY if someone is able to upload the latest ATT update.
And no, you won't be able to flash a custom rom or the firmware from a different Note 4 version. And sim unlocking it won't fix the updates either, it'll only allow you to use the phone, as-is, on the Rogers (or any other) network.
All of this has been asked many times here, but involving different carriers. I'm griping about you not searching or anything, just letting you know that these past posts are where I'm getting my info from.

We've all read about the things Verizon took out of the note 7. If I bought a different version if the phone, like sprint or tmobile, will it work with Verizon sim? Will I still be able to get updates?
I have searched for hours without any luck. I have been with an AT&T MVNO (Unreal mobile) for two years. During the 3g shutdown I was unable to use VOLTE on my S8 (VERIZON FIRMWARE). I found out the only way to use my S8 on UNREAL was to have AT&T firmware. I spent countless hours trying to flash ATT firware onto the Verizon S8, but I was unable to do it by flashing, but I found another way. I put a TMOBILE SIM in my S8 and it automatically loaded the TMOBILE firmware. Once the S8 was booted up I was able to run a USSD code (*#272*IMEI#) through the dialer which allowed me to switch to ATT firmware! Problem solved!!!! But a few months later my S8 was lost and I got a S9 (Verizon Firmware). I tried the same method as I used on the S8, but it doesn't work. When I put a T-mobile sim in the S9 it does not automatically change the firmware like the S8 did. From the Verizon dialer on both the S8 and the S9 it will NOT ALLOW USSD codes. Does anyone know if there is a way to run the USSD code (*#272*IMEI#) on the Verizon S9? Does anyone know why the Verizon S9 doesn't automatically change to T-Mobile after inserting a T-Mobile sim? Are there any other sims I can insert in the S9 to change the Verizon firmware in order to run USSD codes? Flashing my S9 is not an option for me because I must be too stupid. Anyhow thanks for your help!!!!
Seem's you+I have similar problem! I have s9 verizon unlocked, but I am with consumer cellular. They went to 4g recently now no call or recieve call! They gave me new sim, still not working! Told me shorter mobile wavelength from tower's! Last update on this phone was 2018? Won't update normal procedure! Wondering since this is U.S.A version if any way to update to 4 g? I'm fine on micro-soldering but when it come's to tech,a little to old I guess!!Lol Any help appreciated!

In my case I had a Verizon unlocked s9 and it turns out Verizon has bloatware that prevents many MVNO's from using VolTE. After tons of research the only solution I found was using patched ODIN to flash unbranded stock firmware in order to chance my model from a U model to a a U1 model. Now the phone works perfectly. Someone should file a lawsuit against Verizon (and ATT) for circumventing federal law on unlocked phones (technically they are unlocked but you can't use them because of their bloatware). It really is a major scam.
