Stock Rom flashing without pc? - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i flash the stock rom with twrp or only with pc? I dont find a stock rom for flashing with twrp.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5X mit Tapatalk

Of course you can flash a stock rom with twrp No pc. Most if not all developers usually offer a stock version maybe just debloated some .
But that doesn't make the device Truly stock.
You would have to fastboot adb flash the stock firmware after relocking the bootloader making it out the box stock.
You can still flash a zip or .img from flashify app which means you can unroot without a pc by flashing stock recovery.img
Then choose full unroot inside SuperSU then factory reset device within the settings menu all with no Pc.
If your doing this already on stock rom and stock kernel the unroot will stick
If you do this on a custom rom or kernel it may auto reroot\install SuperSU.

OR better yet download it all stock and flash in twrp.
This is stock rom meaning Rom only roms dont flash stock recovery only the O.S This rom is from Android dev section you'd seen it if you looked in the rom section
It's pure stock 6.0.1 you must have already been on 6.0.1 firmware update not 6.0 otherwise you need the newer boot.IMG to get it to boot up.
Providing You were on 6.0.1 Now have a stock rom "BUT" still will have custom recovery after this flash because its non rooted Rom.
So now the catch 22 is that you can't flashify the stock recovery.img from flashify app without a pc at this point because there is no SuperSU root until you fastboot adb stock 6.0.1 recovery.img with a PC.

will this also reset the binary counter to use for warranty service, currently my after rooting is showing as custom for both binary and rom in the counter..
This doesn't work
Hi,
I tried the following steps. After stock recovery, under download menu, I see everything as Official. When I try to reboot under recovery. I only see a blank black screen. So this doesn't work.
Regards,
Francis.
This didn't work for me! Neither did it change the custom status of binary, nor did it allow me to update firmware!

Samsung has just released OTA update for stability, tried to return things to stock by your method without luck, thank you anyway
This method didn't work for me, too. I flashed custom modem before. Is it problem?

Yes I flashed the stock kernel and then stock recovery. It just gave me a blank screen with the recovery menu.
I got mine to stock and official status by flashing stock recovery only, and I am still rooted although the system status is official and get OTA updates normally
The only and sure way of restoring back to stock, removing root, changing the device status back to Official and to reset the binary counter is to download and flash official firmwares manually via Odin. I've done it myself and this is the only known way so far of reverting everything back to stock, even without wipe

Restore the Stock Recovery
I had downloaded the stock FW from samfirware (the 1.7 GB) and flashed it back
the mobile now is official, installed the OTA and re-rooted again
PS: I didn't lose any of my apps on all these steps

If you download the official ROM from Samsung you don't need to do anything before flashing it. Just enter download mode and flash the Samsung ROM in ODIN. The official ROMs have the stock recovery, stock kernel, and stock ROM all in one package. I can also confirm that this resets your binary counter and you status changes to "Official" both in download mode and in "Phone Info".

Yes, they are none wipe. But some people can't get official status until after they wipe the user data and cache in stock recovery.

Steps to TWRP

Im on Z008 2.19.40.12_20150612 I cant seem to flash twrp no matter how hard I try. Im rooted and unlocked BL. Is fastboot easiest way or sideload or from twrp manager? Does someone have the download link of which IMG I would need?
Check the General resources thread, you might have to upgrade your stock firmware version.
Download twrp manager from app store. Use that.

I see the new one is 2.20.40.63 what would be the right twrp img file to flash?

You must be on 2.19.40.18 - 2.19.40.22 to unlock your bootloader. Only after unlocking your bootloader can you flash TWRP onto your phone permanently...
Go to general section and check out the 1st stickied post, it will give you the info you need to do this...

TWRP officially support Zenfone 2 (551ML) so get from there....
I'm 550 ml now what? Can anyone just send me a link to the right img?

I'd use untethered Twrp then flash, but that's me.
Twrp manager automatically picks the right recovery.

Yes...

It has begun!

I have been checking the wifes phone every morning for the last month. Looks like the Marshmallow update is about 1.3 gigs. I have no idea if it will be bug free, but I imagine it will be stable. Now, for those reading this, that are confused and on a stock ROM, go to settings, about device, and then software update.
It's working great so far..

No need to bother with kernels it's not needed to ROOT MM 6.0!!!
1: odin flash twrp-3.0.2-0-zeroltetmo.img.tar, flash this after doing
the OTA Tmobile update of the mm 6.0 .
2: then in twrp recovery flash this supersu-v2.71-systemmode.zip.
If you do do it right, you will have no rooting issues.
Good luck,

You are going to need to Odin the T-mobile stock firmware, which you can find on MinisterJunky's post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...rmware-g928t-complete-untouched-boh6-t3198387
After that, you just need to run software update from the settings and you should be good to go. I would highly recommend doing a factory reset after you ODIN the stock 5.1 firmware before updating to 6.01.

So for some reason I am having the same problem trying to get this rooted.
I have made sure the OEM unock is enabled in develper settings
I boot into download mode, and I uncheck reset in options
I ODIN flash twrp-3.0.2-0-zeroltetmo.img.tar
I power off the phone, then I try to boot into recovery, the phone will show recovery is not enforcing (or whatever it says in red), then the screen just turns black.
Then I will reboot the phone again and it will remove the custom recovery.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
finally we got him.marshmallow update on s6 edge+ t mobile.now for customs rom?

Probably, it is better to wait for stock firmware and do it through the Odin. Ehh..

Can confirm, I just wiped all partitions and flashed through TWRP, upon reboot the recovery was back to stock. Locked boot loader again and phone is working fine. Thanks!
If you return custom rom phone, they won't know either. Because the phone looks working, and the sales person does not going to use computer and check if you unlocked bootloader.
At least in Canada.

Guide here
You can get the latest stock system and recovery images from the official oneplus site at http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-3/oneplus_3_oxygenos_3.2.1/ . I'd prefer that then from any 3rd party site. So use sideload or twrp to flash the rom + recovery then oem lock the phone again and factory reset. It's then the same as it comes in a box.
Im on the Open Beta 11 with No root and stock recovery, i want to get back to Marshmallow, Can i just "Install from Internal storage" with a Full Rom file through the stock recovery or is there any other way to do it?
The bootloader's too locked.

If you use the flash-all batch file to flash the factory image just go into the batch file and delete the -w paramater. Alternately you can flash each partition separately with fastboot.
To maintain twrp don't flash the recovery image. With any of this you'll have to root again.

Would it be possible to flash one of the full OTA images?
eg. https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/bullhead-ota-opm4.171019.016.a1-510a2077.zip
(NB. This will probably replace your recovery with the stock one on the first boot after upgrading.)
