My LG G3 D855 is running Marshmallow. My PC is Windows 10 64 bit. I am trying to connect my phone to my PC via ES File Explorer to transfer files over instead of using USB. I have tried my IP address for LAN and there are no folders to view, and also tried Wireless IP address, and my PC folders (docs, music, pictures, videos) are visible, but there are no files inside, well, actually there is one called "desktop.ini"
I've not used this method of transfer for a while, but I know it worked before MM and running Windows 7.
I'm just not sure why no files are visible. Network sharing is turned on, I'm in a home group. I have tried other file managers that have network connection and nothing works.
Any ideas?
Does not matter, sorted, had load of folders hidden!

Very strange problem. My office computer is running windows xp and the account is password protected (not in a domain, just windows logon) and I can't access the shared folders from my Desire. I've tried with ASTRO and ES File Explorer with no luck. In the same time ES File Explorer can access my home computer's shared folders, which is not password protected.
ES File Explorer do find my office computer, but always says that the user name and password are incorrect.
I have no problem connecting to it with my laptop and my ex HD2.
Are the PC and handset using the same alphabet? Could there be some charset mixup involving Bulgarian, Cyrillic or unicode charsets?
Hi,
I found multiply apps and tutorials how to acces android mobile from pc via wifi, but found nothing about how to access shared folders of PC (windows 7) from my desire. Is there any app that can do this?
I heard about a program called homepipe for android. But never tried it myself.

I tried homepipe and it works but in free version you have only 10 transfers per month, unlimited is paid and this works through internet (files are accessable everywhere, where is internet connection)...it uploads (using homepipe program in windows 7) files from pc to internet account and dowloads it to phone(using phone app). What is more transfer is very slow.
I am looking for something that is working directly between phone and computer in home wifi network (access is possible only at home, when connected to wifi network)
I see.
I've found these btw:
ES File Explorer
Teamviewer

I've noticed a few times over the past week, sometimes Windows Explorer shows different files/folders when connected via MTP then when browsing on the phone with OI File Manager...
Just now, I made a titanium backup of Google Wallet (not connected via MTP), and its supposed to be saved in the \TitaniumBackup\ folder. I connected up my USB and opened "Internal Storage". The TitaniumBackup folder isnt there, yet I see it with OI File Manager on the phone...
Another instance, I deleted a folder via MTP in windows explorer, it disappeared normally...But then I open OI File Manager on the phone (while it's still connected in this instance) and the folder was still there. Even after I refreshed in Windows the file was supposedly gone.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
...bump...
This was driving me crazy, so i spent the past 45 minutes screwing around, and have come to this conclusion: MTP is using the Media Storage in android, the same program that takes forevvvverrr to refresh your photo gallery. Get an app called "SDrescan" and force a media rescan. you can actually watch your windows explorer refresh the folder. if you have alot of stuff, it could take a bit of time (i only had a few files, but they refused to show up)
Again, "SDrescan" seems to fix the MTP refresh/hidden files issue
I have tried with file manager and found the files i was looking for in android/data/something but when i connect my GN to my PC (win7 32bit) i only get a few folders and files,
I have tested with both USB modes and I only get the basic folders such as
Alarms, Android, DCIM, Downloads, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcasts, Ringtones.
and the file manager reports more folders present :/
also the files i'm trying to access are within the android folder (which is visible on PC) but in filemanager there are 10-20 folders found in android/data that are missing on PC. PC only shows 3 folders in android/data
It also appears to be possible for other users to access the exact same file at the exact same filepath, why can't I?
is there a feature on GN or ICS that makes it impossible to access some files from the PC or is this a bug/flaw?
in case you guys need to know what files i'm trying to access, it's the game files to GTAIII
I kind of have a similar problem.
When i connect my phone to a windows 7 computer it mounts okey and shows me the files. If I create a folder on the phone from windows explorer, unmounts the device, I can not see this folder on the phone via a file manager unless i reboot my phone. This also applies the other way around. If I create a folder on the phone from a file manager, then mount the phone to the computer, I can not see the folder until I reboot my phone.
Is there a fix for this? Is it a bug? How can i resolve this? It's very frustrating.
MTP/PTP doesn't offer all the features the full USB transfer mode has. Search will help you find the pros and cons of this.
Workaround: Use an app like WiFi File Explorer or Airdroid.
So, some of my folders are not showing up as folders when viewed on win8 (windoze explorer) or on the mac through the Android File Transfer (ATF) app when I connect the tablet. It's hard to describe, but it's as if they appear as some sort of unrecognizable app or file (not a folder) when viewed on the computer through windoze explorer or AFT. The Strange part is, it's inconsistent. If I create folder using root explorer, it shows up as a folder on the tablet, but that folder is not viewable on the pc or mac. Same thing if I create the folder on the tablet using windoze explorer or the ATF on the mac. When I reconnect the tablet, the folders are not viewable as folders. Everything seems to work fine though; fastboot, adb, etc. The tablet is recognize on both platforms when connected and the appropriate viewer opens, but some of the newly created folders don't appear as folders. Anyone else experience this or know of a solution?
edit: nvm, I figured it out...
