Does anyone know how to solve error in fastboot while flashing:
Code:

Invalid sparse file format at header magi
I can't flash recovery, but i was able to flash unlocktoken. I've already tried erasing cache.

Use a later version fastboot (v2 or 3) and do the update twice.
I've used latest version, probably the file i wanted to flash was corrupted, because with kinghunki's exe it worked.
Please help tu fix this

Hi,
you could try using the htc_fastboot from here:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759880682
----------
(from thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...arshmallow-t3316279/post65365561#post65365561 )
If your current fastboot isn't working/throws errors, please use the HTC fastboot in the zip below:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759880682 (htc_fastboot.zip)
Replace existing commands with the HTC_fastboot prefix.
So for example, instead of:
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You would do this instead:
Code:
HTC_fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You are amazing I just tried and it worked !!!!! You are heavensent.
Now one last question do I have to redo the recovery and everything to get a custom Rom?
I just went through the process of installing the custom Rom again and now my phone constantly boot loops with the message " this build is for development purposes only..." it was the newest version of supersu

You need to look for an older version of SuperSU.... 2.64 or 2.65

I was able to root my phone with HTC Dev. After I flashed custom Recovery (newest). I started disabling apps in the stock room but however I deleted one that was for UI.
Error Home sense stopped
Reset the phone in the menu... same error. I have no backup the OS so I figured that RUU exe would help but the damn setup extracts than closes......
I tried fastboot oem lock because it was recommended to when using Stock rom RUU but that didn't change anything.
Now when I try to unlock my device again I get:

Really, this should be in the Questions and Answers section.
Try changing the name of this file from to 2PS6IMG.zip, not 2PS6IMG.zip.zip, and placing it on the root of an Sdcard. Then boot into download mode. I'm not guaranteeing the file will work.

This fastboot will work with the 10. That minimal version you have doesn't know how to handle the method HTC uses to pack their ruu. Unzip to a new folder. Copy ruu there. Open command prompt there. Use hfastboot as your fastboot syntax.

I know that OTA updates won't work with custom recovery and a major update came up for my stock rom which does improve camera and such. What would be the best way of installing it?
Some websites tell me I have to re-flash recovery partition but I have no idea how to do this. Is it simply finding the recovery.img and flashing it in download mode? than repeating the same command in CMD to re-flash custom recovery?

(htc_)fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. be sure to get the right recovery for your device/CID.
if you already flashed a RUU and didn't use twrp, for example allow system modification, don't do it and just flash stock recovery, boot up and if you get the update it should install

Not sure where to find the recovery.img
The ZIP file I flashed to my phone is working fine. Inside it has 1 to 24 zip files, the first one has recovery_signed.img but everytime I try to extract it I get a error both from winrar and 7-zip.

yea you can't extract it without proper tools, but i don't need which tool exactly to use to extract it. and afaik winrar and 7zip are not capable of, because it is encrypted.
there are other locations where you can find it. either from a twrp backup in this forum or so

twrp custom recovery can take ota, if on stock system.img i believe.
google will be more help than I.
or someone who has taken ota on the 10.
different than previous htc devices so toss those "guides".
I believe it used to be as easy as being on stock recovery.

Seems like flashing to stock rom zip file than keep updating until it's done THAN re-flashing trwp.img and rooting works best
I have updated to 1.90.666.4
However if another update comes out and it fails I'll have to re-flash to stock and repeat the process

Since you're using fastboot and rooting and you've unlocked bootloader, is it possible to just run a stock rooted type custom rom, along with TWRP and not have to worry about the OTA? I know it can be done now with custom recovery after devices have been rooted, but it seems like a big pain in the rear.
I understand if you need or want to keep the stock rom, and I think some users can help with the OTA stuff. I just thought I'd mention now that you're this far into it.
It's been interesting using the stock rom. Did some mods to the rom

Make sure you have the latest fastboot binary installed from Google.
I'd try and flash January Security again. It should work if you run the flash-all
you can try this method, it really helped me when an update didn't work. I use it now to make every update, so I don't have any problems.

You could try to unzip system.img and flash individually
hi I also tried flashing individualy (after flash-all failed) and I got the same error - userdata.img
You could try to unzip system.img and flash individually
You might wanna try using fastboot to format the userdata partition; be sure to format partition on both a & b slots...
If you need help or more clarification, let me know...
Hope this helps...

A few things to check that have messed other users up as well:\
make sure you unzipped the factory image then unzip the second zip file for the boot img
make sure OEM unlock is ON
make sure USB Debugging is ON
make sure you have a 2.0 USB cable
try rebooting your PC
make sure your SDK tools are the LATEST version
make sure you're getting your command prompt in the same folder as your platform tools
not saying these will fix your issue, but have seen these trip up others..
Good luck.

Extract the secondary zip, and place it in your SDK platform-tools folder. Then try again.
I did that. That's why I said flash-all doesn't like that. I moved the unzipped second folder into my platform tools folder and all went well.
Flashing this device is nothing like Shamu was.
