Stylus apps for Cyanogenmod ROM - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I have installed Cyanogenmod ROM 12.1 (official) on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 (SM-T800) and I would like use stylus for writing notes. Is there possibility to install original s note apk and handwriting keyboard? Or is there some special apk for using stylus on my tablet? Thank you!

Our screens are capacitive; which means we can only use the type of stylus with a rubber tip. Our keyboard does offer handwriting as an input and there are stylus' out there with small tips for precision; but if you are wanting to write on-screen like the Note lineup of devices, then you're out of luck. Our devices do not support that and no app will give us that feature. It's a matter of hardware limitations.

[Q] Samsung stock keyboard

So my keyboard of preference is the stock samsung 3x4 pad thats comes with the s2. But it seems less and less roms are carrying this keyboard. Does anyone know where to download it, or how I can just save the one that the stock phone uses and transfer it to a new rom. I'm a fan of trying out all the new roms, but not having the 3x4 pad is keeping me running stock.
Thanks!
The keyboard that comes with Swype Beta seems very similar to me to the stock Samsung keyboard which, I agree with you, is much better than the Android keyboard. You can use it without actually "Swyping" if that's your preference. (It also comes with a great voice recognition system.) It's available (for free) at: beta.swype.com

[Q] S-Pen detection on non Touchwiz ROMs

Hey
I have paranoid android installed on my note 2 and I'm incredibly happy with it. One thing I miss from touchwiz is the S-Pen integration.
In particular when writing in an app like papyrus or lecture notes it won't disable finger input when using the s-pen. Lecture notes detects the pen and hover works fine but as soon as a finger touches the screen then the s-pen is disabled. It makes writing quite difficult because you can't rest your hand on the screen.
Does anyone know a way around this? Or a fix that can be applied to a non touchwiz based ROM like paranoid android?
Cheers

I don't think it possible, at least for now. From what I read, S-Pen features needs Touchwiz framework, so as long as it's non-Samsung rom, no luck. I'm also using PA (3+).
Ah that's a shame. Thanks for that. The benefits of PA far outweigh these little things though.

Handwriting Issues

I'm having problems with the handwriting on my Note 10.1 (P-600 rooted). When using the handwriting, sometimes the word recognition font is huge causing me to over-write the word and cause errors. Other time the font is the normal size and all is well. This behavior is not predictable. It happens no matter what applications I'm using. The behavior is the same using either the included s-pen or my Bamboo Feel. Samsung customer support had me factory reset the device and that didn't help at all. Has anyone else had this issue and can give me some insight?

Just downloaded it and it seems like just what I need. My only use for the Sammy KB was the handwriting. I use Swype any other time. Thanks for telling me about it! This app also solves the problem of the Sammy KB constantly switching back to the touch keypad when I press the enter key!! This looks like an all around winner for heavy s-pen users like me.
I'd recommend using SPenBoard Switcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46236231), to have Stylus beta with S Pen and any other keyboard without.

The only problem with that is that I never use the included s-pen. I purchased a Bamboo feel for my first generation Note 10.1 and I still use it on my new Note 10.1 with no problem. I think I have only used the included spen 3 times.

[Q] Galaxy Note II Emojis

Good day.
So, I have a Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100). It is not locked to any operator and it has stock Android 4.3 installed via Kies a few days ago. I heard that there should be support for emojis in this Android version. My gf has a Galaxy S4 with Android 4.3 and she has the iWnn keyboard with all the colored emojis. When I try to find that keyboard on my Note II I can't. There is no keyb with that name. I can see some emojis in apps and messages but no color and no posibility to type emoji without using Google keyboard (installed as an APK). The Google keyboard has only a few emojis.
How come everyone else with a Note II has this iWnn keyboard installed but not my phone? If it was locket to an operator I would understand, but since it's bought not locked to an operator I don't. Could anyone help me with this?
And also, how come the S4 range has the colored emojis and not the Note II/other models? Isn't the version of Android the same?

Coloured emoji support came from 4.4 as afaik..!

S4 is newer than Note 2 after all. (And both phones aren't stock android after all) so Samsung can still stuff new stuff into the s4, so download a third party keyboard (I use go keyboard) or grab the apk from your girlfriend's phone and hope it works on your note 2.
Smack that thanks button If I helped!

Well, I didn't have time for that, however I will try it some day. Thanks to all for the tip.
Instead I got myself a SM-N9005 (Note 3). And, if possible, I love this more than the Note 2! :cyclops:

LineageOS 14.1 and s-pen compatibility

Hi.
I intend to flash my girlfriend's N5110 to LineageOS. However, she is just very fond of the S-Pen, it is also very useful since she uses a lot of Japanese input (she uses MyScript Stylus Beta).
Now, will the S-Pen still work with the most recent release? I've spent quite some time searching on the net but couldn't find a definite answer. I understand that all the Samsung apps, which are based on TouchWiz, will not work. But the question remains, will the S-Pen input itself work with less options available, with less "comfort" so to speak, or will it not work at all?
Some hints would be greatly appreciated!
Would like to know too. I did find an app that works well in the Play Store.. search for "Squid" - Take Notes & Markup PDFs...

Spen works very well with LOS 14.1
If you use stylus beta you can easily switch between keyboard input and stylus based handwriting input. Sketchbook, lecture notes or similar apps also work fine with direct stylus input.

I'm also struggling to find the answer on if the Spen will still work with PEN.up (Stock Samsung App) if I update gf's Note 8.0 to LineageOS?
Anyone know for sure?
can anyone post a link to lineageOS so I can flash please?
