Fast audio playback? - Ouya Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I've been using Android for three years but not once have I encountered a problem like this...
So basically all the music I throw at the device(internet streams like YouTube and GrooveShark) are playing back at a faster rate than they should be. GrooveShark is the worst, it plays back at like 10x speed, YouTube(YT for TV and uListen) play the music and videos much slower, like 120% speed, but still noticably faster than it does on other devices.
When I look at the timestamp(the seek bar or whatever) I can see that the seconds pass much faster than they should.
I have no idea what's going on. Currently running CM10 but also occurs on stock. OUYA is not overclocked and changing the processor settings doesn't fix anything...
Thanks if someone can help.

That's a bug in cm10. It makes me sad.

So it is common. That sucks. But then again so does the official firmware... Hopefully there'll be a fix some day.

Wow you're able to play 720p movies? I get lag with each video player out there. Rockerplayer, vplayer, arc.. but dvd quality runs perfect.
CM7 nightly 20 oc'd to 1.4ghz.

no like i said i cannot run 720p movies so there is no solution for this ?
The.Simpsons.S22E11.720p.HDTV.X264-DIMENSION
^Did you get that from the pirate bay? Shame on you.
Try an overclock it should help some. I stream 720p flash movies and they actually perform quite well at 1.516Mhz performance, but it does overheat after a while. If you are not rooted and OC is not an option, You might have to convert the file to 480X800 to get it to play smooth. Be warned though that this can take from 20 minutes to 6 hours depending on the speed of your computer, and results in image quality loss.
If you ever get out of sync issues, just jump back a few seconds and it will resync itself. For flash movies I usually resync it every 15 minutes or so.

/careface?
anyway its to bad it cannot play 720p properly and i have no plans on rooting and oc
You can try Act 1, I have had it play a few formats the others wouldnt...I like Rockplayer, Vplayer not so much. Meridian is another good video player.
Try arcMedia
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
ya arc media is pretty good
If anyone is still looking for more video player choices, Vital Player seems pretty good. Either pretty new, or I just haven't found it before. Good interface, seems compatible with lots of my videos, and automatically selects software or hardware decoding based on the video (without having to select or toggle like Rock Player). I've seen some complaints in the Market reviews about the free version showing ads during video playback. But I haven't seen this. I have AdFree running, so it seems to be doing its job. Also, Vital Player is not yet compatible with Gingerbread, so it doesn't work on CM7.
Since I've switched to CM7, its Rock Player for me. It plays almost everything I've thrown at it, without lag. vPlayer lagged like crazy for me on some videos. ArcMedia has lots of things I didn't like about the interface, and lagged on some WMV files.
I've been using the stock video player since day one when I got my G2. I play all my videos at 720P after converting to .mp4 using handbrake. No lag issues at all.

Stuttering live video....WTF

I'm quite dissappointed in my phone today. I go to watch the masters live on cbs and the video is stuttering but audio was perfect.so my buddy next to me whips out his iphone and goes to the same site and his is flawless. I have since tried on wifi, with stock browser, dolphin hd, opera and firefox still no and actually stock and firefox will not even show the player at all. I also oc'ed just for the situation and changed governor to ondemand and it is still stuttering video. Wtf why is this and is there a fix?
Sigh
What ROM are you on?
What kernel are you on?
How long have you been on this ROM?
Have you tried supercharging it?
Clean gb mtd been on it forever. Why supercharge this should not be an issue at all. It is only this site that I am seeing an issue with. Not youtube or any other video. But still iphone did it flawess that's not acceptable to me sigh

Apparently it is an issue. Maybe CleanGB is set to render on hardware and it's not doing so well. Maybe it's not and vice versa.
Try wiping dalvik and cache. And supercharging.
Or maybe switch off the extremely outdated TW software.

I was thinking more like a codec and it was optimized for iphone but to test properly here is the link. Report your results and rom & kernel.
http://www.cbssports.com/video/player/masters-live
I just flashed the peoples rom the included kernel is shadow kernel. It still stutters on that video. So I think that confirms its a codec issue.
*edit* also now I just seen when the player opened it said video not supported for mobile so that makes the codec a lot more viable.
I also had stuttering onMIUIGB just to confirm, I actually ended up watching the whole thing lol

I also have the similar problem but only while playing Youtube videos. When I use MX Player for videos stored on phone there is no such problem. Try watching the same video on the youtube website on the browser.

I have thoose issues but only when using any equalizer app.
Im using viper rom i have this bs problem also on my 3rd one x in less than a month now

The only solutions that comes to mind are the stuttering issue while beats (eq) is active (turn it off completely), or the CPU that is running on a too low clockrate/voltage.
Furthermore have you guys tried a hard reset ? Maybe there are some rogue apps running in the background and clogging up your memory/CPU resources.
The only time I experienced such issue was when I ran the older firmware versions with the beats stuttering bug, or when my phone didn't have enough resources left to do the job
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
My phone does not do this with beats active. You might need to update your phone. If you want to return it I would now as I can't imagine there will be a new software update coming out in the foreseeable future.

Video playback stuttering + few question

I have a problem with almost any video on hox including youtube. So far I tried x264 and divx. It also happens in youtube app... It feels like the cpu isn't catching up... Like its always on low clock speed. Any idea how to fix it?
4.0.4 with sense (unrooted)
Btw, what are the advantages and disadvantages of putting vanilla android on hox instead of the factory sense version? I'm pretty new in android world so i'm still catching things up...
Thanks!
maybe the cores really are not picking up... install CPU Stats or Micro CPU Monitor from Play Store so you can check your CPU while playing movies.
If there are problems with the cores, you should check your warrenty
Btw. Maybe another process is using the cores, so movies are stuttering.
Already had micro cpu. Thete is only one core active while playing video or watching youtube. And if it gets to 100% the second core won't activate. However, while playing games or using chrome, multiple cores are normally activated.

Xperia S JB's doomlord leak:music stuttering

Hello guys,as per title i'm experiencing music stuttering even on JB(given that it might be the leak's fault as it isn't complete yet)the same as ICS(meaning stuttering with FB browsing twitter ecc ecc) but the multitasking is improved beyong possible and anything is perfect,i really don't know what to think.
I didn't posted this in the leak thread because it's so crowded my post wouldn't even be read.
thank for the help(if there's any)
cheers
Dave
Walkman is really heavy. When I was light running the leak (read it: only a few essential apps installed) no stutters at all (and I mean it: not a single stutter), maybe the music stopped playing due low RAM but that was it. With Walkman and PowerAMP, sutter is almost gone.
"almost gone">that's what i don't get. My friend's xperia sola doesn't have this kind of problems neither my 2010 desire hd do.
On top of that the free ram now is like doubled on jb so i don't understand how can the music player stutter.
Thanks for the help though i'm trying to use Gplay music let's see if anything change.

yes i get what "almost gone" mean,i just don't get how a dual core 1(not quite)gb of ram device has stuttering problem and a 2 years old phone(desire HD)doesn't.
Neutron Music Player
I'm using Neutron Music Player on my XPERIA LT26i with Leaked JB 4.1.2 and I have no problems that I can hear.
Even when the screen is off the player is fine and doesn't lose focus.
Don't even need a SetCPU profile to maintain priority as Neutron Music Play must(haven't really checked) lock in a 'required' CPU frequency to support continued and smooth playback, thus overriding lower screen-off CPU frequencies.
Google Play downloaded music plays at 64bit(indicated???) and 320KB/sec and I don't remember hearing anything odd,
Most of my wav and flac music (16 -24bit) streamed off my NAS sounds fine.
I stream 720p TV and videos(mkv H264,AC3) using BSPlayer from my NAS and they play without any lag or 'stutters' and with videos, you'd hear/see anything odd pretty quickly.
AND all this is with the default leaked JB CPU governors(ondemand) and scheduler(cfq).
Think what we could have when DoomLord and others go wild with bespoke Kernels.
I have approx 240 - 300MB of memory available
I've removed about 70 system apps/bloatware.
Calendar, Mail, WhatsApp are the only network background service processes I have running.
I'd probably delete the supplied Sony Music player on released JB version if that doesn't present any problems as I never use it.
The XPERIA S with Leaked JB seems, in general, to be very responsive with no lag, that I've noticed.
I have an XPERIA X10i v2.3 and even over-clocked it still has issues with lag. BUT, again with Neutron Music Player and a 64GB microSD card music is fine on an XPERIA X10i,
So, with music, I'd suggest, the limitation of a given Android device could be compensated with a good Music application.
I note on leaked XPERIA S JB 4.1 that the music player currently being used has focus on the lock screen and that could be Neutron Music Player or XiiaLive Internet Radio player. Very handy for quick music control of the active player directly from the lock screen.
Currently listening to music while 16 app are open (fb tweet 2 browser ecc)with neutron music player and everything looks fine for now. I want to try using walkman app to see if it's the same.
Tried gplay music and NMP with the same opened app and no stutters with nmp i'll try it for a few days thanks for the help for now

Even super low end Samsung Galaxy Y that my friend use doesn't have shuttering problem in music player. .ZZZZzzzzz
I think something is wrong with NXT series apps..
My friends Arc don't have this problem in Stock ICS but when he rooted n flashed NXT series apps like Walkman n all, music shuttering started just like my XS.. We can blame the Walkman app in my friend's case but every other music app is having shuttering problem (same as XS) since he flashed it... Something is wrong..
Precisely my point! even low end devices don't stutter (not that i know of).
I don't know who(or what) to blame though as i tried flashing cyanogen mod and p.a.c but no luck, stutter was always there no matter what.
Cheers
Dave
