FM radio on CM based ROM? - Sprint LG G2

Hi, I upgrade from Nexus 5 to LG G2 recently, in hope to use FM radio with data usage. I can use next radio on stock, but I really like CM based roms. But I did lots of research and couldn't find how to make FM radio work. Does anyone know how to do that? Please help, don't want to revert back to stock just for this.
(I found this in xda http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-general/app-fm-radio-cm12-1-t3092437 . But it doesn't work. And couple of other apps, but none can be installed in CM 12.1)
Thanks a lot.

[HELP] Froyo rom + working Radio FM

Hi there
It's been a lot since root release but i still have to root my device, since i saw around a new tool (unrevoked3) that makes it simple and fast i wanted to give it a shot and see if the devs around there made some good roms.
What i've been looking around is a stable Froyo rom, better if w/o sense, and with working Radio FM but i can't seem to find it. Everyone talk about 720p camera, incall echo, LED mods, theme mods, etc. but i can't find a rom where it states "Radio FM: Working" and even looking around in the thread i can't find a clue if it works or no.
So, anyone knows one that i can try? Thanks.
I'm using the LeeDroid ROM (v1.3) and the FM radio works fine. I also used Unrevoked3 to root my phone, and it's nice and easy.
I think that the FM radio only works on Sense-based Froyo ROMs.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the tip, gonna try LeeDroid rom then i'm curious to see how froyo performs.
You can always install a home replacement so you have FM radio but a stock launcher and homescreen.
That's what i'm doing atm on my 1.21 stock rom but the lack of space in memory is killing the fun of using this device, i've installed just a handful of apps and the memory is always around 15ish mb left, i'm spending more time deleting apps than using them

ephumuris,
Can you please elaborate a bit on what is meant here? I'm using a custom ROM w/o Sense, and find it perfect other than it's got no FM radio - something I'm missing from Sense.

[Q] What radio to go with when flashing to RCMix HD v6.0.0.1?

I'm about to use RCMix HD and hopefully stick with it, I have no idea which radio to get though and I can't post in the thread itself yet, hopefully someone can give me an idea of what radio to get, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thankyou.
Hello,
I was under the impression that the RCmix 6.0.0.1 would come with the latest radio and matched RIL from the latest release that it is based off. I am new to ROMing so dont take my word for it though.
Please post back your results.
I've been using;
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_test
RIL_12.35d.60.140f_26.08.03.07_M
its been the best that ive used so far (used it with RCMix HD v6 and with Android Revolution HD 5.1).

I think the RIL is included, i didnt think the radio was....then again i'm new to this whole thing as well!
I don't even know what an RIL is, haha, do I need one?
RIL stands for Radio Interface Layer. As i understand it the software that allows the rom to talk to the radio. I have also read that people have had successful results without updating the RIL. I havnt updated mine and it works fine.
The RIL is apparently only needed for sense ROMS (RCMix, CoreDroid, ARHD etc.). Non-sense roms (such as CM7) dont require a RIL.
As far as I know, a radio will still work without the matching RIL, but it just works better with the correct RIL

[Q] RIL Confusion

Hi Everyone,
I'm a bit confused with RIL files and i would like to have some clarifications.
From what i am reading on sense roms needs to be flashed with RILs which i get. I currently have Radio 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M and i flash the Ril 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M when i'm using this ROM DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00. Ok, so for AOSP/AOKP/MIUI Roms i shouldn't need to install andy RILs correct? Just install the ROM and go, right? Also if i do want to try out Sabsa Prime v8.5 is there a new set of Rils that i need to use or do i use the Ril i was using before?
For people who have different brand phones other than HTC is there a Ril alternate that needs to be installed to match the radio or is it flash ROM and go?
Many thanks everyone. This have been stopping me from trialing out different Roms except for modified sense gingerbread roms like ARHD.

Only use RILs on ROMs that are both Sense and pre-ICS. For all other ROMs (like Sabsa Prime, which is ICS) you just flash the ROM and you're good.

Just to make it a little more understandable:
Every Rom needs a RIL;
But in many Custom Roms the Devs already build in the RILs;
The RIL must correspond with your Radio; if it doesnt, you will end up with no Reception;
See the quote below and the the related Thread for more detailed Information.
I just followed the discussion some days ago, cause I wanted to update My Desire HD to the latest Radio, and didn't wanted to brick my phone.
It's always better to understand why things behave like they do, instead of follow some instruction without being aware whats happening.
ShadowPony said:
I don't entirely agree with your statements.
EVERY ROM comes with a RIL. Period. No exception, otherwise the radio doesn't work.
For AOSP ROMs there is a RIL, but have not seen it apart from ROM.
With Sense everything gets weirder because HTC released a new RIL for almost any combination of Sense with OS (at least until ICS, where old RILs no longer function properly)
even with any sense ROM, you can only flash the baseband (radio), and if you have reception problems, then also go for the RIL
also, the latest radio with RIL is: 12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M

@o4kareg, GetRIL reports matching baseband/RIL for me with 12.69.60.29_26.17.14.11_M and the corresponding RIL

I use Sabsa Prime 8.5 on radio 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M without flashing any RIL. GPS and Phone works brilliant!

Right!!
your Rom has the RIL included...
my DHD runs on radio 12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M also without extra installing RIL...
cause it's included in my ROM by the Dev.

So if i don't want to update my radio what RIL should i use for my version? will the gingerbread Ril be used? and how about AOSP roms? I had be experiences updating the radio before. i've update radio + matching RIL and my phone cannot hold a call connection longer than 10mins.

Unless you have a GB Sense ROM, just use the RIL that came with the ROM.

[Q] Any such thing as *fully* working ICS/JB + Sense4 ROM?

Hi Everyone,
Long time listener, first time caller.
Over the last couple of months, I have tried virtually every ROM I can get my hands on for my DHD, and I always do a full wipe (format) of /system, /data, /cache, Dalvik, and .android_secure before install.
The only ICS ROM I can get working fully is Blackout, but it is Sense 3.6.
I have tried Viper, and *really* like it, but Bluetooth is broken (in 1.2.0, .1, .2, and .3)
That seems to be the case for me with Sense 4 ROMs (lite or full); if Bluetooth works, then WiFi is broken. If WiFi works, then Bluetooth is broken.
ROMs I've tried (latest):
Viper
Miui
Jellytime
ARHD
Blackout (S3.6, which is where I'm at b/c it works)
IceCold
IceSense
CosmicSandwich
Sabsa
codefireX
Kernels I've tried (various releases up to latest):
Beastmode
KangBang
Virtuous
So, I'd like to know if there is such a thing as a fully-working ICS/JB ROM with Sense 4? I cant seem to find one. W/o Bluetooth and WiFi, nothing can be considered a "daily driver", imo... especially w/o Bluetooth, if you know what I mean.
Thanks!
I'm baffled; all of those ROMs should have both BT and wifi fully working. What's your recovery and version?
EDIT: and what's your radio?

Same here, bluetooth is one of the few things that ALWAYS work (except for 4.2.1, but that's expected).
Are you wipping between flashes ?
Thanks for the replies, guys.
As I outlined above, yes, I am fully wiping b/t ROM installs - even restores - please see my method in first post.
I am using ClockworkMod Recovery (HBoot for booting) and have paid for ROM Manager, which entitles me to further updates to CWM than what is available on Play. I currently have 5.8.1.5 installed (CWM Touch).
The radio varies from ROM to ROM it seems, and I should have documented which version in each ROM, but right now, in Blackout, it is reporting 12.56.60.25P_26.10.04.03_M. <--- That number stays consistent, afaik, but the first letter will change (U and T, iirc).
When I say that Bluetooth doesnt work, specifically what happens is that it either doesnt pair with any device, or if it does pair, no sound will be transmitted or the pairing will only last for a second, maybe two seconds at most.
Deleted.
Sent from a dream.
The radio shouldn't be changing with each ROM unless you change it. But with that said, nothing seems out of the ordinary. You could try reflashing your radio manually? Other than that I'm out of ideas.

I dont know much about that, but with that said, I just re-flashed Viper 1.2.3 and my radio now reads:
12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M, which is different than it was above with Blackout.
I have not tried re-flashing my radio manually. I wouldnt know which one would give me a better chance of success...

Once I flash a new ROM, the kernel and the radio are the same I had or the new ROM comes with its own kernel and radio?
Thanks in advance
roms do not come with radios tho they do have their own kernels. Radios are region based not rom based so there is no rom specific radio just what works best in your area.

Thanks for the explanation. So, if I bought my mobile in Spain, the radio is different if I had bought, for example in France?
depends on how close they are to each other whether same service is used in Spain as in France or if they are totally two different service. I would Google the carrier you use then see what radio they shipped with. Even in the radio thread you may find an answer to which radio is good for you in the area your at.

[Q] Remove a ROM

I have a second hand HTC Desire. It looks like it's been romed. I've no problem with that, other than the fact there is no FM radio!
Can someone either tell me how I'd be able to get it back without having to download a radio app (which uses too much data for my contract). Or to just remove the rom.
Cheers
I'd suggest flashing one of the stable Gingerbread ROMs with FM Radio support (not all of them have FM Radio).
Try the Euroskank 7.2 ROM, or MildWild MW series ROM - both are fast, non-sense ROMs with FM support.
There are plenty of Sense options around too if you want one.
