I had the same error when I used the newest FlashTool. Though I use Linux mint, I guess this should work for you too.
Download FlashTool 0.9.18.1 ( I can't post links yet... ) and try again.
If it doesn't work, you can search for even older versions of FlashTool.
If it still does the same, make sure you download the proper FTF from these forums (I used the 4.0.2.A.0.69_World.ftf)
Hope this helps.

Hello, I tried installing this firmware to my Xperia Play http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398 and using the latest flashtool, but it got stuck at 13% installing the system.sin file for 20 min, so when i unplugged it to re-flash it, my phone would get to the Sony Ericsson logo then a picture of a triangle with an exclamation point and a phone pops up then the phone shuts off. I did some research to try and see what is wrong, I read people were having problems with the latest flashtool so I downloaded the earlier version, 6.9 I believe, and tried to re flash the firmware from above, now it gets stuck at 14% and wont install. Any suggestions??? Any help would be appreciated!
c'mon guys, nothing? 150+ views and no one has a suggestion?

Hi everybody,
yesterday I tried installing zohaib00010's Xperia S rom v7 on my arc and I'm stuck on the first step. I tried flashing LT18_4.1.A.0.562_NCB.ftf as it is a base rom for that custom rom but during flashing with flashtool I got this message:
25/016/2012 10:16:49 - INFO - Flashing system.sin
25/019/2012 10:19:07 - INFO - Ending flash session
25/019/2012 10:19:07 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="MEMORY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="HASH_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Final data verification failed";
Now my phone won't boot up, when I try turning it on there's an image of a phone next to road sign with exclamation mark on it.
I tried another version of that firmware but it's same... I noticed that my windows 7 always installs SEMC drivers from windows update and somehow doesn't recognize original flashtool drivers.
If any of you guys have any ideas please help. :-\

Xperia Arc
4.0.4/4.1.B.0.587
Bootloader Unlocked and Rooted
Guys, tried installing a custom Rom Omega on the 3rd.Nov,a couple of days ago.Followed every word the OP on how to install.Aroma popped up and made some choices and then rebooted into recovery. When phone switched back on only the SONY logo was there and it kept on repeating.Made some enquiries from members. Was advised to flash original firmware which I did. When the phone booted up,this time SONY XPERIA and kept on repeating.Been all over the place searching for a way to overcome this problem.
Came across an article on google:Recovering dead/bricked phone xperia arc -in that article there is mention of taking the generic global 4.1.B.0.587.zip file and extracting it to a .tft file and flashing it onto the device. This I am unsure of as I have never come across a .tft file.I've been unable to go into the main screen to make any changes to enable USB Debugging,Unknown Sources and MSC Mode if need be to flash again because when I tried doing it again the process aborted.Even tried to Relock bootloader so that SUS or PCCompanion would recognize the device
so that I can be able to get out of this mess I created.Unable to find a solution.Need urgent assistance.
You have to download the .ftf file (it's in the zip) on to your computer and flash it by using a tool called Flashtool.
Also flash stock kernel back or advanced stock kernel.

try this tuto it worked for me, same case as mine before, always make a back up at CWM before doing anything

3/027/2013 19:27:42 - INFO - Ending flash session
13/027/2013 19:27:42 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_STATIC="SIN_HEAD_VER";ERR_DYNAMIC="Failed to verify sin header";
Any ideia?
You guys are beautiful!
I had an old Xperia S stuck on the Sony logo and was able to recover it. So I decided to document here what worked for me. Maybe it can help the next one which may have a similar problem.
What finally worked for me was begin by uninstalling everything: PC Companion / Flashtool / sa0103 drivers I installed via Device Manager / etc...
- Then I installed Flashtool 0.9.18.6.
- After that I disabled the driver enforcement via the Advanced Startup method. Command line method I did before did not work.
- Installed the drivers from Flashtool. I checked Flashmode / Fastboot and all Xperia S I could find
- Then I was able to flash the 6.2.B.1.96 rom I found somewhere. I tried a 6.1.A.2.55 that I downloaded but that didn't work
- After ~20 minutes it was flashed.
I don't know if the ADB driver I downloaded from Android developer website made a difference or not. What I know it made a difference was using the old Flashtool because I did this exact process with the latest version and I didn't work.
I'm attaching my last log from Flashtool so maybe you guys can compare to yours.
That's it! I spent around 3 days reading not only the Xperia S subsection here but searching for all the errors on other device's subsections.
Hope it can help someone.
Thanks a lot guys
