I just have to wonder, how you made it to XDA, and then in the general forum, managed to scroll past the resources, roms, and kernels sticky thread and posted this.
That's like standing under a waterfall and being like "yo, where is the water?"

I traded in my rooted phone because I had issues with the headphone port and t-mobile didn't care about Knox tripped.
you won't miss out on much warranty coverage if you root your phone.
if you're that paranoid, rooting's not for you mate

I know its only been a day since its been released, but does anyone know if it will be possible to still root 4.4.2 without tripping KNOX? And yes I know I can just trip KNOX, but I own my phone and when I go to sell it, I want KNOX still at 0x0 since some people actually need it for their jobs. Thanks in advance.

Well, KNOX will be tripped regardless if rooting, custom kernel, or custom recovery.

Any with KNOX 0x0 try this yet? There is another thread saying he did it with a special bootloader file, but not seen proof yet.

Correct. But it is also possible to inject a kernel if a bootloader unlock isn't available.
You can download the stock boot.img from here:

Rooting trips knox. By the time you get here you've already made your peace with that
Modified builds are uploading now. The stockish backups will be compiled later tonight.

Thank you for the quick reply. Haha I figured as much but they way the post is set up, it seemed like you could use heimdall to flash it. Knew it was too good to be true yet! Awesome work getting it set up already though
The fact that there's something posted in the development section for this phone gives me some hope that we'll achieve root soon.

Just to prevent any false hope, the configuration for the kernel was included with the T-Mobile version of the source so that is what made porting it so quickly possible. Root may not be as easy. I do hope it is, though.

Ok sorry in advance for seeming like a noob... I haven't rooted an android device since the galaxy prevail years ago.... I currently have a sprint galaxy s6 ( BOL1 UPDATE) and I have been looking for how to root it but either I'm missing something or I haven't seen any root specific posts regarding the BOL1 UPDATE... I just want to be safe before flashing anything so any guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated...

Might be time. I would want to bring in @JoeFCaputo113 who created the original guide that we all used to get started.
Joe, a lot of people are asking if the same methods work for OL1. (They do, but people ask.)
And we can address using the new SuperSU (which Joe originally posted about) as well.
Thoughts?

First of all you're in the wrong thread, this is for AT&T devices and your SM-N920V is a Verizon device which cannot be rooted as of yet and I suggest you use the Verizon thread to avoid confusing people and flashing stuff for the wrong device.
Ii belive users were waiting for an update and if they made the update available to download away from the phone. Update was required so users could build a root for att galaxy note 5. From what I read

Yes ive tried every thing there is no stable root method I mean you can[kind of] if you haven't updated to marshmallow. Im unlocked and using tmobil but you dont get the aws bands so service isnt as good as a legit tmobil phone.
I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this thread.

Now I'm looking for a Custom ROM for it. Any suggestions?

Agree, truly is sad that we cannot run custom software on the S8+. Just bet it would scream with some well made custom. I am thinking about jumping to the OnePlus 5t when it comes out this month. If they stay true to previous releases the boot loader should be unlocked and from a quick XDA search there seems to be a pretty good developer community. Just hate ole Sammy is becoming more like crapple everyday.
