Any custom rom with NFC support? And cm 12 question. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The question on the title, and also, what cyanogenmod 12.1 or 12 based rom is recommended for this phone? Always talking about stability in battery and phone services. Im exclusively intersted in lollipop or marshmallow roms (but i suppose that marshmallow roms still lack stability on this equipment)
Thanks!

Well first this is a Note forum, not a Galaxy 4 forum. Second, from my limited understanding of Samsung products (I'm on my 1st) if you want the best stability for the phone, your best bet is to stick with TouchWiz ROMs. Personally I flashed Jedi Elite V2 but it's a kitkat ROM. Using ASOP ROMS on a TouchWiz device, you will encounter a number of issues. And say goodbye to total SPen functionality. There are some 3rd party apps, but you won't ever get everything back if you leave TouchWiz. Sure, you can run ASOP ROMS from any android. But it there WILL be issues.
Also, currently the only way you get any cyanogenmod to work, you will have to accept the less stable nightly release, as there is no stable release for this model. So.... ASOP ROMS on TouchWiz devices = incompatibility issues. Nightly builds vs stable release = even more issues. I don't advise it.
If you are asking about flashing a T-Mobile Note 3, and want Lollipop, I suggest looking into a Note 5 port. It's TouchWiz and is packed with features. Personally I find I get better battery life off of kitkat than lollipop but I don't know about NFC

Yeah, i know, the question was intended for my N900T, not for my S4. I will stick with Touchwiz then, thanks!

I was just double checking since you were posting from a Galaxy. Regardless, the issue remains the same. Unless there have been recent changes that I'm not aware of, you won't get much stability from an ASOP ROM. Like I said though, I suggest checking out a Note 5 port. I know they are out there. It will have most Note 5 features, as well as full functionality out of the S Pen. That is the one I would use if I chose to go back to Lollipop. when I bought this note 3, it was 5.0 stock ROM. I had HORRIBLE battery life. I am getting 3 times the battery life and a pretty cool kitkat ROM using Jedi Elite V2.

Are TW roms typically more stable than AOSP roms?

Thread title.
I was just wondering because TW roms are based on the current released version for the phone whereas AOSP roms are the latest android version ported over to the phone, is this correct?
My experience is yes, tw is more stable. Although aosp roms are for versions unreleased to our phone, such as 4.2.2. They are usually pretty stable and get better with time. It just takes time for developers to fix things. But you miss out on things such as being able to update prl or profile in the Aosp ROMs. AOSP ROMs aren't necessarily ported though, a lot are built from source, but I get what you are saying.

Thanks, for the longest time (up until today) I never saw the point in TW roms.
I was pretty naive and thought they were inferior in every way but the more I look into it I see there are lots of pros and cons to both

It really depends on who is building the Rom... right now, with them working out the bugs with the new 3.4 kernel must aosp roms are going to have some bugs.... tw is great though, more goodies in them and I generally get better performance and battery with tw roms... once the 3.4 kernel gets ironed out things should be pretty on par with tw on aosp though... I know of an almost completely stable 3.4 kernel, but it can't be mentioned here..

Nexus 5 vs s4 with Google Edition rom?

Can anyone comment on the speed and stability of a s4 with a ge rom vs the new Nexus 5?
I've tried running Aosp roms on my note 2 when I had it and they always ended up being to buggy.
I love my Nexus 5 and stock Google experience but I'm wondering if the s4 might be a better fit. Mostly for the option to swap out the battery and that gorgeous AMOLED screen.

in my experience, the GE official roms are pretty stable, but empty. I usually have some sort of highly custom rom on my phones, like carbon or aokp. They bring tons of customization that spoils you. But AOSP in the galaxy S line is far from stable. They work fine sometimes, some updates break something, etc.
I am personally wiating for KK GE for my SG4. I will install Xposed framework to customize it however i need it. At the end is Samsgun own FW (ROM) and things will work better than any other AOSP based rom.

The s4 ge roms are just like having a nexus device in S4 hardware. Its a very stable build that is a mix of touchwiz and aosp. Its a win win it gives you the stability of stock with the greatness of stock Google.

Should I stick with 4.3 or move on to 4.4?

Hey there, I'm currently running the Cataclysm ROM on my Galaxy Nexus, and I'm super happy with it. But I was thinking of moving to CM 11 (not sure if official or unofficial).
How is it in terms of stability, bugs, speed, battery life, etc, compared to 4.3?
The 4.4.2 cm11 rom its very stable now, i recomend you to upgrade to KitKat now, works fine and fast, and so beauty
Sorry my english

CM11 with ART is fantastic, but you'll have to make up your own mind on battery life.

What do you mean? Is battery life worse on 4.4?
I highly recommend PlayfulGod's unofficial CM11 build. Battery life is great (almost 3 hours screen on time with undervolt and mpokang kernel) and it is stable enough to use as a daily driver. It has made my Galaxy Nexus faster than ever

I'm curious about this too. I just flashed 4.4 Slimkat and battery life seemed to be worse, but I thought it was because I was playing more with it.

You pretty much nailed it on the head. The more you do the worse battery is. Its that simple. Battery life isnt the same for everyone since everyone uses their phones differently.
imho Android 4.4 is the best update since 4.0.
The new RAM management is awesome and makes my GNexus run like on the first day
CM11 is pretty stable, too.
It's too bad that many developers leaving the GNexus and move on, because I'm still missing some features (like HOLO, Active Display, ...)
And it's a shame that Google isn't updating the stock rom, because like I said, the GNexus is running way better with 4.4 than it was with 4.3.
I made a change to 4.4.2 CM11 and it is really awesome! Transition is very simple compared to HTC Sensation. It works great !

Best TW ROM?

Hi guys,
So its been awhile since I've browsed these forums so sorry to bug you about this but we're giving my wife's s3 to the mother in law. I've had it rooted and running tasks aokp since day 1. Its on an older possibly 4.1 version?
Anyway I want her to have a stable reliable experience with her first smart phone so I would like recommendations on which ROMs to look at. Leaning towards tw for her sake so its not to crazy like aokp etc... Thanks

I would suggest dandroid or s3rx. Dandroid is based from s3rx just aosp themed and heavily debloated. You may have to search a little bit for 4.1.2 of those but they are the most stable for me. Btw they both are stable on 4.3. Been running them as my daily driver for months and I used dandroid before on 4.1.2 which was also very reliable. S3rx for 4.1.2 gives you more of a choice in whats in it with aroma so that may work better for you.
I'm fine updating no sense in staying at 4.1 I was just stating that.. Thanks will look into those
Sent from my SGH-I337 using Tapatalk 2
i747z is a good ROM if you can find the 4.1.2 version - the 4.3 version is buggy, and the developer isn't much help for fixing it.
XDA does not allow best rom threads because in short there is no best rom.

[Q] rom help please

Are there any stable roms out there that have wifi, 4g/lte, gps working. Wanted to try kitkat. I don't care about my Knox. When I first rooted my phonei had battery issues. So all the help would be recommended.

My Rom from Aminalmo is very stable KK Rom. I'm using that one since 5 days ago, and no problems. Of course I have to go back to my beloved Tweaked probably tomorrow or Wednesday. I missed all the customizations and tweakes. But like I said Aminalmo Kit Kat Rom is running beautifully for the pay 5 days, I love his work and Dwitherel work as well.

In my opinion, if you want an extremely delightful experience with a 4.3 ROM Tweaked is your choice, with Lean Kernel is a match made in Heaven. Like I said before IMO Tweaked is the best Rom for our phone hands down for the 4.3 firmware, now if you want 4.4.2 Rom IMO My Rom is your Rom, at least for me is working perfect without hiccups or problems.

Can you please send me a link to the kit kat rom that you suggest. thanks
I would go AOSP if you want kitkat.the ROMs are more stable for kitkat right now. My two favorites are Sinless GooglePlay Rendition and Gummy. They are both buttery smooth and have all the above working great. Only downfall to AOSP right now is NFC doesn't work. As far as TW kitkat is concerned, I used both MyRom and Crash but they had some issue that had me going back to AOSP.
