Nexus 5x Iranian Thread :) - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, When Nexus 5x 32GB will be available in Iran? Anybody knows? I can't wait anymore.

This question has a large political component to it, unfortunately.
Its hard to say, only recently has limited trade been allowed with Iran upon their compliance with the Nuclear Agreement. I have a feeling that Iran will start seeing a number of willing trade partners, and I have a feeling that China will be the biggest. South Korea (LG) is looking to increase trade with Iran, but they have a little bit of a balancing act to do. However, I don't know if the Nexus 5X being a Google (US) device will effect its trade as it is manufactured in South Korea.

I found N5X 32GB in Bazar Mobile, Hafiz st.

Surprised all big uk retailers don't have accessories.

Bought my nexus today, but was surprised to find that none of the big uk retail shops, carphone, phones4u, vodafone, 02,have any accessories for the galaxy nexus. Am I missing something?, cause the phone has been released a while back.?

Why would they, it's the same the world over, any decent and/or cool accessory might as well be a unicorn that will show up 12 weeks after you order it from some obscure website and pay $100 for shipping.
I don't think it's feasible for brick/mortar stores to carry many of these accessories since most consumers are generally happy with the "universal" junk and the devices change so quickly. Unfortunate, I agree.
One of the things we have to accept as Nexus users is that Nexus will never be mainstream phone heavy supported with acessories. It is obvious that the Nexus idea is not interesting to carriers and oems, since they cant fill it up with bloatware and it makes people wanting others phones to be upgraded for the last super-cool Android version.
This is my second Nexus phone and I dont plan to buy a non Nexus again, but I accepted the fact that I will be with the minotiry. Phones like the Samsung Galaxy S are much better for oems and carriers and will be much more marketed/supported.
Thanks the only problem is, I now have to wait for the accessories I ordered online, which will take days, that's the problem, even the corner shops, that sell all kinds of fake accessories, don't have a screen protector, and having owned my fair share share of smartphones, this is a first, not to find a single shop selling nexus specific screen protectors.

Evil Samsung Hong Kong, all Galaxy Nexus sold out, and stop restock (yakjuzs)

sorry for all first as my english is not good
Hong Kong have a very unfair galaxy nexus sales
(Hong Kong version is yakjuzs with chinese keyboard + Hong Kong warranty, not talking about import goods)
So i try to report the problem
Is it have anyway to contact google or this case have no chance to solve
one month ago, galaxy nexus sales at HKD 3698 about US476.47
it is quite cheap on one month ago
So many customers buy the phone and all nexus sold out very quick
NOW all main electronic store e.g. fortress, broadway, citicall(Suning) in HONG KONG
all of them said they will not restock, and some salesmen said galaxy nexus already stop production, WTF
I am not believe that , a phone just release in the world three or four month ago, stop production so quick?!
I try to contact Samsung Hong Kong though email and leave msg in Samsung Mobile Hong Kong 's facebook
but Samsung Hong Kong just ignore and never reply me
They don't respect customer and is samsung hk make a space for promote and sale GS3 in HONG KONG
don't lead the Nexus affect the sales of GS3????? i don't know
Hong Kong have a high smartphone user rate, if you go to MTR station,
most of people using their smartphone, apple iphone, android HTC, S2
Many people want to buy a Nexus, but it is out of stock now,
people in Hong Kong's fourm ask where can buy it everyday, but everyone don't which store have stock
Is there have anyway to contact google and help HONG KONG people buy Galaxy Nexus?
may be just sales the Nexus at play store like US
i don't know how to find google to report the problem in Hong Kong
Do anyone have idea, please help , hope Hong Kong have the stock again
or the sales are basic on Samsung Hong Kong
and this problem will never solve

Lol, I actually enjoyed the story. But, seriously. Can you not buy one direct from Google or from outside of Hong Kong? Is HK not GSM?
I mean I can see why its frustrating, but you can't be mad if they stop stocking a poor selling phone for a guaranteed higher selling phone. It's been out for 6 months, not 3 or 4. It's "old news" to some retailers (as if it was news in the first place).
There are plenty of importers that would be happy to send you one. And the prices are down now that the Galaxy Nexus is for sale in the Play Store for $399.
I'm in HK and I have a brand new GNexus for sale. Contact me if you're interested.
I was just there earlier this week and I saw GNex on every cellphone shop that I visited??

I know... re-read my post. I said that importers are selling them, and prices are down because the Play Store is selling them.

How do you not understand that? Serious reading comprehension fail. Read the first sentence, then the second sentence. It makes sense.
Prices are down because the Play Store has lowered the general price of the phone (pretty much flooding the market + increasing supply). Go look at importers websites. They've all slashed their prices down to the $400-$450 range.

oh sorry i have not mention
I am talk talking about official HONK KONG galaxy nexus which is yakjuzs (not yakju) with a stock chinese keyboard
Hong Kong people usually prefer buy a phone with warranty
import goods always can restock as they just ship to hong kong from the rest of the world
people buy import goods if they want to get a cheaper price (mostly import goods store do not provide warrantly, unless you pay all the repair charge)
MongKok is one of main place sell import goods e.g. "Sin Tat Plaza"
if you go to main electronic store e.g. fortess, broadway, citicall(Suning) in monkok (they don't sell import goods), you cannot find a hong kong galaxy nexus
if you talk about import goods
the import galaxy nexus is about HKD3000-3200(i9250/SC-04D japan version) in hong kong
about US386-US412
Import goods warranty are not like USA, store are not guarantee that unless you pay all charges and may wait a long time
hong kong warranty may get it back within one days (unless the parts is out of stock)

import version or hk version?
Why do you need a HK keyboard? Just get one from Expansys and add one in yourself?
I have a HK one but ended up moving to yakju anyway.

just restore back yakjuzs and send back samsung hong kong
import goods store in hong kong do not provide free warranty
all i really care about is when are they going to have OTA update to 4.0.4 on yakjuzs! It has been a long time and the only difference is the Chinese keyboard!

[Q] Travelling to China - Buy phones there?

I have at&t here at home and I'm wondering, if I was shopping in china, what band is At&t so if I see a phone htere i like I can bring it home and use it.
Thanks!
Also my at&t atrix is unlocked, do you think it will work in china with a local SIM?
Thanks!

Dear friend, the unlocked versions of AT&T, Verizon, Orange and T-Mobile are all available for purchase in China but not so legally though, [yet overpriced for the risk the people take].
That being said, I hope what you have in hand should definitely be able to work in China.
If you are going for just a visit, you may not be able to find any blackmarket dealers unless you or any of your friends are good in speaking Chinese.
I you want to buy something legally from china then you have to pay extra money compared to the US,Canada or Europe.
For eg; if something costs around 700$ in US, you would have to spend around 900$ if you buy it from china. This applies to almost all smartphones and tablets from most popular brands except may be huawei, zte and oppo.
Beware, Chinese are good in KIRFs so be careful when you purchase things.
I suggest you buy smartphones and tablets from your home country, that way you could avail warranty.
If you are looking for non branded phones for use around < 1 year, then go for any Chinese local brand.
I know I wouldn't do that.
Decide for yourself, still having doubts, feel free to ask.
first of all, att's unlocked phones WILL work in china.
secondly,
most of the phone sold in chinawill work on att's and t-mobile's network.
just dont buy the China Mobile's G3 phones it won't work in USA.
i recommend buying the xiaomi2, or the meizu mx2.

If I buy a Tab S in the US and sent it to myself in Europe?

I am thinking about buying a Tab S in the US and having it sent to me in Europe because even with shipping it is significantly cheaper than buying here. (Nice little Samsung pricing scam: $399 in US and 399 euros here - a 35% difference!!!!) Is there likely to be a warranty problem OR, more importantly, activation or OS upgrade issues, IMEI or CSC problems? I know it can sometimes be a problem with activations on their phones if they are activated out-of-region.
arent most electronics more expensive in europe though? im thinking of buying from amazon too but only for non-LTE one.
the tab s is currently being sold in bahrain only the LTE version and as im a cheapskate i'll wait for the wifi versions in saudi
Warranty could be an issue as you would probably have to send it to the States for service. I purchased the Hong Kong version of the 7.7 and received what updates there were without any problems. Activation was not a problem either other than the opening screen being in Chinese.

They seem more expensive here, but as I pointed out 399 in dollars and 399 in euros. It's like Samsung doesn't really want price parity. I should have said I want the wifi only, so I don't know if activation, IMEI and CSC matter.
I dont know the Greek rules.
But if I was to ship it to the Netherlands I would have to pay
Initial purchase (no sales tax)
Shipping
Import tax
Sales tax over purchase price and shipping (21%)
Import handeling fee for your shipper (UPS, Fedex??)
A quick calculation shows I finnaly would have to pay 415 euros. Hardly a bargain.
If you send as a personal item / used electronics / (ahem) warranty repair [emoji12], all those problems go away - at least here. The one thing you do not do is send in an unopened factory box so they do not think you just bought it.
I live in France, I bought my Tab S 10.5 LTE on an Italian website.
I called Samsung France. The warranty is European, not worldwide. No problem for me.
The tab cost 100€ less than in France.
With shipping fees, I paid 512€ instead of 600€ in France.
Cool. What's the Italian site?
www.hw1.it
They only have the LTE version in Italy, no wifi only.
The price of the tab S offered on the italian site, with 3g/4g, is the same at the wifi-only version everywhere else. So, I am thinking, why not buy the 3g/4g+wifi. I never have to use the data connection, but if I ever desparately need 3g/4g, I can drop a SIM card into it. Hmmm. not a bad idea at all.
I bought my Tab S on the day of release in the US and walked back into the UK with it saving about 100 quid. I have added my device to my Samsung devices page and entered the serial number with no issues so guessing that as long as they don't want a receipt of purchase then warranty should not be an issue.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
When I asked Samsung France about European warranty, they answered me "As long as you have the bill/receipt, it is ok, your Italian tablet is under warranty in France too"

I want to buy the 8.4 lte unit as it is the same price as the wifi only version elsewhere, but I find it a little discomforting that the price is 100 euros cheaper than it will be offered elsewhere. Should I be concerned about the product this website is offering?
I'm not sure to understand your word...
Yes I bought the LTE version on this Italian website same price than wifi version in France, and I'm very happy with it.
I was in holiday this week, far from any wifi access point, I was very happy to have the LTE version (with my multi sim data plan).
Price in France for wifi version : http://www.materiel.net/tablette-tactile/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-blanc-105481.html
Price in Italy for LTE version : http://www.hw1.it/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-10-5-sm-t805ntsaitv/
Take the 8.4inch, for example. The French site's price for the wifi-only tablet is the normally suggested 399 euro price. The wifi/4g-lte version is recommended to sell for 499 euros in Europe. But the Italian site is selling that one for 399 euros - a 100 euros discount (discount similar to the 10.5 inch prices). So my question is: are you satisfied with product you got from the Italian site because I think the price is quite low compared to what it is "supposed" to be.
Well it seems the price is normal in Italy, if you check some comparing Italian websites.
Yes I couldn't be more satisfied, I really recommend this website.
I asked some info in English by mail, they called me on my phone to confirm the tracking number of the package...
I was afraid when I paid, but now I'm very happy.

I choosed hw1.it because they ship in France.

I am from Austria also tinking about ordering eg. at Amazon.it to have 30 days trial (cant be ordered in Germany from Austria right now) ...
Is it ok to flash an Austian Version e.g. CSC: T705ATO1ANF1 ???
1 will knox be triggered ?
2 is there any difference regarding GSM/LTE frequency bands or do all european devices have the same circuit boards ? One can look this up e.g. with myphoneexplorer (\System\build.prop Austria: ro.product.board=universal5420)

[NVM] Any Australian 7T HD190x users ... ?

I'm very seriously considering buying an HD1905 on the US OnePlus site, they've got a decent discount as the 8 is about to launch, and I can grab genuine accessories at the same time. Shame the AUD is so crap right now, but that can't be helped.
I'm interested to know if there are OP7T Australian owners out there, what model variant, what carriers you're on, and if there are any issues with reception.
I'm on Telstra so I'm especially interested to hear from other Telstra users.
I've looked at the various bands in the specs, compared it to the OzTowers guide (that I luckily managed to grab before it shut down), and also looked at frequencycheck.com
My preference is to buy it from OnePlus US. While there are a bunch of "local websites" that purport to sell re-flashed HD1900 units as "Global HD1903", I would much rather get an untouched phone out of the box. The US HD1905 seems to have the broadest international carrier band support from what I can divine from reading.
One of the "local websites" says to email them any questions. So I did and the answers were basically "dunno, ask the carrier" which is pointless since OnePlus have no presence in Australia.
Despite having many Samsung Galaxies over the years I've decided not to consider them. Our Huawei P20 Pro has been good but tech support is hopeless, and no bootloader unlock service anymore, that alone rules them out for me.
So the OnePlus 7T is my preferred choice ... looking forward to hearing from any Aussie users out there.
My friend wanted the 'best phone for the money' and bought this phone on my advice. They ship them from China, but it arrived the next day! They happened to have one in stock in Auckland.
My friend was thrilled but when a truck ran over it (after 3 weeks), not so.
So she's around the next morning and buys another one (~NZ$860). This time it took about a month to arrive as THE VIRUS slowed everything to a trickle.
We have a great website in NZ pricespy.co.nz and you'll have something like that in Oz.
Buying from the US is fraught. Postage costs an arm and a leg.

Thanks for the feedback, I've actually just bought a Galaxy S20 from JB as they had a decent discount for a newly released phone. The deciding factors against the OnePlus on this occasion was the total lack of Australian support, lack of IP68, the many negative service/warranty related user reviews on different sites selling them, and the idea that I'd be facing massive turnaround to ship it back to the US for warranty.
Shipping from the US isn't a problem for me as I regularly send consolidated packages through a 3rd party shipper.
Plus in these uncertain times we're making an effort to support the local outlets.
