Hello XDA,
So I am currently running the NexusMOD (v3.8 Beta) Rom by goldfingerfif and have no complaint as to the roms stability it is perfectly usable as a daily driver. The only bugs I can say really annoyed me where the call echo (Which everyone’s custom rom had until the patch by yaldak was released) and not having the native option to WIfi/USB tether (But by just installing “Wifi Hotspot Pro” from the Play Store you have a simple work around) but both of those issues have been fixed in one way or another. So my question for you guys is What ICS rom do you currently use and why ? Does your particular rom have any additional features that other ICS roms do not? Does your current rom have a theme that you absolutely love ? Is it the Speed? Performance? Support? I would love to hear your feedback on this as I am satisfied with my current rom but may be missing out on the features of another and yes I am aware I can flash other roms and determine this for myself but come on guys creating backups and setting up your device just how you like it when you flash a new rom can be a pain in the butt the 4 time you do it.
Thank You,
You should never ask that question on here!!!!

The best ROM is the one that works best for you on your phone. Read, read, then read some more, understand what you're doing, then try them out one by one.
hi all,
I bought my one x today!!

You will learn a lot reading the forum A lot of threads have sticky topics, that answer most of the questions you might get, pretty well.
One thing is certain - you will love the phone! The only downside for me is the batterylife, then again, most smartphones don't have great battery life.

Basically, the two different types of Rome are sense based (stock Rom with different modifications) and the aosp roms (built from sources, like cyanogen or aokp).you will find first type in android development forum, the aosp roms and kernels in the original development forum.
While sense roms are much better on things, that are connected to hardware, like battery life, sound quality, camera quality, the aosp roms are smoother (although with jelly bean sense roms, this is arguable) and deliver stock android exporience like nexus.
Now, the siuation with sense roms: since jb was leaked, the main ones are based on the leaks, but you can only flash them with newest hboot (bootlader). And this one you can only flash having the right cid (your location number, the European unlocked and Taiwanese are the only right ones for new hboot)

Firstly , welcome to the One X forum of xda !
I'll start from the basics as you asked .
If you want to flash custom ROMs , you'll have to unlock bootloader , root and flash custom recovery ( CWM or TWRP ) . Due to unknown reasons , HTC is not giving us One X users S-Off bootloader which unlocks a lot of features . But also , it's not much of a restriction if you're used to it . You can follow these 2 noob-proof videos if you want to root your phone .
Please read the quote I'm going to write below as it clarifies the reply of Zlotin's a lot .

There are four types of different ROMs which are Sense-based ( obviously you know what it is already ) , AOSP ( Android Open Source Project ) this ROM will give you the complete experience of android , AOKP ( Android Open Kang Project ) this ROM is much likely same as AOSP but it has more custom features and lastly the MIUI ( Mobile Internet/Mission Impossible User Interface ) this ROM is completely by itself , it gives you a ... kinda iOS UI and other custom features of its own . You can find all these ROMs in both android development and original android development forums . The different between these both forums is that Original means just that...originally built not just themed or apps changed or a few add-ons or tweaks. So there would be the original AOKP release, the official CM releases, original MIUI release, first and only first deodexed stock ROM, and kernels with full source link posted. Anything else is regular developement. The Original Development is to give added recognition to full real developers putting together actual code, not winzipping things together. Now the JB-Sense ROMs are final-versions which are not leaks as Zlotin said . But to flash JB-Sense ROMs , you need to have updated hboot version which is restricted by CIDs . Currently , only Taiwan have the officially released hboot as they have received they JB through OTA . The European ones are leaks not official but still usable .

Aha! New here too and I was wondering about that, thought it was AOSP vs sense then saw a sense version in there .. then I thought its just because theres so much development one forum isnt enough! -which is true too i guess. Anyway its amazing to see so much happening here after the sad story of official support which hurt development for my Atrix so much.
thank you very much guys you've been very helpful and nice i'm glad to join this community, and if ill have further question ill ask

welcome, sorry to be such a bastard but this is not the right section
--- I did search but due to ever changing builds and time required to test roms for bugs I need up to date info ---
Hi, I got my Xperia S few days ago and I was planning to use Galaxy S+ as a main phone until a decent 4.2.2 rom will come out but now S+ goes to someone else in a family and I'll be left with Xperia S only.
I tried few 4.2.2 roms in a free time but now I need to get my phone up and running for daily use (which requires all or most functionality). As I have not enough time to try and test all of them I kindly ask you to recommend most stable and functional rom. If it based on stock or aosp/cm 4.1.2 I don't care but if I could choose from many I would prefer clean/vanilla/non-themed rom. I don't care about 'extreme' 'ultra' 'blazing fast' too if it comes in exchange for wifi router or bugfree camera. Or should I go back to original .200/.211 firmware?
Please advise as I can't afford time for flashing roms until I find a good one.
Thank you for understanding my situation.
try this
i dont quite know what your looking for but i suggest you look at this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950706
I suggest cyanogen mod rom or Aokp for no bugs, if not that FLASH a stock rom and wait for the next update for the XS that "Tackles all the bugs"
I'd say go for stock based ROM's which have small app, walkman, BE and where everything works... This is my favourite one
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266993
If you really want vanilla android, go for PAC ROM. It combines features from Paranoid Android, CM and AOKP, plus most of it works, but it doesn't have a great battery life...
I do know about this rom list and I would test them all but as I said I have no time for that and I need -fully- working and solid rom without force closes, obvious bugs etc. as soon as possible for everyday work.
Someone recommended eXistenZ rom before and I will try that for next couple of days and if that will be a disappointment I will roll back to stock .200 until further development results.
I tried PAC 4.2.2 and it's really messed up/not ready for daily use. I have a bad feeling about roms that use various sources stitched up together. On previous phones I only liked pure AOSP or CM as they were most solid.
Please add more opinions or tell me that something I'm looking for does not exist yet I had been waiting for fully working roms for a long time before. Let's hope it's a different story with this device
stock will always be the most stable since it has all official drivers
now, if you wanna ask about which custom rom is better, you'll always receive a biased opinion due to user preferences..just go ahead and flash one so you'll get a feel for them
my search for good custom rom comes from experience with Samsung Galaxy S+ where stock roms are garbage, bloated, ugly and bugged even more than stock .200 for Xperia S but after some waiting smart devs came up with 99% perfect 4.0.4 and 4.2.2 based on AOSP and CM - without official support from those projects.
I was hoping that development for Xperia S will be more advanced since it's more mainstream phone rather than 'let's give original Samsung S some experimental hardware upgrades and leave it behind because we have more popular phones to worry about'. I'm sure it's just a matter of time (and just another driver fix from Sony) when our devs will release perfect working rom.

You could try pac 19.3 a 4.1.2 rom

Hello everybody, I will start building Custom Roms in the next few days.
Which one I'm building I don't know yet, I'll try a few to build.
So be curious and wait for new info
Greetings kevte89
Hi @kevte89. I Would love PixelExperience ported to Mi 8 Pro.
Ideally, I would love to have customisations made to Phhusson's GSI ROM to get the non-working bits for equuleus working. (Fingerprint sensor, VoLTE most importantly). Then other GSI ROM developers would be able to integrate those patches to their ROM to instantly give us a good choice of ROMs.
Maybe that could give you some ideas, but a custom MIUI ROM is probably not what most are looking for.... I'm looking for more stock based ROMs to get away from MIUI.
By the way... did you get started yet and do you need any help testing? You can reach out to me in a PM... I have professional software testing experience that may be of benefit.
I have a question about this idea.
Xiaomi.eu team dropped support for the Redmi Note 8 Pro due to issues with bricking that can’t be easily recovered from.
But, we now have cfw antibrick system, does anyone know or by any chance have a way to make miui roma based on chinese weekly beta.
On GitHub we have Multilang project to compile inside rom.
Maybe some one know ingbrzy from xiaomi forum, asking him for tree and other advanced stuff which he adds to roms for other types of phones.
I know we have custom roms, but i like stock miui rom.
Any help is welcome, if necessary and someone knows the necessary things for making roma, and does not want to say publicly, he can call me at pm, to make it for myself even if I make a hard brick of my cell phone.
cheers.
i have same question , but the real question is , is it worth it? i mean we all left miui for same reason basic things are bad no nav bar ram management doesn't exist on miui stock compared to samsung m31 great stock one ui , and after all custom roms try to give you the pixel feeling which is imo better than any isheep phone out there , i hope if someone is able to do something like that , unofficial miui rom wouldn't be as reliable as official miui 12 and will take effort to port and get it customized for us.

If you see forum with relased miui 12 for not so small list of phones, and very big list of "ROMs features (Whats not in Global)", i think yes. It worth it.
It was the same rom for our model with all those extras, so if it continued, we would have a weekly update, but there were a lot of hard bricks so they gave up on further release.
That's why I asked, now we have a cfw antibrick system so we're safe.
