Geometry dash random lag - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, as the title says, I'm facing random lags while playing geometry dash. Sometimes it runs at full speed with no slowdowns, sometimes it is just impossible to play because of the lag, no matter which option about graphics or music I activate in the game settings. The problem occurs both with many apps in background and with none. Sometimes it runs with no slowdowns even with some other games open in RAM. Other games use to run pretty well and the overall experience is quite good and lag free. Even if the G4 is not the most powerful phone out there I think that it should handle a 2d game like geometry dash with no problems at all, even my old Xperia S could run it with no lag. I therefore think that there is some kind of hidden process stealing resources, but I can't find it with processes monitor apps. I might be completely wrong though. Have you got any idea about it guys? Thanks in advance, best regards.

No one?

I'm having this issue

Hello Super98!
I know this post is a couple months old, but do you have the T-Mobile version of the G4 running the latest Marshmallow update?? I do, and my games have been performing poorly at random times also (Hill Climb Racing, Bike Racing, Smash Hit, etc.). I need to know if you found a solution.

Hi!
I have this same issue too
I have an LG G4 H811 Running Marshmallow (H811220o) And it lags horribly (specially on levels like Horizon by Mylon, Retro Circles, Fusion by Manix468 and others) Only this game lags for me, other games run well, I cant even save on my account, I dont know why

Yeah I hate it too, on the LG G3 and the G2 you could easily downgrade no issues, done it quite a few times with those phones, but on well, i just hope the developer optimizes the game better for the next big update (2.1, may it never be released, its been almost 12 months since last update)

yeah i had G2... also i think international you can actually update or downgrade.. no so sure.. am bootloader locked due to the bootloop. am itching to unlock it.. phone was already replaced and got a 601.. if only the bootloader could be relocked.. and a way to do it if you get hit by bootloop..

Luckily on the LG G3 D851 bootloader comes unlocked, which is useful to some people, and ive updated a Verizon LG G2 and downgraded both with TOT and KDZ files no problem, it was great because when I sold it I had a fue issues with Lollipop, so I downgraded and everything worked just fine, I dont know if the LG G5 has this anti roll back thing, hope not

[Q] I love my g3, but I cant stand the lag. What should I do?

I preordered my at&t lg g3 about a month ago with extremely high hopes, and coming from a jailbroken iPhone 5. Compared to it the UI functionality, battery life, screen resolution, openness of android, subpar camera quality, and many other features made me absolutely swoon over how amazing it was compared to that iPhone garbage. I have one really big problem with it though. Straight out of the box when I revived my lg, I have noticed major ui and app lag. Even after a month, the lag has remained persistent, even after many pointless factory reset and screwing around online to try to find a fix for the lag. I did root this phone, but I know good as well that rooting it did not do anything too the device to affect performance. I just installed some xposed modules such as removing the d delay between taking screenshots, the g3 tweaksbox from the play store (which I highly recommend paying 1.50 for three full version, it's Amazing), and getting rid of ads. The funny thing is, I expected my g3 to perform on par with smartphones with identical specifications, (snapdragon 801, krait 400, 3gb ram, 32gb memory). My brother has a galaxy s5, and I've run many tests between my phone and his, like app performance in games, opening/closing apps, antutu benchmarks, overall ui performance, and his phone basically destroys all off those tests against my phone. WHY?? I do realise that yes, the qhd screen does require more raw performance compared to fhd (I think I read somewhere it was 15%?), but most apps aren't optimised for qhd and put themselves to fhd, so why would a game like fruit ninja run at like 20 fps at fhd on my g3, and 60 fps on the s5, which is also rooted with the same amount of modules? And it's not just arcade fruit ninja either, games like temple run 2 lag when you get to a higher score, apps like tinberman open faster on my jailbroke iPhone 5 then my g3, and sometimes simple arcade games like don't touch the spikes have an occasiaonal stutter when you hit a spike, or just playing in general. I have also seen youtube videos of the g3 vs the s5 with opening apps and app performance, and they perform THE SAME! Plus the Ui didn't lag on YouTube either, my Ui scrolling between app pages (that's the Ui I'm mostly talking about, sometimes I also get lag in the stock browser and messaging app, but that's a different story) dips far below 30 fps, I would be able to tell if it was on YouTube because of the frame rate cap. I'm just fed up with it. I truly do love it though, in my opinion in has the best take on 4.4 kitkat I've seen, and coming from ios I still consider this ROM clean. Now for you, the xda forum what do you think I should do about my problem? I do not want any other phone but the g3. Should I unroot and flash stock Rom back onto my device and take it to at&t? I got this phone through the at&t next plan, so I'm not sure how they deal with warranties. Maybe they would give me a new device if I showed them the problems with it? I am running kitkat 4.4.2 if that helps.
Do what I did where.
Install the leaked 10j, remove the stock launcher and use nova. Also I you want it to fly do the high temp pro and thermal daemon mitigation mod. Be happy.
Like tntgdh I also put nova launcher and there is a little trick I use sony z2 live wallpaper from wssabi and set it to 60FPS. Phone is extra smooth. Under transittion effect od home screen i choose none or you can say generic google.

You should notice smaller app load times, faster boot ups, and better battery if you switch to ART. However, Xposed currently doesn't support it, so you would have to disable it until Android L came along.

Although there are many people out there who swear switching to ART does very little in terms of performance, I think it helps ALOT. Once i switched to ART i noticed the little stutters and little lags go away. My phone feels buttery smooth now. I also use nova launcher which is my launcher of choice, and it also performs buttery. I am very satisfied with its performance. Some may say I am just experiencing a placebo effect, but I think not.

Oh yeah it makes a difference for me too. I Decided to try Xposed after I changed to arp, so it reverted to dalvik. What a difference! I instantly noticed. So I ditched Xposed for now until it had support for arp.
One major thing was to install the 10j.
If you want something that will help a lot.. Install the 10j and use arp... Then if you wanna go further install nova and do the thermal mods.

Okay, thanks! The OP mentioned they had the AT&T version, so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. I'd love to be able to flash firmware and get rid of the lag on this phone, but it seems as though I'm stuff. I've tried every fix mentioned so far in this forum, but nothing's worked.

[Q] 10j firmware....is it worth it?

So I have the D855 running 10g with root(thanks to purple drake)
I heard everyone talking about the leaked 10j firmware
But I'm kinda overwhelmed by some folks who are saying that there phones are bricked in the installation of the firmware
....
Should I install this 10j or wait for the OTA?
Is it worth it?
Also please feel free to share what are the differences between the 10j and 10g
And I would really appreciate if any one shares tutorial on how to flash the firmware
I'm new to LG :/
Phones :
LG G3 D855 = I'm loving it
hTC Evo 3D = Broken to pieces
Galaxy Note 2 N7100 = Sold it
Cant say ive noticed any difference apart from the ability to lock the 60hz frame rate. I didnt really have any lag or heat issues on 10g.
Wait for ota
Going from 10F to 10J I saw a huge improvement. I'm not sure when it'll be properly released, so if you don't mind flashing and reinstalling everything constantly, it's worth it I reckon.
For me the temperature warning hasn't come up yet.
Everything is so much more fluid and responsive.
Also battery life, well it hardly drains compared to before.

LG G3 Users PLEASE READ!

Hi guys, im Kia.. Maybe someone knows me from G2 forum or from YouTube, never mind I just sold my G2 and im thinking what phone should i buy now. Money is not problem, theres no money haha lol . Hows battery life? And is it overheating when u play games and things like that? I heard some comments on youtube about overheating but if theres some better kernel than stock ofc i will install it... So if u suggest me G3 expect one ROM Reviewer in this awesome community. The g3, fells amazing even though its plastic. I used the phone from, 7 a clock in the morning to 4 at the night, and it only used 30% of battery life. This is with stock rom, no changes have been made. I fell it's a really solid phone, nice camera good screen, and fast! And we got offical cm12 now So just ask here or pm me, if you got any questions And the overheating thing was fixed with a update i belive. Atleast i don't have it. And all i had to do, for getting custom rom, was root the phone install twrp and the flash nothing else

Here`s my 2 cents:
1. Rooting the device is fairly simple imo. Downgrade to a KK rom, root it with PurpleDrake, flash a custom recovery and then you can flash a custom rom/kernel.
2. I`am not a big gamer but when i do i seldomly experience the thermal throttling issue. Maybe it kicks in during extensive gaming.
3. I think Cloudy 2.1 is the best stock based cutom rom atm which is very stable and fast.
4. Haven`t flashed custom kernels so far so can`t give you any personal xperience
Overall its a great device, i have the 32/3GB device whivh is the one to get imo. The camera is excellent in daytime/with sufficient light but in darker conditions pics can be a bit grainy.

Good luck and enjoy
cm 12 stable and camera better than stock ?
I loved oneplus one cm11s the customization of it? Does cm12 have all those features too? And is it on lollipop or kitkat base ? Too bad Xposed doesn't support lollipop yet....
In the price range you can't get much better than the G3. Good looking phone, full of potential.

LG G3 Marshmallow Pros and Cons

Im thinking about updating to Android 6 but im not quite sure if i should do it already.
Heard some good things about perfomance and overall feeling but also about lowered Imagequality.
What are your pros and cons about the update? Is it worth going? Pls help me

Well thx for your response! [emoji14]
im currently on fulmics 2.7 with xceed and its feeling really smooth. There is not a real reason for me to upgrad but i feel a bit outdated if i stay on lp. I know its stupid.
Im not using the camera for high quality shots at all but i also dont want to loose some of the quality. Is there any chance that lg will update the camera problem?
and about the knock code: i think there is no way for the devs to disable the "6knocks3areas" rule? i love the knock code on lp and dont want to miss it
I think I will wait and see if LG can fix this problems or maybe a dev can
As far as I know the MM release is somewhat a beta release since it was only released in Poland. It being a beta, I guess it's normal to have a numerous amount of bugs. So better wait for the global final release before ranting out on unfinished beta software.

Dont rly know what you talking about. Knock code for me works fine and camera FV 5 does the job well on every condition.
V30b is doing fine with and am most satisfied with batery life.
But looks like its just mz expiriance and its up to you if your going to wait for the nwxt relese or upgrade like me.
All the best .
:tapatalkin'
Ya works fine with me to. v30b is one smooth ride. knock code is only 2 more taps anyway so thats not to bad as far as camera goes it grand. Believe me LP sucks ass compared to this. do yourself a favor and flash+root v30b sure if you dont like it you can allways go back to lolipop ?

Each to their own. /TLDR. Narf.
If you come up with a claim at least try to put a reason behind it - everything else is just pure arrogance or simply said hot air venting from between the two bottom halves.
The JPG-Engine seemingly was downgraded just like the Camera is way less responsible and OIS (even while hardware-based) seems to be fcked up with their drivers introducing lag as such leading to blurry pictures under the same conditions that were absolutely fine on LP.
(And I don't have Parkinson)
Just ask kairi_zeroblade but I bet he's tired of those endless discussions with people that don't bring up reason or listen to those with more insight and technical knowledge (like him - I'm not even speaking about myself that is).
Like I said - each to their own. If you need to experience it yourselves and don't care you're free to do so.

Heres my problem with your opinion. Which it is an opinion. As with most reviews people give on xda, people here already have a high expectation based on their technical experience or lack there of. Ive found that if i compare peoples reviews from xda to other sites or real world, youll find a really wide spread. Im not saying youre wrong but you project opinion off as fact. Even reading this reply to people you attack anyone disagreeing by saying they are sheep or arrogant. Ever heard of variance. Sure every device comea off the line "identical" but errors happen. If you have a defective phone to begin with a software update may not fix it. Its why you get people on so many places on a line. Ive been with android since the beginning and these kind of responses have always happened. Ive seen peolle post and say that "everyone " is having the issue and they should either not buy the device or not update. Xda is not representative at all of any real user base for a specific device. For anyone looking for whether or not to install something or update. Id say take everything with a grain of salt and read many reviews. In the end its hpw you see the device.

Don't know what you're complaining about, ever since v30b was released, it completely changed my G3. The interface lags in Lollipop are gone, there was a 2sec stutter everytime I wanted to do something under 5.0. App switching is instant and the whole interface is running at 60Fps. In lollipop even the slide down menu was laggy as hell. I like the G4 UX and battery sleep time is actually a bit better than Lollipop. I'm extremely happy that LG kept updating the G3 and fixed a lot of problems, I will not update my phone this year. And I agree with @monkeypaws, a lot of people here praise stock based custom roms and kernels. The truth no one wants to hear on this forum is this : Stock based custom roms are 100% useless. You can do the debloating using Root Browser, you can install third party apps like App Ops or Kernel Auditor yourself. Custom Roms are not magic, a lot of people talk about how BUTTER SMOOTH this and SLEEP LIKE A BABY that and so on. Wake up, it's not any different than stock rom. So are custom kernels bumped to Linux 3.4.111 sources. Most of them are horrible in terms of battery saving because of 'Overclocking'. Apart from frying your already hot as a potato G3 on light use, you'll do nothing interesting to it.
The only noteworthy content in XDA are Cyanogenmods, AOSP, and the ports like on the Samsung scene, where the S6 edge features ported to the S5, or 5.1.1 ported to the S5 that was officially supported up to 5.0.2 only a few months back. There's actual work done, not some twelvie on Archikitchen feeling like a developer

For me,build 2a is still best. It's the most stable and battery friendly build for me.
Build 5 had poor battery timing for me and build 6 had several random reboots per day.Only thing I miss from latest builds is increased charging speed, but i can live without that
Gee thanks buddy...will give it a shot...
Hello everyone. I want to share with you my experience with Lg G3 2 gb version with stock android 6.0 mm. I have installed android mm on my device since 2 january. After one month of use i can say that updating to mm, for me ,was a very bad idea. I don't know how it is on other lg g3's but mine it got worse after the update. The camera is much worse than lp, memory management is just awful...multitasking became ussels...almost impossible, the phone is laggy and it stutter very bad. In my case lollipop was so much better than android mm. Only pros for the mm are the battery life and better looking UI. (sorry for my english, it's not my main language)
I find Marshmallow much better than Lollipop in the other hand.
Lollipop had bad battery life, performance was very inconsistent (sometimes it was fine, often I would get 10 second white screen hanging while launching apps like facebook, youtube, etc. ). But two worst things about Lollipop were often force closes of LG's launcher and invisible apps in Recents window. And all that was happening even though it was heavily tweaked to reduce the lag and preserve battery life. Quickcircle wasnt usable and practical at all (if you use it ofc).
Marshmallow has much better UI (all Lollipop UI bugs are fixed), performance is great and it's also CONSISTENT, just like battery life. I feel the camera is the same (IF YOU WANT TRUE CAMERA BUY A DSLR). Memory management is the same (it was good on Lollipop already). Quickcircle finally makes sense and it's practical.
If using stock roms, Lollipop is very unusable and need heavy tweaking until it's tolerable. Even then, Marshmallow is much more consistent and more responsive than heavily tweaked Lollipop and there are no random force closes.
If you are rooted, backup your existing Lollipop ROM, try out Fulmics MM ROM. If you dont like it, you can easily restore you LP ROM.
After all this different opinions i think i will wait for the global release. Fulmics 3.1 Rom seems to be good but maybe LG will fix some of their fails like knock code. LP is running pretty good for me so theres no real reason to upgrade
But thanks anyways!
I just wanted to say that xpirt managed to change the Knock Code in his MM Rom. Fulmics 3.5 has a 3 Taps Knock Code
So theres one probleme less. Maybe LG will fix their camera too

Does your (Jeter) Moto G6 play Lag & stutter when scrolling?

I have a Boost Moto 6 play aka: Jeter
These questions are ONLY for someone else who owns a Boost or Sprint Moto G6 play because the specs are VERY different from other variants of this name phone.
My question is this: Does your phone lag and stutter quite a bit? Because mine did when I got it and it was on 8.0 and I haven't done anything but ota to 9.0 and it's still laggy and stutters. VERY noticeable!!!!
I came from an old LG stylo 2 plus on 7.12 Nougat and it's night and day different! My stylo is smooth as **** compared to this!
My other question is are you rooted and using a rom and if so If you had lag before did it improve drastically after you installed a rom and got all the Moto & Boost app crap off? I need to know these two things please when someone gets a chance.
Thanks in advance!

I'm rooted, debloated, running stock 9.0 and I have no lag at all. I used to have it bad on Oreo though. If you did not factory reset after updating to Pie, I'd definitely do that. Every GSI I've flashed thus far has had horrible scroll lag, and sometimes bad lag opening settings and Bluetooth. The only exception to this was AOSiP, but the problem with that one is, it'll only read an external sdcard that's formatted as fat32, which kills the ability to store 4gb+ files. Stock uses exfat, which doesn't have that limitation.

This information is very much appreciated!!! I was just about to factory reset because I originally didn't after I updated to 9.0 but I did few hours ago and I can't tell if it made a difference or not but I think it did slightly. I have seven days before I can't take it back and swap out for another phone so I still have a few days. I just couldn't grab a Stylo 4 knowing that device will probably never see root due to the locked bootloader on every model. I assumed this device had same specs as original Moto g6 play, 3gb ram and so on and when I was at Boost store they shook their head when I mentioned something about it. So I get home only to find it has 2 gb ram and a quad 1.4 CPU. Again thanks for sharing the info. It is extremely helpful!

Mine doesn't lag either. Every now and then if I have a ton of apps open, it struggles a bit. That's it.
Rooted with latest magisk. Mildly debloated. Mostly the crap in OEM partition. Facebook is the worst offender.
You may have a defective unit.

I'm stock ota 9.0 Boost and I did a factory reset and deleted every app I could without being rooted.
I get a pause when I select random things at times. Like when I touch an app icon or go to settings, not always but a few times a day it will pause for maybe 2 seconds. Very noticeable! My unit did appear to be new packaging wise anyway when I got it.
I believe once I disable encryption and delete every app on here except playstore and a few others it will be much better. I appreciate you guys help and information very much!! I'll more than likely keep it. Maybe it's my service where I'm located. I seem to have a good signal though. I am very much used to metro pcs and they were very good where I am located. I'm going to put on lte discovery and watch my data connection and see if anything is weird there. Again thanks for the help!
Anybody have a list of apps that can be deleted. I want all this **** gone. ? Just unlocked my bootloader and rooted via magisk at 5am from my old Samsung on5 using Linux Ubuntu from my phone using otg. It was super cool af! I may do a video some day. But yeah anyone have a list of crap they deleted? I'm 90% there now just wanted to make sure I don't wipe something out that the stupid phone needs. Thanks in advance. ??
Ps: After deleting many bloat apps and decrypting my phone shows little to no lag whatsoever. They (Boost) really really packed this thing down with tons of trash apps. I had to do a backup of what I had gutted thus far so I can come back some day and finish when I have more time. On to the gsi crack flashing I go. Onward. ??
