The G3 winds hands down and thats makes me frustrated. I'm a hard snapchat user and I love take photos but this quality is unacceptable. The G4 photos are pixelated and oversharpened. The G3 photos are much better, look for yourself.

Since MM the quality on snapchat photos dropped really hard. I can confirm that. Front Facing camera is even worse. Waiting for a fix too. Don`t know what could caused that :c

I know, the photos are even worse, indeed I downgraded today from MM to LP and then I compared the results with the photo I took with the G3 and the photos suks on the G4. I reported that to LG, hope they read the mail at least.

But the photos you are comparing are taken with snapchat, right? Because the camera app does better with lg g4 than G3, right?
So maybe you should write n email to snapchat, because it seems that only snapchat can`t handle the G4`s camera while on MM for some reason. (that`s how i feel)^^

Yes the photos are taken with snapchat and no, it's not a snapchat problem, it's an LG fault here. Snapchat doesnt actually take a photo using the camera, it just take a screenshot of the viewfinder and thats all. The problem is that the G4 viewfinder for some reason is displayed at a lower resolution I think, thats why the photos just are not good as other phones. So basically I'm looking for a way to get the viewfinder at 2560x1440 "I think that's the resolution", now I think is set to 720p or something like that.
And thats valid for LP and MM unfortunatelly

I think is more hard than I thought, it's LG that need to modify the drivers to make it look good, so ya I think is hopeless unless they notice this by themself and fix the problem wich is not that hard to fix. But LG is soo slow and they dont care.
On rooted devices changing the model number solves all snapchat issues.
U need root + build.prop app

Well, the resolution may be a result of the "Game optimizer" on the Battery & Power saving settings. I believe this setting was indeed made to make apps run at a lower resolution to save battery.

Recently I got Snapchat and Instagram, when I use their built in camera, the quality is severely reduced. It looks like a 5 MP camera. But using stock camera app (or any camera app) the quality is great. The problem is with apps that do more than take pictures.. Here's two photos so you get an idea. Anyone else have these issues or know a fix?
I haven't noticed any particular image quality problems on my G3 with those apps. I do know that Snapchat saves images in same resolution as your screen, so in the G3's case: 2560x1440

I don't know if you can see from the pictures, but I don't get anywhere near that, or HD for that matter. You wouldn't happen to know a fix?
Instagram reduces filesize, so, they probably do this directly from the camera app.

I'm aware all apps reduce file size, but the images I capture are no where near up to par to a decent standard. The image quality with Snapchat on my HTC M8 was great, but on the G3 it's horrible
I'm having the same problem you are. I reinstalled Snapchat and the problem was still there. I even tried a camera mod (tweaks media_profiles) to no avail. It's a frustrating problem especially when I see my friends' high quality snapchat pictures and while mine are blurry.
Solution!
I finally figured out what was causing this, it somehow just came to me. All you have to do is hide the navigation bar in Snapchat (or any other app you're experiencing this in) and viola, clear pictures! Go to settings->display->home touch buttons. Hope this helps!

So it just looked blurry on your end until you removed the nav bar and on others' phones it looked fine even before your fix?
No it would be blurry to the people I snapchatted as well. I think it has to do with the fact that snapchat captures the image as a "screenshot" of what appears on the screen rather than the raw image from the camera.

I had that "not saving" pictures problem, I ended up "resetting" the whole phone and the problem solved
Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Moto E4 Plus come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I'm not a big user of phone cameras. I never use any settings. I just open it, take a picture, and move on. If I can take a picture of what I want, and tell what it is later, and be able to enjoy looking at it, I'm happy. This camera does it's job well. No complaints.
I'm ugly, but I took this with the e4 on lineage.

Hi,
I have same problem with poor quality pictures and discovered and installed a new app from PlayStore. It is about FreeDCam and for me it makes a huge difference when taking pictures.
Also may be opened with double click on Power button.

Hi. I have this phone. It is from a family member. I've updated it to version 113. I've rooted it. all good. but in the rear camera, the maximum resolution is 5mpx. and in the front chamber, the maximum resolution: 13mpx.
that is, the reverse of what it should be. and in addition, the photos with the rear camera are out of focus.
I will try to go back to the rom stock, because before rooting and unlocking bootloader, it was fine.
Hello,
I just received my Oneplus 5T and noticed that while using snapchat the camera view seems to be heavily zoomed in. I wonder if there is a fix for this as it makes taking pictures more difficult and pretty annoying.
Thanks.
same issue here
Same here, what a craptastic app.
This issue was also in a community forum, a oneplus member said it would be fixed in a software update/it's a bug with oxygen os. I think it's due to the 18:9 aspect ratio, go to the camera app and select that ratio and it just zooms in on the 4:3. I think the same is happening with snapchat.
Yep. I've also reported it to Snapchat as well. (shrug).

Also noticed it happens in Instagram. Maybe I owe a snapchat an apology.
Snapchat and all other 3rd party camera apps are using 18:9 camera ratio and apparently Oxygen OS Camera isn't optimised well for the 18:9 ratio. It just zooms and crops in the pic. Try changing the ratio from 4:3 to 18:9 in the default camera app, you will get same result as Snapchat, both in front as well as rear camera. This is a major system bug in Oxygen OS.
OnePlus has said that they're releasing an update in early December that will bring major improvements to the camera. Hope that update fixes this issue too otherwise this is a major deal breaker.
Another camera disappointment by OnePlus.

Hi, I noticed that android phones have a tendency to lag whenever a snapchat video is taken. It can be seen particularly when an iPhone is used to view the android's snap. I was wondering if this is the same if the video is taken by a oneplus 5t?
Such an annoying bug! Absolutely hate this bug. I hold the phone so far away yet it's as though I'm holding the phone right near my face

The real reason Snapchat photos taken on Android phones look terrible
Android phones often have similar or better cameras than iPhones. But on Snapchat, it’s not even close. Here's why.

It says snapchat but it's actually true for instagram and whatsapp as well

I don't know exactly why that happens.. maybe it's a compatibility issue.
But the solution to that is: you have to take the pictures with your standard camera app, then upload it to Instagram. This way you will preserve your picture quality. ♥

idk if its new to you but taking pictures from third party apps (whatsapp, office, facebook etc...) always end up crappier than the camera app
Its actually because these apps compress image thats why, No worry.
