I cant make or recieve phone calls but everything else works even my wifi number work - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

3 days ago after getting new apn setting for metropcs, when i rebooted my phone it stopped making and receiving calls

APN settings affect data access, not calls.
Is the imei properly displayed from the dialler? Was the ROM changed or altered?

yes the imei is properly displayed from the dialer. im not sure if rom changed or altered. how do i check

The simplest solution would be to flash back to a stock rom using Odin; however, flashing the stock rom may require you to perform a factory wipe before booting the stock rom for the first time.

Cant make phone calls

I first seen this problem when i flashed synergy rom. My phone failed to activate so as a result it wouldnt make/recieve phone calls but i could text and use data normally. So i tried skipping the setup, using global apn, went to stock then came back, re-flashed many times and the result was either no service or i couldnt make/recieve calls. So i tried to Odin back to stock and unroot, then tried a different rom but still it wouldnt work. I then restored a backup i had of CS ROM but still not working. Any help would be appreciated.
Update: Okay so incase anyone runs into this problem I found a fix that works for me. What i did was bring my phone completely to stock and unroot it. Then i got a notification telling me about a software update, when i opened it a popup came telling me Im now registered. Then I rooted and flashed synergy rom, skipped the setup but then text or phone calls didnt work, so i put airplane mode on then off, and voila it working again.

Did you check your IMEI? If it's unknown or 0, there's a stickied thread on how to restore it.
Also, make sure you have the right modem for you carrier (modem thread if you're not sure). As well as having the right APNs.

[Q] Mobile Network not available

Hello!
Many times when I try to make a call, mobile network not available message appears and the only fix is to restart the phone
Please note: That I am able to make and receive calls & sms but not always and even when I have full signal.
I have tried re-flashing my latest country's firmware, restoring to factory defaults.
I have doublechecked and made sure that my phone's IMEI is not damaged.
What else should I try?

maybe a network problem brother
or you are not on appropriate mode
go to dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* and see if you are on correct network mode

Can't make calls out (Random only on network mode WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect)

Hi.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 model on carrier T-mobile. Lately the phone has gone nuts and will get stuck on dialing out and will never make the call. Everything else works fine. Sometimes I have to soft reset, pull the battery and that will fix it for a call or two, then it will get stuck again. I have contacted T-mobile about this over 5 times and none of them can help. We tried to change the sim, reset the account. Etc and nothing. I have reset the cache, factory reset and even put in a good working sim card from another phone and the same problem comes up. During my latest troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to where I switch "network mode" to GSM only and that can make calls out all the time, but the data stays on E (which then I can't use the internet because it's so slow) When I switch back to auto I am sometimes able to place calls again, but only a few. After I test a few calls and leave the phone for a few minutes the phone will get stuck back on not making calls out and just saying "dialing".
Has anyone had the same problems or know of a fix? Currently I have been trying to flash the modem to different versions to see if that fixes the problem. The first two modems I have flashed did not work and came up with "unknown baseband".
If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it.
This is a known issue with 4.3.. What firmware are you on? Assuming you flashed the correct baseband for your device, the 'unknown baseband' message sounds like you are in 4.3 but what build? You can't flash any modems successfully less than 4.3

I was previously on 4.1.2 when the problem first started. I updated it to 4.3 and still the same problem.
jss15j.t999uvuenc2 build. (I put this one back on last night so at least I can use the phone today when I am at work)
I was just hoping that the device didn't go bad when it was on 4.1.2 because it was working just fine before the problem started.
Was it official update to NC2 by OTA/Odin or you just flashed a ROM?

NC2 was OTA. After doing some searches it said that OTA could of been corrupt, so I went and downloaded KIES and did a reinstall that way.
When I upgraded to 4.3 I tried that default baseband out and had the same problems. That is when I was searching on google and came across this forum and also the thread about flashing modems.
What APN (Access Point Name) are you on ? Also what is your Preferred Network Type set to ? Its located in Settings > More I think.(I don't use Stock Firmware)

APN is epc.tmobile.com
Network Mode current set to GSM (the only way I can make calls out without the problem occuring)
WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect) is what it should be on so my data is at 4G, but the calls is the problem here
I am not sure but can you check the settings of the Dialer to see if there is ways to choose Lookup providers ?

Nope don't see anything in the dialer about selecting a provider..
Its supposed to be something about Choose Lookup Providers. At least that's the way it is on AOSP.
I suggest Odin flashing the stock NC2 firmware and then factory resetting from stock recovery. (Backup first of course!) If it is still an issue, it will most likely be a hardware problem. From what you have said so far, I believe that you will find this to be the case. Could've been due to damage from a drop, or even overheating at some point. Or it could just be that its simply due to hardware degradation over time.

[Q] I installed a new ROM, now I have no cell service.

So the warranty on my SGH-I747m just expired, so today I decided to install a custom ROM. I installed CWM, made a backup, then flashed the latest d2lte nightly of CarbonRom. Now I have no cell service, and my APN menu is blank. If I try to enter in my APN settings manually and tap 'save', it doesn't save - the list remains blank. I tried downloading Tweakker's APN app, and it says I have no SIM card!
I know my SIM card works perfectly fine, because I was making calls and texts and had internet just hours before I decided to install this ROM. So what the heck is going on here?! This would be the third Android device I have installed a custom ROM onto, all on the same carrier, and none have given me this trouble before.
Is your bootloader and modem up to date?

Either flash the rom again with a clean install or switch roms OR use your nandroid backup that you should have made to back to your previously working system setup. You may also have to enter the correct apn for your rom under settings/mobile network I believe
