I owned an gs2 b4 and used this mod its great performance booster.
It will work almost any phone and any rom(tested on nexus4 cm11 with similar hardware as zl and gs2 cm11)
ART Compatible (tested on nexus 4 )
It is not tested on xperia zl thats why i m sharing this but most probably it should work.
Plz do the backup before flashing because
I am only sharing this work i dont own this project
So sorry to say but i will not be able to answer any queries
Flash it at your own risk but it should work
Here you go with download link!

Tested on PAC Rom nightlies.
Adaway stops working after that and ads show up in several apps.
Speeds up system ui animations and everything seems to be smoother.
But no impact on benchmark scores.
Also, battery seems to drain faster.
Maybe it has a better effect on stock version..

In my case I've got 70 more points in Antutu Benchmark and no faster battery drain.
Besides that, I totally agree with you.
Edit:
Found a "fix" for AdAway not working.
or use

ACTUALLY THE MOD IS MENT TO DECREASE BATTERY USAGE for me it doesnt drain
Ok tested on cm11 and well... Doesn't make much difference... Few tweaks it enables is decrease the animation speed to .5x in developer options.... And allow plurging of assets in performance
Apart from that it does apply some minfree tweaks but in neither the benchmarks nor in normal usage do I see a change...
So yea I can't say it helps much in cm based roms where we could tweak the performance settings anyway... Maybe good for stock roms
Thanks for the share anyway

no i have been using this in my s2 since a long time until i bought zl it worked fine and benchmark is not boosted to a very high level maximus 200 it depends on the rom and it reduces lagginess

Yup it will but not much..
And to be honest.. Don't go for benchmarks ..
its all done quite easily as these boosters basically set ur cpu to performance mode whenever a fullscreen app runs.... That's it... If you look into it ull see most oems do that as well.. So u always get better benchmarks on stock roms as compared to aosp based roms.

i agree with you actually benchmarks arent that reliable for s2 it showed 200 but for many users its significantly negligibe.actually in the shared link its mentioned to increase benchmark thats why i had written "improve benchmarks"in title.rRemoved it now nomore quarrels about benchmarks!
Flashed the golden edition now and it gives me +480 Antutu points.
The fix for AdAway also works, thanks for that !
System ui responds fast and smooth. Will test it the following days and report back.

Guys the performance boost(If you feel benchmarks only show you the performance) comes from an increase in I/O score. Can anyone check that. I used to use such scripts on my galaxy 3 which atleast to some degree made me think the lag was gone . I don't think our phone needs such scripts. Our phone is already the fastest it can be and it's the fastest any phone can get right now . It can only be improved on by having better android( like an improved kernel?). Our phone has 2 gigs of RAM and do you think we need a minfree scipt for that? lol . That's the reason no one makes "scripts" for top tier phones. And those who feel the performance has been boosted check the CPU score differences in antutu, not the overall score which includes I/O too.

We do need the scripts buddy for our phones with unstable and laggy custom roms though our phones are good they arent the BEST !THIS IS JUST A WAY TO MAKE IT BETTER.if you feel so try it on ur phone.i personally dont go and rely on benchmarks
How about the kernel? What's a good performance kernel? or do I even need one? There's a guy in this forum who has managed to boost his Samsung GT-I8150's fps to 20! now how in the world did he do that? my current fps is max at 6fps(antutu benchmark) with only basic apps installed and most unneeded running apps forced-stop. i know there's so much can be done on this phone since its..ehh..a low specs device bt isnt Android(linux based) is all about reviving the dead? lol

Im running CM10.2 currently. So far, so good, even though theres bugs still present. As far as I know, there aren't any CM10.2 kernel for the W so you're stuck with the stock kernel that comes with the ROM itself. Im thinking that the guy who managed to somehow "boost" his device is probably running GB i mean its rock stable.
I made my SGW by flashing PurePerfomanceX® Tweaks and also uninstalling stupid useless system app like CM updater and LWPs. Also, since there's no other custom kernel for 4.3 (like i mentioned) I tweaked the Interactive governor from the guys at the GNexus forum and switched my I/O scheduler to deadline. Again, its pretty smooth although the only thing that I find irritating is the stutters i find when scrolling some super heavy apps but obv, this aint a Nexus 5 soo bare with the lags. Some additions i did was installing Seeder and LagFix (can be found at GPlayStore)

Woah man thanks alot on recomending the PurePerfomanceX® Tweaks! what a difference it makes lol and do i need to install those seeders&lagfix? im not a gamer so yeah are they really necessary? one other thing, how do i get the SmartassV2 governor? doesnt pureperformancex script includes that aswell? and finally(i promise! lol) do any of these tweaks help in conserving battery? prior to this, the battery was draining like mad it could be the condition of battery since ive had this phone for almost 2years now. before i go out and get new battery maybe if there was a tweak that could help reviving this old fella would be super. buying new phone is out of the question for the time being since i lost my samsung note3 2weeks ago..sigh sad life.
anyway thanks alot brother for the kind help
Here is updated Thermanager, which could be flashed in recovery. I have made some changes after I played Asphalt game for about one hour. With this update, on performance governor the temperature never went higher than 58. And we are talking 1 hour straight. I doubt you can have that on stock. What was interesting that performance governor produced less heat than interactive, which supports my claim that when cpu jumps frequencies, it creates additional overhead.
Now, regarding myths and fiction about stock rom not overheating. There are some dudes on this forum who complain that their Z1 overheats to 70+ on custom roms when they play their beloved games; on stock, they say, there is no overheating.
Here is a short answer. You, guys, don't know what you are talking about.
Custom roms (and custom kernels) give you tools that are not available in stock. You just have to learn how to read/use them. Here is one example: some roms allow you to have internal cpu temperature on screen. Now that you have it, you watch. When it hits 70, you panic, but if you touch the back door, it will be barely warm. So, when you are on stock and without temperature reading, you think your phone is not overheating, while it can still have 65-70.
I used a modified version of M5 kernel compiled with GCC 5.2.1 Ubertc; CPU at 2457; performance governor, inteliplug balance with touch boost disabled; GPU overclocked to 600 with msm-adreno-tz idle wait 30 and workload 3; swapiness 10; enthropy 1024 read/write. That was on DU rom, but I bet the result would be the same on Jaguar and some other custom roms.
lol, that dude is Me, and I will try this, in the stock rom I can see an process running as overheat manager or something, I think it might have to do something with it. I'm sure that my device got heated very much, I didn't meant to offense but you seems to got it wrong. btw I will try this. I use Jaguar atm.
Thanks
I don't think that my phone won't reach 60 C on stock, but I like watching YouTube, so I can see how fast it warms. (I have xposed module that shows me cpu temp even on stock). And as much as I can say my phone warms faster on custom roms than on stock. No matter what governor I use.
Also all animations (like status bar showing) are kind of laggy on custom roms. I don't know it it got better in past 2 months, but last time I used custom rom my phone reached 50C even only with chrome.
Interesting thing is that this all (including animations) is not present on 3.10 kernel, but there are no usable roms at the moment with 3.10 kernel, so I have to use stock.

Overheat manager: whatever it is, all it does is throttling and thermanager does the same on custom roms. So, the trick is to throttle enough without you noticing any lags...

It's a YouTube app. Really? It's weird, maybe I'll try, but I can see the difference on battery time when I come home from school - on stock I have ~70% and on custom roms I have ~50. Anyway I'll try and report after few days.
Okay, I can say that custom roms are now ok for me when it come to battery life. I compared usual usage of mine on stock and custom roms and now it really gives me same battery life. The only change I made this time is that I used DU instead of Jaguar and this thermalmanager settings.
Though there are still two things that bother me on custom roms: laggy UI - I don't know what causes that, I tried changing lot of cpu/gpu thing to sort it out, but nothing helped. And the other one is headset connecting - I have to press and hold (for a little while) all the buttons on headset to get it recognized.
I'm returning back to stock, but I can say that now is overheating on custom roms gone.
Thank you, @optimumpro

OK. Nice to hear that about battery life and overheating. With regard to lagging: it is not cpu, but rather animations. Either disable them completely in developer options or in DU you can go to tweaks and pick and choose whatever animation you want. I just disable all animations and have absolutely no lag.

I've a OnePlus 3 Device.. When I Play Pubg in Med Settings.. it Lags like hell and i turned to Low Preset Still The same any solutions???
There was same problem with me too...
1. Make sure upgrade to v0.4.0.
2. If problem still continues use Elementalx kernel and overclock cpus and also turn on GPU boost to high.
Though regardless to say play on Europe server?
I play with framerate set to HIGH and BALANCED and it runs smooth most of the time.....

i'm on latest OOS beta with Derp kernel, no lag what so ever on PUBG , just played it for the 1st time last night, on HD and medium fps (and one mission on high), no lags what so evert, but here's heating normal and expected with this type of games, but didn't effect the game play.
it'll hit the battery though , i went from 92% to 20% in 70 mins of continues playing on high settings. also make sure if you're on OOS to add it to game do not disturb mode, it helps.
i do have same problem on open beta, ill try to flash costum kernel...hope they fix this on next update...

Sorry to say but it will lag in anyway
Coz it is powered by Snapdragon 820 which just sucks in gaming , not becoz of GPU (Andreno 530 is good enough) but becoz of low cores count and thermel throttle ?
And PUBG mostly depends on multicore performance of the processor, in which sd820 littrely sucks (820=450 in multicore performance)
Snapdragon 660 is much better choice for gaming it's much stable than 820/821
Someone said to me to use GFX Tool on play store and enable the vulkan and see the changes. He said it was lagging but after enable the vulkan it turns out pretty smooth after but pretty much drains the battery.

I second this, used GFX Tool with the following parameters:
PUBG M Version 0.6
Resolution: 1280x720
Style: Classic
Graphics : Balanced
FPS: 60fps
Vulkan : Enabled
Anti-Aliasing: Disabled
Running On DU v12.3
Kernel DU stock
Active battery drain after 33mins of use 9% and lags at all.

I dont know, it was smooth here currently on Nougat Zenity RR. But I do also face the lag when I'm using Unofficial RR Luis and I even overclocked the cpu, but it was smooth on OOS with stock kernel and MSM Xtended so far before. That recommendation to enable vulkan was from someone I haven't test it yet since I dont face the lag right now. Sorry can't help much, I also did not understand much why.

Not true , as mentioned on another post above, I also use the latest oos beta ROM, with derp kernel 4.4 , nonlags what so ever , not even a little ...
I've been playing pubg for a month now , and with the above setup I had no lags... I even use maple I/O sched , which by nature may cause some lag and despite that it doesn't.
onePlus stock kernel specially on beta may have issues from time to time, and a lot of cutom kernels for cutom ROMs are configured more toward battery life...
For stock rom use either derp or blu_spark, they will work out of the box without issues, Blu have more heating though on my experience.
For custom ROMs you'll need to ask the kernel dev what settings anss scheds to use ...I'd imagine flash kernel will be ok right out of the box but will not be as battery friendly as the others .
No
Well if you are happy with 20-35fps performance, than trust me you don't really need a flagship, you will be satisfied even with Snapdragon 450 which can give similar performance to sd820 in PUBG lol [QUOTEuke7;76899133]Not true , as mentioned on another post above, I also use the latest oos beta ROM, with derp kernel 4.4 , nonlags what so ever , not even a little ...

Guys if you want to game dont do it on a mobile device. Let alone a cheap China device with high failure rates on hardware.
Could anyone suggest a ROM / Kernel that is tried and tested to not lag on OnePlus 3T? I am currently using a different phone just to play the game and I really wish to move back to my phone ... Any method that is tried and tested to function properly with no lags on the current PubG update would be really appreciated

You will be hard pressed to find a combo that works. You will most likely need to build a rom made for it as most roms are not made for gaming which to be honest is a sad state on mobile device.

Well i'm baffled with you guys, i ran it just fine, i even downclocked it to 1 & 1,5 Ghz (lil&big). My configs: Omnirom and the included kernel (holydragon) downclocked, display driver updated to V313 (look for adreno driver in mi mix forum) use rev15 as it is less glitchy and even has tangible score boost almost 6000 gain in antutu GPU section. And that's it, HD and High setting acquired, i even get extreme setting when i first install the driver, but somehow it disappears lol. If you want to run it even better, use old gfxtool to old pubg apk, run and then update the pubg, immediately uninstall the gfxtool to avoid ban by the new pubg detection for gfxtool. Sorry too long.

Hi,
I flashed stock android 10 image after it was released a few days ago and the battery life is GARBAGE. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know adaptive means it should get better after a few days, but I don't really see this.
Battery life for me is pretty horrible, I can't get 2 hours of screen time doing simple things like taking photos, reading the news and email and some book reading. I don't even play games, I would say processing of HDR photos is the most intense thing I've done. I updated on Tuesday and battery life has not improved.
I had the same terrible battery experience with android 10 stock until I changed kernels. Assuming you are rooted, you can install Ex Kernel Manager, then go to the ElementalX tab and click to check for update and it will give you the option to download and flash Elemental X v. 5.05 for pixel xl android 10. It will flash the new kernel for you and then ask if you would like to reboot. Once you reboot you can change governors and many kernel settings. Currently I am at 54% with over 3hrs screen on time and average about 15 hours per charge with 6 or more hours screen on time. This is at least double what I was getting on the stock kernel.

I installed it and changed cpu governor to power saving. No difference.

Actually, even if I do apply on boot, is resetting governor to sched. Hmm
I don't see a real battery difference switching to powersave, just a performance difference.
I didn't actually switch the kernel, though. That's with the included kernel.
The battery life really is awful. Any ideas?
Changed to Elemental.
Set governors to Elemental.
NO improvement in battery.

here are my settings on Elemental. *note under cpu, I have to manually disable perfd after every reboot as the setting doesn't stick but everything else where the apply on reboot is highlighted works automatically. Battery is noticibly better with perfd and core control disabled.

Battery life for me is pretty horrible, I can't get 2 hours of screen time doing simple things like taking photos, reading the news and email and some book reading. I don't even play games, I would say processing of HDR photos is the most intense thing I've done. I updated on Tuesday and battery life has not improved.

That's awesome! but, does it have significant impact on performance compared to stock kernel? I'd like to balance out performance and battery life.
I wiped the phone and installed 10.
No improvement with battery.
Also, now I have the problem of my messaging and email apps don't update unless I manually open them. and sensor seems to be messed up to where if you tap twice on phone, you don't see clock, and picking up phone doesn't show notifications, despite these options being turned on. I know there is a bug on this.
For what it's worth, I was on the Q betas, and battery life was similar to what I was getting on pie. Then once the official update installed, battery went to garbage even after several days. I ended up downgrading to Oreo leaving the bootloader unlocked, but installing elemental x kernel so that I'd still pass safety net. I had heard before that Oreo had better battery life than pie.
Things improved after that, but I know that a downgrade like this won't be an option for most people.
Edit: also should mention that I've underclocked the CPU using the installer for the ex kernel which has also given me a slight boost in battery life. Don't really notice any performance difference for my usage.
where to dowload elemental 5.05 .img ? i can only get the .zip file but i have no way to flash it.

I used ex kernel manager to flash it and then rebooted but it's a paid app. for a free app you could try flashify which is an app that can flash kernels and recoveries. I haven't used it in a long time to flash a kernel so I make no guarantees but it has worked well for me in the past.
How much did you underclock? I went back to 8.1 and battery life is much improved.
Stock seems fine to me 6hr sot on lte off charger for 17 hr. But did replace battery a year ago

Hey, I assume you're asking me. I underclocked to 1440 for the small cores (down from 1593), and 1900 for the big cores (down from stock 2150). The aroma installer has a few values to choose from, so you can try experimenting a bit. The values I used represent about a 10% drop from stock speeds.

Yes I was asking you, sorry for some reason it didn't reply to your comment. Thank you, I'm going to experiment and see how it goes. Are you doing anything else to improve battery life?

The biggest battery drain I have is keeping WiFi on. So I created some tasker profiles to turn off WiFi 2 minutes after the screen goes off, and back on when the screen goes on. It also only turns off if it's not plugged in. Still not perfect, but works well enough for me.
