Tethering question - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

Does anyone know if Galaxy Tools still works to enable tethering? I'm about to upgrade to this device, and have to root and tether for wifi. Coming from the s4, and would be grateful for any advice. [emoji6]

I was never able to get the galaxy tools tether to work but it did work for me to get my msl. As long as you have your msl you can easily fix the tethering on the phone manually. Below are the instructions I follow from one of the original posts here about tethering. I, in no way, take credit for the below instructions but had them saved to my evernote account and am unable to find the original thread on my phone right now too give the original individuals credit. Sorry bud!
"Go to Dialer and enter ##DATA# (##3282#)
Press "Edit" then enter your MSL.
Click on APN Settings
For both "APN2 EHRPD internet" and "APN2 LTE internet" change APN Type from "default, mms" to "default, mms, dun"
After you enter the change, hit Menu -> Save before going to the next APN.
And that's it. That easy. It works for both Hotspot and USB tethering. Seems too easy, but that's all I had to do."

Thank you, I'll give it a shot.
Have you rooted, and what method if so?

All you need is your MSL to enable tethering, get your MSL/SPC and then ##DATA#, goto apn settings and add DUN to the "type" and save, do this for all APN's listed, the latter one shouldnt need it, but the first 2 do. make sure you save them before backing out to edit the next setting, then you're all good. No need for root unless thats how you acquired your MSL. SPrint will give it to you as well if you ask for it. Thats how i got mine before i rooted the phone for other reasons. Keep in mind, so far, all rooting methods cause Samsung and Android pay to not work. So if thats a interest to you, dont root
Good luck!

Never use either android or samsung pay. I always use the card. Thanks very much!

There is a number of ways to make this work. As mentioned above with the APNs. Galaxy Tools and Native Hotspot Unlocker ultimately do the same thing as the manual method.

Do you have to be rooted to use the native hotspot unlocker and would the same apk work on the note 5

It will work for most Sam devices but you do need root access. The method of adding 'dun' to your APNs only require your MSL

I called sprint last night about my wifes msl, and they told me it didn't come with one. I was like, wtf? Any ideas?

K, thx
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

Btw, gt worked awesome on the note 5, so should be awesome on the s6.
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk

Just stick to the non root trick, works great. If sprint wont tell you the msl just swap your number to a old phone and then swap it back to the new 1. The code they give you is the msl

I'm abroad, how can I get MSL form my phone? I want to edit thing in "data" menu.
thanks.

[Diag Mode] Reading NV memory for unlock code

Hey guys I unlocked mine using software unlock. It did a temp root then changed the unlock code to "00000000".
I paid to get it unlocked with the tool.
I want to start a thread that everyone does memory scan and dumps. That way we can try to start
Unlocking our Devices free. Now I can't do one on mine since its pointless since mine was made into 0's.
For those of you who have unlocked it already and k ow your unlock code or are wanting to unlock it I encourage to do a memory scan and a dump.
Now I suggest using CDMA workshop or using QXDM to scan the memory.
You are going to look for it both in hex and plain text.
Type *#7284# and select USB – Modem
Type *#9090# and select [1] USB4. Exit service menu and turn your phone off by pressing power button then reboot.
I will post the drivers in another post.

Also installed the samsung drivers from the link qxdm and qpst.
When I connected my phone, it installed several new drivers on Windows. However it couldn't find one driver for device Android ?
Also I'm new to all this I don't know how to use QXDM, can you post a step by step guide for it? Also once I'm done, should I set back USB to PDA (on *#7284#) ?
We can just call TMobile and get the unlock code for free. Not understanding the reason for this.

Is it safe to get the phone unlocked this way ? This way its a little cheaper. But I wanted to know, if it involves changing IMEI or somethin (not legal?)

Sounds like you are missing the ADB driver. What I have done to get the adb driver to load properly, is to plug phone in and make sure I get the "typical usb" message in phone. Disconnect cable and reboot phone. Reconnect cable and see if windows loads more drivers. Those would be the "adb " drivers.
I have adb on my PC's which does download Google drivers as well.

Hey guys sorry for the no replies. I am currently on vacation on a lake in North Carolina and the wife complains when I try to get on the laptop lol.
The point is to try to understand where in the Memory the Lock code is stored.
That way we don't have to visit sites and request unlock codes both paid and free.
That way we can do it ourselves.
And about the Android Driver he is right. Im about 99% sure you are missing the adb drivers.
Thank you all for helping out. As soon as I get back I am going to connect and try to see if I can find my unlock code which was reset to 0's.
And yes its safe and permanent when you make it all 0's.
Well back to vacation.
Again thanks to all for helping while I am away
Waiting for the free unlock code too. If you can figure out, please post it. Have a nice vacation.

To find the address location of lock code.
This seems like its a similar process to the galaxy s 4g. on that phone you would create a memory backup up file through terminal emulator using some commands. i would make a .bak file that you would scan with a hex editor on the pc...

i can't seem to find a damn craQ'd working version of cdma workshop for SH*T ! - and if I do, setup doesn't run at all just says "Lisence needed to run setup!" -- anywho, has anyone CONFIRMED this working yet? finding your own lock code?
If any one out there had their phone unlocked by a code and willing to share phone's NV items through QCN file (please remove sim before extracting QCN), I can compare them to my locked version and see what items are affected.
Please DO NOT POST your QCN files here instead go to text tab in QCN view and copy all content except address 550 and send it me.
Thanks.

[Q] Msl generator

Hi all.
I am having issues getting my MSL for my Sprint Galaxy Nexus. I am rooted running stock 4.1. I have tried the *#*#Data#*#* trick but nothing I downloaded Vipers files but I am a noob and I was not sure how to use it. I have busy box, and terminal emulator. I called sprint but because the contract is canceled they told me it was deleted from their system.
So I was wondering if there was a way to get a number generator to spam 6 digit numbers to the MSL enter bar. I need this so that I can switch to page plus. Thank you if you can help.
Sorry not trying to be rude but would hate to have my question fall in the void. so BUMP
Can't you just use CDMA tool with the Samsung default password?

I don't think so I was reading the thread by autoprime who stated that these were Via chipset, but I don't know. If you know the steps I will give them a shot.
Okay never mind I figured it out. I just re installed the Ice cream-sandwich stock for sprint and then I was able to use the msl terminal script from Viperboy and using the 3 step process from autoprime.

tried that too.. still no dice..i also read somewhere changing the spc to 000000 might help, but no dice with doing that either. I also read somewhere that when updating to jb 4.1.2 it killed the 16 digit code, but reverting back to 4.1.1 or 4.0.1 brought it back. So im going to try that next.. ill update, thanks garwynn
Just to update.. Yes flashing back to ICS fixed the problem i was able to use default samsung pw. Weird how this doesn't work on JB 4.1.2

Hi guys,
I have been having issues with Boost Mobile and my 920p galaxy s6. I am in the military and I'm being deployed soon. Boost is giving me the run around about unlocking my device. They gave me an MSL code and anothet 8 digit code but there is no way to enter the code. No pop up comes up with the international sim inserted. I see this app is suppose to unlock thesim slot sprint uicc. How does this work exactly? Do i just need to root and install the app then click uicc unlock and fallow the steps? Will this completely unlock my phone for international and domestic use? I really hope so. I am so frustrated. I am a single parent and want to be able to be in contact with my child while deplyed.
Thanks guys,
Rocky

Yes! Glad it is finally here. I am updating now. Sad the APN menu was removed. Where did they move it to? I thought the carrier should be able to change the APN w/o having root access to your phone.
