Hello all. Please help me. I have a v495 with root replaced by su. all was fine till I was getting ready to install the TWRP recovery. I did not even install it but I did install flashify and twrp manager approving root access but never installed/flashed the revovery img. After installing twrp manager it asked for me to select a device but did not see the v495,496 or 498 so I just exited. I restarted the device and it just sat at the at&t boot logo. again I did not install anything other than flashify and twrp manager. Anyway I panicked and searched online to reset the device thinking I could just start over. I found the directions (hold power and vol down. release power hold vol up down and power). I was able to do factory reset but now its still stuck at the a&t logo and it won't shut off.
Is there anything else I can do?
It is against XDA forum rules to post the same question in multiple threads. Please don't do this in the future. I answered you in the other (first) thread you posted about this problem.
Hi, Sorry for the duplicate post I was not aware.. I thought we just couldn't create new threads with same topic.
Anyway thanks but the waiting did not help. I installed LG Bridge and trying to do software update but I keep getting LGE MTP driver failed install errors.. Holding the up and power buttons allowed me to shut the device off and enter charge only state. Wish there was a way to reload the stock rom but I have not found any software or roms as of yet.
SOL
unfortunately for any ATT customer it is the hardest to get any firmware for any of their devices. I dont know why they feel the need to make it proprietary. I had run into the same problem and I am not getting anywhere with it. There is chinese website that says it has the stock kdz file for it but you need 5 coins or some type of BS to even look at it.
Well this socks...
I guess my car tab project will have to wait till we get some dev support. Im surprised there are so few of us seeing how these things were practically being given away at one point.

Sorry I don't have any other ideas. I feel your pain. It's a similar situation with my VK810 but at least there has been some development and TWRP was updated thankfully, plus Verizon releases the firmware.

Please could you link to the Chinese site for some of us who have no alternatives? If the site does really have the firmware I don't mind paying to get it, but be certain I will re-upload and link here. Thanks.

Probably the same as for my device. http://www.lgbbs.com:41/thread-838-1-1.html. Not willing to pay for it since I don't need it, but if you need it bad enough I think it equates to 10 U.S. dollars last I checked. Note that the one I linked to is supposed to be the one for my device, the VK810.

Thanks for the link, but I didn't find my model's firmware there - V495 AT&T... I would willingly pay to download this firmware so I can fix my issue. I rooted mine, didn't like the Kingroot su manager and changed it to SuperSU with Supersume and the tab didn't boot again. It just hangs at the LG logo, or if I leave it for long it will show the AT&T logo and that's all. I wish I never messed with it. Just brand new off ebay.

Kick me if this is too obvious, but have you tried Googling:
Code:
V495 TOT
or
Code:
V495 KDZ
?
Although I might be wrong, but I think I heard that Sprint and AT&T don't provide KDZs for LG devices.
Is it still under LG's warranty? Do you have the IMEI/serial number for it that you can try to RMA it through LG? I got excellent warranty service for my model when I needed it. Don't tell them what you tried doing to it, though.
It gets worse... From really bad to terribly worse... I searched and searched and searched for the V495 KDZ to no avail, but I saw for V490 and V496. I downloaded both. I tried with V490 and it flashed and booted but touchscreen was not responsive. I guess due to not being for the exact same version. I tried the V496 which is the same model but the T-Mobile variant. The flashing went well until around 85% when the screen went blank and although the flashing completed, the screen never came up again, yet it makes a sound when connected to the laptop. So I went into Device Manager on my laptop to see how things were, and what it was seeing it as was HSUSB DQLoader 9008 or something like that. A hard brick!!! All because I tried to root this device... Some things are better left without messing around with them... However, if there's any help I would appreciate it very much; this is a new tab, still with the cover screen unremoved...

I'm really sorry to hear about that. That sucks. Unfortunately, recovering from QHBUSB BULK 9008 mode requires a TOT file, although I've wondered if it might also work with a KDZ, but in your case you can't find either so there's really no hope.
Are you going to see if it's under warranty with LG and try to RMA it?
I guess you know this now, but never, ever flash something that's made for a different model/variant, although in your case it didn't really hurt to try since either way you were bricked.
---------- Post added at 08:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:54 AM ----------
@ezeuba, I did a variation of one of the previous searches I suggested. I Googled for:
Code:
at&t v495 tot
The second and third links look promising.

Although the "Translate this page" link next to each search result didn't work, it still translated fine for me after loading both pages the normal way.
If only there was a way to 'make' a tot file from another V495 tab's files... I got the second one now and have no intention of messing with it again. I only wonder if it were possible to 'create' a tot file one can use in unbricking the bricked one... Just a thought...

I've wondered about the same - possibility to create KDZs and TOTs out of partition image files. After all, there are tools to extract both, so although possibly more difficult, theoretically it should be possible to create both. I have no knowledge that would help look into the possibility, however.
Did you pursue any further getting to that page? I can still get to it fine.

Did you get it to translate by choosing to translate *after* loading the webpage? You should first register on the site in the upper right corner.
You probably have to buy credits using PayPal, then use those credits to buy the link to the TOT, lower on the page.
Just wanted everybody to know that you CAN downgrade your MM LG G4 for Verizon by using LGUP.
And this is how...
1). Download all The Files Below!
1) Firmware Files - Click HERE!
Or Here LGKDZ.com for your exact match KDZ for your model
2) Download LG Drivers - LG Drivers Here - 10.9 Mb
2.1)Verizon Drivers (Verizon Only)LG_VZW - 7.8 Mb
3..LGUP can be found on this website LG UP DOWNOAD
You have to sign into one of your accounts and like the page for them to open the downloads in the middle of the page.
4. install the drivers then the .msi file for LGUP. Usually there is a DLL file and the LGUP application, install the .DLL file then install LGUP.
5. First make sure that your phone is showing up on LGUP, if not make sure you have USB debugging enabled and the you are connected with MTP.
6. Find your .kdz file, and don't press start VERY IMPORTANT!!, Exit out of the application and then REOPEN LGUP and your 13b.KDZ should still be in the box at the bottom.
7. Now just press start and wait for it to do it's magic.
And now your back on LL and you can get back to rooting this phone.
And just so people know it is not possible to downgrade from LL to KK, it will brick your phone for some reason, and trust me I had to send mine back and get a knew one, nothing would get it to work again!
So that's how you get back to LL from MM, which seems to be the only way to have root at the moment...
One more thing, I was able to transfer the files for the effortless root on MM but you can't do any send_command.exe commands because it just says FAIL. but it did switch the system software from Official to Modified so it did something just not what I wanted it to do....
If there's anyone wondering why this works, it's because both the 13b and 24c kdz's both have the same qfuse number, so the bootloader accepts both without bricking. If Verizon ever puts out an update that increments the qfuse value and you take it, you won't be able to downgrade to 13b or 24c.
I have the kdz file but it wont let me put it on lgup. It's looking for a .tot file. Help would be greatly appreciated
Nevermind. Figured it out
would this work with h811

Thank you for the info! Just curious: how do you check the value of qfuse?
I did this on a Canadian variant H812 and it worked. Rooted right after and that worked too. I am a happy camper.
I loaded H81210n.
Anyone reading do note that I did not use the Verizon files above.

What you must do is tick the update and select the kdz file. Then close LGUP, open it again and select refurbish and kdz file should be there. Start the load.
This phone with L and root is perfect. No M for me until root (if it happens). Really enjoy having the changed DPI with root and no permanent notification for Priority mode.

I haven't done it just yet. And I know I'm not the smartest here. But to my knowledge yes you will lose everything. So always good to back up all your files. I've got all my photos backed up to google photos. over 5000 lol. But yeah from what I understand it's the same as doing a factory reset except instead of factory resetting back to MM you're factory resetting to LP.

Hey sorry but the www.lgkdz.com doesn't work. Is there another site we can find all lg firmware to downgrade for our exact lg variant match....
From OP second 1), try : http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G4/
or check the XDA G4 section for your variant.
Thank you for your response. I did actually download the H812 kdz from storagecow however when I put it in the LGUP tool it read as an error in the tot file. I'm not sure what happened or where I went wrong. I'm so confused at this point and without my G4 being unuseable at this time. I also wanted to ask if the kdz you directed me to are in fact the file I need to go back to LP from MM?
Hi All,
I sent my Nexus 5x for repair and they gave me an option of "reparing ($77)" and refurbishing" $190".
I'm comfortable with ADB, fastboot and all that jazz so I thought I'll just get it repaired.
Well , I turn on the phone and I greeted with the go to go.c/ABH page
Then it loads some "miniOS" and ends in an all orange screen saying WARNING Not supported QEM = 0
And that is where it is stuck.
NEVER seen this before in my life.
So I get into boot loader.
FAST boot is locked the OEM unlock command doesn't work - FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed)
Next thing I try.
Open recovery, start adb, get myself the latest OTA from google side, side load it.
SIGNATURE FAILED.
I tried EVERY single OTA file on the site and all failed.
So I'm stumped... Any advice or insight is greatly appreciated.

These LG problems are not 1 in every 10,000 handsets there selling dodgy phone's knowingly and expecting the customers to sit by and get ripped off they have just lost a lawsuit for the g4 and v10 handsets and instead of everyone allowing it we need to jointly stand together from all over the world and do something collectively and kick up a stink until we make enough noise they end up in court again if they don't give us refunds. If you're not interested in this it's going to be harder for the people who want to get something done about it
Just flash kdz or tot
I seen minios several time after i flash tot and unplug it before.

KDZ is LG Phone firmware image
Can be flash by lg flash tool.
Usually use in LG phone that lg published own firmware version.
In Nexus Google usually published firmware so as you can see flash via fastboot.
TOT is lg factory firmware image

I'm going to be using the 32GB TOT and then reverting back to stock 16gb Google OTA.

Hi guys
Recently i bought my girlfriend LG G4. Now I think it's from Singapore, and I totally have no idea, how to update it. I have 5.1 now, and of course I wanna 6.0. Using automatic option from smartphone still showing "up to date". LG bridge is finding some firmware, but after downloading, at 1% i got error. LG UP always saying, that's bad kdz file ( I download 4-5 of them). When i'm trying to check version by IMEI on devtester, I get nothing. I have no clue what could i do next .

Go into Settings > About Phone > Software Version - at the bottom of the tab click on 'Software Version'. It should give you a version with 10(?) in it (last few numbers in the string). By carrier, I mean the wireless company that provides the phone/texting services to your phone ... if the phone wasn't bought from the original services company.
If it was, the other option might be to try a factory data reset to see if it allows the update to 6.0 to come through automatically - you will have to back all your data first, otherwise you will lose it.
PS: Don't forget to click the Thanks button ...

Tell him to flash the H815 European firmware... it will not do any damage because the OS has the same signature across all variants, so the bootloader will accept.

Why can't he use LG Flash Tool instead of LG UP ? It's more readily available.

Also keep in mind, if you upgrade from 5.1... you can no longer root the device...

Read somewhere that LG flash tool working only with 5.1, not 6.0. About version - except 20b, i have also european so if first will work, i'll next . I know that i can't root phone with 6.0 but first of all - it's for my girlfriend and i think, that she don't care. Second - with quite long history with android, i never rooted any of them. I never saw a reason and also i'm bit scared when we're talking about more complicated actions . Anyway, thanks for advice. We will in next 5 hours if i finally get 6.0 on this phone

I recommend you root the device, then unlock the bootloader.

You're lucky you have the European version.. you have no idea how much hassle I went through to get that version...
So anyways, since your bootloader is unlockable, I recommend you unlock it first, prior to flashing anything mentioned by sdembiske.
I recommend you also root the phone and install TWRP, just incase something goes wrong while flashing, you can easily recover the phone, and not have it completely destroyed.
Once you have rooted, unlocked bootloader, and installed TWRP, you can safely do literally anything on the phone
Flashing the rom can easily make your 700USD device worth 0, within seconds... so Please .... take the precautions.... and install TWRP
Cheers

Even some of the LG G4 variants with locked bootloaders are rootable...... your variant is DEFINITELY rootable

LG Flash Tool has many more bricking issues than LGUP-NEW. If you ever decide you want to roll-back to 5.1, LGUP-NEW will throw up a roll-back version error if one is present - LG Flash Tool will not and will result in a bricked phone. Overall, your best and safest bet is to use LGUP-NEW.
One note: There are fraudulent sellers of supposed H815's out there and as you bought yours through auction there are no guarantees. To be on the safe side I would check with the seller to see if you can ascertain if he was the original owner and ask where the phone was purchased (what country) and who the original carrier was.
Well it didn't work. Anyway in download mode it show mi LG F500k. It's mean sth or it's normal name for g4

G4 F500k is the Korean version, isn't it??
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/korean-g4-f500k-t3150548
Before you do anything, be 100% sure what variant you have. To do so, please enter the following codes in the phone's dial pad:
*#546368#*815#
*#546368#*500#
If the first one works, you have the H815, if the second one works, you have the F500K ...
Report your findings,,,

Power down the phone, pull off the back cover and take out the battery. There should be a white tag under it - make a note of all the letters and numbers there. Provided the tag hasn't been tampered with, it should provide a good idea of what model you have and help narrow down your search for a kdz/tot that will work. I would still check with the seller of the phone and seek some verification. If the auction site is reputable, you may have some recourse if the phone is not as it was sold as.

The physical label is easier to tamper with, than the actual software. Just go by my suggestion.. the MMI codes.

The member providing you with the codes to access the hidden menu seems to have forgotten that not all codes work for the same models (as he himself found out when he tried once before) - there are carrier firmware variations with locks imposed on being able to access some. IMEI's can be changed by 'snakeheads, pimps' ... and fraudulent sellers.
Frankly, you are lucky you haven't bricked your phone completely by flashing different model/carrier variants and if you had used the LG Flash Tool to install the H815 kdz variant he recommended, you most likely would have. The same member has, for a fact, provided misleading, misinformed and potentially very harmful advice to other less informed members.

What do you mean "if you had used the LG Flash Tool to install the H815 kdz variant he recommended, YOU MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE" ??
How do you know for sure?? Have you tried it??? NO you havn't tried it, so you have no right to say "it would most likely brick it".

Hey buddy, let's check whether your bootloader is unlockable before you do anything. Please download ADB (Android Debug Bridge)
Before we do anything, make sure "Enable OEM Unlock" and "USB Debugging" options are enabled.
Once you install ADB, open Command Prompt (Press Windows Key + R , then type 'cmd' and press Enter key)
Issue the following commands:
Code:
cd C:\adb
Code:
adb start-server
Code:
adb devices
At this point, your device should show up under the list of devices. If it doesn't issue the following commands to restart the ADB server:
Code:
adb kill-server
Code:
adb start-server
Then, check again whether the device is being detected
Code:
adb devices
If the device is not showing, please check whether drivers are properly installed
If the device is being shown, you can proceed to the following command:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
If the device just boots back to Android, then the bootloader is locked, and you could have any device aside from the H811 or H815 European version
If it boots into the bootloader, then you have either the H811 or the H815 European version, and you should be able to easily root, install TWRP and flash any variants kdz file.
Now, if you have got this far without booting back to Android, time to unlock bootloader:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Once complete, issue:
Code:
fastboot getvar unlock
If you get the message "Unlock: Yes", then you have successfully unlocked bootloader.
Hope this helps

Hello all,
-I bought a 'refurbished' LG G4 online (claimed to be H815), but when I got it & checked the motherboard inside, it's VS986 instead.
Currently it's on H815 v10h (Lollipop), with ARB v2, and Baseband is MPSS.BO.2.5.c3-00070-M8992FAAAANAZM-1.19025.1
-What's is the best option I have (which ROM to flash)? I'm from Malaysia & I need GSM for 2G/3G capability (AFAIK Verizon's VS986 uses CDMA)*.
Please advise, thank you.
*EDIT: I entered Service Menu & found that several GSM & WCDMA modes are supported, but none of LTE modes is available.

The problem with Frankensteins like this is nobody knows what EXACTLY they did to make it look like a h815.
First thing to try is checking the ARB (Antirollback, see my sig) and if you are one of the 1% of lucky users then you may see "nonfusing device" instead of an ARB level.
Assuming that you did that already (as u mentioned ARB2) u are screwed.
There is no valid way to get to a good result here.
Your main issue is that the modem partition must be a vs986 one - or at least a vs986 compatible one as the ARB also takes place in that partition.
Second, if you cannot change the modem partition u might not be able to get 2G/3G as you already found out.
unlocking the device won't help either as the main issue you have relies on the the modem (partition) and even when flashing a vs986 ROM or any other it might never work.
Last - but not least - whatever you do or plan to do: kee my first sentence in mind. Each step you do can easily hard brick your device.
Ofc you can use QFIL to likely bring it back to life (the G4's are really hard to brick until an unusable state) but for this you need the extra tools, knowledge and time to learn.
sorry but there is nothing much you can do other then request your money back as you were tricked.
if you can't I may would try getting another modem partition to work with but doing that requires also a lot of time to learn how to use SALT to extract KDZs, identify the ARB of the modem partition properly (so you do not increase the ARB level by flashing a wrong modem partition) and so on..

-Thanks for your reply.
-About returning & requesting a refund, I think it'll be hard as I already damaged the warranty sticker over one of the screws while trying to check the board.
-If we ignore the modem issue for now (maybe use it as WiFi-only device), then what's the best ROM I could flash? I hope at least Marshmallow so it'll last longer as more & more apps are targetting higher Android API levels.
-BTW, I just tried flashing VS9862BA_00_0525_ARB02.kdz but LG UP says "KDZ file is invalid". On another note, while in download mode, I just noticed it says:
Code:
USER S0.0 AS0.0 B91 UHS
S U LG-H810 05.1 Hrev_10
H81010o
-So, now it also has AT&T's H810 pieces inside too?
-BTW, sorry for PM'ing you earlier; I didn't notice your signature (even though you put it in big, red fonts!).

-Okay, now I have successfully flashed VS9862BA_00_0525_ARB02.kdz by extracting the DZ file & flashing it directly! :good:
However, it seems Android FRP (Firmware Reset Protection) has been triggered; need to figure on how to bypass this while on 2BA firmware.....

Warranty or not i would return it as its not what you had paid for. But up to you and ofc as you flashed a kdz on it you would need to get it back to the state jt was before..
You could unlock and flash nougat, oreo, pie but as with flashing the vs986 kdz/dz nothing comes without a risk ofc. Especially on Frankensteins!
The good is that you likely can revert UsU if you ever want to as you have a fusing device.
