Just use a third party player like mxplayer. Far better than stock anyway.

I'm talking about system app sound mod settings for things like YouTube . Making volume for system apps louder that don't use 3rd..party players
Sent from my SM-T700 using XDA Free mobile app

I have mentioned a simple mod before. Somebody should have put it into a sticky. If you have root, simply edit the /system/etc/default_gain.conf, as explained here.
This does a healthy boost to the headphone sound, but there is not much room left to boost the speaker sound. I think for the speaker value I set the value to something like 131 or 140, because at higher values I could hear the sound distortion.

To my mind the best sound mod that includes gain control (volume increase) is Viper4Android. I wrote a how-to install V4A plus included the necessary flash files. Many people have successfully used those instructions.

I agree with 3DSammy. Viper4Android is your best option in my opinion. There's even a guide in the themes and apps section to get it working with stock Samsung player if you like that stock player.

DSP Manager for TouchWiz

I've looked around for a DSP Manager for TouchWiz roms but i have not found anything. Does such a thing exist or must I change to an AOSP or CM room?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I tried that for a while too. There is a version of awesome beat that works but only with other music player; not the stock Samsung one. And even then, it's buggy. Sometime applying setting for Bluetooth audio to headphone, etc. I eventually have up and just use the default dsp built in; which again, can only be accessed by other music player
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
You're not looking hard enough.. I'm using it right now, the only problem is that it doesn't work with any music player in touchwiz except for poweramp and it works great!! but you have to disable direct volume control in audio settings and also disable the eq in poweramp, and everything that is enabled there for best results

Damn! Alright then, thanks for the suggestion
Sure no problem, it does work with everything else though like browser, Pandora, YouTube, pretty much anything that doesn't read music from your SD

[APP] ViPER4Android Audio Effects

I am not the Dev nor I am a paid user. I am just relaying my experience on this app on my I747.
All I have say is that this APP blows everything out of the water. Not just your average Effect processor it goes FAR and beyond.
I can go on about it all, but you guys can click on the link and read more. I now enjoy my S3 for listening to music 300% more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
About ViPER's Audio
ViPER's Audio is an audio enhancing software to provide everyone with better audio experiences in various platforms such as smartphones and PCs.
ViPER's Audio is founded by Euphy Wong (ViPER520). ViPER's Audio has been a popular audio mod in China. Recently, co-founder Zhu Hang extended the popularity globally through xda-developers forum. It has gained fame and made its stand in the audio mod field.
ViPER's Audio made great improvements in Bass with its dynamic bass system and ViPER Bass. ViPER's Audio also outshines in terms of Clarity with its unique ViPER Clarity and XHiFi technology. Surround sound had never been enough until the presence of field surround, differential surround or haas effect and Virtual Headphone Surround+.
Talking about audio effect, nothing is more significant than convolution. Being the first audio mod to have Convolver makes ViPER's Audio a must for effect lovers. Convolver lets you load technically any impulse response sample you have.
ViPER's Audio is concern with user's auditory health too. Auditory Protection System with the one and only Cure Tech+ reduces your ears' stress and keep you ready for longer duration of pounding musics.
All of these audio processors can only do so much with a lossy format, such as mp3 and others. If one truly wants a better listening experience, they should download FLAC files.

Appreciate you sharing this. I've been trying to install this since u linked it in the PA thread.
If possible, could you give me a little step by step on how you got it up and running?
I'm on Carbon 4.3 nightly.
Did u make any build.prop edits? Are u on the 4.3 version now since it was updated yesterday? Are you running this as a system app? I can get everything installed including drivers, but something is just not installing correctly cause when I make adjustments to the Fire Equalizer there just isn't any change in audio. So something is a miss for me.
Thanks again.

download the 4.3 apk download drop it into system/app 0644 permission reboot then install 9/15 with neon(something like that dont know exact verbatum) reboot again and done , jus make sure any existing audio processor is removed DSP, AWESOMEBeats, KingBeatz etc
This is truly beautiful sounding. With the .IRS files and the ton of options is just like a serious soundgasm.
I also have started listening to even more music.

Which music player are u using? For me, using Power amp, I had to disable the EQ, DVC, and Audio Buffer in order for this to work.
Also which ROM? Make sure in sound settings Viper is enabled and if u have DSP in your ROM uninstall it.

Low Volume Issue - Solved

I solved my weak low volume using Medlez new build for Noozxoide EIZO. It works fine. See Nexus 4 Forum.
Also VLC did wonders before I installed it. So Vlc is your best bet if you are not rooted. Other players with volume gain feature like Diceplayer and Archos raise video volume but not as much as they did on my Galaxy. I couldn't hear anything in the car.
With EIZO vlc is now too loud and reaches distortion level easily.
Hope this help.

Its not perfect. I had some games crashing on me. I think I was the first to try this. Misledz is working on an official flo mod as we speak. Should be ready soon. Be careful with this. Make sure you don't try and report bugs in the n4 thread as this is NOT supported. I wouldn't even try to report bugs on whatever ROM you are on as this is not completely stable. All that being said it does seem to work for the most part and I do use it as well until the official release.

Apps like this (all apps also, but especially apps like fauxsound) are well worth buying for two main reasons:
-You get updates without having to waste time on Google
-YOU SUPPORT THE AMAZING DEVELOPER(s) WHO HAS BROUGHT YOU THIS MAGIC

When you bought the tablet if they offered an option to include a sound mod like faux sound for $2. You wouldn't hesitate to add it at time of purchase. So why not spend the two bucks now. It supports a great developer too. Even if you don't use his kernel a lot of other devs use faux sound and it works on multiple devices. I have it installed on my n4 as well at no extra cost.

Faux sound doesn't work with Franco and Franco refuses to add speaker gain because...well I have my opinions about him, just leave it at that.

I bought the Faux Sound app' and it did increase the volume, but I kind of wished I would have waited. V4A works phenomenally on my 7. I've ran it in stock rooted and a couple different ROMs. It gives a great increase and the sound quality is great. Perfect fix IMO. I've only used it for increasing the speaker volume, and have not tested on headphones of Bluetooth' by it's free, and works better than any paid app I've bought. No disrespect to the dev of the Faux Sound app. It does what it says, and I'm happy to pay to support an excellent developer.

[Q] Infamous S4 question regarding audio mod

Hey I've been searching for a while for Beats that can work with the infamous s4 Rom . I had ver 3.6 that came with the beats mod but when updating to ver 7 the audio mod was changed to Viper4android .
Does anyone know a link to a beats mod that works with infamous s4 7.0 or the one that was used in ver 3.6 . Personally hate viper4android , sound is so different for me, can't feel the bass in my headphones but can hear bass interfering with the music sound and also all my music is low volume compared to ver 3.6.
I've found some beats mods but after flashing I'd either get constant reboots or just doesn't work.
You can always pull it from one of his older versions

Extracted it and tried to use the PC to replace the files BUT i cant access my system root. Then tried using Rom Toolbox Pro to replace the files in system but it'll just add the files as a copy and not replace the original files with the new ones =\
When you extract it you have to pull the apk and the libs for it . And then before you push it to system using file explorer you need to set your read write permission s .and it should look like this rwrr

Completely stock Note 2 - Best option for audio?

Hi all.
I have a note 2 which is on the latest official 4.3. Phone hasn't been rooted or anything as i'm a bit of a novice so haven't had a chance to mess around with all of that yet.
The phone is great and I've moved over from an Xperia Z which I just couldn't get on with. However, there is one thing the XZ excels in which the note doesn't appear to (at least out of the box anyway) and thats music.
The XZ had a media played with ClearAudio+ and it made all of my music sound absolutely amazing. I've downloaded a few apps off the store such as playerpro etc but none of them even come close to replicating the sound of the XZ.
My question is, is there an app anywhere or anything I can do to get my Note 2 to sound anything like the XZ?
Hello! I would recommend using PowerAmp. The trial version is available on play store. Unfortunately, for the full version, you must pay. But i'd say it's worth a try.
First root, you can have better sound quality than XZ. Just need to flash a small file and install one apk. Root first then...

Yeah I rooted the device yesterday, then went about flashing the Walkman zips from this site but that didnt work. I just got force closes on everything I tried to open. I then tried to flash the Acid Audio stuff and again, everything force closed on me when trying to open it. Eventually I gave up and flashed the Xperia Z Rom that is on here with a mixture of Note 2 and Note 3 improvements thrown in as well and that worked a treat so now I can finally enjoy Clear Audio + again
Viper4Android ftw! The sheer number of options to tweak the sound to your liking may seem overwhelming at first, but once you get used to it, its absolutely amazing! Works perfectly fine on any rooted stock rom. Check with your rom though, it may break the ClearAudio+ functionality.
