S3 as Kodi media player - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey guys.
As the title says, this phone has been sitting around the house, and I would like to turn it into a media player.
Basically I just want to run Kodi and some emulators on it through mhl.
So I would like to make it as little battery consuming as possible.
So I thought the best thing to do is ask you regular s3 users what do you think is less battery consuming.
Stock or Vanilla.
Also, with the thought in mind that this will only be a media player, any tips and tricks on how to save resources, or any ROM you guys think is better then Stock or Vanilla, or any other input will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounded pretty logical to me
So your having a lot of media served to you, and your wondering what Media Server is and why its consuming your battery?

choppy streaming

couple of questions about streaming to the gio. which program works best and with which settings? i have real problems when streaming anything other than low res avi files. cant seem to get the transcoding options right on the pc end. also is there a player thats best for it? what causes the choppyness? is it the cpu more than the video hardware on the phone? i've tried stopping all running apps in the background and its still not smooth. any suggestions aside from manually converting every file? its gotten to where im almost ready to get another more powerful phone. i've tried several roms hoping for some sort of hardware acceleration but havent had much luck.

Which rom are you using, if you are on cm9 or 10 I understand that streaming won't be that good. but if you are on stock rom or something like Enhanced236 it's indeed weird. I got a few tips if that's the case. Try using MX Player, overclock your device when your watching a video (min:800 max:800), download the video instead of streaming it, trying to watch something in 1080p only will be rough on your phone, try converting the video to 320x480.

yeah i've been converting lately. seems easiest to just change resolution doesnt take long with handbrake. still would be nice if it was automatic plug and play. currently using enhanced rom. will try stock rom though just to see.

Dinc'y music help?

So, I'm planning on turning my Dinc into a music player for my best friend, whose old Zune is dying a slow death. So, I'm looking for suggestions on the best widgets and apps to load to give her easy access to play lists and players with a minimum of fuss. Widgets and apps should preferably be compatible with windows media player, as that's what she uses the most.
at the moment I intend to send it out with Tiny's CM10 on it, but any music-centered rom suggestions are also welcome, but mainly looking at the widgets and apps for media.

I am currently using google music player.does anyone know where does it saves the playlist. I want to make a backup of that.
I am thinking of buying poweramp. Does it consumes more battery than other music players??

PowerAMP is the best player you'll find for android. Go ahead with your purchase.
Enjoy

Does it drain more battery thats my question. And does anyone knows wherevdoes google music player stores the playlist?
I don't believe PA uses more battery than Gmusic, but it's possible, although I haven't noticed a difference. I am extremely happy with PA, it sounds better than most other players, and is extremely customizable.

I searched for many hours on how to back up playlist you made on your phone and its possible but rather difficult.
Use an app called playlist backup to save new playlist but you can't retrieve the one you made on google play music..at least to my knowledge

Fast audio playback?

Hi!
I've been using Android for three years but not once have I encountered a problem like this...
So basically all the music I throw at the device(internet streams like YouTube and GrooveShark) are playing back at a faster rate than they should be. GrooveShark is the worst, it plays back at like 10x speed, YouTube(YT for TV and uListen) play the music and videos much slower, like 120% speed, but still noticably faster than it does on other devices.
When I look at the timestamp(the seek bar or whatever) I can see that the seconds pass much faster than they should.
I have no idea what's going on. Currently running CM10 but also occurs on stock. OUYA is not overclocked and changing the processor settings doesn't fix anything...
Thanks if someone can help.

So it is common. That sucks. But then again so does the official firmware... Hopefully there'll be a fix some day.
