Ok sorry in advance for seeming like a noob... I haven't rooted an android device since the galaxy prevail years ago.... I currently have a sprint galaxy s6 ( BOL1 UPDATE) and I have been looking for how to root it but either I'm missing something or I haven't seen any root specific posts regarding the BOL1 UPDATE... I just want to be safe before flashing anything so any guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated...
Unikernel or Systemless Root with the new SuperSU will work.

Might be time. I would want to bring in @JoeFCaputo113 who created the original guide that we all used to get started.
Joe, a lot of people are asking if the same methods work for OL1. (They do, but people ask.)
And we can address using the new SuperSU (which Joe originally posted about) as well.
Thoughts?

I'm not very knowledgeable on kernels, but don't we need root for this?

Correct. But it is also possible to inject a kernel if a bootloader unlock isn't available.
You can download the stock boot.img from here:

Rooting trips knox. By the time you get here you've already made your peace with that
Modified builds are uploading now. The stockish backups will be compiled later tonight.

Thank you for the quick reply. Haha I figured as much but they way the post is set up, it seemed like you could use heimdall to flash it. Knew it was too good to be true yet! Awesome work getting it set up already though
The fact that there's something posted in the development section for this phone gives me some hope that we'll achieve root soon.

Just to prevent any false hope, the configuration for the kernel was included with the T-Mobile version of the source so that is what made porting it so quickly possible. Root may not be as easy. I do hope it is, though.

With the prerequisites (rooted, working Heimdall / copy of flashify), yes
There is a root method for the At&t Note 4 now?
Has anyone tried any methods on the G4? I havn't found any specific information for this device other than somebody saying it can be done.
Z4root?
Wondershare?
iRoot?
1. i dont think anyone tried any of those, brcause the devs saying that there is no root yet
2. if you want you can try it out
Someone in the AT&T forum tried oneclickroot.com and his phone is bricked. If there was root available for any variant other than the 815, we would all be rooting right now.

Well put. And the devs. Are currently working on trying to simplify for people to root, and less chances of people bricking their phone. So we just have to be patient and let the devs do what they are good at. Once they figure it out it will be all over xda. Until then lets just be patient.

Still the safest and THE only safe source of rooting IS XDA. Don't linger around on other weird 'we root all' apps/sites!
Hi All,
I'm new to the xda forums and hopefully not posting this incorrectly.
I was wondering if there's a root available for my G4 H812?
Thanks in advance!
Did you mean H812 because, I don't think there is any LG H912 available?

Welcome! Good news, there is root for your device. I will direct you to our little thread which can be found in either my signature or here in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/canadian-guide-complete-source-lg-g4-t3212449
It is a work in progress, so if you have any contributions or questions, feel free to ask!
Thank you, Spudnubs. @imarcel99 you're right, I meant the 812 ☺
I presume that you are from Canada and you're using H812. If that's so then please check out this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/canadian-guide-complete-source-lg-g4-t3212449
I sure am. I'll check out the three for sure. I miss having a nexus phone...so much easier

Agreed. This is pretty easy though, just a ton of steps.
I have a Bell H812, and I went with the Telus 10g kdz image, then the rooted.
Since I am a Rogers customer, I then went with the Rogers 10h kdz image, then the rooted 10h image.
xposed v45 sdk22 installed using flashfire (you have to sign up for the beta to be able to install it), and then gravitybox and my G4 is pretty happy. I miss custom roms since they incorporated some stuff that isn't in gravitybox but it's minor things.
Main thing to do is to read the threads carefully and not to get ahead of yourself.
Good luck!
Thanks goofball2k. I'll give it a shot this weekend and hopefully I don't mess it up ☺

The thing with using the LG Flash tool is there is a popup that comes up soon after it starts flashing. Ignore that window and then pay attention to the progress window, it took about 4-5 min on mine to finish. It should reboot by itself after it has completed.
For me, I really had to pay attention to step 5.
On the page you opened in step 2, follow steps 1,2,3,6,7,8,and 9 on that page only, then come back here.
Ensure that on step 9, you use the right COM port.

The step to flash the rooted image is key as well, since you have the H812
dd if=/data/media/0/rootedsystem.img bs=8192 seek=65536 count=548352 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0

Then the key is patience.
If you do the xposed install using flashfire, you really need to have patience and make sure the phone is charged.
Just wondering why this version is so much different to root when compared to the US variants.
Hey guys I've just decided that i wanted to root this phone after my first attempt months again resulted in a hard brick ? so i need a little help all i want is a stock rooted rom because all i really want is the hotspot hack
Running 920p 6.0.1

If anyone could help me that would be awesome

By the way, under our names is a "Thanks" button. Feel free to click that if someone helps you.
Going to close this thread since you're being helped elsewhere. No need to have the same discussion in 2 different places.
Can someone please help me with this. I bought 2 of these phones at the same time in august, one was already rooted from the factory! No problem I'm using lucky patcher and all. The other will not root not matter what I do! I cant find any solid info on this.

Can you screen shot your kernel information in settings and then about phone so I can see what it says for the rooted kernel. And copying the entire system to use it on the other phone is possible. Just depends on certain things.
I guess I should of bought a rooted one myself...........
think that no one has the root yet on this phone, so, pay attention to the instructions that forum masters will give to you. You could be a HERO for the entire Sm-n920a community and users hahahah. Btw, i don't know your knowledge about this things but yes, is possible to do this. Obvious, when someone of the biggest users will teach you how to do what you need, you could share the system clone with us!
Not to mention there's a big donation for anyone that finds a root method. So if you really have a rooted at&t note 5 there could be money coming your way.

I could of sworn I seen a bounty for the n920a like a year ago, but now I'm not finding anything. I should look before I comment apparently. However, much respect TechNyne66. I've been following you working a root method for a while now, and great job on being close.

Do you have a username? I got another member to join in again who says he knows how to complie kernels with ease. So lets hope this gets going! Everything is layed out we just need to get the code written. Remember anything is possible when you put you're mind to it, but this is with code. Kexec has worked in the past for locked bootloaders so I don't see why my notes in theory but plausible.

I shall look into it.
Can we get a system dump of your partitions? We just need your kernel zImage and I can put it together.
I'd really like to see a dump of the system partition.
Follow a guide a make a full system dump of your rooted phone and then make a nandroid backup.
Upload it to us and we can make a clone. Please!
If you have a real full root. We need your system dump to unlock at&t and Verizon both.

Chill bro I'm working on getting it from him. I've seen accident eng phones released by Samsung before so maybe it happened again.
There's no root for AT&T Note 5 SM-N920A if you are running Marshmallow with the Nov security update! If you are on this version you are screwedededed!!!! I tried every type of way to install firmwares PH4 ==> PH2 and I tried every version of firmware I could find on this planet. I have tried OGG. I have tried crashing my installation, then trying to downgrade.
Long story short; If you have an unlocked SM-N920A running Android 6.01 with Nov Security Patch I will definitely be donating to you if you upload. If you aren't a member of this forum I promise you that you are safe. The guys here will help you make a copy of the firmware which will not include your personal information. (Look for the guys with lots of Thanks, listen to them)
So if you are coming in from Google and you are wondering if you can root or downgrade now you know that you can't. I'm a beginner Android Developer who follows directions like a champion, save your time trying to downgrade it is fully blocked by the bootloader.
unlocked SM-920A upload coming soon
