I have an Amazon Tate and I am currently using PacMan Rom 4.4.4 which is KitKat.
I am mostly happy with the performance. I mainly use the tablet for playing Sonic Runners and it takes a couple of seconds for the game to load each menu.
I also use the tablet for web browsing. It takes about 8 seconds for the stock browser to load, and although switching between tabs is a little sluggish, it's not too bad.
I was wondering are there any Roms that would result in faster performance? If so, which ones. And realistically how much of speed increase would I see?
I don't want to go to all the trouble of installing a new ROM if it isn't going to be noticeable faster.
Thanks!

Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone uses FPse, the PSX emulator. I just recently purchased it and that damed thing killed my weekend. I was playing Metal Gear Soild the entire weekend trying to get the best performance etc. Looks like 'old software drawing' and Open-GL Blits mode or whatever works the best, but I want to rock Open GL. Once I turn it on, the performance plummets for me. Any suggestions on settings etc?
EDIT: Would a certain BIOS make a difference in performance? I'm using SCPH1002
Thanks,
--Marc
not sure about the bios thing, i have installed 1001. havent tried any games, need to find the psx stash, can't remember where i stored the few i kept to make an iso.
sent from my i9250
downloaded it today cuz i read that it now finally supports skullmonkeys the best damn game i ever played in my life (appart form max payne cuz i really like the stories and the comics in max payne and the vidz in skullmonkeys and what not)
i was stunned how it works, no lag no nothing with a game 627MB big. i use scph1001 as he recommended and thats it. non of the tweeks in video settings do anything cuz the frame rate stays at 59-60 constant and the picture quality stays the same, not perfectly clear but decent.

If you download/install the Open-GL plugin, it looks way better, BUT, I've noticed a huge performance hit during cut scenes etc.
Never heard of Skullmonkeys.
EDIT: Oh crap, did the most recent update and it completely borked for me.. v0.11.46
tried opengl that he offered it was prettty laggy and the video quality was the same as before. tried libopenglplugin.so and it fc's.
sorry bat what is the word "borked" i don't mean it bad but i cant figure it out

Hehe, 'borked' on urban dictionary just means it broke or messed up. How do you get these other plugins? I don't mind running it at the other video modes but I'd like to get the Open GL one working since it looks so awesome!

Use ePSXe! It is much better!
Requires no setup in order to play games smoothly Give it a try
He's asking for settings for opengl graphics, he can run it fine on his normal settings, doesn't need a new emu.

Difference by changing BIOS:
On boot screen text changes - sometimes Trademark logo, sometimes Copyright
Different menu for memory card management.
FPS lock ---
by last number in bios
0 - Japan NTSC --- 60FPS SCPH-1000, ...
1 - USA NTSC --- 60FPS SCPH-1001, SCPH-101, ...
2 - Europe PAL --- 50FPS SCPH-1002, SCPH-7502, ...
best BIOS for using is SCPH-101 - its newest bios from PS One console - much smaller and rounded corners
and also use NTSC-U game ISO
I've always used the 1001 bios for my PS1 emulators. I've used both FPse and ePSXe and FPse is honestly smoother for me. I have never messed with the performance settings and its always ran good. I played through all of Metal Gear Solid on my tablet with no issues.
Side note: I've been playing Final Fantasy 7 lately. I had forgotten how fun that game is.
Is it normal for this device to lag when playing 3D games?
I understand that 3D games are quite resource intensive, but I expected better than this.
N.O.V.A 3 is almost unplayable, Modern Combat 3 suffers less lag than N.O.V.A but still a considerable amount, Mass Effect Infiltrator suffers huge lag spikes when multiple enemies are onscreen and even Monsters ate my Condo is lagging.
I am on stock touchwiz, not rooted. No custom kernel. Na-da.
Also, which may not have anything to do with this, the keyboard often lags in the messages (texting) app. Sometimes bad enough that I can watch the sentence finish itself. That's always fun, right?
Thanks in advanced to anyone who can give me any insight.

I know it will sound like a stupid question but can you make sure your power saving (from the statusbar widget) is not activated. I've notice lag on Nova Launcher while this was turned on even if I set the powersaving option not to affect CPU performance.

Thanks for a quick reply
And no, power saving mode is not on. I never activate this mode as every single task becomes extremely laggy D:
I would return this phone. This is no normal behavior. I played those game before rooting without a lag. I even downloaded torrent while playing without any lag. The phone heated up a little but hey it's a phone!

Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for; just some insight as to whether it's normal or not.
I'll look into whether I can get this sorted out. I've just gotta find the right way to get this covered by warranty or just pay a deductible for a new phone
Good thing I have an extended warranty!
Hi. This is my first post - I'm new to Android - this is my first Android phone and places like this and the people here and their work are why I switched.
(short version)
Can any Note2 gamers out there chime in on game performance? I am getting deal-breaking lag on any game I try (admittedly limited but including GTA3, MaxPayne and MAME).
(long version)
In the month or so I've had the phone I have rooted and unlocked it, used stock for a while and then went to Jelly Beans' ROM. I've run all the odd numbered versions of that rom, stock kernel, clean wipe every time. I've read the thread about the rom all the way through...
About a week ago I learned I could use a PS3 controller over USB natively for gaming and it worked right our of the box for games like GTA3 and Max Payne. I grabbed the games, and they seem to play great, but there is a noticeable audio lag - like 1/2 to a full second. The visuals seem to be smooth, and the controls seem to be responsive, but the audio lag makes games unplayable. I've only tried those two games pul some emulators, but both animaonline (SNES) and mame4droid (not reloaded) have the same audio lag issues. I get the lag over bluetooth and with wired headphones.
Some searching showed me that audio latency has been an issue with Android for a while, but also that Jelly Bean was supposed to fix that, and that higher end phones (like the note 2?!) had less of a problem. I also haven't seen any complaints from Note 2 owners regarding any of the games I mentioned.
I'm curious what others' experience has been with this. Thanks,

Bean's ROM is an rom that was ported so it was not made specifically for the Sprint GN2. THIS is probably your problem.
Hi everyone!
This is my first post, so I hope I'm not doing anything out of line.
I bought my daughter a SM-T210R from Costco a couple of weeks ago. She's 3, so she doesn't play any GPU intensive games.
Compared to the various Android phones I've used, the Tab 3, is quite slow when it comes to responsiveness even toggling from Netflix to Youtube or browser.
I'm looking to flash it with a custom ROM to make it snappier, but don't know which one I should pick.
We use the TAB for 3 primary functions:
- Netflix
- Youtube
- Web
Which ROM would you guys suggest?
Thanks in advance

Hi All,
Is anyone who is on OOS 3.2.6 as of now, please confirm if they are also experiencing game lags? Games like MC5 is performing like it did with old OnePlus One. Even game like C-Ops on which i used to get consistent 60+ fps is not stuttering at barely 25-30 fps. Just want to confirm that it's the app or a universal issue with this update.
I do not play that graphics intensive games, but the games i play is smooth like butter
3.2.7 literally came out just now. Oneplus fixed it.
I have only noticed it in Sky Force Reloaded. Let's hope 3.2.7 takes care of it.
Thanks! Will check and test it. Appreciate the response.
I have noticed it in both the FPS i play, MC5 and C-Ops. Will flash 3.2.7 and will check if it's fixed or not.
I have a big issue with that modern combat 5. After playing the first campaign mission, the game just freezes at the screen where I'm rewarded with an elite pack, and have to tap on the pack to open it.
When I do so, nothing happens and the game just hangs indefinitely. I've tried to get past/avoid that screen but to no avail. I've attached a screenshot below.
It's really exasperating being stuck on that first mission. Can anyone offer me a solution? ðŸ‘
I must say the MC5 has gone **** from being an awesome game. it was better when it was a paid app. now it's all full of ****ty ads everytime you even press back or select an option. But i love it anyways
I'm facinf an issue with 2 games in stock 3.2.8 , asphalt dealing with frames drops/slutters, and during modern combat the cores go crazy to MAX and the phone becoming hot to 446-48C. is this normal?
Welcome to Android gaming bruh! Here it laggs and there it thermals your device, it's really hard to find a balance.
