[Q] Mobile Network not available - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello!
Many times when I try to make a call, mobile network not available message appears and the only fix is to restart the phone
Please note: That I am able to make and receive calls & sms but not always and even when I have full signal.
I have tried re-flashing my latest country's firmware, restoring to factory defaults.
I have doublechecked and made sure that my phone's IMEI is not damaged.
What else should I try?

maybe a network problem brother
or you are not on appropriate mode
go to dialer and type *#*#4636#*#* and see if you are on correct network mode

Emergency Calls Only...

Hi,
last night this problem just came out of nowhere. I was texting and calling fine like hour before I noticed it happen, but whenever I try to call it hangs up, and whenever I try to text it tells me to try again when service is available. On the lock screen it tells me "Emergency Calls Only", but sometimes it shows "Virgin" I'm with Virgin Mobile Canada, but still doesn't work. I've tried the following:
1. Pulling out battery and putting it back in.
2. Nandroid restore to when I first rooted it, and when it was working fine.
3. Take out SIM card, battery, and memory stick
4. Putting it into airplane mode and disabling airplane mode about 30 seconds later.
5. Unrooted to original Bell Stock Rom image from a thread and now have normal recovery
6.Data/factory reset
The only thing I do have a possible lead on is that yesterday I created a recovery tar file, from a recovery image I got from cwm website under AT&T, thought it was also for Bell (Model wise) as well, so don't know if that's the case, does that have to do with anything? I'm back to stock recovery and rom and from a thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 and downloaded the Bell/Virgin image, and flashed with Odin, I am back to stock, but still did not fix issue. It says Virgin on the top sometimes, and sometimes back to "Emergency calls only" could the recovery flash have changed radio or something? I also did do a restore before I flashed the new recovery and when phone was being normal just before unrooting but that also didn't work. Now I am unrooted and not on custom recovery. But still no service. Most of the time the service is 1 bar, but even when it's on 5 for like 10 seconds, it still doesn't work. Is it me or my carrier? I also noticed that even when the signal shows full strength it tells me "Emergency Calls Only". Thanks for the help.
I'd call Virgin and ask if your service was interrupted for any reason.
Yeah I'm going to do that, but I just looked at the IMEI number on the back of the phone, and looked at it in settings, but it did not match the number it had at the back. It just says 0 in the phone settings. Does that have anything to do with it? I wanna know if this is has anything to do with that first before calling.
EDIT: Okay so I did some research and yes that is apparently the problem, so I rerooted to custom recovery, and followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801997 my IMEI is back, and matches, and it says "Virgin" now at the top of my lockscreen, but still, I can't send messages or call. Did the deleting of IMEI also delete something else I should restore? Or is it something on their side? I am connected to Virgin Mobile, but the connection is extremely weak, and does not complete any calls or texts. There's also "IMEI SV" under settings and it says "01" is that an issue?
EDIT 2: Nevermind I just had to follow post 3 after fixing IMEI in that thread I linked and it worked! In case you researched and got here. Follow thread I linked up.

I'd like to resurrect this thread for a moment. Papaniz's problem is exactly like mine, same carrier & country.. but the link is dead.. any idea what the process was or where another link might be? Thanks Guys

The thread was remove to avoid illegal problem. You'll most likely have to look somewhere else to recover your IMEI if flashing stock firmware doesn't fix it.

[Q] (Ace II x) Issues with cellular networks and connecting to them

So stupid me was fooling around in the *#197328604# menu and I accidentally screwed up my IMEI number (whoops my bad. not going in there again). After watching a YouTube video (Found via Googling), I managed to restore it (It now once again matches the IMEI on the bottom of the phone's box). However, I still have no cell service.
1. When I have the phone on the lock screen, it says "Emergency Calls Only". From time to time it may also say "Invalid SIM" or something along those lines.
2. When I look for mobile services (Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks), it pops up an error, "Insert SIM card to access network services", even though the SIM card is inserted.
3. Sending a text message fails. It just says it will wait with it until a network is available.
4. Placing phone calls fail. "Not registered on network"
5. The phone can read the SIM though. Going to the Contacts, and going to Import/Export has the SIM card options, and nothing goes wrong when selecting them.
Where can I go from here? I've cleared the Dalvik Cache to no avail as well. It almost works, so I think it's software related, or perhaps my SIM is malfunctioning, but I want to exhaust every possibility before going back and saying "my phone is acting wonky".
Have you tried a factory reset? If that fails, you might need to reflash the ROM.

Yeah. Resetting it failed. I can't get past the setup. After skipping WiFi setup, I just get a black screen and nothing shows. I may have to do a stock reflash. If that too fails, I may see if I can bring it in.
Edit: Stock reflash failed to fix it as well. Gonna bring it back and get it replaced.
Edit 2: Got a replacement SIM, didn't fix the problem. Seems it's hardware based (or software). Is it possible to remove all traces of a root before sending it in to make it appear unmodified?

It's not *#197328604#, it should be *#197328640#
been there lol

I've recovered from doing the exact same thing. It will take a lot of trial and error. What network are you on?

Can't make calls out (Random only on network mode WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect)

Hi.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 T999 model on carrier T-mobile. Lately the phone has gone nuts and will get stuck on dialing out and will never make the call. Everything else works fine. Sometimes I have to soft reset, pull the battery and that will fix it for a call or two, then it will get stuck again. I have contacted T-mobile about this over 5 times and none of them can help. We tried to change the sim, reset the account. Etc and nothing. I have reset the cache, factory reset and even put in a good working sim card from another phone and the same problem comes up. During my latest troubleshooting I have narrowed it down to where I switch "network mode" to GSM only and that can make calls out all the time, but the data stays on E (which then I can't use the internet because it's so slow) When I switch back to auto I am sometimes able to place calls again, but only a few. After I test a few calls and leave the phone for a few minutes the phone will get stuck back on not making calls out and just saying "dialing".
Has anyone had the same problems or know of a fix? Currently I have been trying to flash the modem to different versions to see if that fixes the problem. The first two modems I have flashed did not work and came up with "unknown baseband".
If anyone can help I greatly appreciate it.
This is a known issue with 4.3.. What firmware are you on? Assuming you flashed the correct baseband for your device, the 'unknown baseband' message sounds like you are in 4.3 but what build? You can't flash any modems successfully less than 4.3

I was previously on 4.1.2 when the problem first started. I updated it to 4.3 and still the same problem.
jss15j.t999uvuenc2 build. (I put this one back on last night so at least I can use the phone today when I am at work)
I was just hoping that the device didn't go bad when it was on 4.1.2 because it was working just fine before the problem started.
Was it official update to NC2 by OTA/Odin or you just flashed a ROM?

NC2 was OTA. After doing some searches it said that OTA could of been corrupt, so I went and downloaded KIES and did a reinstall that way.
When I upgraded to 4.3 I tried that default baseband out and had the same problems. That is when I was searching on google and came across this forum and also the thread about flashing modems.
What APN (Access Point Name) are you on ? Also what is your Preferred Network Type set to ? Its located in Settings > More I think.(I don't use Stock Firmware)

APN is epc.tmobile.com
Network Mode current set to GSM (the only way I can make calls out without the problem occuring)
WCDMA/GSM (Auto Connect) is what it should be on so my data is at 4G, but the calls is the problem here
I am not sure but can you check the settings of the Dialer to see if there is ways to choose Lookup providers ?

Nope don't see anything in the dialer about selecting a provider..
Its supposed to be something about Choose Lookup Providers. At least that's the way it is on AOSP.
I suggest Odin flashing the stock NC2 firmware and then factory resetting from stock recovery. (Backup first of course!) If it is still an issue, it will most likely be a hardware problem. From what you have said so far, I believe that you will find this to be the case. Could've been due to damage from a drop, or even overheating at some point. Or it could just be that its simply due to hardware degradation over time.

I cant make or recieve phone calls but everything else works even my wifi number work

3 days ago after getting new apn setting for metropcs, when i rebooted my phone it stopped making and receiving calls
APN settings affect data access, not calls.
Is the imei properly displayed from the dialler? Was the ROM changed or altered?

yes the imei is properly displayed from the dialer. im not sure if rom changed or altered. how do i check
The simplest solution would be to flash back to a stock rom using Odin; however, flashing the stock rom may require you to perform a factory wipe before booting the stock rom for the first time.

8.0 update made mobile data not work

I have the Honor 7x, and recently update to the 8.0 Oreo android update. Immediately after the installed the update in the morning, I noticed that my mobile data was no longer working correctly.
Wifi can connect, I can make phone calls, send text, literally everything else about the phone works perfectly.
A day later I got another update 8.0.0.332, however I am still unable to access my mobile data.
I use At t for my phone service, and do not have any damage to the phone (havent dropped the phone, water damage, etc).
My friend has the exact same phone, with the exact same phone service, and got his update the same day without having any issues.
Thing I have tried in attempt to fix the problem already based on google searches:
I have tried turning my phone into airplane mode, waiting, turning off airplane mode (also with trying a hard reset on the phone).
I have switched my simcard to slot 2.
I have put my simcard in another phone, and verified that the sim card is still working properly (the other phone was able to access data just perfectly).
I have tried turning off 4G data, and putting it back on.
I have tried resetting the APN back to default.
I have tried manually typing in my APN.
I have also tried network setting reset.
And finally, I have tried a factory data reset.
Running out of ideas of what else to try, hoping you guys have some ideas to help me out with this problem
Much thanks.
Flash a ROM and see if that does anything, if you want. Another thing to do is to do what the post below mind says, thanks.
Or join the Telegram Honor 7x group chat lol

This solution worked for me.
@firedeepinfire did you end up finding a solution to this issue? I am having the exact same problem and I have tried all of the troubleshooting you listed.
Thanks so much in advance!
I got a fix on it
Only one single step to do is
Go to Settings
Back up and reset
Reset
Reset network setting
This fixed my issue...
Cheers
