Sorry if this has been answered before, but I've tried the methods of flashing droidboot, boot from the stockrom before flashing, and also altering the updater-script before flashing, but nothing works
how do i reflash to stock rom? I'm om CM 13 at the moment

download stock rom on asus website (check your version)
copy stock rom to adb folder.
reboot to recovery. if you use twrp. go advanced. adb sideload
connect with pc

you forgot to flash system.img," fastboot flash system system.img", after that execute the following commands: “fastboot format userdata” and “fastboot format cache”

I found that if you are on CM and using TWRP, you can flash stock by simply wiping caches and data (not system), installing Prism Barebone, and then installing the stock firmware zip over that. A little time-consuming having to do the two installs, but very simple and you don't need to piss about changing to stock recovery (so you can do it all on-device, no need for hooking up to a PC).

Hi,
I have test the TW stock rom, it's fine that you can't decompression this special zip file.
And I found another way to update this RUU into the Butterfly3.
The system will check the file "0PL2IMG.zip" from ext-SD everytime you boot into download mode(Pow+Vol down), so i change
the stock Rom's name and put it to the root of my EXT SD card, then boot your phone into download mode again, it will show up
some words at the bottom of the screen asking you whether to update the system or not.
Be sure you have done the "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition" at recovery mode before you do this.
Enjoy~

I have successfully flashed the TW rom from the original link shared by Gixermouse and mrquyen1993. The zip file does give the error but it is meant to be that way (as mentioned by seaturtleSTO).. However, I was still getting errors when trying to flash it on using power + vol down and then vol up.. I had to change the MID of the phone first to 0PL220000 ("command: fastboot oem writemid 0PL220000" in fastboot mode through cmd). I had to then format my external SD card to match byte size of 4096 (initially it was 32Kbytes) NOTE: IF THIS IS NOT DONE THEN YOU CAN'T COPY THE FILE AS IT IS (IN WINDOWS) AND CANNOT FLASH. THE BYTE SIZE HAS TO BE 4096.
After this I copied the file again to ext SD card and flashed it through power + vol down and then vol up. It worked this time !
After the above I followed the guide provided by mrquyen1993 to install the OTA of Marshmallow 6.0 (https://htchtv31.wordpress.com/2016...hat-android-6-0-1-dai-loan-cho-htc-b3-htv-31/). You have to change the CID of the phone to HTC__621 (fastboot oem writecid HTC__621) to successfully download and install Marshmallow.
Thanks everyone for the help and I hope what I have mentioned above will be helpful to others!
NOTE: I have S-OFF only with no bootloader unlocked, no root and no TWRP installed. This works for stock phones but needs S-OFF I assume.

You don't extract file rom by rar because it was embedded certificates HTC.
You can install using adb or hboot
Hi,
Can I install these ROMs using the TWRP restore function? Or install?

I think this only happened because you went from a KDDI ROM to a Taiwan one (which wouldn't work with the wrong CID).
I went from an older KDDI ROM to this one and I didn't need to do anything but the confirmation after download mode.
As for the SD Card, I didn't need to do anything either. I had it formated in exFAT and it just worked.

I suppose you are using system.img downloaded from web.
That image has given many that same error.
Best to use your system.img.
And the error flashing twrp, is common when using the nougat command or nougat recovery on Oreo.
Solutions.
Find your firmware on pro-teammt
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=Bnd-&firmware_page=0
Then download update.zip
Extract files.
Get hauwei update extractor.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw0xkKEyI85nY9x4Fjr1AWJl
Extract the system.img
Then fastboot flash it.
Recovery:
Oreo command== fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_ramdisk
Twrp name depends on version used. I use build 4 from here

yes there is a bug either in the extractor or the update files. they all do it. Go to the settings tab and take check mark off verify header.

I flashed the system.img but now the phone bootloops. It could be possible I got the wrong system.img because I don't know exactly what firmware my phone was on before I messed up. I only know it was EMUI8. Is there a way to completely reflash everything?

Yes. I have guide thread here for that.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7x/how-to/guide-honor-7x-flash-oreo-update-t3781649
But also wipe in factory reset from stock recovery may solve the bootloop.

I tried rebooting to stock recovery in order to factory reset but it only shows me the update, power off and reboot options so no factory reset possibility. I read through the entire thread you linked here but I'm very confused as to what to do with the full OTA file. I'm on a broken EMUI8 that bootloops and I'd like to clean flash EMUI8 again so I can flash an AOSP Oreo rom after that. What do I do?

Just made updates to guide last night. I think it is worded simple now.
Download my update "package" from step E
Extract it to a folder on your PC.
You are on emui8, so copy the HWOTA folder from the extracted zip to your sdcard
Also put hwota-update-7-8-auto.zip on sdcard.
Put the three (3) update files from pro-teammt.ru in the HWOTA8 folder on your sdcard
Put card into phone
Boot into twrp
Select install
Choose sdcard as source
Install hwota-update-7-8-auto.zip

So far so good but the FULLOTA update file I got from that website only has one file (update.zip) Do I need to extract that? And if so, what 3 files do I put on my sdcard?

No do not extract it.
On that site, next to link for update file, is "file list"
Click this. It gives links for all three files.
Put those three zip files into hwota folder

Alright, I got it! Now I need to flash TWRP but the executable to install TWRP says my adb drivers are outdated. I have the minimal fastboot and adb installation from XDA.

That should be fine.
Usually means you have other adb also , probably from other tool.
If you have twrp , not need to use the terp recovery installer

Well the problem is I don't have TWRP and none of the versions i've tried to install work. The installer doesn't work either, it says closing adb daemon and stays on that.

Dude, you're the man! I got my device up and running again. I'll probably stay on EMUI8 since it's more stable than the current AOSP rom. I wanna root it tho so can I just use the lazy recovery tool to install twrp and simply install magisk?

[OP7T] Tool to root your device without patched boot.img

Hey guys, because there is unfortunately no fully working TWRP yet and lack of magisk patched boot.img for each rom, i decided to make a script to make things easier.
This script is based on the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81277507&postcount=613 from @gpz1100, which is based on thread [GUIDE] How to Root OnePlus 7T without TWRP by @mauronofrio
What does it do?
The script pull the boot image from your actual system and copy it to your PC.
Then you have to copy the boot image back to your device and patch it with Magisk Manager.
To prevent problems and bootloops the script will boot the patched image first, if anything went well the script will flash it subsequently.
Requirements:
unlocked bootloader
ADB/Fastboot installed
latest TWRP from here
Make sure the .bat and twrp image are in your adb/fastboot folder!!
How to use?
Download the .bat file, place it into your ADB/Fastboot directory and start it.
If windows shows a warning, then just click on "more informations" and then "run anyway".
If you trust me, dont trust the internet and check hash sum MD5 after downloading the file with:
Code:
CertUtil -hashfile <filename> MD5
MD5 checksum is: 303f338c32841ac752d24647ec6ede14
If you dont trust me there are several options:
Use the guide from https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=81277507&postcount=613 from @gpz1100 and do it yourself
or use any guide from [GUIDE] How to Root OnePlus 7T without TWRP by @mauronofrio
check the code on github here
If you run into problems/errors:
Be sure the .bat file is located where adb.exe and fastboot.exe is
If you need urgent root, than follow the guide mentioned above
Be patient, i try to fix the problem as soon as possible
Only tested on Oneplus 7T with OxygenOS
Download from: google drive or from github

Will I still be rooted if I take an OTA update?
---------- Post added at 01:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:57 PM ----------
Also at one point your after trying to pull the boot image from the phone the script says:
## checking for adb devices..
## device still not in custom recovery, retrying...
Yet the phone restarts. The script retries about 4 times then fails. I think at whatever set in the script before that occurs, it needs to fastboot into recovery rather than do a normal restart.

No. After ota you won't have root. But after installation of ota don't reboot and do this:
1. Open magisk manager
2. Install --> install after ota
3. Reboot.
Now you have updated system with root.

oh sorry i missed the second question,
the script should boot your phone into twrp recovery, where it get's adb access to pull the boot.img. Do you named the twrp img to TWRP.img?
Yeah it was named TWRP.img but I actually had another problem going on with my device that I believe was causing this. Got it all fixed using that back to root/unbrick Msm.exe tool that someone else posted
Worked flawlessly, got a little bit lost when the prompt about magisk came out then realised that I needed to copy files over, patch on the phone with the Magisk Manager app then copy files over again.
But once that's sorted, it worked with no issues
Noob question but the flash of the modified boot.img would be a clean flash or a flash over the existing one, asking cause I haven't rooted a device and was wondering if this would erase all of my apps and existing settings?

Flashing boot.img won't wipe your data. But unlocking the bootloader will reset your phone.

Yes, just make sure you install into INACTIVE slot after OTA, if you havent rebooted yet.
I believe one problem exists with twrp (possibly depending on the version) ... when the script tries to download the stock image, TWRP wants confirmation for write access. Unless I confirm that, the download doesn't succeed. Once confirmed, the same adb line in the script entered manually then works ...
I bought a phone advertised as factory unlocked. It has no carrier branding. It turns out to be a model HD1907, which in Wikipedia shows as T-Mobile.
I installed the OnePlus USB drivers from the phone.
I used the original cable.
In Developer Options I had set Advanced Reboot on and USB Debugging on. I tried OEM Unlocking on and off just to try.
I am getting a failure at the boot to TWRP step. The fastboot error, which I tried manually as well, is:
FAILED (remote: 'boot is not allowed in Lock State')
On the fastboot screen I do see the message:
DEVICE STATE - locked
Am I going to need to go through a bootloader unlocking process like this?
