Very strange problem. My office computer is running windows xp and the account is password protected (not in a domain, just windows logon) and I can't access the shared folders from my Desire. I've tried with ASTRO and ES File Explorer with no luck. In the same time ES File Explorer can access my home computer's shared folders, which is not password protected.
ES File Explorer do find my office computer, but always says that the user name and password are incorrect.
I have no problem connecting to it with my laptop and my ex HD2.
Are the PC and handset using the same alphabet? Could there be some charset mixup involving Bulgarian, Cyrillic or unicode charsets?

Hi all
I tried ES Explorer and Astro:
Astro: i can browse but not opening the files on the domain server
ES Explorer: can't login with domain\user
Anyone has a solution to access and open files (mp3, avi, pdf, u.a.) on a server in a windows domain?
I have a network drive at my home, is there any app that i can map network drive? Meaning i can acess the drive from my desire?
thanks
ASTRO File Manager has a SMB module. You could try that.
If by mapping you mean mounting, your device must be rooted and using a kernel with CIFS support.
You can then use CifsManager to manage your cifs/nfs network shares.
If you just need to browse or download files from your NAS to your phone, ASTRO or ES File Explorer will be fine.
If you want any application to be able to access your NAS seamlessly like it was a local folder, you will need CIFS support.
I just need to browse, view and delete files so ill use astro.
I need some help setting it up.
What do I enter in the server, share, domain and directory fields?
Which field do I enter the IP and the shared folder name?
Cheers

I am using ES File Explorer and have set it up to include all my cloud storage as well as shared folders on my LAN. All works great over Wi-Fi but have not managed to figure out how to set it up to access my LAN shared folders remotely over Internet.
Is it possible and if yes can you please let me know how or point me to some instructions.
So, some of my folders are not showing up as folders when viewed on win8 (windoze explorer) or on the mac through the Android File Transfer (ATF) app when I connect the tablet. It's hard to describe, but it's as if they appear as some sort of unrecognizable app or file (not a folder) when viewed on the computer through windoze explorer or AFT. The Strange part is, it's inconsistent. If I create folder using root explorer, it shows up as a folder on the tablet, but that folder is not viewable on the pc or mac. Same thing if I create the folder on the tablet using windoze explorer or the ATF on the mac. When I reconnect the tablet, the folders are not viewable as folders. Everything seems to work fine though; fastboot, adb, etc. The tablet is recognize on both platforms when connected and the appropriate viewer opens, but some of the newly created folders don't appear as folders. Anyone else experience this or know of a solution?
edit: nvm, I figured it out...
My LG G3 D855 is running Marshmallow. My PC is Windows 10 64 bit. I am trying to connect my phone to my PC via ES File Explorer to transfer files over instead of using USB. I have tried my IP address for LAN and there are no folders to view, and also tried Wireless IP address, and my PC folders (docs, music, pictures, videos) are visible, but there are no files inside, well, actually there is one called "desktop.ini"
I've not used this method of transfer for a while, but I know it worked before MM and running Windows 7.
I'm just not sure why no files are visible. Network sharing is turned on, I'm in a home group. I have tried other file managers that have network connection and nothing works.
Any ideas?
Does not matter, sorted, had load of folders hidden!
